Waste-Gas Treatment And Other Accessory Devices For Furnaces
(AREA)
Abstract
15,846. Spencer, J. W. July 16. Valves.-In order t o prevent the leakage of gas from the reversing- valves of gas regenerative f u rnaces, and the consequent admixture and combustion of air and gas in the flues, the valves are protected from the distorting-action of the escaping hot waste gases by passing the latter directly into the chimney flue instead of through the valve. The exit valves B, B' for the products of combustion are suspended by chains 1 and may be worked independently of the gas-reversing valve A, or in unison with it, by means of the lever C and connections shown. When the valves are in the position shown in Fig. 1, gas passes under the closed valve B' into the furnace, and the waste gases escape directly to the flue through the valve B.
