Schmiermittelzusatz und dessen Verwendung in
Schmiermitteln für Gasturbinen
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Belastung tragender
Zusatz, der im wesentlichen aus
1) einem Phosphorderivat, wie verzweigtkettlgen Alkylphosphonaten oder halogenieren Alkylphosphaten
in Mischung mit
2) sulfurierter Oleinsäure und
3) Sebacinsäure
besteht. Das erfindungsgemäfle,Belastung tragende Zusatzgemisch
(load carrying additive composition) eignet sich zur Verwendung In Verbindung mit VorratsflUselgkeiten
auf der Basis von multi-funktloneIlen Estern
(multifunctional ester base stock fluids). Auoh können
noch andere Zusätze wie Antioxidantien, Mittel zur
Verbesserung (improver) eines niedrigen Vlskosltätsindex, Metall-Desaktlvatoren, Mittel zur VersohleIB-minderung (anti-wear agents) sowie Korrosionsinhibitoren zugemisoht werden.
Die Einführung von Düsenflugzeugen brachte neue Probleme
hinsiohtlioh der Schmierung mit sieh. Man erkannte sehr
bald, daß Mineralölgemische den für derartige Motoren gestellten Anforderungen nicht entsprachen. Sogar Mineralöle, die ein oder mehrere Zusätze enthielten, erwiesen
sich als unzureichend.
Um diesen Problemen bei Schmierung von Düsenflugzeugen entgegenzutreten, entwickelte man daher zunächst Schmiermittel auf Basis synthetischer Ester. Es wurden eine ganze
Reihe von Estern ausprobiert, aber nur einige als BaslsflUssigkelten für die Formulierung von Gasturbinen-Schmiermitteln eingesetzt. Der erste, in großem Umfang verwendete
Ester war Di-2-Mthylhexyl-sebaoat. Wurde dieser Ester mit
Antioxytntien formuliert, so genügte das daraus hervorgehende Gemisch den in Spezifikation MIL-L-7808E allgemein-zusammengefaßten Bedingungen für die erste Generation von DUsenmotoren. Die zweite Generation oder de» weiter entwickelte
Typ von DUsenmotoren, d.h. der Ventilatortyp (turbo-fan
type) arbeitet bei hoher Temperatur und macht daher Schmiermittel erforderlich, deren Eigenschaften jenen der mit den
Diestern formulierten SohmlerflUssigkeiten überlegen sein

Im Vergleich zur ersten verwendeten Generation von Estern, deren typischer Vertreter der vorgenannte
Sebaoatester 1st« erwiesen sich diese Ester als
termischstabller. Triester wurden aus trlfunktloneIlen
Alkoholen (oder Polyölen) wie Trimethylolpropan und
Tetraester aus Pentaerythrit hergestellt. Die zur Bildung der TrI- und Tetraester verwendeten Säuren sind
im allgemeinen gerad- oder verzwelgtkettige aliphatisch«

Die derzeitigen Bestrebungen bei jetzigen Modellen und Prototypen von Düsenflugzeug-Gasturbinenmotoren führten
zu einem erhöhten Bedarf an verbesserter thermischer und oxydativer Stabilität sowie Sauberkeit der Schmiermittel.
Diese höheren Temperaturanforderuneen bedingten« daß neue
Produkte zu formulieren waren, die bei gleichbleibend
guter Schmierung unter extremer thermischer Beanspruchung

Man erkannte sofort, tl&I κ ^ Schmiermittel, wie die
synthetischen .Ester, die strengen Anforderungen erfüllen
konnte. Durch keine der bisher dafür bekannten Zusatzmittel
oder Kombinationen der Zusätze konnte die Schmiermittel-Grundsubstanz,
so weit verstärkt werden, dai die gesetzten
Forderungen erreicht wurden. Es muSte eine Sohmiermittel-Grundsubstanz
gesucht werten, -die in Verbindung mit.einer
Reihe von Zusatzstoff·» die .Entwicklung einer endgültigen,,.
den Anforderungen der Oasturbinenmotoren genügenden Schmier»
mittelkombinatlon «möglictht.

