Abstract
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa 1 bis 45 Mol-% oder ein Ethylen-Isopren-Cololymer mit einem Q-Wert von etwa 3,5 oder weniger, wobei der Q-Wert ein Verhältnis des Zahlenmittels des Molekulargewichts (Mn) zum Gewichtsmittel des Molekulargewichts (Mw) ist.
Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer,
eine Elastomer-Zusammensetzung und eine vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammensetzung. Ins
besondere betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer
mit schneller Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und hoher Vernetzungsdichte, eine Elastomer-
Zusammensetzung und eine vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammensetzung, erhalten unter Ver
wendung des statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers. Der Begriff "statistisches Co
polymer", wie hier verwendet, bezieht sich auf ein Copolymer, in dem die Anordnung
von Monomereinheiten statistisch ist (siehe "Essential Highpolymer Science", Seite 21,
veröffentlicht von Kodansha, verfaßt von Seiichi Nakahama et al.).
Bis jetzt offenbarte JP-B-48-56775 ein Verfahren zur Herstellung eines amorphen
Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers unter Verwendung einer Vanadiumchloridverbindung und
ein Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von 50-80 mol-%, erhalten
mit dem Verfahren. Zusätzlich offenbarten Dong-Ho Lee et al. ein Verfahren zur Her
stellung eines Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers unter Verwendung eines Ethylenbisindenyl
zirkoniumdichlorid (Et(Ind)2ZrCl2)-modifizierten Methylaluminoxan-Katalysatorsystems
und ein Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von 0.9 mol-%, erhalten
mit dem Verfahren (Eur. Polym. Jour., Band 33, Nr. 4, S. 447, 1997). Jedoch ist kein
Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit schneller Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und hoher Vernet
zungsdichte bekannt.
Die Erfinder haben zum Erhalt eines statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers
mit den Eigenschaften der schnellen Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und hohen Vernetzungs
dichte umfassende Untersuchungen angestellt. Als Ergebnis haben die Erfinder festge
stellt, daß ein statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa
1 bis 45 mol-% schnelle Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und hohe Vernetzungsdichte aufweist
und gelangten so zur vorliegenden Erfindung. Die schnelle Härtungsgeschwindigkeit
ermöglicht eine Verringerung der Kosten für Vulkanisationsschritte oder in der Nachhär
tung, sowie eine Verringerung der Menge an erforderlichem Vulkanisationsmittel. Zu
sätzlich bringt die hohe Vernetzungsdichte insofern Vorteile mit sich, als das bereitge
stellte Copolymer die Herstellung eines Schwammkautschuks ermöglicht, der in starkem
Maße geschäumt ist und hohe Steifheit aufweist, der ausgezeichnet in der Niedertempe
raturhärtungseigenschaft und Ölbeständigkeit ist und auch hohes Füllen ermöglicht, wo
bei ebenfalls eine Verringerung der Kosten möglich ist.
Demgemäß betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-
Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa 1 bis 45 mol-% oder ein Ethylen-Isopren-
Copolymer mit einem Q-Wert von etwa 3.5 oder weniger, wobei der Q-Wert ein Ver
hältnis des Zahlen mittels des Molekulargewichts (Mn) zu dem Gewichtsmittel des Mole
kulargewichts (Mw) ist.
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft auch eine Elastomer-Zusammensetzung, die
etwa 100 Gew.-Teile des statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers, etwa 5 bis 400
Gew.-Teile eines anorganischen Füllstoffs und/oder Ruß und etwa 0.1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile
eines Vernetzungsmittels umfaßt.
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft auch eine vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammenset
zung, erhalten durch Vernetzen der Elastomer-Zusammensetzung.
Fig. 1 zeigt die Ergebnisse der Messung mit einem oszillierenden Scheibenrheo
meter der Copolymere von Beispiel 12 und Beispiel 9.
Fig. 2 zeigt das Ergebnis einer GPC-IR-Messung des Copolymers von Beispiel 6.
