Definitions
- the invention relates to a component according to the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates a method of manufacturing such components based on intermetallic phases of the system Titanium aluminum with an aluminum content between 42 at% and 53 at%.
- Intermetallic phases are currently increasing Interest as potentially suitable construction materials for highly stressed components at high operating temperatures. Especially the intermetallic Because of phases based on titanium aluminide their good strength at high temperatures in combination with low density multiple applications, e.g. in cases where the mechanical Component loading - partially - with the occurrence is caused by centrifugal forces. Examples are here the turbine blades mentioned.
- titanium aluminides with an aluminum content in the range of 42 - 53 at%, especially in the range of 45-50 at%, with regard important to their good mechanical properties.
- p. 1899 is the phase diagram of the system Titanium aluminum known.
- antioxidant protective layers e.g. of type Ni (Co) CrAlY known.
- protective layers could applied to titanium aluminide, the material properties adversely affect this material, in particular through interdiffusion processes that affect the mechanical Properties, especially the resilience can greatly reduce the material.
- protective layers always manufacturing and / or operational defects, e.g. Pores or cracks that can cause a strong local Corrosion of what is covered by this protective layer Materials - here titanium aluminide.
- the object of the invention is achieved by a Component according to claim 1.
- titanium aluminides with aluminum contents of 42-52 at% aluminum depends not only on the exact composition of the material or the alloy, but rather on the structure.
- a titanium aluminide with a given composition can, when aged in the above-mentioned temperature range of up to 900 ° C, in particular 700 - 900 ° C, both a slowly growing Al 2 O 3 layer and a rapidly growing TiO Form 2 layer.
- titanium aluminide in the event that, in addition to such a eutectoid structure, there are also primary and secondary precipitated TiAl phases in the surface area, this material leads to a TiO 2 layer formation at high temperatures up to 900 ° C, which spreads over the entire surface of the material in a disadvantageous manner after a long aging period.
- the formation of the Al 2 O 3 layer which is favorable for the oxidation and corrosion resistance of the material, is ensured if the component made of titanium aluminide has a structure limited to the surface area with a completely eutectoid reaction, with a lamellar, Ti 3 Al / TiAl structure.
- the component is advantageously used for this purpose a temperature heat treated, according to the Ti-Al phase diagram only ⁇ -Ti is present if possible.
- the optimal heat treatment temperature should depend on Composition of the titanium aluminide at least as possible close to the stability range of the ⁇ -Ti in the phase diagram lie. Should it be the starting material of the component not about binary titanium aluminide, but about a with additional ternary or quaternary alloy additives can act the most suitable in this case Heat treatment temperature determined experimentally become.
- Process is the heat treatment temperature in the range selected from 1300 ° C - 1430 ° C, especially at 1400 ° C.
- the Duration of the heat treatment expediently up to several Hours, e.g. up to 4 hours, in particular 30 minutes to 4 hours.
- the procedure is an additional heat treatment the surface of the component that has already been heat-treated taught. This is particularly important if the one generated by the first heat treatment lamellar eutectoid structure on the surface of the Component is incomplete. It is e.g. imaginable that the surface of the initially heat-treated component is still mechanically processed, so that the initially obtained lamellar structure partly in more or less of the component e.g. mechanically Will get removed. Such additional heat treatment, especially in the surface area, the no longer has this desired structure become.
- the process is a locally defined heat treatment with the help of a laser, an electron beam or a high-frequency induction coil proposed. in the a combination of these surface treatment methods can also be used respectively.
- a surface zone of up to 100 ⁇ m or more locally melted or up to sufficiently high temperatures especially in the stability range mentioned above of the ⁇ -Ti, e.g. about 1400 ° C, are heated.
- the width of the component can be heat-treated Surface zone can be set specifically. E.g. a small width of this zone has the advantage that the inside of the component as little as possible their mechanical properties is affected.
- An advantageous variant of the method according to the invention finally arises in the event that the component is heat-treated with the aid of a high-frequency heating, in particular with the aid of a high-frequency induction coil.
- This component is moved through the coil at a suitable speed depending on the desired penetration depth of the surface structure made of fine lamellar, eutectoidal Ti 3 Al / TiAl structure.
- the penetration depth of the favorable lamellar structure can be set locally.
