Die vorliegende Erfindung befaßt sich mit Bis-Cs-rczisch gehinderten
phenol)-alkanphosphonat-Verbindungen und Zusammensetzungen,
die durch die Einarbeitung dieser Verbindungen stabilisiert sind und die sonst der oxydativen Zersetzung
unterliegen würden.

Die erfindungsgemäßen Bis-(sterisch gehinderten phenol)-alkanphosphonate
können durch eine Vielzahl von Kondensationsverfahren hergestellt werden. Ein Verfahren besteht darin, daß man
ein Halogenalkylketon mi*- einem Phenol oder einem sterisch gehinderten
Phenol in Gegenwart einer Lewis-Säure kondensiert. Das entstehende Bis-(sterisch gehinderte phenol)-alkylhalogenid
wird dann mit einem trisubstituierten Phosphit oder natriumdisubstituierten
Phosphonat umgesetzt, wobei man das entsprechende Bis-isterisch gehinderte phenol )-alkanphosphonat erhält«,
Ein anderes Verfahren besteht darin, direkt ein Ketophosphonat mit einem sterisch gehinderten Phenol in Gegenwart einer Lewis-Säure
zu kondensierten.
Die verwendeten Ketophosphonate werden folgendermaßen hergestellt:

Die Hecsteiiungsveffahren dtr erfindungsgemäßen Verbindungen
werden in weiteren Einzelheiten zur Erläuterung in den Beispielen 1 bis 10 beschrieben, ohne jedoch darauf beschränkt

sind stabilisatoren für organische Materialien, die normalerweise der oxydativen Zersetzung unterliegen» Materialien,
die erfindungsgemäß stabilisiert werden können, schließen

die durch Polymerisation von Vinylhalogeniden oder durch A Mischpolymerisation von Vinylhalogeniden mit ungesättigten po«
lymerisierbaren Verbindungen, beispielsweise Vinylestern, a,ßungesättigten

Im allgemeinen werden die erfindungsgemäßen Stabilisatoren in
Mengen von etwa 0,005 bis etwa 10 Gewicht*»* der stabilisierten Zusammensetzung verwendet· Bin besonders bevorzugter Bereich für Polyolefine, wie Polypropylen, liegt »wischen etwa
0,01 und etwa 5 Gewichts-%,
Die erfindungsgemäßen Stabilisatoren können allein oder in Kombination mit anderen Stabilisatoren oder Zusatzstoffen verwendet werden· In gewissen Fällen ist die Verwendung einer Zusammensetzung, die eine erfindungsgemäße aktive Verbindung zusammen mit dem Stabilisator Dilauryl-ß-thiodipropionat oder Pistearyl-ß-thiodipropionat enthält, besonders wertvoll»
worin R eine Alkylgruppe mit 6 bis 24 Kohlenstoffatomen und

Herstellung von Diäthyl-2.2-bis-(3',5'-di-tert.-butyl^'-hydroxyphenyl)-l-propanphosphonat
propan ,
Zu einer Lösung, die 46,1 Teile Chloraceton, 206 Teile 2,6-Ditert.-butylphenol und 200 Volumenteile Äthylenchlorid enthält,
wurden 98 Teile Schwefelsäure zugefUgt. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde 2 Stunden bei -15 bis -100C gerührt .und in eine KÜhltni- g
schung aus 300 Teilen Eis und 300 Teilen Wasser gegossen. Die entstehende Dispersion wurde mit 3 1 Äthanol verdünnt und über
Nacht stehengelassen. Der Niederschlag wurde abfiltriert, getrocknet, in Hexan verrieben, und der entstehende Feststoff
lieferte nach Umkristall!sation aus η-Hexan das Produkt vom
F - 151 bis 153°C.
Berechnet: C 76,41 H 9,72 Cl 7,28%