Fig. 3 zeigt das Ergebnis einer 1H-NMR-Messung des Copolymers von
Beispiel 6.
Die folgende detaillierte Beschreibung wird als Hilfe für die praktische Durch
führung der vorliegenden Erfindung wie beansprucht bereitgestellt. Diese Offenbarung
ist jedoch nicht als die vorliegende Erfindung einschränkend aufzufassen. Wie durch den
Fachmann beim Lesen erkennbar, können verschiedene Änderungen in den Substanzen
und Verfahren wie dargestellt ohne Abweichen vom Sinn oder Bereich der erfindungs
gemäßen Entdeckung vorgenommen werden.
Ein erfindungsgemäßes statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer ist ein statisti
sches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa 1 bis 45 mol-%,
vorzugsweise etwa 1.2 bis 40 mol-%, stärker bevorzugt etwa 1.5 bis 35 mol-%. Wenn
der Gehalt an Isopren zu gering ist, wird die Vulkanisation unzureichend und im Gegen
satz werden, wenn der Gehalt an Isopren zu hoch ist, die Aktivität des Katalysators und
das Molekulargewicht geringer, und die Vernetzungsdichte vermindert sich ebenfalls.
Zusätzlich ist das erfindungsgemäße Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer ein Ethylen-Iso
pren-Copolymer mit einem Q-Wert, der ein Verhältnis des Zahlenmittels des Molekular
gewichts (Mn) zum Gewichtsmittel des Molekulargewichts (Mw) ist, von etwa 3.5 oder
weniger, vorzugsweise etwa 1.8 bis 3.5, stärker bevorzugt etwa 1.8 bis 2.5. Wenn der
Q-Wert zu groß ist, entstehen Probleme, einschließlich Verringerung in der Festigkeit,
Erhöhung der ausblutenden Bestandteile und Folienklebrigkeit durch eine Erhöhung in
den extrahierenden Bestandteilen. Außerdem entstehen bei Verwendung als Kautschuk
mit geringer Dichte Probleme in der praktischen Verwendung, einschließlich der Ver
schlechterung seiner physikalischen Eigenschaften zum Vernetzen, zum Beispiel Druck
verformungsrest und Zugfestigkeit.
Die Molekulargewichtsverteilung wurde mit einem Gelpermeationschromatogra
phie (GPC)-Verfahren (unter Verwendung einer GPC-Apparatur 150C, hergestellt von
Waters Co.), wie nachstehend beschrieben, gemessen.
Das erfindungsgemäße Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer ist dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß es ein fast gleichmäßiges Verhältnis von Ethylen- und Isopren-Gehalten für Mole
kulargewichtsverteilungen im Bereich des niedrigen Molekulargewichtsbereichs bis zu
höherem Molekulargewichtsbereich und auch enge Zusammensetzungsverteilung auf
weist.
Das erfindungsgemäße Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer weist eine Grenzviskosität [η]
von vorzugsweise 0.3 oder mehr, stärker bevorzugt 0.5 oder mehr, gemessen in Xylol
als Lösungsmittel bei einer Temperatur von 70°C, auf. Wenn die Grenzviskosität zu
gering ist, kann das erhaltene Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer schlechte physikalische Eigen
schaften und Verarbeitbarkeit aufweisen. Das Verfahren zum Messen der Grenzviskosi
tät [η] wird nachstehend beschrieben.
Das erfindungsgemäße Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer wird vorzugsweise unter
Verwendung eines Katalysators hergestellt, der (A) und (B), (A) und (C) oder (A), (B)
und (C) umfaßt. Wenn das Verfahren verwendet wird, wird eine Verunreinigung durch
Katalysatorrückstand im Polymer vermindert, und der Gehalt an Chlor ist, verglichen
mit dem üblichen Fall, bei dem ein Ziegler-Natta-Katalysator verwendet wird, besonders
gering. Die Erfindung ermöglicht, daß eine Farbänderung in den Polymeren verhindert
wird, und bewirkt eine Ausdehnung der Anwendung, wie z. B. Nahrungsmittelanwen
dung.

