Description
- Die Erfindung betrifft Schleifkörner enthaltende, erodierbare Agglomerate und insbesondere die erodierbaren Agglomeraten enthaltende Schleifmittelprodukte
- Übliche beschichtete Schleifkörner bestehen gewöhnlich aus einer einzigen Schicht aus Schleifkörnern, die auf einem Rücken kleben. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß bis zu etwa 15% der Körner in der Schicht tatsächlich am Abtragen von Werkstoff von dem Werkstück beteiligt sind. Daher sind etwa 85% der Körner in der Schicht überflüssig. Ferner muß auch der Rücken, der einer der teuersten Bestandteile des beschichteten Schleifmittels ist, vor dem Ende seiner Gebrauchsdauer entsorgt werden.
- Um dieses Abfallproblem zu vermeiden, sind zahlreiche Versuche gemacht worden, die Schleifkörner auf dem Rücken derart zu verteilen, daß ein höherer Prozentsatz der Schleifkörner verwendet werden kann, so daß die beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukte eine längere Lebensdauer haben. Infolge dieser längeren Lebensdauer brauchen die Bedienungspersonen die Bänder oder Scheiben weniger oft auszuwechseln, so daß Zeit und Lohnkosten eingespart werden. Offenbar kann das Problem nicht dadurch gelöst werden, daß einfach auf dem Rücken eine dicke Schicht aus Schleifkörnern abgelagert wird, weil dann die unter den obersten Körnern befindlichen Körner wahrscheinlich nicht benutzt werden.
- Im Stand der Technik sind mehrere Versuche beschrieben, Schleifkörner in einem beschichteten Schleifkörper derart zu verteilen, daß die Lebensdauer des Produkts verlängert wird. In der US-PS Re. 29 808 ist ein Schleifmaterial beschrieben, das eine Vielzahl von Hohlkörpern aufweist, deren Wände Schleifkörner und ein Bindemittel enthalten, das die Schleifkörner an der Wandfläche stoffschlüssig miteinander verbindet, so daß beim Schleifen an der Schleiffläche ständig eine Vielzahl von frischen Schleifkörnern zur Verfügung steht; dabei hängt die Schleifwirkung der Schleiffläche ausschließlich von der Größe der Schleifkörner ab.
- In der US-PS 4 311 489 ist ein beschichtetes Schleifmittelprodukt beschrieben, in dem Schleifmittelteilchen mit einer Einbettungs- und einer Deckschicht an einem Rücken befestigt sind und jedes Schleifmittelteilchen aus einem im wesentlichen festen Agglomerat aus feinen Schleifkörnern und einer spröden anorganischen Kryolithmatrix besteht. Die Agglomerate haben eine unregelmäßige Oberfläche, die stoffschlüssig mit der Einbettungs- und der Deckschicht fest verbunden werden kann, so daß die Agglomerate beim Schleifen allmählich abgerieben werden, weil die stumpfgewordenen Schleifkörner allmählich von den Agglomeraten entfernt werden.
- In der DE-AS 24 17 196 ist ein beschichteter Schleifkörper beschrieben, der einen Schleifmittelkörper auf einem Substrat aufweist. Der Schleifmittelkörper besteht aus einem Hohlkörper, dessen Wände aus Bindemittel und Schleifkörnern bestehen. Die Hohlkörper werden beim Schleifen aufgerissen, so daß die Wand des Hohlkörpers auf den zu schleifenden Werkstoff einwirkt. Infolgedessen ist der Kornverschleiß über die ganze Oberfläche des Substrats verteilt. Die in diesen Patenten beschriebenen Produkte sind zwar brauchbar, doch wird in der Industrie eine noch bessere Ausnutzung von Schleifkörnern in beschichteten Schleifkörpern gewünscht.
- In der US-PS 4 893 021 ist ein erodierbares Agglomerat beschrieben, das für ein Schleifmittelprodukt geeignet ist, das eine Vielzahl einzelner Schleifkörner, ein Matrixmaterial und ein Bindemittel enthält.
- Nach einem Gegenstand schafft die Erfindung erodierbare Agglomerate gemäß der US-PS 4 393 021, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Matrixmaterial aus der Gruppe ausgewählt ist, die aus einem für die Herstellung von Papier geeigneten Faserstoffbrei und Derivaten desselben, Holzmehl, Vermiculit und Gemischen derselben besteht.
- Infolge des Matrixmaterials sind die Agglomerate so dauerhaft, daß eine vorzeitige Zerstörung unter scharfen Schleifbedingungen vermieden wird, aber so weich, daß sie unter diesen Schleifbedingungen abgebaut werden.
