A i r , s u p p l y i n g ; baffles; fire - bridges.- A perforated fire-clay chamber a is arranged beyond the bridge b and occupies approximately the whole of the upper half of the flue, and air is supplied to it by a pipe h passing through the upper part of the furnace. In the neighbourhood of the chamber the flue is lined with fire-clay &c. g, and a second bridge o is provided beyond it. The chamber a is supported by the lining g and by a central wall f. In addition to the air outlets j, k, apertures n may be provided in the front of the chamber for the entry of hot gases. The pipe h terminates close to the rear wall of the chamber a.