substituierte Aminogruppe darstellen; und R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 und R6 gegebenenfalls zur
Bildung eines Rings kombiniert werden können.
X3 stellt ein Atom der Gruppe XVI des Periodensystems dar; zwei der Reste M1,
A, J, Cp1, X1, X2, X3, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 und R6 können gleich oder verschieden sein:

Nachstehend wird die vorliegende Erfindung im einzelnen beschrieben.
(A) Der Übergangsmetallkomplex wird erklärt.
In der allgemeinen Formel [I], [II] und [III] ist das durch M1 wiedergegebene
Übergangsmetallatom ein Übergangsmetallelement der Gruppe IV des Periodensystems
(überarbeitete Version 1989 von IUPAC, Inorganic Chemistry Nomenclature) und Bei
spiele davon schließen ein Titanatom, ein Zirkoniumatom oder ein Hafniumatom, vor
zugsweise ein Titanatom oder ein Zirkoniumatom, ein.
Beispiele des Atoms der Gruppe XVI des Periodensystems, das durch "A" in der
allgemeinen Formel [I], [II] oder [III] wiedergegeben wird, schließen ein Sauerstoff
atom, ein Schwefelatom und ein Selenatom, vorzugsweise ein Sauerstoffatom, ein.
Beispiele des Atoms der Gruppe XIV des Periodensystems, das durch "J" in der
allgemeinen Formel [I] [II] oder [III] wiedergegeben wird, schließen ein Kohlenstoff
atom, ein Siliciumatom und ein Germaniumatom, vorzugsweise ein Kohlenstoffatom
oder ein Siliciumatom, ein.
Beispiele des Rests mit einem Aniongerüst des Cyclopentadientyps, der durch
den Substituenten Cp1 wiedergegeben wird, schließen eine η5-(substituierte)-Cyclopenta
dienylgruppe, η5-(substituierte)-Indenylgruppe und η5-(substituierte)-Fluorenylgruppe
ein. Beispiele davon sind eine η5-Cyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-Methylcyclopentadienyl
gruppe, η5-Dimethylcyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-Trimethylcyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-
Tetramethylcyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-Ethylcyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-n-Propylcyclo
pentadienylgruppe, η5-Isopropylcyclopentadienylgruppe, η5-n-Butylcyclopentadienyl

Beispiele des Halogenatoms in den Substituenten X1, X2, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 und
R6 schließen ein Fluoratom, Chloratom, Bromatom und Jodatom, vorzugsweise ein
Chloratom oder ein Bromatom, stärker bevorzugt ein Chloratom, ein.
Als Alkylrest in den Substituenten X1, X2, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 und R6 ist ein Al

Der Übergangsmetallkomplex der allgemeinen Formel [I] kann gemäß dem in
WO 97/03992 beschriebenen Verfahren synthetisiert werden, das hier vollständig durch
Bezugnahme eingeschlossen ist.
Die Übergangsmetallverbindung der allgemeinen Formel [II] oder [III] kann
durch Umsetzung einer Übergangsmetallverbindung in mit 1 oder 2 Äquivalentmengen
Wasser oder Sauerstoff hergestellt werden.
Beispiele des vorstehenden Reaktionsverfahrens schließen ein: ein Verfahren der
Umsetzung einer Übergangsmetallverbindung und der erforderlichen Mengen an Wasser
oder Sauerstoff direkt; ein Verfahren des Einbringens einer Übergangsmetallverbindung
in ein Lösungsmittel, wie ein Kohlenwasserstofflösungsmittel, das die erforderliche
Menge an Wasser oder Sauerstoff enthält; und ein Verfahren des Einbringens einer
Übergangsmetallverbindung in ein trockenes Lösungsmittel, wie ein trockenes Kohlen
wasserstofflösungsmittel, und Durchleiten eines Inertgases, das die erforderliche Menge
an Wasser oder Sauerstoff enthält.
Als nächstes wird die Aluminiumverbindung (B) erklärt.