- Mit den Agglomeraten gemäß der Erfindung kann ein starker Abschliff erzielt werden, weil die Agglomerate den sie enthaltenden Schleifmittelprodukten eine lange Lebensdauer erteilen. Dies ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß die einzelnen Schleifkörner beim Schleifen nur langsam abgenommen werden, so daß dann neue Schleifkörner dem Werkstück zugekehrt sind. Es hat sich gezeigt, daß beschichtete Schleifkörper mit den erfindungsgemäßen Agglomeraten sowohl zum Schlichten als auch zum Schruppen verwendet werden können. Die wesentlichen Vorteile der mit den erfindungsgemäßen Agglomeraten hergestellten beschichteten Schleifkörper sind eine lange Gebrauchsdauer der Schleifkörner und der hohe bei deren Verwendung erzielte Wirkungsgrad.
- Nach einem anderen Gegenstand schafft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zum Herstellen der vorgenannten Agglomerate und dieser enthaltenden Schleifmittelprodukte, z. B. von beschichteten Schleifkörpern und Schleifscheiben. Das Matrixmaterial verhindert ein Absetzen der einzelnen Körner und gewährleistet ein Festhalten der Masse und der Agglomerate und ein Aufrechterhalten der Form derselben während der bei ihrer Herstellung verwendeten Härtebehandlung.
- Bevorzuge Ausführungsformen der Erfindung werden nachstehend an Hand der beigefügten Zeichnungen nur beispielsweise beschreiben. Dabei zeigt
- Fig. 1 schematisch ein erfindungsgemäßes Agglomerat mit einem relativ großen Prozentsatz Bindemittel,
- Fig. 2 schematisch ein erfindungsgemäßes Agglomerat mit einem mittelgroßen Prozentsatz Bindemittel und
- Fig. 3 schematisch ein erfindungsgemäßes Agglomerat mit einem relativ kleinen Prozentsatz Bindemittel.
- Das Agglomerat 10 selbst ist erodierbar und porös, und seine wesentlichen Bestandteile, nämlich das Matrixmaterial 11, einzelne Schleifkörner 12 und Harzbindemittel 13, liegen in zufälliger Verteilung vor. Damit das Agglomerat erodierbar ist, müssen das Matrixmaterial und das Bindemittel erodierbar sein. Das Volumen des Agglomerats pro Gewichtseinheit ist größer als das Volumen, das pro Gewichtseinheit bei einem nichtporösen Agglomerat zu erwarten wäre, das dieselben Bestandteile enthält. Diese Tatsache ist darauf zurückzuführen, daß infolge der Struktur des Matrixmaterials in dem Agglomerat eine Vielzahl von Poren vorhanden sind.
- Die wesentliche Aufgabe des Matrixmaterials besteht darin, im Gebrauch den Abbau der Agglomerate in unter Freilegung weiterer einzelner Schleifkörner zu ermöglichen, wenn die Gebrauchsdauer der verbrauchten Körner abgelaufen ist.
- Das Matrixmaterial kann vorzugsweise Flüssigkeit absorbieren und hat insbesondere ein hohes Absorptionsvermögen für Wasser, damit es während des bevorzugten Verfahrens zum Herstellen der Agglomerate das das Bindemittel begleitende Lösungsmittel absorbieren kann. Das Matrixmaterial ist vorzugsweise nichtthermoplastisch, damit es bei der Erzeugung von Reibungswärme während des Schleifens nicht erweicht oder fließt. Der Abbau des Matrixmaterials soll ohne ein Erweichen, Fließen oder Schmelzen erfolgen. Schließlich ist es sehr erwünscht, daß das Matrixmaterial mit dem Harz bzw. den Harzen des Bindemittels keine Reaktion eingeht, damit das Bindemittel nicht geschwächt wird und das Matrixmaterial nicht zu stark erweicht oder erhärtet. Das Matrixmaterial hat vorzugsweise eine solche physikalische Struktur, daß bei seiner Vereinigung mit dem Bindemittel in dem Agglomerat der aus dem Matrixmaterial und dem Bindemittel bestehende Verbundstoff so porös ist, daß bei dem bevorzugten Verfahren zum Herstellen des Agglomerats überschüssige Flüssigkeit aus der Masse des agglomerierten Materials austreten kann und der Abbau des Agglomerats beim Schleifen erleichtert wird. Ferner gestatten in dem Agglomerat vorhandene Poren ein Entfernen von Schleifspänen und ein Ausüben eines höheren Druckes durch einzelne Körner auf das Werkstück, damit ein Abbau der Agglomerate gewährleistet ist. Das Matrixmaterial soll auch so fest sein, daß es während des bevorzugten Herstellungsverfahrens beim Härten und Entwässern ein Zusammenfallen des Agglomerats verhindert.
