Abstract

12,667. Peacey, W. H. May 25. Vapour burners ; vaporizing-apparatus. - A vapour burner of the type in which fuel is admitted to the bottom of the vaporizing- chamber and travels up through a mass of heatconducting material, such as metal shavings, or chain, to the upper part of the chamber, and thence down in the form of vapour through a central tube to the burner nozzles, has a vaporizing-chamber B, of which all the upper portion that is exposed to considerable heat is made in one piece, or if made in more than one piece, these pieces are permanently secured to one another. The lower part of the chamber B is detachably connected to a base A, the joint B' lying at or below the level at which the flames impinge on the vaporizing-chamber. The vaporizing-chamber has a laterally projecting vapour-conduit D controlled by a throttle valve H, and the nozzle conduit G is clamped upon the vapour outlet conduit D, by a yoke J and studs J<1>. The burner conduit G encircles the lower part of the overhanging vaporizing-chamber B and is provided with a gap to enable it to be withdrawn laterally. In the vaporizing-chamber B is a central conduit E, which extends through the packing and provides a channel for the insertion therethrough of a conduit for the outgoing vapour. The vaporizer may be provided with laterally-projecting vanes, and the burner tube G may be arranged in a helix.
