Die Erfindung betrifft synthetische Hochdruckschmiermittel von einer außergewöhnlichen Fähigkeit, höchsten
Drücken zu widerstehen, die Gemische von Dicarbonsäuredialkylcstern,
Komplexestern und kritischen Mengen zweier polymcrisierter Alkylsilicone verschiedener Molekulargewichte
enthalten.
Um die anspruchsvollen Anforderungen an Schmieröle zu erfüllen, die sich zur Schmierung bewegter Metallteile
bei höchsten Drücken und Temperaturen eignen sollen, hat es sich als notwendig erwiesen, Schmiermittel von
besonderer Beschaffenheit zu entwickeln. Mineralschmieröle sind, selbst wenn sie große Mengen verschiedener
bekannter Zusätze enthalten, zur Schmierung von Turbinenstrahltriebwerken und TurbincnpiOpellermaschinen
für Flugzeuge ungeeignet. Die Mineralschmieröle des Standes der Technik haben infolge ihrer
mangelnden Beständigkeit bei hohen Temperaturen, ihres unzureichenden üruckaufnahmevermögens oder der
zu starken Temperaturabhängigkeit ihrer Viskosität allgemein für diese Anwendungszweeke versagt.
Die Erfindung betrifft synthetische Schmieröle mit Eigenschaften, die sie fur derartige Anwendungszweeke
äußerst geeignet machen. Diese Schmieröle besitzen eine günstige Beziehung zwischen Temperatur und
Viskosität, gute Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen höchste Drücke und andere vorteilhafte Eigenschaften, infolge
deren sie den strengen Normen entsprechen, die von der Heeresverwaltung für diese Anwendungszweeke aufgestellt
worden sind. Die neuen synthetischen Schmiermittel enthalten im Gemisch einen Dicarbonsäuredialkylester,
einen aus drei Bestandteilen, nämlich einem verzweigtkettigen Alkohol, einer Dicarbonsäure und einem
Glykol hergestellten Komplexester und kritische Mengen zweier verschiedener polymerisierter Alkylsilicone. Für
die Mengenanteile der verschiedenen Komponenten bestehen bestimmte kritische Grenzen, die nachstehend
erörtert werden.
Der Hauptbestandteil ist ein Dialkylester einer Dicarbonsäure. Diese Ester entsprechen der allgemeinen

Hierin bedeutet R eine verzweigtkettige Alkylgruppe mit 6 bis 10 C-Atomen. Diese Alkylgruppe kann von
sekundären und bzw. oder primären Alkoholen wie Isohexyl-, sek. Hexyl-, 2-Äthylbutyl-, Isoheptyl-, sek.
Heptyl-, Isooctyl-, Capryl-, 2-Äthylhexyl-, Isononyl-,
Isodecylalkohol und ähnlichen Alkoholen abgeleitet sein. In Anbetracht der höheren Wärmebeständigkeit der
Produkte bei hohen Temperaturen werden die Ester primärer Alkohole gegenüber denjenigen sekundärer
Alkohole bevorzugt. Von den erfindungsgemäß verwendbaren verzweigtkettigen Alkoholen werden die bekannten

bevorzugt. Der durch Carbonylierung eines Cj-Olefins in Gegenwart eines Kobaltkatalysators bei
höheren Temperaturen und Drücken erhaltene Isooctylalkohol wird besonders für die Veresterung mit Adipinsäure
und bzw. oder Azelainsäure bevorzugt, während für die Veresterung mit Sebacinsäure 2-Äthylhexylalkohol
bevorzugt wird.
Als Dicarbonsäuren zur Herstellung der Diester kommen Bernsteinsäure, Glutarsäure, Adipinsäure,
Pimelinsäure, Korksäure, Azelainsäure und Sebacinsäure in Betracht, von denen Azelainsäure und Sebacinsäure
besonders bevorzugt werden. Die obige Formel gilt für die angegebenen Säuren unter der Voraussetzung, daß η
einen Wert von 2 bis 8 besitzt.
Einen Komplexester als Bestandteil für das erfindungsgemäße Schmieröl erhält man durch Umsetzung eines
verzweigtkettigen Alkohols mit 6 bis 10 C-Atomen (z.B. 2-Äthylhexanol, C8-Oxoalkohol), einer Dicarbonsäure
mit 4 bis 10 C-Atomen (z. B. Sebacinsäure oder Adipinsäure) und eines Glykols mit 4 bis 12 C-Atomen (z. B.
Tetraäthylenglykol). Diese Komplexester besitzen die allgemeine Strukturformel

Hierin bedeutet R eine von verzweigtkettigen Alkoholen abgeleitete Alkylgruppe mit 6 bis 10 C-Atomen, χ cine

Die Herstellung der Komplexester erfolgt nach dem Stande der Technik und bildet keinen Teil der Erfindung.

