Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft neue Polymere aus Benzoatmonomeren,
die sterisch gehinderte phenolische Gruppen enthalten, und die Verwendung derartiger Polymere allein oder in
Kombination mit anderen Stabilisatoren zur Stabilisierung von organischen Zusammensetzungen gegenüber der Zersetzung, die
durch ultraviolettes Licht hervorgerufen wird.

Bei der obigen allgemeinen Formel besitzt die phenolische Gruppe
zwei Alkylsubstituenten. Ein Alkylsubstituent steht in der
ortho-Stellung zu der Hydroxygruppe und eine zweite Alkylgruppe
ist entweder (a) in der anderen ortho-Stellung zu der Hydroxygruppe oder (b) in der meta-Stellung zu der Hydroxygruppe und
in der para-Stellung zu der ersten Alkylgruppe. Bevorzugt sind die Di-(niedrig)-alkyl-p-phenolischen Gruppen, bei denen die Alkylgruppen
verzweigt sind, und Alkylgruppen, wie tert.--Butyl oder
Isopropylgruppen bedeuten. Jedoch sind auch andere Anordnungen möglich, wie z.B. die 3-tert.-Butyl-6-methyl-4~hydroxyphenylgruppe,
die 3,^-Di-isopropyl-^-hydroxy-phenylgruppe, die
3,5-Di-tert.-butyl-4--hydroxy-phenylgruppe, die 3-Isopropyl-5-methyl-4-hydroxyphenylgruppe
oder die 3»5-Di-n-hexyl-4-hydroxyphenylgruppe.
Der Ausdruck "(Niedrig)-alkyl" bedeutet eine Gruppe, die einen
geradkettigen oder verzweigten Kohlenwasserstoff mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen enthält. Beispiele derartiger Alkylgruppen
sind die Methyl-, Äthyl-, Isopropyl-, n-Propyl-, tert.-Butyl-
oder n-Hexylgruppe.
Die oben beschriebenen Monomeren können durch die folgenden zwei Verfahren hergestellt werden:

1) Veresterung von Hydroxyalkyl-α,ß,ungesättigten Estern mit
Benzoesäuren, die eine sterisch gehinderte phenolische Gruppe enthalten, die durch die folgende Gleichung dargestellt

Obwohl bei diesem Verfahren, wie in der Gleichung angegeben, Benzoesäure
verwendet werden kann, ist es bevorzugt, Säurehalogenide zu verwenden und insbesondere die Säurechloride der Benzoesäure.
Als Beispiele für Hydroxy-alkyl-ct,ß-ungesättigte Ester seien in
nicht beschränkender Weise die folgenden genannt:

Benzoesäuren, die sterisch gehinderte phenolische Gruppen enthalten,
und deren Säurechloride sind genauer in der Patentliteratur beschrieben, z.B. in der U.S.-Patentschrift 3 285 855·
Beispiele von brauchbaren Benzoesäuren sind die folgenden:

Ähnlich wie in dem ersten Verfahren können, wie in der Gleichung angegeben, Säuren verwendet werden, jedoch sind Säurehalogenide
und insbesondere Säurechloride bevorzugt.
Beispiele brauchbarer a,ß-ungesättigter Säurechloride sind die folgenden:

Die Hydroxyalkylbenzoate werden vorzugsweise hergestellt durch die Addition von Epoxyden, vorzugsweise Äthylen- und Propylenoxyd
an Benzoesäuren, wie an diejenigen, die bei dem oben genannten Verfahren 1) erwähnt wurden. Diese Eeaktion ist gut bekannt
und ist in Houben-Weyl, "Methoden der organischen Chemie", Vol.
14/2, Seiten 4J6 - 446 (Georg-Thieme-Verlag, Stuttgart), 1962,
beschrieben.