Als Aluminiumverbindungen (B) werden eine oder mehrere Aluminiumverbin
dungen aus den folgenden (B1)-(B3) ausgewählt.
(B1) Einer Organoaluminiumverbindung der allgemeinen Formel E1 aAlZ3-a,

Als Kohlenwasserstoffrest in E1, E2 und E3 ist ein Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1-8
Kohlenstoffatomen bevorzugt und ein Alkylrest mit 1-8 Kohlenstoffatomen stärker be
vorzugt.
Bestimmte Beispiele der Organoaluminiumverbindung (B1) der allgemeinen For
mel E1 aAlZ3-a schließen Trialkylaluminiumverbindungen, wie Trimethylaluminium, Tri
ethylaluminium, Tripropylaluminium, Triisobutylaluminium und Trihexylaluminium;
Dialkylaluminiumchloride, wie Dimethylaluminiumchlorid, Diethylaluminiumchlorid,
Dipropylaluminiumchlorid, Diisobutylaluminiumchlorid und Dihexylaluminiumchlorid;
Alkylaluminiumdichloride, wie Methylaluminiumdichlorid, Ethylaluminiumdichlorid,
Propylaluminiumdichlorid, Isobutylaluminiumdichlorid und Hexylaluminiumdichlorid;
und Dialkylaluminiumhydride, wie Dimethylaluminiumhydrid, Diethylaluminiumhydrid,
Dipropylaluminiumhydrid, Diisobutylaluminiumhydrid und Dihexylaluminiumhydrid,
ein.
Unter ihnen sind Trialkylaluminiumverbindungen bevorzugt und Triethylalumini
um und Triisobutylaluminium stärker bevorzugt.
Bestimmte Beispiele von E2 und E3 in dem cyclischen Aluminoxan (B2) mit einer
Struktur der allgemeinen Formel {Al(E2)-O-}b und linearem Aluminoxan (B3) mit einer
Struktur der allgemeinen Formel E3{-Al(E3)-O-}cAlE1 2 schließen Alkylreste, wie eine
Methyl-, Ethyl-, n-Propyl-, Isopropyl-, n-Butyl-, Isobutyl-, n-Pentyl- und Neopentyl
gruppe, ein. "b" ist eine ganze Zahl von nicht weniger als 2 und "c" ist eine ganze Zahl
von nicht weniger als 1. E2 und E3 sind vorzugsweise Methylgruppen oder Isobutylgrup
pen, "b" ist vorzugsweise 2 bis 40 und "c" ist vorzugsweise 1 bis 40.
Das vorstehende Aluminoxan wird mit verschiedenen Verfahren hergestellt. Das
Verfahren ist nicht besonders beschränkt, und das Aluminoxan kann gemäß bekannten
Verfahren hergestellt werden. Zum Beispiel kann es durch Inkontaktbringen einer Lö
sung, die durch Lösen einer Trialkylaluminiumverbindung (z. B. Trimethylaluminium) in
einem geeigneten Lösungsmittel (z. B. Benzol und ein aliphatischer Kohlenwasserstoff)
hergestellt wurde, mit Wasser hergestellt werden. Es kann auch ein Verfahren des In
kontaktbringens einer Trialkylaluminiumverbindung (z. B. Trimethylaluminium) mit ei
nem Kristallwasser enthaltenden Metallsalz (z. B. Kupfersulfat-Hydrat) verwendet wer
den.
Die Borverbindung (C) wird wie folgt erklärt:
Als Borverbindung (C) kann eine von Borverbindung (C1) der allgemeinen For mel BQ1Q2Q3, Borverbindung (C2) der allgemeinen Formel G⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ und Bor verbindung (C3) der allgemeinen Formel (L-H)⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ verwendet werden.
Als Borverbindung (C) kann eine von Borverbindung (C1) der allgemeinen For mel BQ1Q2Q3, Borverbindung (C2) der allgemeinen Formel G⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ und Bor verbindung (C3) der allgemeinen Formel (L-H)⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ verwendet werden.