- Das Matrixmaterial kann aus Fasermaterial und aus anderen als Fasermaterialien hergestellt werden. Zu den Matrixmaterialien, die sich für die Verwendung im Rahmen der Erfindung als besonders geeignet erwiesen haben, gehören für die Herstellung von Papier geeigneter Faserstoffbrei und Derivate desselben, Holzmehl und Vermiculit.
- In dieser Anmeldung wird als für die Herstellung von Papier geeigneter Faserstoffbrei ein Zellulosematerial bezeichnet, das chemisch oder mechanisch vor allem aus Holz, aber auch aus Lumpen und anderen Materialien hergestellt wird und das zum Herstellen von Papier und anderen Celluloseprodukten verwendet wird. Die bevorzugten Faserstoffbreie sind mechanische Holzzellstoffe, wie Holzschliff, durch zerfasern gewonnener Zellstoff und durch Explosion gewonnener Zellstoff, ferner chemisch gewonnene Holzzellstoffe wie Solfitzellstoff, Neutralsulfitzellstoff, Kraftzellstoff (Sulfatzellstoff), chemischer Zellstoff, Natronzellstoff, halbchemischer Zellstoff und aus Holzschliff chemisch gewonnener Zellstoff. Am meisten werden Faserstoffbreie bevorzugt, die aus Hartholz hergestellt sind, z. B. Kraftzellstoff. Andere im Rahmen der Erfindung verwendbare Faserstoffbreie bestehen aus Baumwollfasern oder sind aus Lumpen hergestellt oder bestehen aus Abfallpapier gewonnenem Zellstoff für die Papierherstellung sowie aus Faserstoffbreien aus anderen Fasern, wie Bambus-, Schilf-, Manilahanf- oder Jutefasern. Eine umfassende Liste der von Faserstoffbreien, die bei der Papierherstellung und gemäß der Erfindung verwendet werden können, findet sich in The Dictionary of Paper, 3. Auflage, American Paper and Pulp Association (New York 1965), S. 5-30.
- Als Holzmehl werden hier feingemahlenes Kiefernholz, Sägespäne oder gemahlene Holzabfälle bezeichnet. Als Vermiculit wird hier geblähter und ungeblähter Vermiculit bezeichnet.
- Einzelne Schleifkörner, die im Rahmen der Erfindung verwendbar sind, gehören zum Stand der Technik. Zu ihnen gehören ohne Einschränkungen darauf Aluminiumoxid (Al&sub2;O&sub3;), Zirkoniumoxid, Granat, Schmirgel, Korund, Aluminium-Zirkoniumoxid, Carbide, wie Siliciumcarbid, Borcarbid, Nitride, wie kubisches Bornitrid, Diamant, Rubin, Feuerstein, modifiziertes keramisches Aluminiumoxid, und dergl.
- Die einzelnen Schleifkörner können in dem Agglomerat in einer "geschlossenen" Anordnung vorliegen, d. h. daß die einzelnen Körner einander berühren, oder in einer "offenen" Anordnung mit Zwischenräumen zwischen den einzelnen Körnern.
- Das Bindemittel hat die Aufgabe, die einzelnen Schleifkörner mit dem Matrixmaterial stoffschlüssig zu verbinden und die Härte und die Abbaueigenschaften des Agglomerats zu bestimmen.
- Im Rahmen der Erfindung verwendbare Bindemittel sind in der Technik bekannt. Zu ihnen gehören, ohne Einschränkung darauf, Phenolharze, Harnstofformaldehydharze, Phenolformaldehydharze, Epoxidharze und Alkydharze. Bevorzugt werden synthetische organische Bindemittel, doch können auch natürliche organische Bindemittel, wie Hautleim, sowie anorganische Bindemittel verwendet werden.
- Das Agglomerat kann auch Schleifhilfsstoffe enthalten. Zu den in dem erfindungsgemäßen Agglomerat verwendbaren Schleifhilfsstoffen gehören z. B. anorganische Hologenide, wie Kryolith (Na&sub3;AlF&sub6;), Kaliumborfluorid (KBF&sub4;), anorganische Sulfide und chlorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe.
- Die Agglomerate können auch übliche Füllstoffe, wie Calciumcarbonat, enthalten.
- Die wesentlichen Bestandteile des Agglomerats können in unterschiedlichen Mengenanteilen verwendet werden. Vorzugsweise werden etwa 0,3 bis 8 Gew.-% Matrixmaterial, etwa 95 bis etwa 85 Gew.-% Schleifmaterial und etwa 5 bis 30 Gew.-% Bindemittel verwendet. Mit abnehmender Konzentration des Bindemittels wird das Agglomerat leichter abgebaut.