Eine weitere Ausführungsform der vorliegenden Erfindung betrifft
die aus den oben beschriebenen Monomeren hergestellten Polymeren
(Polymerisate) und deren Verwendung als Stabilisatoren für *
organische Materialien, die normalerweise durch ultraviolettes Licht zersetzt werden. Eine weitere Ausführung ist ein Verfahren
zur Herstellung dieser Polymeren, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man (a) ein von einer oc,ß-ungesättigten Säure und
einer Benzoesäure, die eine sterisch gehinderte phenolische Gruppe enthält, abgeleitetes Monomeres und (b) einen freie Radikale
liefernden Initiator unter Polymerisationsbedingungen
umsetzt. Der Initiator ist eine Verbindung der in ein Alkyl-
oder Aryl-Radikal dissoziieren kann. Demzufolge wird bei der
Herstellung der polymeren Stabilisatoren in dem erfindungsgemässen Verfahren ein Einstufenverfahren verwendet, wodurch sich
die bisher bekannten Vielstufenverfahren vermeiden lassen.
Somit ist ein wesentlicher Reaktionsteilnehmer bei der Herstellung
der polymeren Stabilisation ein Initiator, der in der Lage ist, mit einem Monomeren derart zu reagieren, daß man direkt,
d.h. in einer Stufe, die polymeren Stabilisatoren erhält. Diese Initiatoren schließen ein Azo-nitrile und Azo-derivate, die in

Alkyl- oder Arylradikale bei Temperaturen, die für Polymerisationsreaktionen
geeignet sind, dissoziieren. Das am besten bekannte Beispiel für ein Azo-nitril ist 2,2'-Azobisisobutyronitril
und die Dissoziierung, die das erforderliche Alkylradikal liefert, verläuft wie folgt:

bar bei der Herstellung der polymeren Stabilisatoren der vorliegenden
Erfindung, wobei brauchbare Peroxydinitiatoren diejenigen
sind, die in der Lage sind, momentan zu Alkyl- oder Arylradikalen
sich zu zersetzen. Das Alkyl- oder Arylradikal'erhält
man entweder durch momentane Zersetzung oder durch eine XImIadungsreaktion
der primären Zersetzungsprodukte der Peroxydverbindungen. Von den Peroxyden sind z.B. die aliphatischen Acylperoxyde
am brauchbarsten und ein bevorzugtes aliphatisches Peroxyd ist Acetylperoxyd. Die Zersetzung dieser Verbindung in
Alkylradikale kann wie folgt beschrieben werden:

Die Reaktion II folgt momentan der Reaktion I. In Anwesenheit
von Jod wird lediglich CH^J is.oliert, was ein Beweis für die sofortige
oder momentane Bildung des Methylradikals ist. Zusätzlich
zu Acetylperoxyd sind Lauroylperoxyd. und Decanoylperoxyd
die bevorzugten Peroxyde und andere aliphatisch^ Acylperoxyde, die bis zu 18 Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten, sind ebenfalls als
Initiatoren bei der Polymerisation der oben genannten Monomeren geeignet. Derartige Peroxydverbindungen schließen ein Propionylperoxyd,
Butyrylperoxyd, Isobutyrylperoxyd, Cyclobutanacetylperoxyd,
Heptanoylperoxyd, Caprylylperoxyd, Cyclohexanacetylperoxyd,
Nonanoylperoxyd, Myristoylperoxyd, Stearoylperoxyd u. dgl.
Eine weitere Gruppe von Peroxyden, die verwendet werden können,
sind die Ketonperoxyde und die Aldehydperoxyde. Es wurde gefunden,
daß, wenn man die oben genannten Peroxyde verwendet, sich lediglich eine teilweise Polymerisation der Benzoatmonomeren ergibt,
was darauf hinweist, daß die Alkylradikale momentan während der Zersetzung gebildet wurden. Jedoch ergaben die Ketonperoxyde
und die Aldehydperoxyde im allgemeinen niedrigere Ausbeuten an polymeren Stabilisatoren und manchmal erhielt man
auch gelb gefärbte Polymere, was darauf hinweist, daß neben der Polymerisationsreaktion auch eine Oxydation der sterisch gehinderten
phenolischen Gruppe eintrat.
Die erfindungsgemässen Polymeren schließen ein Homopolymere der