In der Borverbindung (C1) der allgemeinen Formel BQ1Q2Q3 stellt B ein drei
wertiges Boratom dar und können Q1 bis Q3 gleich oder verschieden sein und stellen ein
Halogenatom, einen Kohlenwasserstoffrest, einen halogenierten Kohlenwasserstoffrest,
eine substituierte Silylgruppe, einen Alkoxyrest oder eine disubstituierte Aminogruppe
dar. Q1 bis Q3 stellen vorzugsweise ein Halogenatom, einen Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1-20
Kohlenstoffatomen, einen halogenierten Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1-20 Kohlen
stoffatomen, eine substituierte Silylgruppe mit 1-20 Kohlenstoffatomen, einen Alkoxy
rest mit 1-20 Kohlenstoffatomen oder eine disubstituierte Aminogruppe mit 2-20
Kohlenstoffatomen dar. Q1 bis Q3 stellen stärker bevorzugt ein Halogenatom, einen Koh
lenwasserstoffrest mit 1-20 Kohlenstoffatomen oder einen halogenierten Kohlenwasser
stoffrest mit 1-20 Kohlenstoffatomen dar. Q1 bis Q3 stellen weiter stärker bevorzugt
einen fluorierten Kohlenwasserstoffrest mit 1-20 Kohlenstoffatomen und mindestens ei
nem Fluoratom dar. Q1 bis Q3 stellen insbesondere bevorzugt einen fluorierten Arylrest
mit 6-20 Kohlenstoffatomen und mindestens einem Fluoratom dar.

In der Borverbindung (C2) der allgemeinen Formel G⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ stellt G⁺ ein
anorganisches oder organisches Kation dar; stellt B ein dreiwertiges Boratom dar; und
weisen Q1 bis Q4 die gleiche Bedeutung wie Q1 bis Q3 im vorstehenden (C1) auf.
In der Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel G⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ schließen bestimmte
Beispiele von G⁺ als anorganisches Kation ein Ferroceniumkation, alkylsubstituiertes
Ferroceniumkation und Silberkation ein und bestimmte Beispiele von G⁺ als organisches
Kation schließen ein Triphenylmethylkation ein. G⁺ ist vorzugsweise ein Carbenium
kation, stärker bevorzugt ein Triphenylmethylkation. Beispiele von (BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ schlie
ßen Tetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, Tetrakis(2,3,5,6-tetrafluorphenyl)borat, Tetrakis
(2,3,4,5-tetrafluorphenyl)borat, Tetrakis(3,4,5-trifluorphenyl)borat, Tetrakis(2,3,4-tri
fluorphenyl)borat, Phenyltris(pentafluorphenyl)borat und Tetrakis(3,5-bistrifluorphenyl

Beispiele bestimmter Kombinationen von Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel
C2 schließen Ferroceniumtetrallis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, 1,1'-Dimethylferroceniumte
trakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, Silbertetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, Triphenylmethylte
trakls(pentafluorphenyl)borat und Triphenylmethyltetrakis(3,5-bistrifluorphenyl)borat
ein. Unter ihnen ist Triphenylmethyltetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat am stärksten bevor
zugt.
In der Verbindung (C3) der allgemeinen Formel (L-H)⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ stellt L
eine neutrale Lewis-Säure dar; stellt (L-H)⁺ eine Brönsted-Säure dar; stellt B ein drei
wertiges Boratom dar; und weisen Q1 bis Q4 die gleiche Bedeutung wie Q1 bis Q3 im
vorstehenden (C1) auf.
In der Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (L-H)⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ schließen be
stimmte Beispiele von (L-H)⁺ als Brönsted-Säure trialkylsubstituiertes Ammonium,
N,N-Dialkylanilinium, Dialkylammonium und Triarylphosphonium ein, und bestimmte
Beispiele von (BQ1Q2Q4)⁻ schließen die gleichen wie die vorstehend beschriebenen
ein.
