Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-In a furnace for annealing boiler-furnace tubes &c., gas from a producer 4 passes into an annular chamber 13 supplied with air through passages 12, and the combustion products pass between blocks 9 and through passages 11 to the annealing-chamber, whence they escape through the central column 5 and through flues 14 leading to an annular chamber 15 connected to the outlet flue 7. The central column and the flues 14 may be closed, and the gases then escape by a chimney 18 in the portable cover 16. In alternative arrangements the producer gas may be led to the central flue 6 or to the chamber 15, the combustion products escaping by the flue 7 or the chimney 18, and the distributing-chamber 13 may be in a higher position and arranged around the annealing-chamber.
