- wire stitching is the material application through the clip in the back. This limits the stackability of the products. Decisive for the success of this binding method are, for example, the paper quality, the type of bundle (only text or text with pictures), the type of adhesive (dispersion or hot melt adhesive) and the wettability of the printed paper.
- the drying speed is particularly critical with this method, in which the back is wetted. This depends on the thickness of the adhesive application, the absorbency and the size of the paper. For example, air currents or the action of an electrical high-frequency field are used to accelerate drying.
- the adhesive can be applied either cold or at an elevated temperature.
- the task thus arises to develop a method which allows paper layers to be glued simultaneously, without having to accept disadvantages, such as cutting the back before gluing or gluing the individual sheets before assembly.
