Definitions
- the invention relates to a refractory filling of an annular gap which is provided between a molded part, in particular a gas purging plug, installed in an opening of a refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel, and the lining.
- the annular gap between a refractory lining of a metallurgical vessel and a gas purging plug to be inserted into it is mortared in order to ensure the necessary tight fit of the gas purging plug in the refractory lining, in particular in a perforated brick provided on it.
- This mortaring is a complex, manual process. On the one hand, it must take place under spatially and thermally difficult conditions. On the other hand, the annular gap must be sealed all around with certainty, otherwise leaks occur during operation, which can lead to the melt escaping from the vessel.
- DE-OS 21 02 059 describes a slide closure for a metallurgical vessel.
- a fireproof sleeve is mortared into a bottom stone of the vessel.
- a gas purging plug of the vessel is not shown.
- a component is covered with a conical sleeve made of refractory, ceramic fibers.
- the object of the invention is to propose a filling of the type mentioned, which is constructed so that the molded part in the refractory lining of the metallurgical vessel can be easily assembled on the one hand and on the other hand so that the necessary seal is created.
- the above object is achieved in the case of a filling of the type mentioned at the outset in that the filling is a prefabricated, deformable installation layer which is adapted to the shape or the volume of the annular gap and can be fixed on the latter or in the opening before the molded part is installed is.
- the filling is a prefabricated, deformable installation layer which is adapted to the shape or the volume of the annular gap and can be fixed on the latter or in the opening before the molded part is installed is.
- the deformation of the built-in layer in the shape of the annular gap also ensures that the filling can be easily manufactured or assembled by being fixed in the opening or on the molded part either before the molded part is inserted. As a result, the filling comes automatically into the desired position filling the annular gap when the molded part is inserted, without the need for an additional operation.
- the filling can also serve to fasten the molded part in the opening.
- the installation layer is preferably preformed in accordance with the conical ring shape of the annular gap before installation.
- the built-in layer consists of a mass which expands at the operating temperature and is packaged in a casing adapted to the shape or the volume of the annular gap, the volume of the built-in layer preferably being smaller than that of the annular gap.
- the installation layer expands all around, which creates the necessary seal.
- Raw materials with high thermal expansion such as e.g. MgO used, or raw materials when they react with each other there is sufficient elongation, such as e.g. is the case with spinel formation.
- the mass for the embodiment of the invention must not shrink again when the temperature is applied.
- the built-in layer consists of a plastically deformable mass which is packaged in a casing adapted to the shape or volume of the annular gap, the volume of the built-in layer being equal to or greater than that of the annular gap.
- the built-in layer assumes a shape that completely fills the annular gap. In this case too, tolerances between the shape of the opening and the molded part are compensated. Tolerances of the casing are also compensated for.
- the built-in layer consists of a compressible ceramic fiber material which is preformed in accordance with the shape of the annular gap and has a volume which is equal to or greater than that of the annular gap.
- a cover for the installation layer can, but need not be provided. At the Inserting the molded part into the opening of the lining compresses the installation layer and then fills the annular gap. Their volume is preferably greater than that of the annular gap before installation.
- the shell of the built-in layer is flexible in such a way that it deforms to fit the annular gap when the molded part is inserted into the opening of the lining. It can also tear open.
- the casing consists of an organic material, such as paper or plastic, or of a metallic foil.
- the casing is burnt or sintered so that it does not impair the desired tightness of the annular gap.
- the built-in layer can also be removed particularly easily from the perforated brick after the gas flushing plug has worn out. This is obviously achieved because of the shell forming a separating layer, but without adversely affecting the connection strength during operation.
- the built-in layer and the gas purging plug form a prefabricated structural unit. This can then be transported to the installation site of the metallurgical vessel and inserted into its opening.
- the structural unit, consisting of the built-in layer and the gas purging plug can also be packaged in a common covering comprising the built-in layer and the gas purging plug.
- a metallurgical vessel (1) has a refractory lining (2) into which a perforated brick (3) is inserted.
- the perforated brick (3) is provided with a conical opening (4).
- An outer jacket (5) is arranged on the outside of the vessel (1).
- the opening (4) is provided for the use of a frustoconical gas purge cone (6). This is shown in Figure 4 and shown in dashed lines in Figure 1.
- a conical annular gap (7) results which must be filled out.
- An installation layer (8) is provided. This is prefabricated in the shape of the annular gap (7). In its prefabricated state, the built-in layer (8) does not exactly have the shape of the annular gap (7), but is designed in such a way that when the gas purge cone (6) is installed in the opening (4), the shape of the annular gap (7 ) adapts.
- the built-in layer (8) preformed in a conical ring shape consists of a mass (9) which withstands the temperature occurring during operation of the vessel (1).
- the mass (9) of the built-in layer (8) is enclosed in a casing (10) if the mass (9) is not sufficiently stable in shape or volume prior to the installed state.
- the casing (10) consists, for example, of paper, a plastic film or a metallic film.
- the casing (10) is in any case designed in such a way that when the gas purging cone (6) is pushed into the opening (4) it does not impede the complete filling of the annular gap (7) then created by the mass (9).
- the envelope (10) can optionally be provided with corresponding predetermined breaking points, in particular along a predetermined tear line at its front edges (11 or 12).
- the gas purging cone (6) carrying the installation layer (8) is inserted into the opening (4) in the correct position at the installation location.
- the then created annular gap (7) fills the built-in layer (8).
- the built-in layer (8) is first inserted into the opening (4) and fixed in it, and only then is the gas purge cone (6) inserted.
- the mass (9) of the built-in layer (8) can consist of a mass which, after the gas purging cone (6) has been inserted into the opening (4), expands when the lining (2) is heated, so that it inflates the annular gap ( 7) Fills out completely.
- the mass (9) can also be chosen so that it is plastically deformable at least when the gas purging cone (6) is inserted into the opening (4).
- the built-in layer (8) can also consist of ceramic fiber material that can be compressed when the gas purging cone (6) is inserted into the perforated brick (3).

Abstract
