Description

The present invention relates to ventilation or aeration and / or lighting devices intended to be placed on the wall of buildings, most commonly on the roof.

Devices of this type are known such as skylights, snuff windows, or smoke vents. These devices, in addition to their specific functions, all have an imperative which is the tightness of their connection to the wall on which they are fixed. For the sake of simplification, the terms "roof" or "roof" will be used for these walls in the following description, it being understood that the devices concerned, although essentially applying to roofs, can also be placed on substantially vertical walls.

These devices are therefore placed on the roof and, in general, these roofs have a relief intended to stiffen the roof elements, and to guide the water flows. Frequently, this relief is in the form of ribs, directed along the greatest slope of the roof.

For the installation of ventilation or lighting devices, an opening of corresponding size is provided or made in the roof; the device is placed so as to cover this opening, and is fixed to the roof. Means intended to ensure the seal between the roof and the frame or the chassis of the device are provided.

This type of seal has several drawbacks. On the one hand, it requires during production, a relatively long labor time, this being aggravated due to the known difficulties of working at height on roofs. On the other hand, it is difficult to obtain a regular seal, and, in addition to an unattractive appearance, there is a risk of obtaining a doubtful seal, especially since the thickness of the seal may be significant in the case of a pronounced roof relief

Other means are known to try to improve the connection between the frame of the device and the roof. We know in particular devices whose frame is shaped according to the relief of the roof, and therefore constitutes an element integrating into the roof. However, these devices can only be prefabricated or molded in the case of plastic constructions, and therefore can only be adapted to a single profile of roof elements. It is then necessary for the manufacturer either to make these devices on demand, or to store a large number of different models provided to adapt to each type of roof. These two solutions are obviously not satisfactory from an economic point of view.

It is also specified that an important aspect in these devices is the material in which they are made. Taking into account the fact that these devices are directly subjected to weather, sun, wind, the weight of snow, etc., their constituent material must be able to withstand all these constraints.

The present invention aims to solve the various aforementioned problems, and to provide a device having very good qualities of resistance to weathering and sealing against rain and wind when it is placed on the wall of a building.

To achieve these goals, it is proposed a ventilation or lighting device intended to be placed on the wall of a building and more particularly on the roof, of the type comprising a fixed frame, and means of connection and sealing between this chassis and said wall. According to the invention, the device is characterized in that the frame is made up of a rigid frame externally coated with metal sheets, the lower part of which forms a curb whose two lateral sides match the shape of the panels of the wall, the side upper (in the direction of the wall) is flat and located at a height corresponding to the low areas of the profile of the panels to be placed below them, the lower side has a flat part at a height corresponding to the high areas of the profile of the panels to be placed above them, and the flat part extending by an edge folded down and cut so as to match the profile of the panels, closers made of compressible material preformed according to said profile, being arranged between the roof panels and said lower and upper sides.

Advantageously, the outer covering forming a curb consists of four sheets (one per side of the frame) of prepainted aluminum, the four sheets being interconnected by folding at the corners.

Advantageously also, the upper and lower sides of the curb have a curved middle part respectively connecting their flat parts to their upper parts covering the frame.

Thanks to the different characteristics expressed above, the device according to the invention has a remarkable seal and its installation is greatly facilitated by the fact that the specific sealing closers for the different profiles of roofing panels are prefabricated, and that, apart from cutting the folded edge on the lower side of the curb , it can be adapted to many panel profiles, provided, of course, that these do not have profiles of too different heights.

Other characteristics and advantages will become apparent from the description which will be given by way of example of an embodiment of the invention, applied to overhead lighting devices for covered premises.

It is specified that, in order to facilitate the reading of the various drawings, these are not all executed on the same scale and for greater clarity, certain elements have been represented only schematically.

To facilitate understanding of the invention, the device and the two upper 5 and lower 2 panels, are shown offset from each other. It is easily understood that, once the installation is complete, the lower side 11 is above the panel 2, and the panel 5 is above the upper side 12.

The device comprises a rigid frame 20 with walls perpendicular to the mean plane of the roof, externally coated with sheets 33, 34, 35 and 36 of prepainted aluminum. The two sheets 34 and 36 forming the lateral sides 13 and 14, are folded to form the ribs 15 and 16 so as to match the profile of the ribs of the roofing panels, and cover the ribs 6 and 7 located at the edges of the opening 4. A joint strip 17 is interposed between the ribs 15 and 16 of the lateral sides 13 and 14 and the ribs 6 and 7 of the panels, before fixing by screwing by means of self-tapping screws 49.

The sheet 35 has a solid part forming the upper side 12 in the same plane as the non-ribbed parts of the lateral sides 13 and 14, and is placed below the edge of the upper panel 5, a sealing profile 18, preformed according to the profile of the roofing panels, being inserted at the level of the covering. The fixing is also ensured by screws 49, in the hollow areas 5a of the panel 5.

The sheet 33 forming the lower side 11 has a flat face 19, offset in height relative to the side 12, by a distance corresponding to the height of the ribs 6 and 7 of the panels 2. In this way, this flat face 19 comes to cover the edge of the lower panel 2, and is extended by an edge 21 folded down substantially at a right angle and comprising cutouts 22 in the shapes of the profile of the panel 2, the edge 21 thus being able to precisely match said profile. A sealing counter-profile 23 (not visible in FIG. 1) is interposed between the flat face 19 and the edge of the panel 2 which it covers, the fixing being ensured by screws 49 placed only at the ribs of said panel .

The connections between the four sheets 33, 34, 35 and 36 are provided by folding 24 and 25; the folds being always carried out so as not to constitute an obstacle to the flow of water. Thus the fold 24 will be folded down to the lateral side, and the fold 25 will be folded down towards the lower side.