- Vorzugsweise liegt die größte Abmessung der Agglomerate zwischen 150 und 3000 Mikrometern. Wenn die einzelnen Schleifkörner sehr fein sind, beispielsweise nach der FEPA-Norm, die Körnung P180 haben, enthält jedes Agglomerat 10 bis 1000 einzelne Körner. Wenn die einzelnen Schleifkörner der Körnung P36 entsprechen, enthält jedes Agglomerat 2 bis 20 Körner. Gewöhnlich haben die Agglomerate eine unregelmäßige Form, sie können aber auch zu Kugeln, Sphäroiden, Ellipsoiden, Pellets, Stäbchen oder anderen üblichen Formkörpern geformt werden.
- Zusammen mit den erfindungsgemäßen Agglomeraten können noch einzelne Schleifkörner verwendet werden, und in diesem Fall kann die Menge der so verwendeten einzelnen Schleifkörner bis zu 70 Gew.-% des Gewichts der Agglomerate betragen.
- Die Erodierbarkeit des Agglomerats, d. h., die Geschwindigkeit seines Zerfalls oder seiner Erosion unter einer angegebenen Last, kann durch die Wahl eines anderen Harzbindemittels bzw. Schleifminerals und/oder der Verwendung in anderen Mengenanteilen verändert werden. Beispielsweise werden Agglomerate mit härteren Bindemitteln langsamer erodiert als Agglomerate mit weicheren Bindemitteln und wird ein Agglomerat mit einem relativ hohen Prozentsatz Bindemittel langsamer erodiert als ein Agglomerat mit einem relativ niedrigen Prozentsatz Bindemittel.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Agglomerate können nach dem folgenden Verfahren hergestellt werden: In einem flüssigen, vorzugsweise wäßrigen, Medium wird Matrixmaterial so dispergiert, daß seine Konzentration in der Dispersion vorzugsweise im Bereich von etwa 5 bis etwa 10 Gew.-% liegt. Es muß soviel Flüssigkeit vorhanden sein, daß die Schleifkörner in der Masse des Matrixmaterials gleichmäßig verteilt werden können und daß das trockene Agglomerat genügend porös ist. Bei einem zu großen Flüssigkeitsmangel ist es schwierig, die zum Herstellen des Agglomerats verwendeten Bestandteile zu mischen. Andererseits ist es bei einem zu großen Flüssigkeitsüberschuß schwierig, das zu dem Agglomerat verformte Gemisch zu trocknen. Man kann zwar Verdickungsmittel verwenden, doch können sie bei der nachfolgenden Verarbeitung zu Problemen beim Härten und zur Blasenbildung führen.
- Danach wird die Dispersion aus Flüssigkeit und Matrixmaterial mit Schleifmineral und Bindemittel gemischt. Zu dem zum Mischen geeigneten Vorrichtungen gehören übliche Flügelmischer. Die Konzentration des Schleifminerals in den nassen Gemisch liegt vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 55 und etwa 94 Gew.-%. Die Konzentration des Bindemittels liegt vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 5 und etwa 35 Gew.-%. Die Konzentration der Kombination von Flüssigkeit und Matrixmaterial liegt vorzugsweise zwischen etwa 1 und etwa 40 Gew.-%.
- Die bevorzugte Zusammensetzung zum Herstellen der Agglomerate enthält 100 Gewichtsteile Matrixmaterial, 900 Gewichtsteile Wasser, 1100 Gewichtsteile Harzbindemittel und 6600 bis 10 000 Gewichtsteile Schleifmineral.
- Durch Härten des Gemisches wird dann ein Agglomerat gebildet, das einzelne Körner aus Schleifmineral, ferner Matrixmaterial und Bindemittel enthält. Dann wird das gehärtete Gemisch so behandelt, daß Agglomerate in dem gewünschten Korngrößenbereiche erhalten werden. Zu den für diesen Schritt geeigneten Vorrichtungen gehören übliche Backenbrecher und Walzenbrecher.
- Die zum Herstellen von Agglomeraten der beschriebenen Art erforderlichen Brech- und Klassiervorgänge führen häufig zu Agglomeraten mit einem unerwünschten Korngrößenbereich, und diese können entweder zurückgeführt, d. h. einer neuen Dispersion zugesetzt, oder verworfen werden. Wenn die Agglomerate zum Herstellen von beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukten verwendet werden, kann man zu große Agglomerate entfernen, indem eine Schicht mit einer Rakel durch ein Sieb hindurch aufgetragen wird, Zusammensetzungen mit Holzmehl können leichter manipuliert werden als Zusammensetzungen mit Faserstoffbrei, weil die Fasern des Faserstoffbreis nur schwer unter einer Rakel oder durch Sieböffnungen hindurchgehen können.
