Es ist bereits bekannt, Gegenstände aus Gummi herzustellen, bei denen durch Zusammenfügen von gelochten und vollen Kautschukplatten, die miteinander zusammengeklebt sind, gleichmäßig verteilte Zellen hergestellt sind. Um in diesen Zellen einen, größeren Gasdruck, als der Atmosphärendruck ist, zu erzeugen, werden vor dem Vulkanisieren gaserzeugende Chemikalien in bestimmten Mengen
ίο in die einzelnen Zellen gebracht. Hierbei wurde aber ein gleicher Gasdruck in allen Zellen nicht gewährleistet, da die Menge und Zusammensetzung der gaserzeugenden Chemikalien nicht mit der erforderlichen Genauigkeit innezuhalten ist.
Durch das vorliegende Verfahren wird aber der Nachteil des früheren Verfahrens vollständig aufgehoben, indem nämlich bei dem beanspruchten Verfahren die einzelnen Platten vor ihrem endgültigen Zusammenkleben in einer Form durch Einführen von Gas unter gleichen Innendruck gesetzt, alsdann zusammengeklebt und schließlich vulkanisiert werden. Die Zellen erhalten daher einen absohlt gleichmäßigen und größeren Druck als der Athmosphärendruck ist.
Das Verfahren wird wie folgt ausgeführt: In bekannter Weise werden gelochte und volle Kautschukplatten übereinander angeordnet. Die Kautschukplatten können durchweg oder teilweise gelocht sein. Die Platten werden alsdann in eine Form gebracht, die luftdicht abgeschlossen wird. Auf der beiliegenden Zeichnung sind zwei Ausführungsbeispiele der Formen und der herzustellenden Gegenstände gegeben. Zur Füllung der Hohlräume mit Gas oder Luft unter Druck wird vorher vorbereitetes Gas oder atmosphärische Luft benutzt und dieses Gas oder diese Luft in den Gegenstand in einem Zustande eingeführt, bei dem die Platten miteinander zusammenhängen, und zwar vor dem Vulkanisieren. Zur Erzielung eines absolut gleichmäßigen Druckes in den einzelnen Teilen des Gegenstandes ist es vorteilhaft, die Hohlräume rßgelmäßig anzuordnen.
Wie aus Fig. 1 der Zeichnung zu erkennen ist, wird durch äußere volle Platten 1 eine innere gelochte Platte 2 umschlossen. Die Ränder dieser Platte sind miteinander verklebt oder in sonst geeigneter Weise vereinigt, so daß sie den Druck des Gases oder der Luft aushalten. Schon vorher können durch Einblasen von Druckluft die Platten aufgetrieben sein, so daß der Gegenstand die Form eines gewölbten Kissens erhält. Alsdann wird er in die Presse 3 eingelegt und der Deckel 4 so aufgesetzt, daß er das in den Hohlräumen befindliche Gas komprimiert, worauf er mit Hilfe von Bolzen durch den Druck einer Presse o. dgl. fest verschlossen wird. Die Kautschukplatten bleiben während einer ausreichenden Zeit unter Druck und vereinigen sich hierdurch derart mi-teinander, daß der Gegenstand aus der Form herausgenommen und zum Vulkanisieren gebracht werden kann,
ohne daß die Platten sich infolge der Wir-■ kung des Innendruckes wieder voneinander lösen. Die Vulkanisation des Gegenstandes kann aber auch in derselben Form geschehen. Die Form kann aber auch, wie Fig. 2 zeigt, für verschieden große Gegenstände gebraucht werden, indem sie nämlich in einen besonderen Behälter 6 gesetzt wird, durch dessen Deckel ein Luft- oder Gaszuführungsrohr 7 hindurchgeht. Bei dem Deckel ist ein Druckmesser 8 und ferner ein durch eine Schraubenspindel 9 und eine Mutter 10 zu bewegender Preßdeckel vorgesehen, der in die Form 5 hineinpaßt.
Wird der Gegenstand in die Form 5 eingesetzt und Druckluft in den Behälter 6 geleitet, so dringt diese durch die Verbindungsstelle der Presse hindurch und gelangt zwischen die einzelnen Platten, die noch nicht miteinander vereinigt sind, sondern sich leicht voneinander lösen.
Nach Erreichung des gewünschten Druckes werden die Teile der Presse festgezogen, wodurch die Platte 1 und 2 kräftig gegeneinander gepreßt werden, so daß sie sich miteinander vereinigen und sich an die Innenwand der Presse anschmiegen, ohne daß man eine Zerstörung der Hohlräume zu befürchten hat. Nach Ablauf eines ausreichenden Zeitraumes wird der Gegenstand entweder herausgenommen, um vulkanisiert zu werden, oder es wird in der Presse selbst vulkanisiert.
Um eine Formveränderung der Hohlräume zu verhindern, kann in jedem Hohlraum eine Kapsel aus schmiegsamem Stoff, beispielsweise einer Mischung von Glycerin und Gelatine angebracht werden, die in zweckentsprechender Weise gehärtet ist, um den Zeitpunkt des Erweichen s zu verzögern. Das eigentliche Verfahren bleibt aber stets dasselbe.
Nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren ist es auch möglich, auf die äußeren Flächen der nicht vulkanisierten Kautschukplatten halb vulkanisierte Kautschukplatten derart aufzukleben, daß ein Überzug gebildet wird, der gegen Gas undurchlässig, jedoch geeignet ist, sich beim Vulkanisieren des ganzen Gegenstandes mit dem ihn umschließenden Kautschuk zu vereinigen. Es ist alsdann nötig, zwischen die Kautschukplatten Metallröhrchen zu lagern, um Luft oder Gas einzuführen. Nach Beendigung des Einleitens wird das Füllrohr zurückgezogen und die Einführungsöffnung verschlossen, um das Gas oder die Luft nicht entweichen zu lassen.
Die nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren erzeugten Gegenstände werden dann weiter bearbeitet, nötigenfalls in sich selbst gerollt und geformt, wobei eine Zerquetschung von Teilen der Masse und das Eindrücken von Hohlräumen infolge des Gasdruckes, der durch die Undurchlässigkeit der halb vulkanisierten Umhüllung in den Hohlräumen erhalten bleibt, nicht zu befürchten ist.

  1. Patent-Anspruch :
    ■ Verfahren zur Herstellung zellenhaltiger Kautschukgegenstände aus gelochten und vollen Kautschukplatten, die miteinander zusammengeklebt sind, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Platten vor dem endgültigen Zusammenkleben in einer Form durch Einführen von Gas unter gleichen Innendruck gesetzt, alsdann zusammengeklebt und schließlich vulkanisiert werden.
