Description

  • Heizkeil zum Schweißen von thermoplastischen Kunststoffen Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Heizkeil zum Schweißen von thermoplastischen Kunststoffen.
  • Mit der Entwicklung der thermoplastischen Kunststoffe kamen verschiedene Verfahren auf, um zwei derartige Stoffe an den miteinander zu verbindenden Fläche. unter Wärmeeinwirkung im weichplastischen Zustand zu verschweißen.
  • Zu diesem Zweck führt man einen Heizkeil, der eine der jeweiligen Schweißarbeit angepaßte messer- oder keilartige Form besitzt, zwischen die beiden zu verschweißenden Stoffe ein, so daß diese unter dem Einfluß der Wärme plastisch werden.
  • In diesem Zustand, der nur kurze Zeit anhält, werden die Stoffe mechanisch zusammengepreßt. Damit ist dann die Schweißung vollzogen.
  • Da die thermoplastischen Stoffe vielfach organische Chlorwasserstoffverbindungen darstellen, entstehen beim Schweißen Zersetzungsprodukte, die stark chlorwasserstoffhaltig sind und die Heizkeile sehr schnell angreifen, ganz gleich, ob es sich um Handwerkzeuge oder Teile von Schweißmaschinen handelt. Es wird daher als sehr lästig empfunden, daß diese Heizkeile nach kurzer 5 chweiß dauer wieder zugerichtet oder nachgeformt werden müssen. Diese häufig notwendig werdende Arbeit stört den gleichmäßigen Ablauf des Schweißens und verteuert diese erheblich. Es hat nicht an Versuchen gefehlt, diesem Übelstand abzuhelfen.
  • Man hat Versuche mit Legierungen, z. B. Messing, Tombak, Cu-Al, Bronze usw., durchgeführt. die besonderes beständig gegen die Zersetzungs- produkte der Kunststoffe sind. Diese Legierungen haben aber alle den Nachteil, daß ihre Wärmeleitfähigkeit klein ist und dadurch nur eine geringe Schweiß leistung erreicht werden kann.
  • Mit Heizkeilen aus Kupfer, aber auch aus Silber, fst die Schweileistung am besten, und man hat viele Versuche gemacht, um durch geeignete galvanische Oberflächenveredelung, wie Vernicklung, Verchromung, Cadmieren usw., eine Verbesserung der Haltbarkeit zu erzielen. Alle diese Versuche brachten nur kleine Teilerfolge, die aber zeitlich nur geringe Wirkung hatten.
  • Die demgegenüber fortschrittliche Lösung dieser Aufgabe besteht gemäß der Erfindung darin, daß der Heizkeil aus einer Legierung eines gut wärmeleitenden Metalls mit einem Erdalkalimetall aus der II. Gruppe des Periodischen Systems, z. B.
  • Beryllium, besteht. Eine solche Legierung bildet nach einer entsprechenden Wärmebehandlung an der Oberfläche des Heizkeiles eine dünne festhaftende Oxydhaut mit einer besonderen Widerstandsfestigkeit gegen die Einwirkung der Zersetzungsprodukte des Kunststoffes beim Schweißen.
  • Als Ausführungsbeispiel wird ein Heizkeil aus Kupfer mit einem geringen Berylliumzusatz genannt. DieseLegierung scheidet nach einer Wärmebehandlung an der Oberfläche eine dünne Haut von Kupfer-Beryllium-Oxyd aus, das außerordentlich festhaftet und durch seinen höheren Berylliumoxydanteil chemisch - selbst bei höherer Temperatur - von Chlorwasserstöffverbindungen so gut wie nicht angegriffen wird. Diese sehr dünne Oxydhaut, die sich bei gelegentlichen Verletzungen schnell neu bildet, bietet für den Wärmeübergang fast kein Hindernis, so daß die gute Wärmeleitfähigkeit des Kupfer-Berylliums praktisch völlig ungehemmt zur Auswirkung kommt.
  • Praktische Versuche haben gezeigt, daß Heizkeile nach der Erfindung eine Haltbarkeit bei der Kunststoffschwefßung aufweisen, die um 30- bis 50mal größer ist als diejenige von Heizkeilen aus Kupfer, selbst wenn diese besonders gut oberflächenveredelt sind.
  • Ähnliche Wirkungen sind z. B. mit Legierungen von Kupfer mit Magnesium zu erzielen.

  1. ! PATENTANSPRUCH: Heizkeil zum Schweißen von thermoplastischen Kunststoffen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß er aus einer Legierung eines gut wärmeleitenden Metalls mit einem Erdalkalimetall aus der II. Gruppe des Periodischen Systems, z. B. Beryllium, besteht.
