Abstract
9409. Dempster & Sons, R., and Toogood, H. J. April 19. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-In vertical gas-retort settings, the regenerator flues are arranged at one side of the furnace or producer, the producer and the regenerator flues being built up to the same height as the setting. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the setting is divided by a vertical wall 2 into two compartments. Regeneratively heated air and producer gas enter these compartments through adjustable ports 18, 5, respectively, and the combustion products, after passing through the regenerator, escape to the outlet flue 16 through a dampered opening.
