Definitions

  • washed textiles especially those made from cellulose fibers, have an unpleasant hardening after drying. This occurs particularly when the laundry is done in the washing machine.
  • Such undesirable hardening of the handle can be eliminated by treating the textiles after washing in a rinsing bath with cationic substances which contain at least two long-chain aliphatic radicals in the molecule.

  • These fabric softeners according to the invention can either contain a compound of the formula I to III combined with IV or else they contain a mixture of 2 or more compounds of the formula I to III within the stated limits. If a mixture of two or more compounds of the formulas I to III is present, the mixing ratio with one another is completely uncritical and can have any value.
  • These fabric softener concentrates are used as usual by adding them to the last rinse water after the textile wash. The textile material treated in this way is then dried. However, these concentrates can also be diluted beforehand to an active substance content of 4 to 8%, as is the case with commercially available fabric softeners. The so-called 3 to 10-fold concentrates can also be produced with correspondingly less water.
