Definitions

  • the invention relates to a chair, in particular a work chair, with a seat which is fastened to a support having an inclination angle so as to be pivotable about an axis of rotation, a torsion spring device which is arranged coaxially with the axis of rotation and which strives to move the seat from a lower pivot position to an upper pivot position , Means for adjusting the pretension of the torsion spring device, and a blocking device arranged between the support and the seat, in order to block the seat in at least two different swivel positions.
  • a chair has been on the market for about twenty years.
  • the support extending obliquely forward from the standpipe is relatively short.
  • the blocking device has only a lower and an upper blocking position. So the chair cannot be blocked in any intermediate positions.
  • the known chair has a device with which the bias of the torsion spring device can be changed according to the weight of the user.
  • the adjusting screw of this device is so inaccessibly arranged under the seat that it cannot be operated by the user of the chair while sitting.
  • a chair is known from EP-A-0 281 749, which has a mounting plate for receiving the seat.
  • the front face of the mounting plate is attached to a support that rises at an angle from a vertical support tube and can be pivoted about a horizontal axis of rotation.
  • a gas spring is arranged between the support and the support plate in a direction approximately at right angles to the direction of the support. This gas spring serves both as a spring, which strives to mount a lower plate To move swivel position into an upper swivel position, as well as a blocking device for blocking the mounting plate and the seat arranged thereon in any swivel position desired by the user of the chair.
  • a helical spring is arranged coaxially with it.
  • the pre-tension of the coil spring can be adjusted according to the weight of the user via a wing nut arranged below the seat in the middle via a two-armed lever. Because of the unfavorable arrangement of the wing nut below the seat, however, this weight regulation cannot be carried out while sitting.
  • the chair described also has the disadvantage that the arrangement of the gas spring and the coil spring is clearly visible. This is unsatisfactory for aesthetic reasons. This disadvantage is particularly significant because in recent times there have been extremely high aesthetic demands on office chairs.
  • the chairs described also lack serviceability. It has been shown in practice that the adjustment mechanisms of modern chairs function without problems for years without service, but that an element, e.g. the gas spring, or the mechanism needs to be lubricated. Ease of service is therefore also of considerable importance for office chairs.
  • the blocking device is a gas spring or a hydraulic blocking element and that the gas spring or the hydraulic blocking element has the general inclination direction of the support, but a larger inclination angle than the support owns.
  • This has the advantage that the gas spring or the blocking element can run largely in the same direction as the support, so that it or it is practically invisible from the outside. Thanks to the use of a torsion spring device, a coil spring can be dispensed with. The invention therefore enables an aesthetically particularly appealing chair construction.
  • the means for adjusting the pretension of the torsion spring device have a wedge which can be adjusted by means of an adjusting screw and via which the force of the torsion spring device is transmitted to the seat.
  • This enables the pretension to be adjusted in a simple and convenient manner. So it is possible to arrange the set screw below the seat so that it has its adjustment button on one side of the seat. This side arrangement of the adjustment button enables easy operation by the user of the chair. He can adjust the preload of the torsion spring device to his weight by turning the adjustment knob.
  • the adjusting knob on the shaft of the adjusting screw is advantageously axially displaceable, so that it can be pulled beyond the seat edge to adjust the pretension. This makes operation even easier. After the desired setting of the preload, the adjustment button can then be pushed in again so that it does not have a disturbing effect.
  • the seat can be pivoted by practically 180 degrees around the axis of rotation after loosening a fastening element of the gas spring or the hydraulic blocking element. This has the advantage that all parts of the mechanism are then easily accessible.
  • Support, torsion spring device, means for adjusting the pretension of the torsion spring device, gas spring or hydraulic blocking element and seat frame advantageously form a structural unit. This brings considerable advantages in the manufacture of the chair.
  • the unit described can be placed on a unit consisting of a base and a standpipe in a short time.
  • the torsion spring device has a torsion bar that extends practically over the entire seat width, that each end of the torsion bar is connected to a tube piece arranged practically coaxially to the torsion bar, that one tube piece with a force transmission arm and the other Pipe piece is connected to the support and that the seat frame is pivotally mounted on the pipe pieces.
  • the relatively long torsion bar has the advantage of a favorable spring characteristic.
  • the pipe section, which is connected to the force transmission arm, is expediently rotatably supported at one end in the support. This results in a particularly stable construction.
  • the work chair shown in Figures 1 and 2 consists essentially of the base 11, the standpipe 13, the assembly 15 fastened to the standpipe 13, the seat 17 placed on the assembly, which is optionally provided with a backrest 19.
  • the backrest 19 is advantageously connected to the seat 17 by spring joints.