oben beschriebenen Monomeren und Mischpolymere davon mit anderen äthylenisch ungesättigten Monomeren. Die Polymerisation der
Monomeren kann in der Masse,in der Lösung, in der Suspension oder in der Emulsion nach bekannten Verfahren durchgeführt werden.
Das bevorzugte Polymerisationsverfahren ist das Lösungspolymerisationsverfahren
unter Verwendung von Lösungsmitteln, v/ie Benzol, Toluol, Xylol und anderen aromatischen Lösungsmitteln
oder chlorierten Lösungsmitteln, wie Chloroform, Tetrachloräthylen u. dgl., und unter Verwendung von Initiatoren, wie sie oben
beschrieben wurden in Mengen, die zwischen 0,01 % und 2 %, bezogen
auf das Gewicht der Monomeren, variieren. Die Polymerisationstemperaturen hängen von dem verwendeten Initiator ab und
liegen im allgemeinen zwischen A-O und 1000C.
Es wurde auch gefunden, daß, wenn man die Polymerisation durchführt,
man das Lösungsmittel vorteilhafterweise durch die Verwendung von entweder Distearylthiodipropionat oder Dilaurylthiodipropionat
ersetzen kann. Diese Verbindungen p^'.nd im all^-
gemeinen als "Synergisten" bekannt, da sie die Wirksamkeit von Antioxydantien einschließlich der polymeren Benzoate der vorliegenden
Erfindung zu steigern in der Lage sind. Durch Verwenden von entweder Distearylthiodipropionat oder Dilaurylthiodipropionat
als Lösungsmittel bei dem oben beschriebenen Polymerisationsverfahren
ergeben sich zwei wichtige Vorteile: (1) Die Lösungsmittelabtrennungsstufe nach der Polymerisation wird vermieden
und (2) die Benzoatpolymerisat/Synergisten-Mischung verfestigt sich bei Raumtemperatur nach der Polymerisation zu einer
weißen Masse, die leicht pulverisiert werden kann. Derartige Pulver sind als Additive bevorzugt, verglichen mit hoch viskosen
oder festen Polymeren. Die oben genannten Synergistika werden in Verhältnissen von etwa drei Teilen Synergist zu einem
Teil Antioxydans verwendet.
Es sollte erwähnt werden, daß bei der Herstellung von Oligomeren, d.h. bei Benzoaten mit niedrigem Molekulargewicht, die Polymerisation
wünschenswerterweise in Anwesenheit von Kettenübertragungsmitteln durchgeführt wird, wie z.B. Mercaptanen. Beispiele
derartiger Kettenübertragungsmittel sind Alkylmercaptane, wie n-Octyl-, n-Dodecyl-, n-Hexadecylmercaptene, etc.