- Agglomerate einheitlicher Korngröße können in einer Pelletisiervorrichtung hergestellt werden. Zum Pelletisieren eines Gemisches aus trockenem Holzmehl oder trockenem Fasermaterial und Schleifmineral kann man Harz in eine Mühle sprühen oder eintropfen, die das Gemisch aus Mineral und Matrixmaterial enthält.
- Die erfindungsgemäßen Agglomerate können zum Herstellen von beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukten, gebundenen Schleifmittelprodukten, wie Schleifscheiben, ferner von Schleifmittelprodukten in Form von Vliesstoffen und von anderen Produkten verwendet werden, in denen gewöhnlich Schleifkörner verwendet werden.
- Zum Herstellen von beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukten kann man Agglomerate auf einen Rücken auftragen. Der Rücken kann aus jedem geeigneten Werkstoff bestehen, der mit den Bestandteilen der Agglomerate verträglich ist und der unter den Härte- und Schleifbedingungen seine Integrität beibehält. Vorzugsweise liegt der Rücken in Form eines anpassungsfähigen flexiblen Blattes vor. Im Rahmen der Erfindung verwendbare Rücken sind in der Technik bekannt. Zu ihnen gehören Feinfolien, gewebte und nichtgewebte Textilstoffe und andere Blätter aus Fasermaterial, Polymer und Papier. Der beschichtete Schleifkörper kann in der üblichen Weise hergestellt werden, z. B. durch Auftragen einer Einbettungsschicht auf den Rücken, Aufstreuen der Agglomerate auf die Einbettungsschicht, Auftragen einer Deckschicht und darauffolgendes Härten der so aufgetragenen Schichten. Die Einbettungs- und Deckschichten können aus üblichen Materialien hergestellt werden. z. B. aus Phenolharzen, Harnstofformaldehydharzen, Hautleim und Firnis. Beispiele von Einbettungsschichten und Deckschichten, die in beschichteten Schleifkörpern gemäß der Erfindung verwendet werden können sind in der US-PS 4 314 827 (Leitheiser) beschrieben, auf deren Inhalt hier ausdrücklich Bezug genommen wird. Es muß dafür gesorgt werden, daß die Erodierbarkeit der Agglomerate durch die Deckschicht nicht beeinträchtigt wird. Aus diesem Grunde muß die Deckschicht sehr dünn sein, damit sie die Oberfläche des beschichteten Schleifmittels nicht überflutet. Ferner können für die Einbettungs- und/oder die Deckschicht strahlungshärtbare Harze verwendet werden.
- Schleifscheiben können nach dem im Beispiel 47 der US-PS 4 314 837 beschriebenen Verfahren hergestellt werden.
- Die die erfindungsgemäßen Agglomerate enthaltenden Schleifkörper haben den Vorteil, daß sie infolge der höheren Wirkungsgrades der Verwendung von Schleifkörnern und/ oder einer höheren Kornbeladung eine längere Lebensdauer haben. Das beschichtete Schleifmittelprodukt kann noch lange weiterschneiden, wenn eine einzige Schicht aus Schleifkörnern bereits unbrauchbar geworden wäre. Mit Agglomeraten können auch Schleifkörner einer gegebenen Einzelkorngröße in einer größeren Menge auf eine gegebene Fläche eines beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukts aufgebracht werden.
- Die Erfindung wird in den nachstehenden einschränkenden Beispielen weiter erläutert:
- In diesem Beispiel und dem ihm unmittelbar folgenden Beispiel wird ein Verfahren zum Herstellen von Agglomeraten mit einer Matrix beschrieben, die aus einem für die Herstellung von Papier geeigneten Faserstoffbrei hergestellt worden ist.
- Hartholz-Kraftzellstoff (25 g) wurde in Wasser (700 g) dispergiert. Ein Teil des Wassers (350 g) wurde ablaufen gelassen. Danach hatte die Dispersion ein Wasser/Zellstoff-Verhältnis von 14/1 und wurde sie mit Al&sub2;O&sub3; (AO-Körnung 180) (850 g) und Phenolformaldehydharz (400 g) gemischt. Das so erhaltene Gemisch wurde mit einer Naßschichtdicke von 6,35 mm auf eine Polyester-Feinfolie aufgetragen und auf dieser 14 Stunden bei 91ºC gehärtet. Dann wurden durch Brechen der gehärteten Zusammensetzung in einem Backenbrecher Agglomerate im Korngrößenbereich von 20 bis 100 hergestellt. Im Korngrößenbereich von -20 bis +40 betrug die Schüttdichte 0,776.
