Definitions
- the invention relates to a oarlock for rowing boats, in particular for sport and racing rowing boats, which has the task, on the one hand, to transmit the forces generated by the muscular work of the rower to propel the boat, and, on the other hand, to permit the circular movement of the rudder necessary for the rudder stroke.
- a oarlock for rowing boats in particular for sport and racing rowing boats, which has the task, on the one hand, to transmit the forces generated by the muscular work of the rower to propel the boat, and, on the other hand, to permit the circular movement of the rudder necessary for the rudder stroke.
- the previously known designs for example: L. Neville, European Patent No. 0 035 876, Hyundai, European Patent No. 0 061 200, WA Rettig, Patent No. 24553, Sheet IV, Figs. 9-11, Wilhelm Reuss, Das Ruderers' sports equipment, Kläsing & CO publishing house, exclusive delivery from Albrecht Philler Verlag, Minden, Hamburg 1959, pages 7, 15
- the rudder was intended to accommodate the oarlock around a pin fixedly mounted on an outrigger, so that the rudder comes to rest on the leg of the oarlock which surrounds the pin and is formed as a support surface when the blade passes through the water.
- the rear leg of the oarlock which is remote from the pin, serves as a stopper leg for the reverse movement of the oar stroke.
- MFDavis patent specification No. 86460, HWFairbrass and F. Cundall, patent specification No. 120918, FIGS. 6 and 7, Dr.
- the fixed pin is replaced by two weight-saving partial pins connected by a bracket and connected by the oarlock at the upper and lower end and the oarlock at the upper and lower end of the contact leg.
- the fixed pin in the second mentioned embodiment the two connected partial pins form the axis about which the oarlock rotates when the oar strikes.
- the invention has for its object to avoid the increase in the actual oarlock distance when "going to the display" and to enable the rower, despite the anatomically limited maximum rear and bow ranges of the hand on the rudder, the largest possible display angle to reach.
- This object is achieved according to the invention in that the oarlocks are manufactured in such a way that they move on the bow side of the axle, and the rudder rests against the leg of the oarlock when the blade is pulled through the water.
- the leg of the oarlock which is remote from the axis, is designed as a contact leg with a correspondingly large area.
- the lever closing the oarlock is designed so that it can transmit the tensile forces that occur.
- the advantages achieved by the invention are, in particular, that the actual oar spacing when "going into the display" is reduced, and a larger display angle is thereby achieved.
- the area of the final train less interesting for the propulsion of the boat, i.e. in the forward reverse position of the hand is reduced, the swept angle remains the same due to the same position of the axis. This also enables smaller rowers to reach out angles that were otherwise reserved for the anatomically preferred large rowers.
- the oarlock which is directed towards the bow, is rotatably mounted on an oarlock pin (2), which is mounted on a boom head (1).
- the rudder (3) comes to rest on the bow-side leg (4) during pulling.
- This is provided with a corresponding contact surface, which on the one hand is so large that it ensures permanent operation without wear, and on the other hand is shaped so that the rounded work surfaces (5) guide the rudder (3) against tilting when levering vertically in the reversing positions .
- the tensile forces that occur are transmitted through the lower leg (6) and the locking lever (7) to the oarlock pin (2).
- the locking lever (7) is to be non-positively connected to the bow leg (4) by means of the fitting nut (8).
- the axle pin (9) allows the oarlock to be opened and closed.
- the lock nut (10) ensures that the front leg (4) remains in the same position and also prevents loose sliding.
- the stopper leg (11), like the lower leg (6), is profiled to save weight.
- the oarlock surrounds the oarlock pin (2) over the entire surface. Fig. 4 of the drawing illustrates the operation of this oarlock.
- the oarlock is rotatably seated on an oar pin (2) mounted on a bracket (12).
- the boom is firmly connected to the boat (13), which moves in the direction of travel (14).
- the reversal points of the rudder in the display (15) and in the supine position (16) are anatomical and are assumed to be fixed here. If the rower moves the rudder (3) from (15) to (16), he will cover the angle (17). This angle is of the same size as the current state of the art, but is located at the bow end of the rudder in the oarlock by the angle (18) compared to the reverse positions after State of the art (19) moved further into the display. As a result, the hydrodynamic conditions on the blade (20) can be better used, which ultimately equates to a higher boat speed. Due to the constant position of the oarlock pin (2) and the design of the oarlock shown, the majority of the current boats can be converted inexpensively and without difficulty, which is very beneficial to equal opportunities, especially when racing.

Description
Patent Nr. 0 035 876, Yamaha, Europ. Patent Nr. 0 061 200, W.A.
- Fig. 1 : Ansicht von der Seite
- Fig. 2 : Ansicht von Oben
- Fig. 3 : Ansicht vom Bug
- Fig. 4 : Arbeitsweise der Dolle beim Ruderschlag von Oben gesehen.