Es wurde nun gefunden, dass durch Verwendung multifunktioneiler Ester, wie bi-, tri-oder tetrafunktioneller Ester oder Gemische derselben als Grundbestandteil ein Schmiermittel Bit aussergewohnlichen,
Belastung tragenden Eigenschaften hergestellt werden kann. Der erfindungsgemäese, Belastung tragende Zusatz besteht im wesentlichen aus einem Phosphorderivat,
wie difunktionelle Phosphonaten, Triarylphosphaten oder
Gemischen beider in Verbindung mit eulfurierter Oleinsäure und Sebacinsäure.
In der Praxis der vorliegenden Erfindung wird zunächst ein synthetischer di-, tri- oder tetrafunktioneller
Ester durch Reaktion des entsprechenden Alkohols mit einer organischen Säure hergestellt. Vorzugsweise wird
der trifunktionelle Ester durch Reaktion von Trimethyl- '
olpropan, Trimethyloläthan, Glycol oder Glycolestern
mit einer organischen Säure, wie Trimellithsäure, Heptanc ar bonsäure, Val&erianaäure, Feiargonsäure oder anderen
organischen Säuren mit 4 bis 16 C-Atomen gebildet« Bas
mult!funktionellβ Polyesterharz lässt sich durch Reaktion
von Pentaerythrit, Dipentaerythrit und deren Gemischen
mit einer organischen Säure, wie Trimellithsäure, Heptancarboneäure, Valeriansäure, Pelargonsäure oder
anderen organischen Säuren mit 4 bis 18 C-Atomen herstellen. Man kann aber auch eine trifunktionelle organische Säure, wie 1,3, J-Triearboxypeutan^00*1**0 Mid)
mit eines monofunktionellen Alkohol, wie 2-Äthylhexylalkohol, n-Heptylalkohol oder anderen aliphatischen
Alkoholen mit 4 bis 18 C-Atomen umsetzen.
Nach Herstellung der multifunktioneilen Ester werden diese
zur Verbesserung ihrer Belastung tragenden Eigenschaften mit einer Kombination von Zusatzmitteln versetzt. Letztere

ist ein Gemisch, das von 0,1 bis 5 Gew.-$ einen Phosphorderivates,
wie verzweigtkettige Alkylphosphonate oder halogenierte Alkylphosphate enthält. Spezielle Phosphorderivate
sind Bis-(2-äthylhexyl)-2-äthylhexylphosphonat,
Tris-(2-chloräthyl)-phosphat und Gemische cferselben. Die
Phosphorderivate werden mit etwa 0,01 bis etwa 0,10 Gew.-i»
sulfurierter Oleinsäure und mit etwa 0,005 bis 0,10 i»
Sebacinsäure vermischt. Obige, auf Gewichtsbasis angegebene Prozentsätze beziehen sich auf die gesamtevorhandene
Flüssigkeit.
Gegebenenfalls können dem Grundmaterial noch andere Zusatzmittel,
so z.B. die üblichen Antioxidantien, Mittel
zur Verbesserung des Viskositäteindex, Korrosionsinhibitoren,
Mittel zur Verschleissminderung sowie Metall-Desaktivatoren in herkömmlicher Weise beigemischt werden.
Im Standard-Getriebetest gemäss Federal Test Method Standard
No. 791A Methode 6508 verbessert die Belastung tragende
Zusatzkombination die Belastung tragenden Eigenschaften der Schmiermittel.
Nachstehende Beispiele dienen der Erläuterung der Erfindung:
Ein Gemisch wurde durch Vermischen der folgenden Stoffe
formuliert:
Dioctyladipat 44,0°
Mit Azelainsäure zu einer Viskosität von 5,6 - 6,0 Centistoiebei 99 C

Nach Vermischung der aufgeführten Bestandteile zu einer gleichmässigen homogenen Flüssigkeit wurde diese geprüft.
Der Getriebelast-Normalversuch nach Ryder ergab einen Durchschnitt von 449,17 kg/cm fIDs/in). Bei der
Kontrollflüssigkeit ohne Zusatzmittel lag der Wert unter 339,34 kg/cm (19OO lbs/in.)
Ein Gemisch wurde durch Vermischen der folgenden Stoffe formuliert:

Nach Vermischung der genannten Bestandteile zu einer
gleichmässigen homogenen Flüssigkeit wurde diese geprüft. Der Ge triebelast-Jfonnal versuch nach Bydvr ergab
einen Durchschnitt von 479,54 kg/o* (2683 lbs/in.),
während bei der Kontrollflüssigkeit ohne Zusatmittel
der Wert unter 339134 kg/cm (1900 Ibs/in.) lag.

Claims (1)
- Patentansprüche1. Schmiermittelzusatz geeignet als Belastung tragender Zusatz für Schmiermittel auf der Basis synthetischer Ester, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß er im wesentlichen aus einem Gemisch aus1) verzweigtkettigen Alkylphosphaten, halogenierten Alkylphospnaten oder Gemischen derselben,2) sulfurierter Oleinsäure und
5) Sebacinsäure besteht.2. Schmiermittelzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Phosphorderivat Bis-(2-äthylhexyl)-2-äthylhexylphosphonat ist.J5. Schmiermittelzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Phosphorderivat Tris-(2-chloräthyI)-phosphat ist.4. Schmiermittelzusatz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Phosphorderivat in einer Menge zwischen 0,1 und 5 Gew.-%, die sulfurierte Oleinsäure in einer Menge zwischenA 0,01 und etwa 0,10 Gew.-# und die Sebacinsäure in einer Menge zwischen 0,005 und 0,10 Gew.-# bezogen auf das Gesamtgewicht der Flüssigkeit enthalten ist.5.