- Hartholz-Kraftzellstoff (25 g) wurde in Wasser (700 g) dispergiert. Ein Teil des Wassers (350 g) wurde ablaufen gelassen. Die so erhaltene Dispersion hatte ein Wasser/Zellstoff-Verhältnis von 14/1 und wurde mit Al&sub2;O&sub3; (AO-Körnung 180) (480 g) und Phenolformaldehydharz (200 g) gemischt. Das so erhaltene Gemisch wurde in einer Naßschichtdicke von 6,35 mm auf eine Polyester-Feinfolie aufgetragen und auf dieser 14 Stunden bei 91ºC gehärtet. Danach wurden durch Brechen der gehärteten Stoffzusammensetzung in einem Backenbrecher mineralische Agglomerate im Körnungsbereich von 20 bis 100 hergestellt.
- In diesem Beispiel werden die Schleifeigenschaften der in den Beispielen 1 und 2 hergestellten Agglomerate aufgezeigt.
- Die Agglomerate nach Beispiel 1 und die Agglomerate nach Beispiel 2 wurden auf Rücken aufgetragen und unter nachstehenden Bedingungen mit Standardprodukten verglichen: auf eine C-Scheibe von 178 mm wurde eine Einbettungsschicht aufgetragen, auf die die Agglomerate dann aufgestreut wurden. Danach wurde auf die Agglomerate und die Einbettungsschicht eine Deckschicht aufgetragen. Für die Einbettungsschicht wurden dasselbe Harzbindemittel wie in den Agglomeraten (48 Gew.-%) und Calciumcarbonat als Füllstoff (52 Gew.-%) verwendet. Für die Deckschicht wurden dasselbe Harzbindemittel wie in den Agglomeraten (48 Gew.-%) und Kryolith als Füllstoff (52 Gew.-%) verwendet. Danach wurden die Einbettungs- und die Deckschicht 12 Stunden gehärtet. Die Gewichtsmengen der Agglomerate, der Einbettungsschicht, des Minerals und der Deckschicht sind in der Tabelle I angegeben, und zwar in Gewichtseinheiten von 15,4 g pro Flächeneinheit von 101,6 mm . 152,4 mm). - Die Scheiben mit Agglomeraten, die Schleifkörner der Körnung 120 enthielten, wurden mit einer hin- und hergehenden Scheibenprüfmaschine unter Belastungen von 22,2, 44,5 und 66,7 N geprüft. Die Scheiben mit Agglomeraten, die Schleifkörner der Körnung 180 enthielten, wurden nur unter einer Belastung von 66,7 N geprüft. Die Ergebnisse sind in der Tabelle II angegeben. - Die mit den erfindungsgemäßen Agglomeraten hergestellten beschichteten Schleifmittelprodukte arbeiteten über dem ganzen Belastungsbereich gut. Unter niedriger Belastung fand ein Abbau statt und blieb das Agglomerat funktionsfähig. Unter hoher Belastung fand kein plötzlicher, sondern ein allmählicher Abbau statt. Mit den Agglomeraten versehene Scheiben konnten viel länger schleifen als Scheiben mit nichtagglomeriertem Schleifmineral.
- Ein Vergleich der Gesamtabschliffwerte ergab, daß durch die Verwendung von Agglomeraten der Wirkungsgrad des Minerals stark erhöht wird. Aus der Tabelle I ist erkennbar, daß bei den Agglomeratscheiben mit Schleifmineral der Körnung 120 die Mineralgewichte zwar tatsächlich niedriger (21%) waren als bei den Scheiben mit nichtagglomeriertem Schleifmineral und daß bei den Agglomeratscheiben mit Schleifmineral der Körnung 180 die Mineralgewichte nur 71% höher waren als bei Scheiben mit nichtagglomeriertem Schleifmineral, daß aber der Gesamtabschliff mit den Agglomeraten unter einer Belastung von 44,5 kg um 278% und unter einer Belastung von 22,2N um 1196% größer war.
- In diesem Beispiel wird die Verwendung von Holzmehl als Matrixmaterial erläutert.
- Eine Dispersion von Wasser (30 g) und trockenem Holzmehl (30 g) wurde mit Al&sub2;O&sub3; (Körnung P180) (2400 g) und Phenolharz (1000 g) gemischt. Das so erhaltene Gemisch wurde in einer Naßschichtdicke von 6,35 mm auf eine Polyester-Feinfolie aufgetragen und 14 Stunden bei 91ºC gehärtet. Das gehärtete Produkt hatte eine Schüttdichte von 0,812.