The elements previously described are found in the other figures. The drawing of Figure 2 also shows the constitution of the structure ensuring the rigidity of the device. We see the frame 20 consisting of panels 26 of plywood or similar material, coated internally and over its entire height, with prepainted aluminum sheets 27 and 28. These sheets are folded at their lower parts 29 and 30 to cover the edge lower of the panels 26. The lower part 29 extends parallel to the upper 12 or lateral 13 and 14 sides (see FIG. 3) with the interposition of a layer of rigid insulating material 31. The lower part 30 of the sheet 28 corresponds to the side lower 19, is folded a second time upwards to form a fold 32. This arrangement is in particular provided to facilitate the positioning of the device in the opening of the roof, the upper side 12 being able to be slid under the upper panel 5, and the lower side 11 can come to be applied on the lower panel 2, the fold 32 not constituting discomfort, and even possibly being able to constitute a guide during the introduction of the frame is in the opening of the roof.

It will be noted that the inner aluminum sheets 27 and 28, and the outer sheets 33, 34, 35 and 36 are not in contact, and therefore do not do not create a thermal bridge the sheets 35 and 33 are bent along a rounded radius to facilitate flows.

In the right part of FIG. 3 and in FIG. 4 is shown a variant of the invention suitable for insulating roofs. In this variant, the panels 26 of the chassis 20 extend downwards by a distance corresponding to the thickness of the layer of insulating material 31 ′ which is provided to correspond to the thickness of the insulation in place under the roof. .

Note in FIG. 4 that the lower part 29 ′ of the inner covering 27 covers all the insulation, the latter being held by gluing on said part 29 ′, as well as on the edge 12 of the outer sheet 35. It will be noted that there is no thermal bridge, the aluminum sheets inside and outside meeting in no place.

On the lower side (on the right of Figure 4), we will note the absence of insulation, the insulation being carried out at this location by the insulating material in place under the roof.

We will now describe the particular characteristics of the application of the invention to an overhead lighting device. In this application, a translucent panel 51 of plastic material of the triple-walled cellular polycarbonate type is fitted to the frame 20 in order to seal the opening in a sealed manner, while allowing a maximum of natural light to pass through. In addition, the triple-walled alveolar polycarbonate is remarkable for its lightness, its good coefficient of thermal insulation, its resistance to thermal and mechanical shocks, and good preservation of these characteristics during aging. This material being already known, it is simply recalled that it is formed from three parallel sheets 51a, 51b, 51c spaced apart and connected by longitudinal ribs 51d and 51e which define cells 51f between them.

According to the particular application of the invention, the translucent panel is mounted in a frame 52 made of aluminum profiles which fits on the upper edge of the frame 20.

The aluminum profile 52 ′ has a preferred section such as that shown in FIG. 6. It notably has an upper tab 53, directed towards the inside of the frame and under which the edge of the translucent panel 51 is slid. The upper sheet 51a of the panel is in contact with the edge of this tongue, while the lower sheet presses on a seal 54 housed in a recess 55 of the profile 52. A clearance is reserved over the entire periphery of the panel between the latter and the vertical part 56 , linked to the tongue 53 of the profile, so as to allow the panel to expand freely.

In addition, holes 57 are made in the profile located on the lower side of the device to allow the evacuation of any condensate, or infiltration between the upper face of the translucent panel and the tongue 53.

At the longitudinal ends of the panel 51, that is to say on the edges where the cells 51f open, an angle 58 is glued by one of its wings 58a under the edge of the upper sheet 51a. The other wing 58b of the angle iron extends down over the entire thickness of the panel 51, is pressed against the edge of the panel and seals the cells in a non-leaktight manner. This system allows the circulation of air and the evacuation of condensates which can be created in the alveoli, but on the other hand limits the penetration and proliferation of microorganisms or insects in it.

The profile 52 also comprises on each side of the recess 55 receiving the joint 54, two walls 59 and 60 perpendicular to the plane of the panel, and forming with the bottom of the recess 55 a rib in the shape of an inverted U which covers the upper edge of the frame 20. Between the wall 59 located towards the outside of the frame 52 and the aluminum sheets covering the outside of the frame is interposed a seal 62 ensuring the seal between frame and frame.

The frame is fixed to the frame by screws 63 passing through the wall 60 and screwed from the inside into the panels 26 of the frame 20.

The frame profiles are cut at the tab and assembled by self-tapping screws 64 crossing a profile and axially screwed in grooves 65 of circular section three in number made respectively on each side of the recess 55, and downwards. the wall 59.

In the central part of the drawing of FIG. 6 is shown an additional possibility of using the profile 52 ′ forming the frame 52. The profile 52˝ is here rotated by 90 ° so as to present the wall 60 upwards. This wall has a recess 66 similar to the recess 55 in which a seal is placed, and it is placed in contact with the underside of the translucent panel 51. This arrangement is particularly intended for lighting devices having a large surface, the additional profile being placed in an intermediate position to support the panel 51, for example towards its middle, and prevent it from bending. This intermediate section is fixed in a similar manner to that described above for assembling the frame 52, by screws 67 passing through the frame and screwed into the grooves 65 of the profile.

The invention is not limited to the lighting device described above by way of example. In particular, it can be applied to other devices intended to ensure the passage, for example through a roof, of a chimney or ventilation duct. The frame can also receive the sleeping frame of a window or a smoke outlet; it is also specified that the device is not reserved for roofs or walls formed from ribbed panels, but can also be used on traditional roofs such as tiles, slates, etc.