Beispiele der bestimmten Kombination von (L-H)⁺(BQ1Q2Q3Q4)⁻ schließen Tri
ethylammoniumtetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, Tripropylammoniumtetrakis(pentafluor
phenyl)borat, Tri(n-butyl)ammoniumtetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, Tri(n-butyl)ammo
niumtetrakis(3,5-bistrifluormethylphenyl)borat, N,N-Dimethylaniliniumtetrakis(penta
fluorphenyl)borat, N,N-Diethylaniliniumtetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat, N,N-2,4,6-

Bei der Copolymerisation wird ein Katalysator zur Olefinpolymerisation verwen
det, der den Übergangsmetallkomplex (A) der allgemeinen Formel [I] und die vorste
hend erwähnte(n) Verbindung(en) (B) und/oder (C) umfaßt. Bei Verwendung eines
Katalysators zur Olefinpolymerisation, der die zwei Bestandteile (A) und (B) umfaßt,
sind bevorzugte Verbindungen (B) das vorstehend erwähnte cyclische Aluminoxan (B2)
und/oder das lineare Aluminoxan (B3). Als andere bevorzugte Art eines Katalysators zur
Olefinpolymerisation, kann ein Katalysator zur Olefinpolymerisation aufgeführt werden,
der (A), (B) und (C) umfaßt, wobei (B1) bevorzugt ist.
Jeder Katalysatorbestandteil wird so verwendet, daß das Molverhältnis von (B) zu
(A) vorzugsweise etwa 0.1 bis 10 000, stärker bevorzugt etwa 5 bis 2000, und das Mol
verhältnis von (C) zu (A) vorzugsweise etwa 0.1 bis 100, stärker bevorzugt etwa 0.5 bis
10, beträgt.
Bezüglich der Konzentration jedes Katalysatorbestandteils, der im Zustand einer
Lösung oder im Zustand einer Suspension im Lösungsmittel verwendet wird, wird die
optimale Wahl abhängig von z. B. der Kapazität der Apparatur für die Zufuhr jedes Be
standteils in den Polymerisationsreaktor getroffen. Jeder Bestandteil wird in einer sol
chen Menge verwendet, daß die Menge an (A) vorzugsweise etwa 0.01 bis 500 µmol/g,
stärker bevorzugt etwa 0.05 bis 100 µmol/g, weiter bevorzugt etwa 0.05 bis 50 µmol/g,
beträgt, die Menge an (B) vorzugsweise etwa 0.01 bis 10 000 µmol/g, stärker bevorzugt
etwa 0.1 bis 5000 µmol/g, am stärksten bevorzugt etwa 0.1 bis 2000 µmol/g, in bezug
auf Al-Atome, beträgt und die Menge an (C) vorzugsweise etwa 0.01 bis 500 µmol/g,
stärker bevorzugt etwa 0.05 bis 200 µmol/g, am stärksten bevorzugt etwa 0.05 bis 100
µmol/g, beträgt.
Das erfindungsgemäße Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer kann mit einer Lösungspoly
merisation unter Verwendung eines aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffs, wie Butan, Pen
tan, Hexan, Heptan oder Octan, eines aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffs, wie Benzol
oder Toluol, oder eines halogenierten Kohlenwasserstoffs, wie Dichlormethan; oder ei
ner Aufschlämmungspolymerisation; oder einer Gasphasenpolymeriation in einem Mo
nomer in gasförmiger Phase hergestellt werden. Es kann auch sowohl mit einer kontinu
ierlichen Polymerisation als auch einer Chargenpolymerisation hergestellt werden. Die
Polymerisationstemperatur liegt üblicherweise im Bereich von etwa -70 bis 350°C, vor
zugsweise etwa -50 bis 220°C und stärker bevorzugt etwa -20 bis 120°C. Der Polymeri
sationsdruck liegt üblicherweise im Bereich von etwa Atmosphärendruck bis 350 MPa,
vorzugsweise etwa Atmosphärendruck bis 100 MPa und stärker bevorzugt etwa Atmo
sphärendruck bis 10 MPa. Die Polymerisationsdauer wird geeigneterweise allgemein
abhängig von der zu verwendenden Art des Katalysators und der Apparatur festgelegt
und kann üblicherweise im Bereich von etwa 1 Minute bis 20 Stunden liegen. Um das
Molekulargewicht des Polymers einzustellen, kann ein Kettenübertragungsmittel, wie
z. B. Wasserstoff, zugegeben werden.
