Polyurethan- Elastomere
Die Erfindung betrifft Polyurethan- Elastomere mit einer Shore A Härte von zumindest 80°, gemessen
bei 60 0, mit verbesserten mechanischen Eigenschaften bei erhöhten Temperaturen, insbesondere der Weiterreißfestigkeit
bei 1oo° C und Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung.
Zur Herstellung von Polyurethan-Elastomeren auf Polyesterbasis sind eine Vielzahl von Verfahren bekannt,
wobei im wesentlichen eine Umsetzung von einem -•aliphatischen Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht
von etwa 2.ooo, einem Diisocyanat und einer Verlängerungskomponente, bestehend aus einem niedermolekularen
.Diol bzw. einem Diamin oder einem Gemisch ·
der beiden letzteren erfolgt.
.Die Beeinflußung der Eigenschaften im Hinblick auf eine Erhöhung von Härte und Modulus wurde durch
Erhöhung des Isocyanatanteils, sowie eine dem Mol-Verhältnis
entsprechende Erhöhung der Verlängerungskomponenten vorgenommen.
Auf solche Art hergestellte Produkte weisen jedoch den Nachteil auf, daß die in vermehrter Zahl gebildeten
Urethan-G-ruppen bei dynamisch beanspruchten Artikeln eine nachteilige Auswirkung zeigen, weil deren Instabilität
bei erhöhten Temperaturen zu einer raschen" Abnützung bzw. Zerstörung führt.
Eine Erhöhung des Moduls und der Härte durch Einsatz größerer Mengen von Diamin führte wohl zu
thermisch stabileren Produkten, ergab jedoch den Nachteil der Zerstörung durch mangelnde Biegewechselfestigkeit.
Um diesem Nachteil zu begegnen, wird erfindungsgemäß,
vorgeschlagen, zur Umsetzung ein Polyesterdiol mit einem höheren Molekulargewicht heranzuziehen, bei
welchem die zur Erzielung von höherer Härte und Moduluebenötigten zyklischen Anteile bereits eingebaut sind.
Insbesondere kann ,als Polyesterdiol ein solches der
nachstehenden Formel I verwendet werden:

Durch die Verwendung solcher Polyesterdiole wird der Anteil von Urethan-Gruppen im Polyurethan-Elastomer vermindert
und es werden vorzügliche mechanische Eigenschaften auch in dem für manche Verwendungswecke wichtigen Temperaturbereich
von 60 - 1200C erreicht.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ist dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß maximal 20 Gew.-fo eines Diisocyanate vorzugsweise unter Mityerwendung eines Katalysators mit einem

Diol umgesetzt werden, wobei das Diol zumindest teilweise
als Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht zwischen 2oöo bis 2o ooo vorliegt ,· das aus einer
oder einem Derivat hieyon Dikarbonsäure/und einem aliphatischen
und einem zyklischen bzw.. heterozyklischen Diol ^fo&eku&aajgBO!^^ ist.
Nach einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform des Verfahrens -wird als Polyesterdiol ein solches mit einem
Molekulargewicht zwischen 4ooo bis 16 ooo verwendet.
Bevorzugte Dikarbonsäuren zur Bildung des-Polyesterdiols
sind die folgenden aus der Gruppe Adipinsäure, Azelainsäure, Sebacinsäure, Maleinsäure, Terephthalsäure,
Isophtalsäure und Phthalsäure.
Zur Bildung des Polyesterdiols werden aliphatische
Diole aus der Gruppe Äthylenglykol, 1,4- Butandiol, 'Diäthylenglykol, 1-Methyläthylenglykol und zyklische
Diole aus der Gruppe 4,4'-" Di-(2-hydroxyäthoxy)-dipheny!methan,
1,4- Di-(2-hydroxyäthp%)- benzol, sowie heterozyklische Diole angewendet.
Zur Bildung des Polyesterdiols mit1 einem heterozyklischen
Diol worden vorzutfswoino Molo auo dor Gruppe

