Definitions

  • the invention relates to an apparatus for heating heat-storing food heating plates, with a housing into which a plurality of food heating plates can be inserted through slots in a housing wall and in which an electrical heating device is arranged.
  • Devices of this type have been known for a long time, for example from CH-A-323 543.
  • the electrical heating device for heating the common housing interior to an end temperature is arranged.
  • the food heating plates inserted into the housing are heated together and removed and reinserted individually as required.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to avoid the disadvantage of high energy consumption or to enable energy savings in a device of the type mentioned, in which the electrical heating device is arranged in the housing and the food warming plates do not contain any electrical energy savings, and yet a quick individual to ensure automatic heating of the required hot plates up to a predetermined final temperature.
  • the heating device consists of heating elements which are each individually assigned to one of the food heating plates in the housing in order to heat this food heating plate, that a switch is arranged for switching on and off each heating element, which is switched by the associated food heating plate can be actuated in the inserted state, and that each heating element can also be switched off by a thermostat switch arranged in the housing, which is controlled by a temperature sensor which is arranged to determine the temperature of the respectively assigned food heating plate.
  • the apparatus it is not necessary to heat the entire housing with all the food warming plates if only a few food warming plates are required. Instead, you can push as many plates into the housing as needed at any given time or at any number of times.
  • the inserted heating element is automatically switched on by each inserted plate and remains switched on until the plate has reached a desired predetermined end temperature.
  • the temperature sensor assigned to each plate monitors the temperature of the plate itself; the heating element in question and the surroundings of the plate can be at a higher temperature than the desired end temperature of the plate during the heating of the plate, so that a very rapid heating of each individual plate is ensured.
  • food warming plates that have been used and have cooled down can be individually heated up again very quickly to the desired final temperature at any time.
  • An apparatus for heating objects in which each object is assigned its own heating element, which is switched on with a limit switch actuated by the object in the state inserted into the apparatus, is known per se from FR-A-2 357 221.
  • the objects to be heated are here a kind of boxes for holding containers which contain food to be heated.
  • the power supply to all heating elements is switched on together before the food is used and is switched off or reduced again by a timer after a predetermined period of time. In such an apparatus, it is not possible to automatically and quickly automatically heat objects at different times to a predetermined final temperature.
  • thermostatically controlled heating ovens or the like are also known, in which objects can be heated to a predetermined final temperature, but in which - with the disadvantage described at the beginning - the entire interior of the housing is heated with a single heating device.
  • DE-B-1 130 565 describes an apparatus for heating two food heating plates with a common radiator. The radiator is switched off by a thermostat switch when the temperature in the interior of the housing in the radiator has reached a predetermined final value. In such devices, the temperature of the objects to be heated approaches the final temperature maintained in the housing asymptotically, and rapid and individual heating of the objects to the final temperature, as in the apparatus of the present invention, is not possible.
  • thermostat switch is provided for each food warming plate.
  • the thermostat switches are also arranged separately from the food heating plates in the housing, they are controlled by the temperatures of the plates, which are determined by temperature sensors.
  • a thermostat switch controlled by a temperature sensor is also known per se, cf. US-A-2 834 868.
  • the temperature sensor is only used because the thermostat switch is separated from the heating element; the temperature sensor also detects the temperature of the heating element or pan bottom in which the heating element is embedded.
  • the apparatus shown has a housing 1 with a front wall 2, in which several parallel horizontal slots 3 are provided, through which heat-storing heating plates 4 can be pushed into the housing.
  • Each food heating plate 4 is fastened to a bracket 8 by means of supporting rods 5, the ends of which form handles and at the same time feet for setting up the plate 4.
  • guide rails 7 are arranged for each plate 4 or behind each slot, which receive the support rods 5.
  • an electrical heating element 8 is arranged in the housing 1 under each feed heating plate 4 or between the guide rails 7 associated therewith. Under each heating element 8 there is a heat shield in the form of a radiation plate 9.
  • Each food heating plate 4 touches with the end face in the inserted state of an associated horizontal heat transfer pin 10, which is mounted in heat-resistant guides 11, 12 so as to be axially displaceable against rotation and is pressed by a spring 1.3 against the end face of the plate 4.
  • a thermostatic switch 14 is fastened with good thermal conductivity.
  • the thermostat switch 14 has two connecting terminals 15 which touch two contact blades 17 fastened on an insulating plate 16.
  • the electrical circuit of the elements described, which are assigned to each of the plates 4, is shown in FIG. 4.
  • the circuit to the heating element 8 runs from a (all heating elements common) main switch 18 via a first of the contact fins 17, the thermostat switch 14 and the second of the contact fins 17.
  • a signal lamp 19 is connected in parallel to the heating element 8 for each heat storage plate 4.
  • Another signal lamp 420 is located between a connection terminal of the heating element 8 and the one connection terminal 15 of the thermostat switch 14.
  • the mode of operation is as follows for each food heating plate 4.
  • the pin 10 holds the thermostat switch 14 with its connecting terminals 15 in contact with the contact blades 17.
  • the circuit via the contact blades 17 and the thermostat switch 14 to the heating element 8 is closed.
  • the plate 4 is heated by the heating element 8 until it reaches a predetermined end temperature. This final temperature of the plate 4 is transferred via the heat-conducting pin 10 to the thermostat switch 14, which opens and switches off the heating element 8.
  • the signal lamp 19 lights up. It goes out when the thermostat switch 14 switches off.
  • the signal lamp 20 lights up. This signals the readiness of the heated inserted plate 4.
  • Such can for example have the form of pressed-in cams 21 (FIG. 2) in the guide rails 7, which cams fully inserted plate 4 engage in corresponding recesses in the plate support rods 5.