Comonomere sind wichtig bei der Synthese von oligomeren und polymeren
Stabilisatoren dadurch, daß sie die physikalischen Eigenschaften des polymeren Stabilisators modifizieren können, d.h.
die Löslichkeitseigenschaften als auch die Eigenschaften.des
Feststoffs des polymeren Stabilisators können beeinfluß werden und zusätzlich können teure Monomere teilweise durch weniger
teure Comonomere ersetzt werden.
Das Verhalten der erfindungsgemässen Monomeren bei der Mischpolymerisation
ist aufgrund ihrer Monomerenklassen vorhersagbar,
d.h. ein Monomeres des Acelattyps verhält sich ähnlich wie ein Alkylacylat. In gleicher Weise verhält sich ein Monomeres der
Fumaratart bei der Mischpolymerisation,wie ein Alkylfumarat. Comonomere, die bei der Mischpolymerisation mit Acrylaten, Fumaraten
und Itakonaten verwendet werden können, sind gut bekannt und sind z.B. genauer von C.E. Schildknecht, "Vinyl and Related
Polymers", veröffentlicht von John Wiley and Sons, New York, 1952, beschrieben worden.
Wenn erfindungsgemässe Acrylatmonomere verwendet werden, sind
die bevorzugten Comonomere Alkyl- (1 bis 24- Kohlenstoffatome)
-acrylate und Methacrylate, Styrole, Vinylester, Butadiene und Isoprene, einschließlich chlorierte oder fluorierte Derivate dieser
Verbindungen. Wenn Fumarat- und Itakonat- und verwandte Diestermonomere
verwendet werden, sind die bevorzugten Comonomeren Vinyläther, Vinylester, a-Olefine, vorzugsweise Propylen, Butylen
und Isobutylen, Styrole und Vinylmonomere, insbesondere stickstoffhaltige Vinylpyridine und Vinylpyrrolidone.
Die erfindungsgemässen Polymeren (Polymerisate) sind brauchbar
als außergewöhnlich gute Ultraviolettlichtstabilisatoren für organische
Materialien, die sonst durch ultraviolettes Licht zersetzt werden. Materialien, die somit gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung
stabilisiert werden können, schließen ein synthetische, organische, polymere Substanzen, wie Harze, die gebildet wurden
durch die Polymerisation von Vinylmonomeren oder durch PoIykondensationsreaktionen,
z.B. Polyvinylhalogenide, Polyvinylester, polymere Aldehyde und ungesättigte Kohlenwasserstoffe,
wie Polybutadiene, Poly-a-olefine, wie Polyäthylen, Polypropy-

len, Polybutylen, Polyisopren u. dgl., eingeschlossen Mischpolymerisate
von Poly-ct-olefinen, Polyurethane, wie diejenigen,
die man aus Polyolen und organischen Polyisocyanaten erhält; Polyamide, wie Polyhexamethylenadipinsäureamid und Polycaprolactam,
Polyester, wie Polymethylen- oder Polyathylenterephthalate;
Polycarbonate; Polyacetale; Polystyrol; Polyäthylenoxyd; und Mischpolymerisate wie diejenigen Mischpolymerisate aus Butadien
und Styrol, die hochstoßfestes Polystyrol enthalten und diejenigen, die durch die Mischpolymerisation von Acrylnitril,
Butadien und/oder Styrol erhalten wurden. Andere Materialien, die gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung stabilisiert werden können,
schließen ein Schmieröle der aliphatischen Esterart, ,. z.B. Di-(2-äthylhexyl)-azelat, Pentaerythrittetracaproat u. dgl.;
tierische und pflanzliche Fette, z.B. Leinsamenöl, Fett, Talg, Schmalz, Erdnußöl, Dorschlebertran, Ricinusöl, Palmöl, Maisöl,
Baumwollsamenöl u. dgl., Kohlenwasserstoffmaterialien, wie Benzin, Mineralöl, Brennstofföl, Trockenöl, Schneidflüssigkeiten,
Wachse, Harze u. dgl., Fettsäuren, Seifen u. dgl.
Im allgemeinen werden die erfindungsgemässen Stabilisatoren in
Mengen von etwa 0,05 % bis etwa 10 Gew.-% der stabilisierten
Zusammensetzung verwendet. Ein besonders vorteilhafter Bereich für Polyolefine, wie Polypropylen, ist etwa 0,1 % bis etwa 1 %.
Obwohl die Polymerisate brauchbar sind als Stabilisatoren per
se liegt ihr größter Vorteil darin, daß sie in der Lage sind, die Wirksamkeit einer Vielzahl anderer Verbindungen, insbesondere
phenolischer Verbindungen, beträchtlich zu steigern, die als Stabilisatoren für organische Materialien verwendet werden,
die normalerweise der Zersetzung unterliegen. Somit können die erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen als "Synergistika" bezeichnet
werden, da sie, wenn sie mit Stabilisatoren kombiniert werden, die Fähigkeit zeigen, die Gesamtstabilisierung zu einem Grad
zu steigern, der weit denjenigen übersteigt, der aufgrund der Additiveigenschaften der einzelnen Komponenten erwartet werden
würde. Die Stabilisatoren, mit denen die erfindungsgemässen Verbindungen kombiniert werden können, sind im allgemeinen phenolische
Triazine,phenolische Phosphonate, phenolische Ester und

