Definitions
- the invention relates to a decorative material, which on a material to be decorated, for. B. textile material, can be applied, with a carrier film and a patterned by means of screen printing hot melt adhesive layer.
- the invention further relates to a method for producing this decorative material.
- a method for producing a decorative material according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from the prior art. For this purpose, reference is made to GB-A-2 065 031.
- the object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages mentioned above and to provide a simple method for producing a decorative material with which differently shaped and different types of decorative materials can be made available.
- the invention is based on the knowledge that this object can be achieved by using screen printing technology for the production of the decorative materials.
- the invention relates to a decorative material, applicable to a material to be decorated, for. B. textile material, with a carrier film and a hot-melt adhesive layer applied in a pattern by means of screen printing technology, characterized in that a hot-melt adhesive layer is applied in a pattern by means of screen printing technology to a decorative film which comprises at least one carrier film and an effect layer, the effect layer being a has a thickness such that when the carrier film is peeled off after application it tears at the boundary between areas coated with hot melt and areas not coated with hot melt.
- Advantageous designs result from the subclaims.
- the invention further relates to a method for producing a decorative material, a pattern of hotmelt adhesive being applied in a pattern by means of screen printing technology to a decorative film which comprises at least one carrier film and an effect layer, on the side opposite the carrier film, the effect layer having a thickness such that it when the carrier film is peeled off after application, it tears at the boundary between areas coated with hot melt and areas not coated with hot melt.
- the screen printing technique a simple and sophisticated printing technique, allows the most varied of surface ornaments to be displayed in a simple manner.
- a large number of isolated teapot surfaces, such as circles, squares, etc., as well as arbitrarily designed, flatly coherent ornaments and figurative representations of any shape are equally feasible.
- the screen printing technique can be applied to any surface area and can be carried out continuously. It is easy to change motifs.
- the screen printing technique itself is generally known.
- the hot-melt adhesive layer can be applied to the decorative film in various ways. According to a preferred embodiment, a hot melt adhesive dispersion is applied in a pattern to the decorative film and then dried.
- a liquid binder is first applied to the decorative film in a pattern and then in a more particulate, i.e. powdered hot melt adhesive applied, which then adheres to the areas provided with binder, while it does not stick to the areas not provided with binder or can be easily removed, for example by suction.
- a more particulate i.e. powdered hot melt adhesive applied
- the effect layer can be removed in those areas that are not filled with hot melt adhesive. This can be achieved with galvanic processes, for example. This way of working has the advantage that the pattern is visible.
- the hot melt adhesive should be applied evenly across the surface. For some applications, it is advantageous to solidify and smooth the hot melt adhesive layer. This is done by melting the hot melt adhesive.
- the decorative material is particularly suitable for textiles. Due to the possible very thin layer thickness, the wearing properties and the fall of the textile material are not impaired. Due to the arbitrary flat design of the decorative material, textile decorations that were previously not possible can also be carried out on a large scale.
- the decorative material is placed on the textile material with the hotmelt adhesive layer facing downward, and the hotmelt adhesive is activated by the application of heat, for example by hot pressing, so that it bonds with the textile material.
- the film is then peeled off and only those effect areas remain on the textile that are fixed by the hot melt adhesive will.
- the decorative surfaces thus correspond to the hot melt adhesive applied in a pattern using screen printing technology.
- FIG. 2 A preferred embodiment of the decorative material produced according to the invention is illustrated in FIG. 2.
- hotmelt adhesives which guarantee good adhesion between the decorative material and the objects to which it is to be applied are suitable for the hotmelt adhesive layer 2.
- hot melt adhesives are polyamides, polyvinyl acetate, polyester resins, epoxy resins, isocyanates and aminoplasts.
- Hot melt adhesives based on thermoplastic polyamide resins are particularly preferred.
- the thickness of the hot melt adhesive layer can vary within wide limits depending on the application. It is preferably in the range between 10 and 200 m, in particular around 100ujn.
- Binder layer 7 is optionally located between hot melt adhesive layer 2 and effect layer 6. This layer 7 should be distinguished by temperature resistance and dimensional stability. The temperature resistance must be sufficiently high so that when the hot-melt adhesive layer is activated, this layer is not impaired and maintains its gloss. The dimensional stability is therefore important so that the structure of the fabric is not pushed through when the decorative material is applied to the textile. An aluminum foil can also perform this function of the binder layer. Epoxy resins or 20 polyesters are preferably used as binders. The thickness is preferably in the range from 10 to 200 pm, in particular around 100 pm.
- the overall thickness of the decorative material is chosen to be as thin as possible in order to impair the properties of the textile and its wearing properties as little as possible.
- a further hot melt adhesive layer can optionally be provided between the binder layer 7 and the effect layer 6 in order to ensure a better connection of the first-mentioned layers.
- the effect layer 6 is preferably a metal effect layer. It consists in particular of a metal vapor deposition layer.
- a metal vapor deposition layer The production of such coatings from metals, metal oxides or metal salts, which can be done for example by thermal evaporation in a vacuum, electron beam or cathode sputtering, is known. These layers are generally very thin and are of the order of 0.5 to 5 ⁇ m, in particular 2 to 4 .m.
- the vapor deposition layer can be given a certain color, in particular the characteristic interference colors. This design enables special aesthetic effects to be achieved.
- metal foils in particular aluminum foils, can be used as effect layers.
- the metal layer consists of a gold leaf layer. This makes it possible to create particularly valuable decorative materials, especially for textiles but also leather goods and other items. Instead of real gold leaf, impact metal can also be used.
- Color layers in particular plastic lacquer layers and acrylic color layers, are also suitable as effect layers.
- a protective layer 5 is preferably applied to the effect layer 6.
- This protective layer is usually a transparent protective lacquer. On the one hand, this has the function of protecting the effect layer, in particular of making the decorative material resistant to washing and cleaning.
- a colored lacquer layer can preferably also be applied in order to give the effect layer 6 a specific color.
- the protective layer must not be able to be activated thermally, i. H. the protective layer must not be impaired when the hot-melt adhesive layer is activated.
- Epoxy paints are particularly suitable.
- the effect layer and protective layer or colored lacquer layer are thin so that when the carrier film is peeled off after application, they tear at the boundary between areas coated with hot melt adhesive and areas not coated with hot melt adhesive, so that ultimately only the desired pattern-shaped areas remain on the substrate.
- Primer layers may be present between the individual layers, which in particular contribute to the better bonding of the layers.
- the carrier film 3 is generally a self-adhesive film with an adhesive layer 4. Conventional self-adhesive films are suitable. Transparent polyester films 10-20 ⁇ m thick are preferred.
