Definitions

  • the invention relates to a braking device for roller skates, in particular single-track roller skates, with a brake pad which can be placed on the floor and which is detachably attached to the roller skate frame or shoe and can be pivoted with respect to the force of a spring about a pivot axis which runs generally parallel to the axes of the rollers is connected to the roller skate frame or shoe, a roller brake part connected to the brake block being able to be pressed under frictional contact when the brake block is pivoted against the running surface of at least one roller.
  • Braking devices for roller skates in which brake pads are arranged between the rollers of the shoe and the sole of the shoe so as to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the shoe and which interact directly with the rollers, can be found, for example, in US Pat. No. 5,143,387 or US Pat. No. 5,171,032. While the displacement of the brake pads in the subject of US Pat. No. 5,143,387 A is to take place by curving the toes inside the shoe, a cable pull with a handle has become known for the displacement of the brake pads in the subject of US Pat. No. 5,171,032 A, such as that used for bicycle brakes is known. These two known devices are all brake pads which, like the brake devices on bicycles, only interact directly with the rollers.
  • roller skates have brake pads which are rigidly releasably connected to the frame or the shoe, the braking effect being achieved in that the respective roller skate is positioned relative to the ground surface in such a way that instead of the rollers, the brake pads are now in frictional connection with the Bottom.
  • This conventional type of braking of roller skates has essentially established itself, although the braking effect occurs differently abruptly due to the pivoting of the brake blocks relative to the floor surface and the placing of the brake blocks against the floor surface.
  • an extension is connected to a brake pad which can be pivoted against the force of a tension spring and which cooperates with rollers when the brake pad is pivoted.
  • the extension is due to the possible choice of material and material thickness of the connecting part to the brake pad more or less resiliently applied to the rollers, so that an additional but limited braking force is exerted, which is only effective with multi-track roller skates and simultaneous braking of a plurality of rollers reached.
  • US Pat. No. 5,183,272 shows a braking device with a brake pad which has an extension protruding into a brake housing with a friction surface which, during the braking process, has a braking effect on a brake roller mounted in the brake housing via a type of toggle joint, which in turn then has a braking effect on the rear roller .
  • a braking device in which, instead of a brake pad, an additional roller is articulated via a linkage at the rear end of the roller skate frame, the hub of this roller being braked by the braking surface of a part of the linkage acting as a brake lever when the roller skate is tilted relative to the floor surface.
  • the invention now aims to develop a braking device of the type mentioned using conventional stoppers or brake pads in such a way that on the one hand a gentle initiation of the braking process is possible and on the other hand the greatest possible braking force is available when needed, without this There is a risk that braking will bring the rotor out of equilibrium. While shoes only braked on the rollers require that the weight is shifted simultaneously when the braking process is initiated in order to avoid stumbling and thus a fall, such a shifting of the weight is always automatic when using brake blocks in the manner of stoppers, so that with this training the risk of falling is much lower.
  • the training according to the invention based on the above-mentioned training of the shoe with a brake block essentially consists in that the brake block or a holding part of the same is guided in an elongated hole or link guide lying at a distance from the pivot axis of the brake block, with Swiveling of the brake block of the roller brake part can be pressed against the roller with support of the brake block or holding part in the slot or link guide.
  • roller brake part has a friction surface with a contour that partially encompasses the roller. This also ensures a relatively low wear of the respective components required for the brake.
  • the elongated hole guide has an elongated hole which is inclined to the longitudinal direction of the shoe, the roller brake part pivoting the brake block while supporting the brake block or holding part on an inclined surface the slot guide is slidable against the roller.
  • the braking force is further increased by coherent contact with the lower surface of the sole or the inclined surface.
  • the design can advantageously be such that the pivot axis of the brake pad or holding part coincides with the axis of the rearmost roller of the shoe or is arranged behind this axis.
  • the design according to the invention with the brake pad which can be pivoted against the force of a spring enables, in addition to the equalization and the gentle initiation of the braking process, an avoidance of discontinuities in the braking action with the highest possible braking forces.
  • the braking effect is achieved by simultaneously or additionally braking at least one roller of the roller skate, which is in contact with the floor surface, essentially independently of the nature of the ground and grip, the braking force not by additional measures, but only by the brake release by Swiveling the shoe to put the brake pad on the floor surface is initiated.
  • roller brake part connected to the brake block is designed as a brake roller. It is also advantageous if the axis of the brake roller is slidably arranged in the slot guide.