Die erfindungsgemäße Elastomer-Zusammensetzung ist eine Elastomer-Zusam
mensetzung, die etwa 100 Gew.-Teile eines erfindungsgemäßen statistischen Ethylen-
Isopren-Copolymers, etwa 5 bis 400 Gew.-Teile anorganischen Füllstoff und/oder Ruß
und etwa 0.1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile eines Vernetzungsmittels umfaßt.
Der Gesamtgehalt des anorganischen Füllstoffs und/oder Rußes beträgt etwa 5 bis
400 Gew.-Teile, vorzugsweise etwa 10 bis 200 Gew.-Teile. Wenn der Gehalt zu gering
ist, kann manchmal eine ausreichende Verstärkungswirkung nicht erhalten werden. An
dererseits kann, wenn der Gehalt zu hoch ist, die Viskosität der Zusammensetzung stei
gen und die Verarbeitbarkeit schlecht werden.
Bestimmte Beispiele von anorganischen Füllstoffen: Glasflocken, Ton, Silicium
dioxid, Glasfadenschleier, Glasperlen, Glimmer, Talkum, Calciumcarbonat, Titandi
oxid, Kaliumtitanatwhisker, Bariumsulfat.
Das in der statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymermasse verwendete Vernet
zungsmittel kann beliebig aus einem oder mehreren Mitteln aus verschiedenen Vernet
zungsmitteln, abhängig von der gewünschten Verwendung, gewählt werden. Diese Ver
netzungsmittel schließen Schwefelvernetzungsmittel, anorganische Vernetzungsmittel,
Polyaminvernetzungsmittel, Harzvernetzungsmittel, Schwefelverbindungs-Vernetzungs
mittel, Oxim- und Nitrosovernetzungsmittel, organische Peroxid-Vernetzungsmittel und
andere Vernetzungsmittel ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Schwefelvernetzungsmittel kön
nen pulverisierten Schwefel, ausgefällten Schwefel, kolloidalen Schwefel, oberflächen
behandelten Schwefel, unlöslichen Schwefel und nicht-abfärbenden Schwefeldonor ein
schließen. Bestimmte Beispiele der anorganischen Vernetzungsmittel können Selen, Tel
lur, Magnesiumoxid, Bleiglätte (Bleimonoxid) und Zinkoxid einschließen. Bestimmte
Beispiele der Polyaminvernetzungsmittel können Hexamethylendiamin, Triethylentetra
min, Tetraethylenpentamin, Hexamethylendiamincarbamat, N,N'-Dicinnamyliden-1,6-
hexandiamin, 4,4'-Methylenbis(cyclohexylamin)carbamat und 4,4'-Methylenbis(2-
chloranilin) einschließen. Bestimmte Beispiele der Harzvernetzungsmittel können Alkyl
phenol-Formaldehyd-Harz, Melamin-Formaldehyd-Kondensat, Triazin-Formaldehyd-
Kondensat, sulfurisiertes p-tert-Butylphenolharz, Alkylphenolsulfidharz und Hexameth
oxymethylmelaminharz einschließen. Bestimmte Beispiele der Schwefelverbindung-Ver
netzungsmittel können Schwefelmonochlorid, Schwefeldichlorid, Morpholindisulfid, Al
kylphenoldisulfid, -polysulfid und Schwefel enthaltende Beschleuniger einschließen. Be
stimmte Beispiele der Oxim- und Nitrosovernetzungsmittel können p-Chinondioxim,
p,p'-Dibenzoylchinondioxim, Tetrachlor-p-benzochinon und Poly-p-dinitrosobenzol ein
schließen. Bestimmte Beispiele der organischen Peroxidvernetzungsmittel können tert-
Butylhydroperoxid, 1,1,3,3-Tetramethylbutylhydroperoxid, p-Menthanhydroperoxid,