1,3-Di-(2-hydroxyäthyl)- 4,5,6,7- tetra-hydro-benzimidazolon
Bis - [5,5-di-methyl-3- (2-hydroxypropyl)-hydantoinylj -methan
1,3-Di-(2-hydroxypropyl)-5,5-di-methyl-hydantoin
1,3-Di-(2-hydroxypropyl)-benzimidazolon
gebildet.
Es ist vorteilhaft, wenn bei der Umsetzung ein Katalysator aus der Gruppe Zinnoctoat, Zinndibutyldilaurat, 1,4- Diazabicyclo-
£2f2,2j- octan, verwendet wird.
Die Erfindung wird im folgenden näher beschrieben.
Die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten hinsichtlich der Herstellung des Polyesterdiols werden anhand einiger Ausführungsbeispiele
näher erläutert.
74,4 g (1,2 Mol) Äthylenglykol, 241,4 g (1,7 Mol) Adipinsäure und 213,6 g (0,6 Mol) Eis - Γ5,5-dimethyl 3-
(2-hydroxyäthyl)- hydantoinylj-methan wurden 24 Stunden auf 18O0O und 12 Stunden auf 1800C/ 1 mm Hg
erhitzt, wobei das bei der Reaktion entstandene Wasser kontinuierlich dem Reaktionsgemisch entzogen wurde.
Das entstandene Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 5ooo wurde nur Herstellung von Polyurethan-Elastomeren,
wie unten beschrieben, verwendet.
14,88 g (0,24 Mol) Äthylenglykol, 51,1' g(O,35 Mol) Adipinsäure, 42,72 g (0,12 Mol) Bis - [^5-dimethyl-3-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-hydantoinylj
-methan und 0,3 g p-Toluolsulfonsäure wurden wie in Beispiel 1 umgesetzt.
Man erhält ein Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von oa. 1o 000.
2o,44 g(0,14 Mol) Adipinsäure, 56,96 g Bis -{1-methyl
2- [U (2-hydroxyäthyl)- 5,5-dimethyl - hydantion - 3 - yl]}-äthyl
- sebacinsäureester und 0,6g p-Toluolsulfonsäure
wurden wie in Beispiel 1 umgesetzt. Man erhält ein Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 11 000.
33,58 g (0,23 Mol) Adipinsäure, 0,98 g (0,01 Mol) Maleinsäureanhydrid, 9,92 g (0,16 Mol) Äthylenglykol
und 28,49 g Bis - [5,5-dimethyl-3- (2-hydroxyäthyl)-

hydan.toiri.ylJ - methan wurden 24 Stunden auf 18O0G,
6 Stunden auf 220° C und 1o Stunden auf 18O°C/1 mm Hg
erhitzt, wobei das bei der Reaktion, entstandene V/asser kontinuierlich dem Reaktionsgemisch entzogen wurde.
Sa entstand ein Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht
von ca. βοοο.
37,96 g (0,26 Mol) Adipinsäure, 11,16 g (0,18 Mol)
Äthylenglykol und 19,44 g (.0,09 Mol) 1,3-Di-(2-hydroxyäthyl)
-5,5- diinethylhydantoin wurden 24 Stunden auf 180°C'und
12 Stungen auf 22O0O erhitzt und das bei der Reaktion entstandene v/asser abdestilliert. Man erhielt ein
Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 6ooo.
31.96 g (o,17 Mol) Azelainsäure, · 7,44 g (0,12 Mol)
Äthylenglykol und 21,36 g (0,06 Mol) Bis - (5,5-dimethyl- 3-(2-hydroxyäthjL)-hydantoinyl]-methan
wurden analog Beispiel 5 Eingesetzt. Der entstandene Polyester hatte ein Molekulargewicht
von ca. 5 5oo.
43.24 g (0,23 Mol) Azelainsäure, 9,92 g (0,16 mol)
Äthylenglykol un 23,o4 g (0,08 Mol) 4,4'-M- (2-hydroxyäthoxy)·
dipheny!methan wurden wie in Beispiel 5 zu einem Polyesterdiol
mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 4 5oo umgesetzt.
3,8 g (0,026 Mol) Adipinsäure, 1,12 g (0,018 Mol) Äthylenglykol, 1,94 g (0,009 Mol) 1,3-Di-(2-hydroxyäthyl)-5,5-dimethyl-hydantion
erhitzt man 2o Stunden in einer mit einem V/asserabscheider ausgestatteten Apparatur unter Rückfluß.
Sodann wird das Toluol im Vakuum entfernt. Man erhält ein Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 6000.
Eine lösung von 37,96 g (0,26 Mol) Adipinsäure, 11,16 g
(0,18 Mol) Äthylenglykol und 32,o4 g (0,09 Mol) Bis 5,5-dimethyl - 3 - (2-hydroxyäthyl) - hydantoinylj -methan