ist, wie z.B. Polypropylen, Polyäthylen, Nylon, PoIyacetal, Polyurethan, Styrol/Butadien-Kautschuk, Acrylnitril/
Butadien/Styrol-Kautschuk u. dgl., das polymere Antioxydans ein
relativ niedriges Molekulargewicht haben sollte, d.h. es sollte eine oligomere Substanz sein, d.h. ein Polymeres mit einem
Molekulargewicht zwischen etwa 400 und etwa 6000. Die nützlichsten und die besten Stabilisationsaktivitäten wurden erzielt
durch die Verwendung von Oligomeren mit einem Molekulargewicht zwischen etwa 500 und etwa 1500.
Polymere Benzoate mit einem höheren Polymerisationsgrad sind
nicht mit Polymerisaten mit hohem Molekulargewicht verträglich und daher weniger wirksam bei Substraten dieser Art.
Es wurde auch gefunden, daß, wenn das gegen die oxydative Zersetzung
oder gegen die Zersetzung, die durch ultraviolettes Licht hervorgerufen wird, zu schützende polymere Material kein
festes Material ist, sondern eine Flüssigkeit oder eine Semi-

flüssigkeit ist, wie z.B. ein öl oder ein Wachs, die polymeren
Stabilisatoren ein höheres Molekulargewicht aufweisen können, d.h. ein Molekulargewicht, das größer ist als etwa 6000. Mit
einem höheren Polymerisationsgrad können manchmal weitere Vorteile
erzielt werden. Z.B. wirken bei Ölen polymere Stabilisatoren mit hohem Molekülargewicht zusätzlich als Verdickungsmittel
und Viskositätsindexverbesserer.
Wie weiter oben angegeben, sind die erfindungsgemässen polymeren
Benzoate nützlich als Additive zu verschiedenen polymeren
Systemen. Jedoch ist es auch möglich, geringe Mengen eines erfindungsgemässen Monomeren mit anderen Monomeren, die. Polymerisate
bilden, die gegen die oxydative Zersetzung geschützt werden müssen, mischzupolymerisieren. In einem derartigen FaIl
bildet der erfindungsgemässe Monomerenrest einen integrierten
Bestandteil des Polymerisatsystems. Geringe Mengen der vorliegenden Monomeren können daher mit Butadien/Styrol, Acrylnitril/
Butadien/Styrol, Äthylen und anderen Monomeren mischpolymerisiert
werden, die Polymerisate bilden, die einen Schutz gegen die oxydative Zersetzung erfordern. Somit können in Abhängigkeit
von der Endverwendung erfindungsgemässe Monomerenreste
Teil eines Oligomeren oder eines Polymerisatsystems mit hohem
Molekulargewicht sein. Die Mengen an erfindungsgemässen Monomeren, die mischpolymerisiert werden können, können zwischen etwa
0,05 bis etwa 5 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise von etwa 0,1 bis etwa 2 %,
variieren.
Die polymeren Stabilisatoren können unter Verwendung üblicher Verfahren in Polymerisate eingearbeitet werden.- Z.B. können die
Stabilisatoren durch Jede geeignete Vorrichtung in die Substrate eingearbeitet werden, z.B. durch Vermählen des Stabilisators
auf heißen oder kalten Mischwalzen, in einem Banbury-Mischer oder in anderen gut bekannten Vorrichtungen dieser Art, oder
durch Einarbeiten in ein Formpulver. Das Antioxydans kann auch in eine Lösung des Polyolefinmaterials eingearbeitet werden und
diese Lösung kann dann zur Herstellung von Folien,beim Naß-
oder Trockenverspinnen von Fasern, Monofilamenten o. dgl. verwendet werden.