B. Piathyl-2.2-bis-(3'. 5'-dl-tert.-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-1-propanphosphonat g
Zu 2,76 Teilen DiHthylphosphit, gelöst in 100 VoIumenteilen
Xylol, wurden 0,46 Teile Natrium zugegeben. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde auf 110°C erhitzt, bis das ganze Natrium umgesetzt war. Das Produkt des obigen Teils A wurde dann in 25 Volumenteilen Xylol gelöst und dann langsam zu der Reaktionsmischung bei 45 bis 50°C zugegeben. Die entstehende Reaktionsmischung wurde 3 Stunden auf 500C erhitzt und dann unter verminderten Druck zur Trockne eingedampft. Der Rückstand wurde in
50 Volumenteilen Methanol gelöst, zu der Methanollösung wurde Wasser bis zum Trübungspunkt zugegeben, und die Lösung wurde
dann filtriert. Das FiItrat wurde zur Trockne konzentriert,
und der Rückstand wurde aus Heptan urokristallisiert, wobei man das Produkt vom F » 156 bis 158°C erhielt.

Dimethyl-2,2-bis-(3',5'-dl-tert.-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-1-nonadecanphosphonat
Wurden 159 Teile l-Chlornonadecanon-2 gemäß Stufe A von Beispiel
1 umgesetzt, so erhielt man 2,2-Bts-(3',5'-di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-l-chlornonadecan,
das danach mit-2,2 Teilen Dimethylphosphit umgesetzt wurde, wie es im wesentlichen in
Stufe B beschrieben wurde, wobei man als entstehendes Produkt das Dimethyl-2,2-bis-(3·,5·-di-tert.-butyl-4·-hydroxyphenyl)-1-nonadecanphosphonat
erhielt»
Herstellung von Dimethyl-at,a-bls-(3,5-dilsopropyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-n-octadecylphosphonat
In ein mit Stickstoff gespültes Reaktionsgefäß gab man 15 g
Dimethyloctadecanoylphosphonat und 28,4 g 2,6-Diisopropylphenol.
Die Bestandteile wurde geschmolzen und dann auf 35 bis 4O0C abgekühlt
und mit Bortrifluorid gesättigt. Es war Kühlung erforderlich,
um die Temperatur unterhalb 40°C zu halten. Die Reaktionsmischung wurde 40 Minuten bei 50 bis 55°C gerührt und dann
in 40 ml Essigsäure gelöst, und dann wurde die Lösung auf zerkleinertes Eis gegossen« Die entstehende Mischung wurde mit
Benzol extrahiert, und der Extrakt wurde nacheinander mit 6n-Chlorwasserstoffsäure und Wasser gewaschen χχη&,άψιη über
wasserfreiem Natriumsulfat getrocknet. Das Lösungsmittel wurde bei 130°C und 0,4 mm Hg Druck abdestilliert, wobei man 29 g
eines Rückstands erhielt«, Der Rückstand wurde in 150 ml siedendem Acetonitril gelöst, und beim Abkühlen der Lösung erhielt
man einen Feststoff, der vermählen und mit Acetonitril verrieben wurde. Die entstehende Aufschlämmung wurde gekühlt, filtriert
und mit Acetonitril gewaschen, wobei man 2495 g des Produkts

Gemäß dem in Beispiel 3 beschriebenen Verfahren wurden 22,5 g
Dimethyloctadecanoylphosphonat mit 25,9 g o-Kresol umgesetzt, "
wobei man das Dimethyl-α,a-bis-(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-octadecylphosphonat
erhielt. Das Produkt war ein weißer kristalliner Feststof:
Äthylacetat.

Herstellung von Dimethyl-αta-bis-(4-hydroxyphenvl)~n-octadecylphosphonat
Gemäß dem in Beispiel 3 beschriebenen Verfahren wurden 26,3 g Dimethyloctadecanoylphosphonat mit 26,4 g Phenol umgesetzt, wobei
man das Dimethyl-α,a-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-n-octadecylphosphonat
in Form weißer Kristalle mit einem F = 169 bis 172°C nach aufeinanderfolgender Umkristallisation aus isopropanol und
Xthylacetat erhielt.
Berechnet: C 70,29 H 9,42 P 5^66 %