in 100 ml Toluol wird in Gegenwart von 0,5 g Ca Cl2
48 Stunden unter Rückfluß erwärmt, wobei das entstehende Wasser abgeschieden wird.
Das Toluol wird im Vakuum entfernt. Man erhält ein Polyesterdiol mit einem Molekulargewicht von ca.
7000.
78,3 g (0,43 Mol) Adipinsäure Dimethylester, 3o,5 g
(0,334 Mol) 1,4-Putandi©l, 53,4 (0,15 Mol) Bis- ("5,5-Dimethyl-3-(2-Hydroxyäthyl)-hydantόinyl]
-methan und 0,15 g Antimonoxyd wurden 1 Stunde auf 1500C,-1 Stunde auf 2200C
und 3 Stunden auf 280°C/0,02 mm Hg erhitzt, wobei das bei der Reaktion gebildete Methanol kontinuierlich dem Reaktionsgemisch entzogen wurde. Es entstand ein Polyesterdiol mit
einem Molekulargewicht von ca. 4400.

Herstellung der Polyurethan-Elastomere;
5.000 g (1 Mol) des laut Beispiel 1 hergestellten Polyesterdiols wurden mit 5oo g (2 Mol) Diphenylmethan 4,4'-diisocyanat
zu einem Polyurethan-Vorpolymer umgesetzt. Die Reaktion wurde in einem beheizten 20 1
Stahlbehälter durchgeführt, wobei das Polyesterdiol langsam während etwa 30 Minuten unter Rühren dem auf
100 C erwärmten Diisocyanat zugesetzt wurde.
Die Reaktion wurde durch Aufrechterhaltung der Temperatur von 1000C während 6 Stunden zu Ende geführt.
Schließlich wurde·! dem Vorpolymer 267 g (1MoI) von auf 1200C erhitztem 3,3' -Dichlor- 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethan
als Verlängerungskomponenten sowie 30 g Phenyl-Quecksilber-Propionat als Katalysator zugesetzt.
Der intensiv durchmischte Ansatz wurde in eine auf 500C
erwärmte Form eingebracht, um darin das Polyurethan-Elastomer zu bilden. Die Erprobung ergab eine wesentliche
Verbesserung der Weiterreißfestigkeit bei 1000C, sowie der Biegewechselfestigkeit im Temperaturbereich zwischen
60 bis 9O0C. Auf Grund des in Form der Quecksilberverbindung
zugesetzten Katalysator! erwies sich das Polymere überdies gegenüber Pilzbefall resistent.
5oo g 1,3-Di-(2-hydroxyäthyl) -4,5,6,7 tetrabrombenzimidazolon
und 460 g 3-Isocyanatomethyl -3f5/.5·- trimethylcyclohexylisocyanat wurden in einem
Reaktionsgefäß unter Rühren auf 2400C erhitzt und dabei
ein Polyurethan-Vorpolymer gebildet. Nach 1o Minuten wurde das Vorpolymer auf 1200C abgekühlt und mit 6.000 g
des laut Beispiel 4 erhaltenen Polyesterdiols (welches ebenfalls auf 12O0C erhitzt wurde) unter Stickstoffatmosphäre

