Abstract

Die Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion enthält neben den üblichen Komponenten zusätzlich Xylit und Sorbit als Inhibitor gegen Wasserfleckenbildung. Der Inhibitor ist bereits voll wirksam, wenn 1000 Gewichtsteile der Emulsion je 1 bis 30 Gewichtsteile Xylit und Sorbit enthalten. Durch diesen Inhibitorzusatz wird die Reaktion der Wasserphase mit der durch den Walzvorgang frisch erzeugten Metalloberfläche weitgehend unterbunden und damit die Bildung von störenden Flecken auf der Bandoberfläche verhindert.

Description

  • Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion zum Kaltwalzen von Leichtmetallen, insbesondere Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen, mit beispielsweise Polyisobutylen als hydrodynamischen Filmbildner, Alkylmonocarbonsäurestern als Reaktionsschichtbildner, polyäthoxylierten Sorbitanoleaten als Emulgator, ungesättigten, langkettigen Alkylmonocarbonsäuren als Inhibitor gegen Wasserstoffversprödung und Rostbildung, Hexamethylentetramin als Stabilisator, Fungicid und Baktericid sowie deionisiertem Wasser.
  • Verglichen mit Walzschmiermitteln auf Oelbasis ermöglichen Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsionen wegen der grösseren Verdampfungswärme von Wasser eine viel bessere Kühlung und damit eine grössere Stichabnahme und/oder erhöhte Walzgeschwindigkeit. Neben diesen rein wirtschaftlichen Faktoren, die Rationalisierungsbestrebungen weitgehend entgegenkommen, muss weiter berücksichtigt werden, dass wässrige Walzmittel stark verminderte Abluftprobleme stellen und weniger vom Erdöl abhängig sind. Deshalb sind in der Leichtmetallindustrie, insbesondere in der Aluminiumindustrie, schon viele Versuche unternommen worden, beim Kaltwalzen von Bändern Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsionen einzusetzen.
  • Aus der DE-AS 26 32 142 ist eine Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion zum Kaltwalzen von Leichtmetallen bekannt, die Alkylmonocarbonsäureester als Reaktionsschichtbildner, Polyisobutylen als hydrodynamischen Filmbildner, polyäthoxylierte Sorbitanoleate als Emulgator, ungesättigte, langkettige Alkylmonocarbonsäuren als Inhibitor gegen Wasserstoffversprödung und Rostbildung, Hexamethylentetramin als Stabilisator, Fungicid und Baktericid, Rest deionisiertes Wasser enthält.
  • Ein wesentlicher Nachteil der dem Stand der Technik zugehörigen Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsionen liegt darin, dass die durch den Walzvorgang frisch erzeugte Metalloberfläche innerhalb weniger Sekunden mit Wasser reagiert. Dieser oberflächliche Korrosionsangriff als Folge der Wasserphase führt zu störenden Flecken auf der Bandoberfläche. Die durch die Bildung dieser sogenannten Wasserflecken verminderte Oberflächenqualität eines Bandes bzw. einer Folie ist für viele Anwendungszwecke ungenügend. Es ist deshalb bei Anwendung der bekannten Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsionen unbedingt erforderlich, die Emulsion unmittelbar nach dem Austritt des Bandes aus dem Walzwerk beispielsweise durch Abblasen mit Druckluft möglichst vollständig von der gewalzten Bandoberfläche zu entfernen.
  • Angesichts dieser Gegebenheiten hat sich der Erfinder die Aufgabe gestellt, eine Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion der eingangs erwähnten Art zum Kaltwalzen von Leichtmetallen, inbesondere Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen, zu schaffen, mit welcher die Bildung von Wasserflecken auf der frisch gewalzten Bandoberfläche vermindert werden kann.
  • Die Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäss dadurch gelöst, dass die Emulsion zusätzlich als Inhibitor gegen Wasserfleckenbildung Xylit und Sorbit enthält.
  • Durch den gemeinsamen Zusatz von Xylit und Sorbit zu einer Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion wird die Bildung von Wasserflecken weitgehend unterbunden. Ein Entfernen der Emulsion von der Oberfläche der frisch gewalzten Bänder ist somit nicht mehr unbedingt erforderlich. Der Inhibitor ist bereits voll wirksam, wenn 1000 Gewichtsteile der Emulsion je 1 bis 30 Gewichtsteile Xylit und Sorbit enthalten.
  • Es hat sich des weiteren herausgestellt, dass die Wirkung des aus Xylit und Sorbit zusammengesetzten Inhibitors durch die Zugabe von Glycerin noch gesteigert werden kann. Vorteilhafterweise enthalten 1000 Gewichtsteile der Emulsion 20 bis 90 Gewichtsteile Glycerin.
  • Der Zusatz von Xylit, Sorbit und gegebenenfalls Glycerin beeinflusst den Walzvorgang nicht und führt bei einer anschliessenden Glühung der gewalzten Bänder auch nicht zu Rückständen auf der Bandoberfläche.
  • Die Vorteilhaftigkeit des erfindungsgemässen Zusatzes des Inhibitors gegen Wasserfleckenbildung geht aus den Versuchen mit den nachstehend angeführten Kaltwalzemulsionen hervor.

  • Die organischen Komponenten wurden bei Raumtemperatur unter einfachem Rühren zusammengegeben und mit deionisiertem Wasser versetzt. Die beiden getrennten Phasen wurden anschliessend in einer Emulgiermaschine zu einer Emulsion verarbeitet.
  • Mit den vorstehend genannten Emulsionen wurden auf einem Einzelquartogerüst Kaltwalzversuche mit Aluminium der Reinheit Al 99,2 durchgeführt. Die Stichabnahmen betrugen teilweise bis zu 92%. An den gewalzten Aluminiumbändern konnten in keinem Fall Anzeichen von Wasserfleckenbildung beobachtet werden. Ebenso führte keine der Emulsionen bei einer anschliessenden Glühung der gewalzten Bänder zu Rückständen auf der Bandoberfläche.

Claims (4)

1. Oel-in-Wasser-Emulsion zum Kaltwalzen von Leichtmetallen, insbesondere Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen, mit beispielsweise Polyisobutylen als hydrodynamischen Filmbildner, Alkylmonocarbonsäureestern als Reaktionsschichtbildner, polyäthoxylierten Sorbitanoleaten als Emulgator, ungesättigten, langkettigen Alkylmonocarbonsäuren als Inhibitor gegen Wasserstoffversprödung und Rostbildung, Hexamethylentetramin als Stabilisator, Fungicid und Baktericid sowie deionisiertem Wasser, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Emulsion zusätzlich als Inhibitor gegen Wasserfleckenbildung Xylit und Sorbit enthält.
2. Emulsion nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass 1000 Gewichtsteile der Emulsion je 1 bis 30 Gewichtsteile Xylit und Sorbit enthalten.
3. Emulsion nach einem der Ansprüche 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sie zusätzlich Glycerin enthält.
4. Emulsion nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass 1000-Gewichtsteile der Emulsion 20 bis 90 Gewichtsteile Glycerin enthalten.