Herstellung von Dimethyl-g.a-bis-f 3. S-di-d'-methylheptadecyl )-4-hydroxyphenylj-n-octadecylphosphonat
Das Produkt von Beispiel 5, Dimethyl-α,a-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-octadecylphosphonat,
wurde in 1-Octadecen dispergiert, und dann
wurde Trifluoridgas durch die Dispersion geleitet. Die entstehende Reaktionsmischung wurde in Benzol gelöst, mit Wasser und
Natriumbicarbonat gewaschen, und dann wurde das Produkt durch ^,
übliche Verfahren isoliert.
Herstellung von Diphenyl-a,a-bis-(3,5-diisopropyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-nonanphosphat
Entsprechend dem Verfahren von Beispiel 3 wurde 2,6-Diisopropylphenol
mit Diphenyl-n-nonanoylphosphonat umgesetzt, wobei
man das Produkt erhielt.
Herstellung von Di-p-tert.-octvlphenvl-2.2-bis-(3'.5'-di-tert.-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-l-hexanphosphonat
Gemäß dem Verfahren von Beispiel 1 wird in Stufe A 2j6-Di-tert.-butyl-4-hydroxyphenol
mit l-Chlorhexanon-2 umgesetzt, wobei man
Φ als Zwischemprodukt das 2,2-Bis-(3· ,5l-di-tert,r-butyl-4lhydroxyphenyl)-l-chlorhexan
erhält. In Stufe B wird dieses Zwischenprodukt mit Di-p-tert.^octylphenylphosphit umgesetzt, um
das Produkt zu erhalten.
Herstellung von Ditriacontvl^StS-bis-U»,5'-di-tert,~butvl-4*-
hydroxyph eny1)-n-hexanph söphönat
Unter Anwendung des Verfahrens von Beispiel 1 wird in Stufe A
6-Brom-n-hexanon-2 mit 2,6-Di-tert*»butylphenöi umgesetzt, wobei
man als Zwischenprodukt das 2,2-BIs-O*,5f~di-tert.-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-6-btOifthexan
erhält. Dieses Zwischenprodukt

wird in Stufe B mit Bis-itriaccntyD-phosphit umgesetzt, wobei man das Ditriacontyl-5,5-bis-(3',5'-di-tert.-butyl-4·-
hydroxyphenyl)-n-hexanphosphonat erhält.
Herstellung von Didodecylbenzyl-octt-bis-PtS-diisopropyl·^-
hydroxyphenyl)-n-octadecylphosphonat
Entsprechend dem in Beispiel 3 beschriebenen Verfahren wird Didodecylbenzyloctydecanoylphosphonat
mit 2,6-Diisopropylphenol umgesetzt, um das Produkt zu erhalten.
Nicht-stabilsiertes Polypropylenpulver (Hercules Profax 6501) "
wird innig mit einem Antioxydans vermischt. Das gemischte Material wird dann auf einer Zwei-Walzen-Mühle bei 182°C 10 Minuten
gemahlen, wonach da«" stabilisierte Polypropylen aus der
Mühle in Folien entnommen und dann der Abkühlung überlassen wird.
Die gewalzte Polypropylenfolie wird dann in kleine Stücke geschnitten und 7 Minuten auf einer hydraulischen Presse bei
218°C und einem Druck von 141 kg/cm (2000 pounds per square
inch) gepreßt. Die entstehende Folie von 0,635 mm (25 mil)
Dicke wird dann in kleine Plättchen geschnitten und in einem
Druckluft-Ofen bei 150°C auf Widerstandsfähigkeit gegenüber g
beschleunigtem Altem geprüft.
Wenn nicht-stabiJLsiertes Polypropylen, wie oben beschrieben,
untersucht wird, so beträgt seine Ofenlebensdauer etwa 3 Stunden.
Die, gemäß dem oben beschriebenen .Ofenalterungstest hergestellten
Plättchen von 0,635 nun (25 mil) Dicke wurden auf weißem Pappkarton als Hintergrund befestigt und der Wirkung
eines Tadeometers ausgesetzt. Die Proben werden in Abständen
von 20 Stunden auf Sprödigkeit untersucht, indem man
sie bei 180°C biegt. Das Ergebnis dieses Versuchs wir<i ,. ^,