vermischt und in eine 1OO°Ö heiße Form gegossen» Das
gebildete Elastomer wurde bei 1o5°C während 16 Stunden
naohgetempert, danach ausgeformt und abgekühlt.* Das
erhaltene Produkt erwies sich als schwer brennbar und auf Grund der guten WeiterreiiBfestigkeit bei Temperaturen
oberhalb 8O0C insbesondere für starke Temperaturbelastungen
unterworfene dynamisch beanspruchte Artikel hervorragend geeignet.
16.000 g des IaUt Beispiel 2 erhaltenen Polyesterdiols
wurden mit 250 g Haphtylen - 1,5 - diisocyanat bei 18O0C
in einem Extruder unter Luftabschluß zusammengemischt und in eine 1100G heiße Form eingespritzt. Die Form wurde abgekühlt»
der Körper ausgeformt und bei 1o5°C 24 Stunden lang im Heißluftofen nachgetempert.
Das in Form des Körpers ausgebildete Polyufethan-Elastomer
zeichnete sich bei der Prüfung durch hervorragende Beständigkeit bei dynamischer Dauerbelastung im Temperatürbereich
zwischen 60- 1000C aus.
45oö g des laut Beispiel 7 erhaltenen Polyesterdiols
'würden zusammen mit 175 g Hexamethylen - 1,6 - diisocyanat
bei 8O0C zusammengeführt und mit 15 g Zinhdibutyldilaurat
und 45 g 1,4-Diazabicyclo - [2,2,2]-octan schnell 'durchmischt,
in eine Form gegossen und danach 24 Stunden nachgetempert.
Das Produkt zeichnete sich durch gute Flexibilität bei Temperaturen bis· -3O0C aus.
Claims (1)

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Polyurethan-Elastomeren mit einer Shore A Härte von zumindest 80°, gemeasen bei 6O0C und mit verbesserten mechanischen Eigenschaften bei erhöhten Temperaturen, ins-. besondere der Weiterreißfestigkeit bei 10O0G, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß maximal 20 Gew.-^ eines Diisocyanats vorzugsweise unter Mitscerwendung eines Katalysators mit einem Diol umgesetzt werden, wobei das Diol zumindest teilweise als Polyesterdiol vorliegt,das aus einer■ · oder· einem Derivat- hievon
Dikarbonsäure/i einem aliphatischen und einem zyklischen bzw. heterozyklischen Diol mit einem Molekulargewicht· zwischen 3.000 bis 30.000 gebildet ist..2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als Polyesterd'iol ein solches mit einem. Molekulargewicht zwischen 4.000 bis 16.000 verwendet wird. · " ' - ·3· Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 und 2, dadurch ■ gekennzeichnet, daß das Polyesterdiol mit einer Dikarbonsäure aus der Gruppe: Adipinsäure, Azelainsäure, Sebacinsäure, Maleinsäure, Terephthalsäure, Isophthalsäure und Phthalsäure gebildet ist* ·4i Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen i bis 3., dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Polyesterdiol mit einem aliphatischen Diol aus .der Gruppe: Äthyienglykol, '1,4- Butandiol, Diäthylenglykol, 1- Methyl-äthylenglykol, gebildet ist.5. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4,' dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Polyesterdiol mit einem ■ .•zyklischen Diöi aus der Gruppe:4.4* -Di -' (2-hydroxyäthoxy) - dipheny!methan ·. ' 1,4 -Di-(2-hydroxyäthöxy) - benzol •gebildet ist*> ■ · ■AA6.
