Abstract

1635. Wefer, W. Jan. 20. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-A gas-fired furnace for steam-boilers &c. is provided with a refractory block g with perforations f, to which air is supplied from a chamber e having adjustable openings d. Gas-supply tubes c, connected to a chamber b, pass into these perforations, but do not extend to the end of the block g. The end of the chamber b is closed by a cover h, which may be hinged and yieldingly held in place, but is preferably secured gas-tight, as shown, and provided with a diaphragm i, which is readily destroyed by an explosion. Removal of the cover gives ready access to the gas-tubes for cleaning.
