- the cutting device a so-called tab cutting blade has, which serves only one of the layers of the To cut through multilayer tape, either the image receiving layer or the back layer, each of which other layer remains intact.
- the Applicant manufactured a device under the name DYMO 6000 and sold where a tab cutting blade is provided that cuts through the top image-receiving layer, while the back layer remains intact. With one It is possible to cut the image receiving layer by tabulation easily separate the back layer.
- the DYMO 6000 is a tab cutting blade around a ceramic blade that is used as a mold insert in a tab cut blade holder is used, by around 100 to stick out. If you want to cut a tab, a force is exerted on the blade carrier so that the Blade cuts through the image-receiving layer of the tape, while the tape is supported on a flat anvil surface. Since the amount that the blade protrudes from the blade carrier, is precisely set is a reliable tab cut ensured that the blade is always by the Image receiving tape cuts, but the back layer is intact leaves.
- An anvil is opposite in this cutting device a cutting blade mounted on a roller so that it can be used a cut the anvil rolled down against the blade being, gradually cutting across the width of the tape is carried out. That way the tape won't cut all at once, so that the necessary for the cut Actuating force is much lower.

- buttons 320, 310, 312 and 316 are provided, for example are shown as keys 320, 310, 312 and 316. How again through the jagged line across the connection between the controller 300 and the keyboard 306 indicated exists again the possibility that the keyboard from the printing device is remotely located.
- controller 300 There is also a connection between controller 300 and printhead 210 and one Belt drive motor 307, which drives the counter-pressure roller so that it conveys the tape out of the printing device.
- the Printhead and the tape drive motor guide the printing and feeding processes, controlled by the controller in a known manner Way out.
- the controller 300 is also still connected to a two-way motor control circuit 317 which the Operation of the cutting drive motor 200 in the following controls to be described in more detail.
- Controller 300 receives information from those in FIG. 9 shown cutting diagnostic switches 204, 206.
- the controller 300 is also connected to cassette diagnostic switches 301, located in the cassette receiving area of the printing device and parameters related to the cassette to the controller Deliver 300, for example about the type of tape, the Width, etc.
- control circuit 300 corresponding signals from the cutting diagnostic switches 204, 206, by means of which they determine the position of the Sled can determine. It can therefore be reversed the direction of movement of the anvil holder optionally on the inner or external stop position.
- Step 400 shows the beginning of a cutting process.
- a cutting process can be triggered by the user actuated a cutting key on the keyboard 306, or also automatically by the device itself after it has a certain Length of labels printed.
- the controller checks whether a full cut is required. This must be done by the user at the time the label is formatted or at the time when a cutting operation is triggered will be determined.
- a number N which is equal to the number of the diagnostic leaf spring switch 206 expected switching pulses. If a full cut is required, the number N is set to N2, while in a tabular cut alone the number N is set to N1.
- Nl is logically smaller than N2 because the extension stroke of the carriage 110 in the case of a tab cut is shorter than with a full cut on the return stroke.
- the sled 110 is started by starting the engine 200 moved outwards.
- the diagnostic leaf spring switch 204 determines when the sled is in the home position has passed, as indicated by transition 405 in FIG. 10. This transition is recognized in step 406, and the The controller then counts the diagnostic leaf spring switch 206 derived rising switching pulses. If N is equal corresponds to the preset number (N1 or N2, depending on Finding in steps 403a, 403b), the direction of rotation reversed the motor in step 407 to the carriage 110 to drive inside. Is the signal for the home position reached (step 408), the sequence of steps is ended (step 409).
- the diagnostic leaf spring switch 204 (see Figure 9) is used to turn the DC motor 200 off when the Anvil holder 104 comes back to its original position. The not directly, but through the software of the control 300 causes.
- a user can use a user interface of the printing device request labels with or without full cut.
- a series of labels can also be used in strip mode be made, after the last of these labels the control circuit can cause the cutting device, perform a full cut with the last tab cut, to separate the label strip from the printing device.
- the flow chart in Fig. 13 shows how a sequence of labels can be produced in strip mode, the Strip is cut off at the end with a full cut.
- the flowchart in Fig. 13 begins at the point where a User has requested a sequence of p labels, which is single label from its neighboring label only is separated by a tab cut, but the labels are on remain attached to a common strip of backing tape. This is identified in the flowchart by step 500.
- the processor sets p to 0 at step 502.
- the processor then prints the first label of the episode.
- p is increased by 1 and compared to P at step 507. It is clear that p on the first label is not equal to P, and consequently the Full cut blade out of order as explained above. Thus, only a tab cut is carried out, such as shown in step 510.
- Step 602 determines if one or more copies have been requested. If it is just a single label, it will Label printed at step 604, followed by the cutting process includes a full cut tab cut at step 606.
- a full cut is selected, a sequence of copies of a label is printed and cut individually with a full cut, as in a row of steps 610, 612 and 614.
- the processor In contrast to a full cut, the processor must also Take the lead length of a label into account when it is in strip mode is working. This can be seen in more detail in EP 578372 described manner.
- the printing device can count the copies count and, if desired, a user See also.
- the display shows how much Copies have been printed or are still to be printed.
- the printer can be set up so that it supplies increasing copies. This means that Printing device can print a sequence of labels on which a number is assigned to each label, followed by Labels have this number plus 1. Alternatively, you can the user selects the number of labels to be printed with the same increasing number can be printed. So he could be Example 3 Select copies of labels that are the same ascending Have number.
- the lead length of a label can be reduced by starting a printing operation so that a part of the label is printed, then stopping the printing operation to make a tab cut after the tape has been fed a predetermined length, and then full label is printed. This enables shorter labels to be produced, which means that tape consumption is reduced to a minimum.

Abstract