  • the structural unit 15 essentially consists of the support 21, the torsion spring device 23, the means 25 for adjusting the pretension of the torsion spring device 23, the blocking device 27 and the seat frame 29.
  • the blocking device is indicated only by the dash-dotted connecting line 27 'between the two articulation points 31 and 33 for the sake of clarity.
  • a rigid or elastically lockable gas spring or a hydraulic blocking element can serve as the blocking device 27.
  • gas springs are commercially available, for example, under the name "B-O-L”.
  • a well-known hydraulic blocking element is sold under the "Hydrobloc" brand.
  • the blocking device 27 can be activated by the user of the chair via the button 28 and e.g. a Bowden train 30 can be unblocked.
  • the support 21 (FIG. 3) has a flange 35 for attachment to the standpipe 13.
  • the support 21 extends obliquely upwards from the standpipe 13, where the seat frame 29 is articulated at its end.
  • Reference number 37 shows the axis of rotation about which the seat frame 29 can be pivoted. This axis of rotation 37 is located in the immediate vicinity of the front edge of the seat.
  • the structure of the torsion spring device 23 results from the schematic illustration 4.
  • the torsion spring device 23 has a torsion bar 39 which extends practically over the entire seat width.
  • Each end of the torsion bar 39 is fixedly connected by means of a pin-like fastening element 41, 42 to a tube piece 43 or 44 arranged coaxially to the torsion bar 39.
  • a force transmission arm 45 is fixedly connected to the pipe section 44.
  • the pipe section 43 is fixedly connected to the support 21 by means of a pin 47.
  • the pipe section 44 is rotatably supported in the support 21 by means of a
  • the means, shown in particular in FIG. 5, for adjusting the pretension of the torsion spring 39 essentially consist of a wedge 53 which can be adjusted by the adjusting screw 51 and on which the force transmission arm 45 rests.
  • the force transmission arm 45 thus strives to move the seat frame 29 upward. Such movement is prevented by the gas spring 27 or the blocking element as long as it is not unblocked by the user of the chair.
  • the set screw 51 is mounted in two eyes 55, 57 of the seat frame 29 and secured with nuts 59.
  • an adjustment button 63 is axially displaceable. To actuate the adjusting screw 51, the adjusting button 63 can therefore be pulled out into the position shown in FIG. 5. In this position, the adjustment button 63, which protrudes laterally under the seat 17, can be easily operated to adapt the chair to the body weight of the user.
  • the torsion spring device 23 exerts a force on the wedge 53 by means of the force transmission arm 45 (FIGS. 4 and 5). This force is transmitted from this wedge 53 to the seat frame 29 and thus to the seat 17. The force mentioned tends to bring the seat 17 into the upper position, which corresponds approximately to the position shown in FIG. 1. Usually, however, the seat 17 by the gas spring 27 or another blocking device in the blocked position. To unlock, the user can press the button 28, so that the gas spring 27 is unlocked via the Bowden cable 30, a hydraulic line or a lever mechanism. By shifting the weight, the user can now pivot the seat 17 into the desired position. When the button 28 is released, the seat 17 is then blocked in this position.
  • the preload of the torsion spring device 23 is adaptable to the weight of the user.
  • the user reaches for the adjustment button 63 arranged laterally under the seat 17, pulls it along the shaft 61 into the outermost position shown in FIG. 5 and then turns the adjustment button 63.
  • the wedge 53 is thereby displaced by means of the adjustment screw 51. If the shift takes place to the right (FIG. 5), the force transmission arm 45 is shifted downward and the torsion spring device 23 is thereby preloaded more strongly. If the user subsequently presses the button 28, the seat 17 is raised with a greater force than was previously the case.
  • the adjustment button 63 can be moved along the shaft 61 under the seat 17 again.
  • a fastening element 32 e.g. a bolt for the gas spring 27 to loosen at the articulation point 31, whereupon the seat 17 can be pivoted into the position shown in FIG. 2, in which the various elements of the mechanics are easily accessible and, if necessary, can also be removed without problems.
  • the chair according to the invention is therefore very easy to service.
  • a support 21 is arranged on the standpipe 13 of the base. This has an angle of inclination which allows the seat 17 to be lowered from the position shown.
  • a torsion spring device 23 strives to pivot the seat upward about the axis of rotation 37.
  • a gas spring 27 serves as a blocking device, which can be released with the button 28.
  • the gas spring 27 has the general direction of inclination of the support 21, but a larger angle of inclination than the support 21, so that a chair construction is created in which the central space below the seat 17 remains free of mechanical parts.
  • the chair therefore meets high aesthetic standards.
  • an adjusting screw 51 which has an axially displaceable adjusting button 63, the chair user can pretension the torsion spring device 23 according to its weight.
