Definitions
- the invention relates to an arrangement according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such arrangements are used to prepare bundles of lines for installation in aircraft, for example, by carrying out the relevant assembly work. This includes measuring and arranging the individual cables, pulling on sleeves and protective hoses, attaching cable lugs and plugs, tying off the cable branches, inserting empty contacts and blind plugs, and removing, rolling up and packing the finished cable bundle.
- the respective line bundle remains on a laying board, from the attachment of the first lines until its completion, which generally has considerable dimensions, see EP-A-0 290 641. Since all work occurring on a line bundle is carried out when this occurs the installation board in question, it is not available for the processing of other cable bundles for a relatively long time. Therefore, a large number of installation boarders are required to ensure a smooth production process.
- the invention has for its object to provide a generic arrangement such that the need for laying board, based on a certain production throughput, is reduced, while at the same time the need for building space is reduced and the work efficiency is increased.
- This work station for carrying out assembly work on the line bundles essentially consists of a work table 2 with a work chair 3 and a line carrier 4.
- the work table 2 has a storage space 6 for small devices and tools below a work surface 5 to the right of the work chair 3.
- To the left of the work chair 3 there is a device compartment 7 with a control panel 8. Inside the device compartment 7 there is a contact magazine that contains contacts in all the required versions.
- a computer 12 with a screen 13 and a keyboard 14 is arranged.
- a floppy disk drive 15 assigned to the computer 12 is accessible via the control panel 8.
- the cable carrier 4 has a substructure (not visible here) with a column and serves to receive and hold the cable bundles for their processing and transport.
- the worktop 5 is provided on its side facing away from the work chair 3 with a recess for the lead carrier 4.
- the cable carrier 4 is in the working position on the work table 2 when its column is inside the recess.
- FIG. 2 shows a view of the line carrier 4 with a plate-shaped receiving part 18 which can be rotated like a carousel about its vertical axis and in the center of which there is a cylindrical winding core 19.
- a plurality of clamp holders 20 are arranged on the edge of the receiving part 18.
- the receiving part 18 is carried wildly by a substructure 21, which is formed from the column 23 and a star-shaped foot with five radial arms 22, the ends of which are provided with lockable wheels 24 of a conventional type.
- the routing and arrangement of the individual lines to form a line bundle is carried out as before on a laying board.
- the cable bundles which usually have a branched tree structure, are put together from individual cables on the basis of the respective manufacturing regulations, protective sleeves and cable ties being attached.
- the subsequent work is no longer carried out on the laying board but on the above-described cable carrier 4.
- the cable bundle is therefore removed from the laying board and placed on the cable carrier 4.
- the cable bundle is placed around the winding core 19 and the ends of the individual branches of the cable bundle are each fixed in the clamp holders 20.
- the cable carrier 4 is then moved to carry out the further work with the cable bundle to a work station 1 and is brought into the working position here by the column 23 being inserted into the recess in the worktop 5 until its end.
- the partially automated stripping is carried out by means of the stripping machine 10.
- This digitally controllable device of known type is integrated in the work station 1 and receives its control signals from the computer 12. This has access to appropriate databases of all data relevant to the workplace that belong to a line bundle. Before starting work on a trunk group, its data is called up via the keyboard 14. The identity of the end of the bundle to be processed is then entered. A menu then appears on the screen 13, in which all the line ends appearing at this end of the bundle are listed. From this menu, the control commands assigned to the individual lines for this end of the bundle can be called up by pressing the corresponding key buttons. After the cable ends have been cut to the required length, the stripping and crimping of the cable ends can begin.
- one of the lines is selected and the identifier on it is read.
- the relevant control commands for the stripping machine and the crimping machine are now activated. Now the cable end can be inserted into the opening of the stripping machine. When the end is fully inserted, a stop is touched, which initiates the stripping process via a trigger switch. Due to the individual control command, each line is stripped taking into account the individual dimensions. Since this process takes place with great accuracy, damage to the conductors by the stripping knife is reliably avoided. If a line end is stripped in this way, it is inserted into the opening of the crimping machine. Here, too, the process is started again by a trigger switch when the line ends is fully introduced into the contact.
- the contact magazine which contains all types of contacts, that is to say contact pins and sockets, is connected to the automatic crimping machine 11 via a contact feeder.
- the contact magazine is designed to be program-controllable, so that it always delivers the contact provided for the contact provided for the stripped cable end. The contacting work at one end of the bundle is complete when all ends of the line are provided with a contact.
- One embodiment of the automatic crimping machine 11 is that it cooperates with a light barrier in such a way that the crimping process is triggered when the stripped line end is fully inserted into the contact in question. This is achieved in that the light beam is guided in such a way that it is interrupted when the cut surface of the sheathing which is produced during the stripping is approximately in contact with the opposite surface of the contact.
- the advantage of the light barrier compared to the release switch can be seen when crimping contacts for larger cable cross-sections. This is because, due to the light barrier, premature triggering of the crimping process caused by friction is avoided.
- the plug connector to be attached to the end of the cable bundle is clamped into the vice-like receptacle of the clamping device 16 and brought into the assembly position. In this position, the cable-side interface of the connector is accessible for inserting the contacts and the connector is optimally aligned with the assembly aid 9.
- the clamping device 16 is designed to be freely displaceable and rotatable within a plane parallel to the worktop 5 can be fixed in any position that can be reached.
- the identity of the end of the bundle to be processed is entered into the computer 12 via the keyboard 14.
- the assembly aid 9 then simultaneously supplies two guide beams which are assigned to certain contact chambers which are characteristic of the plug connector concerned.
- the alignment of the connector then takes place in that the markings supplied by the assembly aid 9 are brought into line with the aforementioned contact chambers by moving the connector and the connector is fixed in this position.
- a menu then appears on the screen 13, which contains the identifiers of all the lines to be connected to the connector.
- the connector can be populated as follows. One of the lines is selected for insertion into the connector, its identification is read and the corresponding option displayed on the screen 13 is selected by hitting the assigned key button. This triggers activation of the assembly aid 9, so that the contact chamber, into which the contact pin with the line connected to it is to be inserted, is clearly marked by an optical guide beam.
- An embodiment of the arrangement is that a mouse is connected to the computer 12.
- the mouse generates a freely movable cursor on the screen 13, with which the individual options can be controlled and selected using the mouse button. It is not necessary to read the key keys (menu items) assigned to the individual options from the screen 13 in order to then hit them on the keyboard 14.
- a conceivable development of the invention is that the identifiers of the individual lines are read directly by an optical reader and entered into the computer 12. This further reduces the possible error rate.
- FIG. 3 shows an embodiment of the line carrier 4 according to the invention with the receiving part 18 and the elements 20 to 24 described above.
- This embodiment consists in that a plurality of vertical bars 25 are used instead of the cylindrical winding core 19.
- a corresponding number of bushings 26 for receiving the rods 25 is arranged on a concentric circle around the center of the line carrier with an approximately uniform angular division.
- the winding core consists of only six bars. This solution results in a better overview of the line bundle and better handling.
- a plurality of circles of different diameters with bushings 26 arranged thereon can also be provided. This allows the winding core by inserting the rods 25 into the relevant one Adapt sockets 26 to cable bundles of different dimensions.
- the column 23 is provided with a height adjustment 27 of a known type.