- Mit dem Holzmehl enthaltenden Agglomeraten wurde ein beschichtetes Schleifmittelprodukt nach dem Verfahren hergestellt, das im Beispiel 3 auf die Herstellung von Schleifscheiben mit Agglomeraten angewendet wurde, die Schleifkörner der Körnung 180 enthielten. Bei der Prüfung des überzogenen Schleifkörpers nach dem Verfahren des Beispiels 3 betrug unter einer Belastung von 2,27 kg der Gesamtabschliff 215 g. Gegenüber der Scheibe Type 3 von 3M® mit geschlossener Schicht aus Aluminiumoxid und Faserstoffrücken stellt dieser Wert eine Verbesserung von 448% dar.
- In diesem Beispiel wird die Verwendung von Vermiculit als Matrixmaterial erläutert.
- Geblähter Vermiculit (50 g) in 50 cm³ eines Gemisches (50:50) aus 2-Ethoxyethanol (Cellusolve®) und Wasser wurde mit Al&sub2;O&sub3; (Körnung P180) (2400 g) und Phenolharz (1000 g) gemischt. Das so erhaltene Gemisch wurde in einer Naßschichtdicke von 6,35 mm auf eine Polyester-Feinfolie aufgetragen und 14 Tage bei 91ºC gehärtet. Das gehärtete Produkt hatte eine Schüttdichte von 0,71.
- Mit den Vermiculit enthaltenden Agglomeraten wurde nach dem im Verfahren 3 zum Herstellen von Scheiben mit Schleifkörnern der Körnung 180 enthaltenden Agglomeraten verwendeten Verfahren ein beschichteter Schleifkörper hergestellt. Beim Prüfen des so erhaltenen beschichteten Schleifkörpers nach dem Verfahren des Beispiels 3 betrug unter einer Belastung von 22,2N der Gesamtabschliff 195 g. Gegenüber der Scheibe Type 3 von 3M® mit geschlossener Schicht aus Aluminiumoxid und Faserstoffrücken stellt dieser Wert eine Verbesserung von 406% dar.
- In diesem Beispiel soll der Einfluß der Größe der Agglomerate auf das Schleifverhalten erläutert werden. Nach dem Verfahren des Beispiels 1 wurden Agglomerate hergestellt. Dabei wurde die gehärtete Masse jedoch so gebrochen und klassiert, daß Agglomerate mit Körnungen im Bereich von -10+12 bis -36+60 erhalten wurden. Mit diesen Agglomeraten wurden nach dem im Beispiel 3 zum Herstellen von Scheiben mit Schleifkörner der Körnung 120 enthaltenden Agglomeraten angewendeten Verfahren beschichtete Schleifkörper hergestellt. Die Schleifleistung wurde nach dem der Tabelle II zugrundeliegenden Verfahren des Beispiels 3 gemessen. Die Ergebnisse sind in der Tabelle III angegeben. - Unabhängig von der Agglomeratgröße war die Leistung des beschichteten Schleifkörpers gemäß der Erfindung besser als die der im Kontrollversuch verwendeten Scheibe.
- In diesem Beispiel werden beschichtete Schleifkörper gemäß der Erfindung mit Agglomerate enthaltenden beschichteten Schleifkörpern nach dem Stand der Technik verglichen.
- Die Bedingungen waren wie folgt:

- Belastung: 2,68 kg pro cm verwendete Bandbreite
- Werkstück: kaltgewalzter Stahl 1018 MS (2,54 cm · 17,78 cm)
- Geschwindigkeit: 1950 m/min
- Arbeitsspiele: Schleiftakte von 1 min, zwischen denen das Werkstück abgekühlt wird.
- Die Ergebnisse sind in der Tabelle IV angegeben. - Man erkennt, daß der beschichtete Schleifkörper, die Agglomerate nach dem Stand der Technik enthalten, weil die durchschnittliche Abschliffrate zwar nicht größer ist als bei den Schleifkörpern nach dem Stand der Technik, der auf die schleifende Fläche bezogene Gesamtabschliff aber viel größer ist als bei den bekannten Schleifkörpern.
- Schleifscheiben wurden nach den üblichen Kaltpreßverfahren mit Agglomeraten hergestellt, zu deren Herstellung die in den Verfahren 1 und 2 beschriebenen Verfahren verwendet wurden. Das Schleifmaterial in den Agglomeraten war Al&sub2;O&sub3; (AY) der Körnung 150. Die Agglomeratgröße war -24+60.