  • the spring acting on the brake pad is a compression spring. It is also advantageous if the holding part of the brake pad has a spring plate for one end of the compression spring and the compression spring is received with its other end in a recess on the roller skate frame or shoe.
  • brake pads of the same type can be used as in conventional devices, which, however, can then be connected by screws to the pivotable holder, which must have the spring plate for the compression spring.
  • a particularly good equalization of the braking effect can be achieved in that the compression spring has a progressive spring characteristic, such a progressive spring characteristic, for example, by arranging two separate ones coaxial springs can be achieved as compression springs of different hardness and the harder spring only comes into effect after a predetermined displacement of the softer spring.
  • FIG. 1 shows a schematic side view of a roller skate with the braking device according to the invention
  • 2 shows an enlarged illustration of a partial section through a first embodiment of a braking device according to the invention
  • 3 shows, in a representation analogous to FIG. 2, a modified embodiment of a braking device according to the invention
  • 4 shows a further modified embodiment of a braking device according to the invention in a likewise analog representation
  • 5 shows a partial view in the direction of arrow V of FIG. 4
  • 6 again partially in section and on an enlarged scale a further modified embodiment by a braking device according to the invention
  • Figure 7 is a partial view in the direction of arrow VII of Figure 6
  • a roller skate is generally designated 1, a plurality of rollers or wheels 3 being rotatably mounted in a frame 2.
  • a brake device generally designated 4
  • a brake pad 5 releasably connected to the roller skate or the frame 2 being pivotably mounted on the frame 2 or on the shell 1 of the roller skate against the force of a spring 6 .
  • the frame 2 can be formed, for example, in one piece with the shell 1 of the roller skate.
  • the brake pad 5 is fixed in a holder 7 by means of a screw 8, the holder 7 with the brake pad 5 being mounted in the frame 2 so as to be pivotable about an axis 10 parallel to the wheel axis 9.
  • the holder 7 has a spring plate 13 for receiving the compression spring, the spring 6 being held on the frame or the shell in a recess 14 which forms the second spring plate.
  • an extension 15 is connected, wherein when performing a braking operation by pivoting the brake pad 5 and the holder 7 in the direction of arrow 16, the extension 15 comes into frictional contact with the tread of the rear wheel 3, so that the braking not only by the contact between the braking surface 11 of the brake pad 5 and the floor 12 but also by the extension 15 resting on the wheel 3.
  • the extension 15 is guided here via a bolt 17 in an elongated hole guide formed by two elongated holes 18 and 19.
  • FIG. 3 A similar embodiment is shown in FIG. 3, the brake pad 5 in turn being releasably mounted in a holder 7 and when the brake pad 5 and the holder 7 are pivoted, the braking process is initiated in a damped manner against the force of the compression spring 6.
  • the pivot axis of the holder 7 coincides with the wheel axis 9 of the rear wheel 3 and instead of the intersecting elongated holes 18 and 19, a curved elongated hole 20 is provided in this embodiment, the center of curvature of the common axis 4 of the wheel 3 and the holder 7 corresponds.
  • the extension 15 When carrying out a braking operation, the extension 15 also comes into frictional contact with the tread of the rear wheel 3.
  • a stop for the Movement of the brake pad 5 is provided on the one hand the limitation of the elongated hole 20 and on the other hand an extension 21 of the frame.
  • a brake roller 22 is rotatably mounted about an axis 23 in the holder 7 of the brake pad 5.
  • the axis 23 is guided in an elongated hole guide 24, so that when the brake pad 5 and the holder 7 are pivoted in the direction of the arrow 16, the roller 22 comes into contact with the tread of the wheel 3 when a braking operation is carried out, as is shown in particular in FIG. 5 is clearly visible.
  • the brake roller 22 here has a contour which at least partially encompasses the roller or the last wheel 3. For a corresponding braking effect, the brake roller 22 is in this case rotatably mounted in the holder 7.
  • an additional brake shoe 25 is mounted in the holder 7, the holder 7 or the receiving element for the additional brake shoe 25 being guided in a slot guide 27 via a bolt 26.
  • the additional brake shoe 25 partially engages around the tread of the last wheel 3, so that, in this embodiment as well, when the brake pad 5 and the holder 7 are pivoted, braking of the last wheel 3 additionally occurs by pressing the brake shoe the tread of the wheel 3 takes place.
  • a coaxially arranged further compression spring 28 is indicated, so that overall a progressive spring characteristic can be achieved by selecting different spring characteristics.
