As soon as the expansion cone 25 with its end-side anti-rotation device 30 comes into contact with the bottom of the borehole 31, further rotation of the shaft 27 causes the expansion cone 25 to be drawn into the expansion element 26 and this spreads it out. If the maximum spreading effect is reached, the pressure on the intermediate ring 28 increases, which deforms when the pressure is correspondingly high, thereby limiting or damping the increase in torque.