als Anzahl der Stunden angegeben, die die Probe in dem Fadeometer
verbleibt, bis ein klarer Bruch erhalten wird.
Nicht-stabilisiertes Polypropylen, das - wie oben angegeben in
einem Fadeometer geprüft wurde, versagte im allgemeinen nach 40 bis 60 Stunden.
Beispiel 11
Polypropylen wurde mit 0,5 Gewichts-% Diäthyl-2,2-bis-(3',5·-
di-tert.-butyl-4«-hydroxyphenyl)-l-propanphosphonat stabilisiert,
und Testplättchen wurden wie oben beschrieben hergestellt. Die Ofenalterungslebensdauer des stabilisierten Polypropylens betrug
360 Stunden.
ähnliche Stabiilisationsergebnisse wurden erhalten, wenn man
die Verbindung in Mengen von 0,1, 0,25 und 1,0 Gewichts-% zu Polyäthylen, Polypropylen, Polybutadien, Polystyrol, Butadien-Styrol-Mischpolymeriat,
Polyvinylchlorid und einem Polyamid zufügte.
Wurde dieses Beispiel unter Verwendung von 0,1 Gewichts-% des
Stabilisators und 0,5 Gewichts-% Dilaurylthiodipropiönat wiederholt,
wurden die folgende Ergebnisse erhalten:
Ofenalterungstest 537 Stunden
Fadeometer-Test 420 Stunden.
Unter Anwendung des oben beschriebenen Verfahrens wurde Polypropylen
mit 0,5 Gewichts-% Diäthyl-2,2-bis-(3·,5'-di-tert.-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)-l-propanphosphonat
stabilisiert. Man fand, daß das so stabilisierte Polypropylen in dem Fadeometer
360 Stunden stabil war.
Wurde dieses Beispiel unter Verwendung von 0,1 % des Stabilisators
und 0,5 % Dilaurylthiodipropiönat wiederholt, so erhielt

Ofenalterungstest 537 Stunden Fadeometer-Test 420 Stunden.
Weitere Beispiele sind in Tabelle I angegeben. Die Proben wurden, wie oben beschrieben, hergestellt, wobei man das
oben erwähnte Polypropylensubstrat verwendete. Die Ofenalterungs- und Fadeometer-Versuche wurden ebenfalls wie oben
beschrieben ausgeführt.

Beispiel 20 ,
Ein stabilisiertes Hochtemperatur-Schmieröl wurde hergestellt, "
indem man 2 Gewichts-% Ditriacontyl-5,5~bis-(3»,5«-di-tert,-butyl-41-hydroxyphenyl)-n-nexanphosphonat
in das Schmiermittel einarbeitete, das Diisoamyladipat enthielt.
Ein Gemisch au* 1 kg Polyoxymethylendiacetat (Molekulargewicht
etwa 30 000J, 5 g Dimethyl-α,a-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-n-octadecylphosphonat
und 2 g Dicyandiamid wurde bei 22Ö°C extrudiert, wobei
ein stabilisiertes Produkt erhalten wurde,
Eine Mischung aus 1 Nylon-6,6-salz (Hexamethylendiaminadipat), ™
0,01 Hexamethylendiamin und 1 Gewichts-% Dimethyl-α,α1-bis-(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)-n-octadecylphosphonat
wurde in ein Polymerisationsrohr gegeben und 1 Stunde auf 22O0C unter Atmosphärendruck
erhitzt. Die Temperatur wurde dann bei 285°C erhöht
und der Druck langsam auf 1 mm Hg erniedrigt. Das Rohr
wurde unter diesen Bedingungen 30 Minuten gehalten, abgekühlt und mit Stickstoff gespült.
Das so stabilisierte Polyhexamethylendiaminadipat zeigt weniger Farbentwicklung und Gewichts-Verlust als eine nicht stabilisierte
Probe.