Zu einer Lösung von 0,1 Mol 2-Hydroxyalkyl-acrylat in 30 g
trockenem Pyridin gab man langsam eine Lösung von 0,1 Mol 3,5-Di-(niedrig)-alkyl-4-hydroxy-benzoylchlorid
in 50 g trockenem Benzol. Während der Zugabe wurde die Temperatur der Reaktionsmischung auf 5°C gehalten und dann ließ man die Mischung sich
auf Raumtemperatur erwärmen. Nach einer Stunde bei Baumtemperatur wurde das ausgefallene Pyridinhydrochlorid durch Filtration
abgetrennt und das Lösungsmittel im Filtrat wurde mit einem Rotationsverdampfer
verdampft. Der Rückstand wurde in Äther wieder aufgelöst, mit In-Chlorwasserstoffsäure und Wasser gewaschen.
Die Ätherschicht wurde dann über Natriumsulfat getrocknet, filtriert
und der Äther verdampft. Der erhaltene Rückstand kann destilliert oder aus Heptan umkristallisiert werden.
Eine Lösung von 0,133 Mol 2-Hydroxyalkylacrylat in 30 g Methylenchlorid
wurde zu einer heftig gerührten Lösung von 0,133 Mol 3,5-Di-(niedrig)-alkyl-4-hydroxybenzoylchlorid in 5"O g Methylenchlorid
bei Raumtemperatur gegeben. Nach Beendigung der. Zugabe wurde die Reaktionsmischung 6 Stunden am Rückfluß gehalten,
auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt und über 100 g neutrales Aluminiumoxyd filtriert, um Spuren von nicht-umgesetztem Säurechlorid
zu entfernen. Nach dem Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels
wird der erhaltene Rückstand zweimal aus einer Hexan/Benzol-Mischung (4/1) umkristallisiert.
Benzoatmonomere 1 bis 5 wurden hergestellt
durch Veresterung der genannten Säurechloride und Alkohole unter Verwendung der synthetischen Verfahren, die in den oben genannten
Verfahren I und II beschrieben wurden.

100 Teile einer Mischung von 2-(3-ÄM;hyl-5-tert.~butyl-4-hydroxybenzoyloxy)-äthylcrotonat
und n-Dodecylmercaptan in molaren Verhältnissen von 10 : 1, 300 Teile Chloroform und ein Teil
Azo-bis-isobutyronitril wurden in einerAmpulle unter Stickstoff
versiegelt und 16 Stunden "bei 700C polymerisiert. Die entstehende
Polymerisatlösung wurde in der 20-fachen Menge Hexan unter
heftigem Rühren ausfällt. Das ausgefällte Polymere wurde filtriert und getrocknet und in Form eines weißen, spröden Pulvers
erhalten. Λ
100 Teile einer Mischung von äquimolaren Mengen von Benzoatmonomeren
der Beispiele 2 oder 3 und eines der weiter unten angegebenen
Comonomeren, 300 Teile Chloroform und ein Teil Azo-bisisobutyronitril
wurden in einer Ampulle unter Stickstoff versiegelt und 16 Stunden bei 700C polymerisiert. Die entstehenden
Polymerisatlösungen wurden zu 10 %-igen Lösungen in Chloroform verdünnt und in der 20-fachen Menge mit Methanol ausgefällt.
Die alternierenden Mischpolymerisate wurden in Form von M
weißen brüchigen Pulvern erhalten. Die Comonomeren, die verwendet wurden, um· die alternierenden Mischpolymerisate mit den
Fumarat- und Itakonatmonomeren der Beispiele 2 und 3 zu erhalten,
waren:
Vinyläther, wie Methyl-, Äthyl-, Butyl-, Hexyl-, 2-Methoxyäthyl-
und 2-Chloräthy1vinyläther,
Vinylester, wie Vinylacetat, Vinylpropionat,'Vinylbenzoat und.
Isopropenylacetat,
oc-Olefine, wie Isobuten,
Styrol und substituierte Styrole, wie ρ-Chiorstyrol.