- Die Schleifscheiben hatten einen Durchmesser von 7,5 cm, eine Dicke von 1,2 cm und eine zentrale Öffnung von 1,2 cm. Zu ihrer Herstellung wurden zunächst in einem üblichen Teigkneter 376 g Agglomerate der Körnung 150 (durchschnittlicher Durchmesser 430 Mikrometer) mit 50 g flüssigem Phenolharz (50 Teile eines Gemisches von 76% Phenolformaldehydharz und 24% CaCO&sub3; als Füllstoff und 50 Teile eines Gemisches von 20% Cellosolve® und 80% Wasser) benetzt. Das benetzte Agglomerat wurde zusammen mit 94 g trockenem Phenolharz in einen Zementmischer gegeben und gründlich gemischt. Von dem so erhaltenen Gemisch wurden 95 g in einer üblichen Schleifscheibenform gleichmäßig verteilt und darin durch Pressen 15 bis 20 Sekunden langes Pressen mit einer hydraulischen Presse auf die geeignete Größe verdichtet. Der gepreßte Körper wurde der Form entnommen und 2 Stunden auf 149ºC gehalten. Danach wurden die Schleifscheiben in der üblichen Weise oberflächenbehandelt und ausgewuchtet. Bei einer Rotation der Schleifscheibe mit etwa 19 000 U/min zerfiel diese nicht. Der Normwert für brauchbare Scheiben ist 10 000 U/min.
Claims (11)
1. Erodierbares Agglomerat (10), das für ein
Schleifprodukt geeignet ist, mit einer Vielzahl von
einzelnen Kornern (12) aus einem schleifend wirkenden Mineral,
einem Matrixmaterial (11) und einem Bindemittel (13),
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Matrixmaterial (11) aus der
Gruppe ausgewählt ist, die aus einem für die Herstellung von
Papier geeigneten Faserstoffbrei und Derivaten desselben,
Holzmehl, Vermiculit und Gemischen derselben besteht.
2. Agglomerat (10) nach Anspruch 1, das etwa 60
bis etwa 95 Gew.-% einzelne Schleifmittelkorner (12), etwa
0,3 bis etwa 8 Gew.-% erodierbares Matrixmaterial (11) und
etwa 5 bis etwa 30 Gew.-% Bindemittel (13) besteht.
3. Agglomerat (10) nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, in
dem das Bindemittel (13) aus der Gruppe ausgewählt ist, die
aus den Phenolharzen, Harnstofformaldehydharzen,
Phenolformaldehydharzen, Epoxidharzen und Alkydharzen besteht.
4. Gebundener Schleifkörper mit dem erodierbaren
Agglomerat (10) nach einem der vorhergehenden Ansprüche.
5. Überzogener Schleifkörper mit dem erodierbaren
Agglomerat (10) nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, das an
einem Rücken befestigt ist.
6. Überzogener Schleifkörper nach Anspruch 5, in
dem das Agglomerat (10) an dem Rücken mit einer Einbettungs-
und einer Deckschicht befestigt ist.
7. Verfahren zum Herstellen eines Agglomerats
(10) nach Anspruch 1 mit folgenden Schritten:
(a) das Matrixmaterial (11) wird in einem flüssigen Medium
dispergiert,
(b) die im Schritt (a) erhaltene Dispersion wird mit dem
schleifend wirkenden Mineral (12) und einem Bindemittel
(13) zu einem Gemisch vereinigt,
(c) das im Schritt (b) erhaltene Gemisch wird gehärtet und
(d) durch Behandeln des im Schritt (c) erhaltenen,
gehärteten Gemisches wird ein Agglomerat gebildet.
8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, in dem die im
Schritt (a) erhaltene Dispersion soviel Flüssigkeit
enthält, daß das schleifend wirkende Mineral (12) in der Maske
des Matrixmaterials gleichmäßig verteilt werden kann.
9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7 oder 8, in dem das
im Schritt (b) erhaltene Gemisch etwa 55 bis etwa 94 Gew.-%
schleifend wirkendes Mineral (12), etwa 5 bis etwa 35 Gew.-%
Bindemittel (13) und etwa 1 bis etwa 40 Gew.-% Dispersion
aus Flüssigkeit und Matrixmaterial enthält.
10. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 7 bis 9,
in dem das im Schritt (c) erhaltene Gemisch mit Wärme
gehärtet wird.
11. Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 7 bis 10,
in dem das gehärtete Gemisch zum Bilden von
Agglomeratkörnern (10) der gewünschten Größe durch Brechen behandelt wird.
