Abstract

4104. Drakes, Ltd., and Drake, W. A. Feb. 18. Retort furnaces.-In a vertical retort furnace, each retort is provided at its lower end with an extension 7 surrounded by walls 9, which, with the extension, form a space open at the bottom, and in communication at the top with flues 10<a>. Air is heated in passing through the space, and is delivered through the flues 10<a> for combustion in the chamber surrounding the retorts.
