C21B13/10—Making spongy iron or liquid steel, by direct processes in hearth-type furnaces
Abstract
18,679. Simpson, W. S., and Oviatt, H. Aug. 8. Gaseous-fuel furnaces.-Open-hearth furnaces employed in the manufacture of iron and steel directly from iron ores, are constructed with flues in the hearth for the passage of hot gases. In the arrangement shown, these flues A receive hot gases from a separate combustion chamber W only. This chamber is supplied with regeneratively heated air from a flue D and with gas from the main or from a separate producer. Specifications 24,845/08 and 24,846/08, [both in Class 72, Iron &c.], are referred to.