Die Norm MIL-L-7808B betrifft Öle fur Turbinenstrahltriebwerke; die Norm MIL-L-25336 (USAF) betrifft Öle fiir Turbinen-Propellermaschinen,
d. h. Öle nach der Norm MIL-L-7808B, jedoch mit höherem Druckaufnahmevermogen.
Die SAE-SOD-Prüfung ist kein Erfordernis der MIL-L-7808B-Normen. Ein Schmieröl, das bei dieser Prüfung einen Weit von etwa 550 lbs gibt, liefert bei der Ryder-Getnebeprüfung einen Wert von etwa 1700 lbs/inch. Die Prüfung wird in dem SAE-Schmierölprüfgerät ausgeführt. Das Gerät wird zunächst rait dem Schmieröl 2 Minuten bei einer Belastung von 50 lbs betrieben, worauf der Druck alle 10 Sekunden um 50 lbs erhöht wird, bis Fressen erfolgt. Die Belastung, bei der Fressen stattfindet, wird verzeichnet und stellt das Druckaufnahmevermogen des Schmieröls dar.
Die SAE-SOD-Prüfung ist kein Erfordernis der MIL-L-7808B-Normen. Ein Schmieröl, das bei dieser Prüfung einen Weit von etwa 550 lbs gibt, liefert bei der Ryder-Getnebeprüfung einen Wert von etwa 1700 lbs/inch. Die Prüfung wird in dem SAE-Schmierölprüfgerät ausgeführt. Das Gerät wird zunächst rait dem Schmieröl 2 Minuten bei einer Belastung von 50 lbs betrieben, worauf der Druck alle 10 Sekunden um 50 lbs erhöht wird, bis Fressen erfolgt. In Anbetracht dessen, daß die Normen MIK-L-7808 und MlL-L-25336 eine Höchstviskosität \on 1300OcSt
bei —54° C verlangen, ist die Menge der zähflüssigeren
Komplexester, die in den ertindungsgeinaßen Schmiermitteln
enthalten scm dürfen, ohne daß die Anforderungen dieser Normen Überschlitten werden, beschrankt. Die
Menge an Komplexester hangt natürlich \ on dem beabsichtigten Vjskositatsbereich sowie von den Viskositäten
des Diesters und des Komplexeste! s ab. Die Viskositäten
der fur die Anwendung vortcilhaltcivn Diester liegen im
Hereich von 2,7 bis 3,5 cSt bei 98,1V1 C und 5000 bis
10000 cSt bei — ■ 54"T. Die Viskositäten der Komplexester
betragen etwa 7 bis 11 cSt bei 98.0c C und 100000
bis 50000OcSt (extrapoliert) bei - 54; (\

Es ist daher von Vorteil, wenn das lertige Schmieröl die

nut den Anforderungen an die Viskosität bei tiefen

Gemische, die aus dem Grundgemisch nach der Erfindung und dem Siliconpolymeren niedrigen Molekulargewichtes
bestehen, zeigen überraschenderweise eine Neigung zum Schäumen. Dies widerspricht der Ansicht
des Standes der Technik, wonach Siliconpolymere Schaumverhinderungsmittel
sein sollen. Um dieses unerwünschte Schäumen zum Verschwinden zu bringen, setzt man einen
sehr geringen Betrag (0,0001 bis 0,01, vorzugsweise 0,001 bis 0,005 Gewichtsprozent) eines Dimethylsiliconpolymeren
von hohem Molekulargewicht (Viskosität 10000 bis 1000000, vorzugsweise 60000 bis 20000OcSt
bei 25° C) zu dem ölgemisch zu. Die nachstehenden Werte zeigen die verbessernde Wirkung dieses Zusatzes.

Die Wirkung des Siliconpolymeren niedrigen Molekulargewichtes auf das Druckaufnahmevermögen des Grundgemisches
nach der Erfindung ist äußerst bemerkenswert, da die Ölgrundlage selbst und besonders auch das
Silicon als solches im Vergleich dazu schlechte Schmiermittel sind. Die ausgezeichnete Schmierfähigkeit des
Grundölgemisches mit einem niedrigen Gehalt an Siliconpolymeren ergibt sich aus den Werten der Tabelle D.
Man sieht, daß das Druckaufnahmevermögen des Öles bei Erhöhung des Gehaltes an Siliconpolymeren ein
Maximum erreicht und dann rasch auf einen Wert abfällt, der praktisch keine Verbesserung mehr darstellt.
Diese Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Höchstdrücke zeigt sich sowohl bei dem bekannten SAE-SOD-Belastungsprüfverfahren
als auch bei der Prüfung im Vierkugelapparat nach Shell. Diese Werte sind graphisch in Fig. 1
und 2 wiedergegeben. Aus Tabelle D und aus der Zeichnung ersieht man, daß eine maximale Widerslandsfähigkeit
gegen Höchstdrücke bei Gemischen auftritt, die etwa 10 bis 20 Gewichtsprozent des Siliconpolymeren
niederen Molekulargewichtes enthalten. In diesem Bereich besitzen die Dimethylsiliconmoleküle offenbar ihre
größte Adhäsionsenergie.

1. Hochdruckschmiermittel fur Turbinenstrahltriebwerke
und Turbinenpropellerniaschinen von Flugzeugen aiii der Basis eines Gemisches eines [)iestcrs
und eines Komplexeste] s, dadurch gekennzcichnet, daß es die folgenden Bestandteile enthalt.

auf die Schmierolgrundlage, 0 bis 3, vorzugsweise 1 Gewichtsprozent von als Schmiermittelbestandteil
bekanntem Tnkresylphosphat enthält.
