Die Erfindung betrifft eine elektrisch heizbare Schweißmuffe aus thermoplastischem Material zum
Verbinden von Kunststoffrohren, mit einer Wandung der Muffe angeordneten. Heizdrahtwicklung, deren Enden
zur Außenseite der Muffe geführt sind
Zwischen den Kunststoffrohren und den sie zu verbinden bestimmten Muffen bestehen relativ große, herstellungsbedingte
Toleranzunterschiede. Falls die ToIeranzen zu eng gehalten werden, kann es vorkommen,
daß einzelne Rohr nur mit Mühe, z. B. durch Einschlagen,
in die Muffe einsetzbar ijnd, wa.-, nachteilig ist. Bei
zu weiten Toleranzen sind die Rohre in der Muffe nicht zentriert und können leicht verkanten, was zu schlechten
Schweißverbindungen führt. Auch beim Zusammenbau eines Rohrsystems wäre es vorteilhaft, wenn die
Rohre vor dem Verschweißen satt in den Muffen sitzen würden und genau fluchtend durch letztere gehalten
wären. Es ist nun Aufgabe der Erfindung, eine Schweißmuffe der eingangs erwähnten Art 10 weiterzubilden,
daß ein einwandfreier Zusammenbau von Rohren und Muffe möglich ist.
Erfindungsgemäß wird dies so erreicht, daß die Innenwand der Muffe federnde Vorsprünge aufweist.
Bei einer vorteilhaften Ausführungsform der Schweißmuffe bestehen die Vorsprünge aus in axialer
Richtung sich erstreckenden Lappen, die in gleichmäßigen Abständen voneinander angeordnet sind.
Die Erfindung betrifft auch ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der Schweißmuffe, welches erfindungsgemäß
dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß zur Bildung der Vorsprünge Längsfurchen eingestochen werden.
Nachfolgend wird anhand der Zeichnung ein Ausführungsbeispiel einer Schweißmuffe näher erläutert. Es
zeigt
Fig. 1 einen Längsschnitt durch eine Schweißmuffe
und
Fig. 2 einen Radialschnitt durch die Wand der Schweißmuffe in größerem Maßstab.
Die in der F i g. 1 dargestellte, elektrisch heizbare Schweißmuffe weist einen zylindrischen Körper 1 aus
einem thermoplastischen Kunststoff, beispielsweise Polyäthylen, auf. Die Innenwand 2 des Körpers ist mit
einer schraubenlinienförmigen Nut 3 versehen, in welehe
die Wicklung 4 eines Heizdrahtes eingelegt ist. Die Enden des Heizdrahtes sind durch zwei radiale Bohrungen
5 nach außen geführt und mit zwei im Körper verankerten
Kontaktstücken 6 verbunden, welche ihrerseits durchzwS Buchsen 7 abgeschirmt sind.
Die Herstellung der- Muffe erfolgt mit relativ engen Toleranzen. Demgegenüber weisen die meist durch Extrusion
hergestellten Kunststoff rohre relativ groß? Durchmesserunterschiede aus, was das Aufschieben der
Muffe auf die Enden der Rohre erschwert, falls die Passung zu eng ist, oder zu einer zu losen Verbindung vor
dem Verschweißen führt, falls die Passung zu we's ist
Dadurch wird der Zusammenbau einzelner Rohre zu einem Rohrsystem erschwert; die Rohre sind in den
Muffen nicht zentriert, und die Verschweißung ist ungleichmäßig. Um dies zu verhindern, werden Längsfurchen
8 in die Innenwand 2 des Muffenkörpers 1 derart eingestochen, daß das aus den Furchen verdrängte Material
nach innen vorsteht und Längslappen 9 bildet. Die Tiefe der Furche 8 wird selbstverständlich so gewählt,
daß der in den Nuten 3 eingelegte Widerstandsdraht 4 nicht verletzt wird. Die Furchen werden zweckmäßigerweise
so gezogen, daß die Lappen 9 in gleichmäßigen Abständen an der Innenwand angeordnet sind.
Durch diese Lappen werden die in die Muffe beidseitig bis zum Anschlagring 10 eingeschobenen Rohre 11
mit sattem Sitz und genau zentriert gehalten. Der Abstand der Rohre von der Innenwand der Muffe ist
gleichmäßig, was eine bessere Schweißverbindung gewährleistet. Versuche haben gezeigt, daß die Lappen
genügend elastisch sind, um auch nach mehrmaligem Überschieben der Muffe einen festen Halt der Verbindung
zu bewirken.
Zur Herstellung der unlösbaren Verbindung wird in bekannter Weise durch den Heizdraht erwärmt, was
eine Schrumpfung derselben und ein Verschweißen der Innenwand mit den Rohrenden bewirkt.

Claims (3)
1. Elektrisch heizbare Schweißmuffe aus thermoplastischem
Material zum Verbinden von Kunststoffrohren, mit einer in der Wandung der Muffe
angeordneten Heizdrahtwicklung, deren Enden zur Außenseite der Muffe geführt sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß die Innenwand (2) der Muffe federnde Vorsprünge (9) aufweist
2. Schweißmuffe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß die Vorsprünge sich in axialer Richtung erstreckende Lappen (9) sind, die in gleichmäßigen
Abständen voneinander angeordnet sind.
3. Verfahren zur Herstellung der Schweißmuffe nach Anspruch 1 und 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß zur Bildung der Vorsprünge Längsfurchen eingestochen werden.
