Abstract

11,117. Brayshaw, E. R. May 5. Atmospheric gas burners. - Relates to gas burners for furnaces such as are employed for melting metals in crucibles &c. The airsupply pipe d' is connected to a nozzle E shaped as shown. The gas - supply pipe d communicates with the chamber f, which is connected by a narrow passage with the space f<1> in front of the nozzle. The mixing-chamber G contains a baffle-plate H formed with a conical projection h and passages h<1> through which the mixture passes to the delivery pipe d<2>. A protecting-block K, which may be of cast iron, is fitted at the delivery end of the pipe d<2> and fits into a block k at the end of the heating inlet C, which is preferably faced with a block of heat-resisting material. The end of the heating inlet C may be plugged with a block c<1>, Fig. 8, into which the pipe d<2> is fitted. The air is blown in under pressure, or may be drawn in by the gas.
