Definitions

  • Apparatus for removing sheets from a stack and for transporting the sheets away from the stack with an endlessly circulating belt which is provided with a plurality of openings which each open into recesses which run transversely to the surface of the belt and open towards the sheets, and with a guide block which is stationary with respect to the stack, in the guide surface of which a groove is recessed, the depth of which essentially corresponds to the strip thickness and the width of which essentially corresponds to the strip width, and which has a suction opening which can be connected to a vacuum source and which is assigned to the openings in the strip.
  • Such a device known from DD-A-10 841, has a suction belt, the arch contact surface of which is provided with a plurality of recesses which are delimited to the outside, which are connected to suction openings provided in the suction belt and between which webs supporting the arch are present, which creates a vacuum surface extending to the outer edges of the sheet contact surface, which ensures suction of the sheets without deforming them.
  • the recesses are formed by knurling.
  • the suction openings can have groove-shaped extensions which extend in the direction of tape travel, in order to thereby connect a larger area of recesses to the respective suction opening.
  • the respective suction openings are connected to the vacuum source via a suction nozzle, which can be arranged in a guide block.
  • a device for the optional removal of letters in two directions with the help of two parallel flat construction belts is known, which are endlessly guided by guide rollers and provided with openings. These openings are assigned suction openings in a guide block, which can be connected to a suction chamber with the interposition of a slide, which can be connected to a vacuum source.
  • the suction belts run in recesses in the guide block such that they are flush with the outer surface of the guide block on the arc side.
  • a device for separating sheets to be removed from a stack is also known (US Pat. No. 4,361,317), in which a suction tape provided with perforations is guided over a concavely curved surface of a suction box, in which parallel slits extending in the direction of tape travel are provided. via which the vacuum acts on the sheet to be removed through the openings in the suction belt.
  • the vacuum is applied rhythmically to the suction box, i.e. in a timing control, in order to avoid a direct succession of sheets.
  • the object on which the invention is based is therefore to design the device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that when a weak vacuum is used, a large suction force can be achieved in a predetermined areal distribution and dynamic range.
  • the recesses are formed by chambers which are delimited by two adjacent teeth of a toothed belt forming the endless belt and by the groove side walls, at least one opening being provided between each two teeth, and that a recess is provided which adjoins the suction opening and extends in the guide block in the direction of the sheet run and is associated with the openings.
  • the device according to the invention it is possible to use low vacuums of, for example, 0.3 bar, as can be generated with a side channel compressor, and nevertheless achieve a large suction force due to the large suction area, which is caused by the vacuum within the chambers between the teeth of the Timing belt and the groove side walls come into effect.
  • the valve is arranged directly on the guide block in association with the suction opening and the vacuum to be evacuated is therefore small, furthermore because the vacuum initially forms primarily in the suction chambers above the suction opening directly connected to the valve.
  • An adjustment of the suction zone is also possible in that the groove side walls end at a distance from the tape run-off side of the guide block, since this removes the lateral guidance of the toothed belt and thus also the lateral limitation of the suction zone before the end of the guide block.
  • the length of the transport path over the device receiving the sheet can be adjusted without changing the spatial assignment of the device carrying the sheet stack and the device receiving the sheet discharged from the device, usually an alignment table .
  • the device according to the invention can also be used for the removal of sheets from the underside of a stack. This makes it possible to remove folded sheets coming from a folding machine at a right angle, to collect them in a stack forming a buffer and to continuously remove them from this stack for further processing. In spite of right-angled sheet deflection, overall, very high sheet throughput speeds can be achieved by one system.
  • the described device according to the invention enables a considerable increase in the number of sheets transported per hour, which is of the order of 60,000, since the valve switching times can be kept very short.
  • the suction of air through the toothed belt against the guide surface of the guide block ensures that an air cushion is always present between the toothed belt surface on the guide surface and the guide surface, so that there is no direct contact between the toothed belt and the guide surface and the toothed belt runs smoothly over the guide surface .
  • the device shown in FIG. 1 is arranged above a sheet stack 1, from which the uppermost sheet 2 is to be removed and transported away.
  • the device consists of a drive roller 3 and two guide rollers 4 and 5 and a tension roller 6, over which an endless belt in the form of a toothed belt 15 is guided.
  • the rollers are mounted on a plate 8, on which a mounting flange 9 is attached, which can be fixed with the help of holes 10 on a machine part, not shown.
  • the tensioning roller 6 is adjustable in an elongated hole 7 in the plate 8.
  • the device is positioned so that the toothed belt 15 rotates between the guide rollers 4 and 5 essentially parallel above the stack 1.
  • the toothed belt 15 is guided over a flat guide surface of a guide block 11, which is formed by the bottom of a groove 16 in the guide block 11 on the side facing the stack 1.
  • the guide block 11 extends with an inlet section over the stack 1 and projects with an outlet section over the stack 1, the running direction of the toothed belt 15 being illustrated by the arrows 28.
  • the toothed belt 15 has teeth 21 arranged at a distance, which form chambers 22 between them, into each of which an opening 17 provided between two teeth 21 opens.
  • the chambers 22 are laterally delimited by groove side walls 25.
  • a suction opening 18 opens into the bottom of the groove 16 and merges into a bore 19.
  • valve 12 which is connected via a vacuum opening 14 to a vacuum source, not shown, for example a side channel compressor, and which has an electrically controlled control part 13.
  • a vacuum source not shown, for example a side channel compressor
  • a vacuum source not shown, for example a side channel compressor
  • a vacuum source not shown, for example a side channel compressor
  • a vacuum source not shown, for example a side channel compressor
  • a vacuum source not shown, for example a side channel compressor
  • Fig. 3 the valve 12 and its valve piston 23 are shown schematically for illustration.
  • the vacuum comes under clock control via the valve 12 and the bore 19 in the suction opening 18 and the openings 17 in contact therewith in the toothed belt 15, whereby air is sucked in, which is a cushion between the bottom of the groove 16 and the toothed belt 15 for the latter forms smooth running, at the same time the top sheet 2 is sucked in by the vacuum from the stack 1 (FIG. 1) and transported away by the toothed belt 15 in the direction of arrow 28
  • the suction opening 18 has a recess 20 which extends in the direction of the sheet run-off, which is illustrated by the arrow 28 and which likewise opens into the groove bottom and extends over the openings 17.
  • the vacuum applied via the suction opening 18 also acts in the recess 20, although weakened in the direction of the sheet run-off.
  • the end wall 26 of the groove side walls 25 on the arc run side does not extend as far as end wall 27 of the guide block 11 on the arc outlet side, so that the suction effect from the end wall 26 of the groove side walls 25 is eliminated.
  • the guide block 11 can be fixed to the plate 8 (FIG. 1) by screws, not shown, which are screwed into bores 24 (FIG. 3) in the guide block 11.