Mischpolymerisate, die 1 bis 10 Gew.-% der Monomeren der Beispiele
4 oder 5*und 90 bis 99 Gew.-% Styrol enthalten, wurden
hergestellt unter Verwendung des Lösungspolymerisationsverfahrens
mit Benzol als Lösungsmittel und Azo-bis-isobutyronitril als Initiator. Die Mischung wurde in einem Gefäß unter Stickstoff
versiegelt und 17 Stunden bei 7O0C polymerisiert.
Bei diesem Beispiel wurden die LichtStabilisierungseigenschaften
der in den Beispielen 6 und 8 hergestellten Polymerisate bewertet. Der Test wurde an einer Vorrichtung mit fluoreszierendem
Sonnenlicht und Ultraviolettlicht (PS/BL unit), im wesentlichen eine Konstruktion der American Cyanamid, durchgeführt, die 40
alternierende Leuchtröhren mit fluoreszierendem Sonnenlicht und Ultraviolettlicht (Jeweils 20) enthält. Die 0,655 mm (25
mil) Probenplatten, die auf weißen Karton aufgebracht sind, wurden auf einer rotierenden Trommel 5^08 cm (2 inches) von den
Lampen entfernt" angebracht. Die Platten wurden in der Beleuchtungsvorrichtung (FS/BL unit) belichtet, bis sie genügend brüchig
waren, so daß sie, wenn man sie um 180° bog, glatt abbrachen. Die stabilisierten Polymerisate zeigten eine gute Widerstandsfähigkeit
gegenüber der Zersetzung durch actinisches Licht.

1. Polymere, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie sich wie derholende Einheiten der Monomerengruppen der allgemeinen For
mel

wiederholende Einheiten der Monomerengruppen der in Anspruch 1 angegebenen allgemeinen Formel enthalten.
3· Homopolymere, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie sich
wiederholende Einheiten der Monomerengruppen der in Anspruch 1
angegebenen allgemeinen Formel, worin beide (Niedrig)—alkylgrüppen
tertiäre Gruppen sind und in ortho-Stellung zu der Hydroxygruppe
stehen, enthalten.
4. Mischpolymerisate, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie
sich wiederholende Einheiten der Konomerengruppen der in Anspruch
1 angegebenen allgemeinen Formel sowie Monomereneinheiten, die eich von mindestens einem Comonomeren, wie AlkylaCrylat,
Alkylmethacrylat, Styrolen, Vinylester, Butadien oder Isopren, ableiten, enthalten.
^. Mischpolymerisate, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie
Fumarat- oder Itakonatmonomereneinheiten der in Anspruch 1 angegebenen
allgemeinen Formel s;owie Monomereneinheiten, die sich
von mindestens einem Comonomeren, wie Vinyläther, Vinylester, cc-Olefinen, Styrolen oder N-Vinylmonomeren, ableiten, enthalten.
6. Verfahren zur Herstellung der Homopolymeren gemäß
Anspruch 3» dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
a) ein Monomeres, das sich von einer.<x,ß-ungesättigten Säure
und einer Benzoesäure, die eine sterisch gehinderte Gruppe aufweist, ableitet, und
b) einen freie Radikale liefernden Initiator unter Polymerisationsbedingungen
umsetzt.
7. ' Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Monomere ein Acrylat, ein Fumarat oder ein Itakonat ist.
8. Verwendung der Polymeren gemäß Anspruch 1 zur Stabilisierung
von organischem. Material, das normalerweise der

Zersetzung diix-ch ultraviolettes Licht unterworfen ist.
9. Verwendung gemäß .Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
dfiß das zu stabilisierende organische Material ein Polyolefin
ist.
10. Verwendung gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Polyolefin ein Polypropylen ist.
11. Verwendung gemäß Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß zusätzlich ein phenolischer Stabilisator zugesetzt
wird.
12. Verwendung gemäß Anspruch 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das organische Material ein Polyolefin ist.
13. Verwendung gemäß Anspruch 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß das Polyolefin Polypropylen ist.
14. Verwendung gemäß Anspruch 13i dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß zusätzlich ein Ultraviolettlichtabsorber, wie 2-(2'-Hydroxy-31,5'-di-tert.-butylphenyl)-7-chlorbenztriazol
verwendet wird.
