Definitions

  • the invention is in the field of packaging technology and relates to a Method according to the preamble of the first independent claim.
  • the method is used for strapping stacks that are at least restricted bendable, flat objects, for example from newspapers, Magazines, brochures or other flexible printed products exist.
  • Known strapping machines are usually equipped in such a way that strapping machines Stack fed in a conveying direction, then strapped and then in are conveyed away in the same direction.
  • For strapping across mentioned conveying direction come to turn a strapping around the stack of tape channels or other tape positioning means with which the belt is positioned around the conveyor path for use.
  • the strapping is then approximately in the middle of the stack base (horizontal Stack side) or on one side surface of the stack (vertical stack side) locked.
  • the strapping is used for strapping parallel to the conveying direction or a strapping film usually as a curtain over the Conveyor path stretched and carried through the stack as it is conveyed, which is the stack. Then the strapping on the in Direction of conveyance closed at the rear side of the stack (vertical stack side).
  • Strapping machines are usually essentially for the mentioned, suitable package or bundle size designed and the majority Standard batches of this size are processed with it. But since there are storage quantities, transport lots and shipments from very different numbers of printed products may exist, they usually include not only such Standard packages but also so-called top packages, which is a smaller one Number of products included as the standard packages.
  • the object of the invention is to demonstrate a method with that in a strapping machine, especially in a strapping machine, equipped for a strapping closure on a vertical stack side is that smaller stacks can be created with the same strapping quality, than is possible with the known corresponding strapping methods.
  • the process should be simple and with a minimum of additional machine effort with known strapping machines can be carried out his.
  • the invention also has the task of a strapping machine to create with which the inventive method can be carried out is.
  • the method according to the invention essentially consists of one strapping stack before strapping by bending the contained therein Compress objects in such a way that they are directed towards the objects to be manufactured Strapping has a smaller circumference than in its original, uncompressed form. Then the strap is compressed around the Stacked and locked. If now the strapped stack is returned to its original shape, the strapping tool, only loosely around the compressed stack because of its too small size is tight, so that the strapped stack is as stable as a larger one such a stack.
  • the stack is a concave and receives an opposite convex surface.
  • the stack is optionally pressed in the bent state and with the strapping folded, the strapping the concave side of the curved stack spanned in a straight line and to its convex side essentially invests. Then the strapping is closed and the The strapped stack is pressed again into a straight, the means unbent shape.
  • the strapping around the curved stack has a smaller one Length as a strapping wrapped around the unbent stack so that the ribbon. when the strapped stack is brought back to a straight state is better tensioned around the stack than without the stack bend would be the case.
  • the bending of the stack for strapping is like this interpret that, for example, by the closure device at Strapping a small stack was too long due to the bend is at least made up for. In other words, that means for one exactly the same band tension on the finished packages or bundles for small and even smaller stacks, adjust the bend to the stack height would.
  • the stack can also be used instead of with a single bend of the objects a multiple bending of the objects into a wavy shape be compressed.
  • small stacks can be processed as long as the inherent rigidity of the stack is sufficient to keep it in its not to hold the bent position. If the stack is so small that if this is no longer the case, the strapped stack is flat again pressed form is no longer stable and tends to bend again, whereby the strapping loses its tightness and the stack can become unstable.
  • the minimum height that a stack to be strapped must have in order for it to reach of a strapping machine can still be strapped without any compression can is primarily dependent on the device for creating the closure of the strapping agent and can be larger in specific machines or smaller than the 4 to 6 cm above.
  • the strapping machine for carrying out the method according to the invention is a known strapping machine that also has a device to compress the stack to be strapped by bending the Items and to restore the original stack shape. If necessary, it also has means for pressing the stack in a compressed manner Shape up.
  • the additional device is advantageously such controllable for stacks whose height is a limit (e.g. 6cm) is activated and is not active for stacks that are larger. Equipped with such a control of the additional device, can the strapping machine according to the invention for the creation of standard packages (without compression) and from small to very small top packages (with compression) are used, that is their area of application is considerably expanded compared to the known strapping machine.
  • FIG. 1 shows various stages of a stack 1 which is strapped parallel to the paper plane in a method according to the invention.
  • the stack 1 is shown at the top in its original shape, as it rests on a base, for example.
  • the stack 1 is, for example, bent upwards for compression, its base area being reduced and its top 2 assuming a convex shape and its underside 3 a concave shape.
  • a strapping means 4 is placed around the stack 1 bent in this way and closed on one of the vertical sides of the stack (closure point 5). Because of the closure means, the strapping means 4 cannot lie quite snugly against the convex top of the stack in the region of the closure point 5, which is shown somewhat exaggerated in FIG.
  • FIG 2 shows an example of an embodiment of the strapping machine according to the invention, the parts relevant to the inventive method.
  • the strapping machine has a conveyor belt 10 on which stacks to be strapped (not shown) are conveyed away in the conveying direction F into the strapping position of the machine and again in the conveying direction F.
  • the conveyor belt 10 is guided over three deflecting rollers 11.1 to 11.3, one (11.3) of the deflecting rollers being movably, for example spring-mounted (double arrow A).
  • the strapping machine has a bending means 12, with the help of which the conveyor run of the conveyor belt 10 in a bent position (dash-dotted shown and designated 10 ') can be brought.
  • the bending means 12 is made for example from an additional one that can be moved by means of a linear motor Deflection roller 13. The additional length of the conveyor run in the curved Configuration is done by moving the pulley 11.3 compensated (not shown).
  • the conveyor belt also as a plurality of narrow, spaced apart sub-bands be designed and the bending means a comb-like, between the Sub-straps have gripping shape, such that it is in its active position protrudes beyond the subbands without moving them into another position.
  • the conveyor belt is 10 in in any case as at least two spaced apart and parallel to each other running partial belts and the deflection roller 13 of the bending means 12 to design as at least two sub-rolls, the strapping runs between two such sub-belts and sub-rolls.
  • the strapping machine has a perpendicular to the conveying direction F.
  • movable (double arrow B) pressing means 20 with which the curved and strapped stack can be brought into its original, flat position.
  • the pressing means 20 can be used with a flat. parallel to the conveyor belt 10 extending press surface, which according to the Strapping and after deactivation of the bending means 12 (driving the Deflection roller 13 in its lower position) is lowered onto the stack.
  • the pressing means 20 does not only work for the restoration the original stack form but also as an aid for the Bending and as a pressing means for pressing the bent stack.
  • the pressing means 20 for example, as shown in FIG. 2, as a pair of press arms 21 that can be pivoted relative to one another designed.
  • the press arms 21 are by a spring 22 or by a equivalent return means in an angled position held, the angle between the spring arms 21 at most as large is like the angle of the concave bottom of the stack.
  • the swiveling of the Press arms 21 is further limited such that they no longer counter press arms can be pressed at the top than in an aligned position (angle between the press arms are 180 °), in which they are both parallel to the conveyor belt 10 run in its unbent position.
  • the pressing means 20 does not come into conflict with the strapping means, it is like the conveyor belt 10 and the deflection roller 13 at least in two parts design and the at least two parts are to be arranged spaced apart.
  • the bending means 12 for stacks with a height that is greater than a predetermined minimum height activate and, if necessary, control the position of the deflection roller 13 in such a way that the bend is adjusted to the stack height (the smaller the stack height. the greater the bend, the higher the active position of the Deflection roller 13).