Cumolhydroperoxid, Diisopropylbenzolhydroperoxid, 2,5-Dimethylhexan-2,5-dihydro
peroxid, Di-tert-butylperoxid, Dicumylperoxid, tert-Butylcumylperoxid, 1,1-Bis(tert-bu
tylperoxy)cyclododeccn, 2,2-Bis(tert-butylperoxy)octan, 1,1-Di-tert-butylperoxycyclo
hexan, 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylperoxy)hexan, 2,5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(tert-butylper
oxy)hexin-3, 1,3-Bis(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzol, 2 5-Dimethyl-2,5-di(benzoylper
oxy)hexan, 1,1-Bis(tert-butylperoxy)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexan, n-Butyl-4,4-bis(tert-bu
tylperoxy)valerat, Benzoylperoxid, m-Toluylperoxid, p-Chlorbenzoylperoxid, 2,4-Di
chlorbenzoylperoxid, tert-Butylperoxyisobutyrat, tert-Butylperoxy-2-ethylhexanoat, tert-
Butylperoxybenzoat, tert-Butylperoxyisopropylcarbonat, tert-Butylperoxyallylcarbonat
und acrylische Vernetzungsmittel ein schließen. Die anderen Vernetzungsmittel können
Ethylenglycoldimethacrylat, Trimethylolpropantrimethacrylat, polyfunktionelles Meth
acrylatmonomer, mehrwertiges Alkoholmethacrylat, N,N'-m-Phenylenbismaleinimid,
Ammoniumbenzoat, monomerhaltige Silicatfüll stoffe, Triallylisocyanurat, enthaltendes
Metallmonomer, Zinkmethacrylat Magnesiummethacrylat, Zinkdimethacrylat, Magnesi
umdimethacrylat, 2,4,6-Trimercapto-S-triazin, N,N'-Bis(2-methyl-2-nitropropyl)-1,6-
hexandiamin, Isocyanursäure, Thiadiazolderivate, kationische aktive Mittel, spezielles
Gemisch von Vulkanisationsmitteln und hochreine industrielle Seifen einschließen. Diese
Vernetzungsmittel werden beliebig gemäß der gewünschten Verwendung gewählt. Die
Menge des zu verwendenden Vernetzungsmittels wird wiederum beliebig gemäß der er
forderlichen Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und erforderlichen Eigenschaft des vernetzten
Produkts gewählt. Der Gehalt des Vernetzungsmittels pro 100 Gew.-Teile des statisti
schen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers betragt üblicherweise etwa 0.1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile
und vorzugsweise etwa 0.2 bis 10 Gew.-Teile. Wenn der Gehalt zu genug ist, kann fast
keine Vernetzung vonstatten gehen, und andererseits kann, wenn der Gehalt übermäßig
ist, die physikalische Eigenschaft des vernetzten Produkts verschlechtert sein.
Falls erforderlich ist es möglich, verschiedene bekannte Zusätze (siehe: Com
pounding Ingredients for Rubber and Plastics, überarbeitete zweite Ausgabe, Rubber-Di
gest Co.) zur erfindungsgemäßen Elastomer-Zusammensetzung zu mischen oder zuzu
geben. Beispiele der Zusätze schließen Vulkanisationsbeschleuniger, Aktivatoren, Ver
zögerungsmittel, Antioxidationsmittel, Anti-Ozongeneratoren, UV-Absorptionsmittel,
Lichtstabilisatoren, Peptisierungsmittel, Klebrigmacher, Kautschukweichmacher, Ver
stärkungsmittel, Füllstoffe, Verstärker, Blasmittel, Blasbeschleuniger, Schmiermittel,
Gleitmittel, interne Ablösemittel, Mittel gegen Wolkenbildung, Flammverzögerungs
mittel, interne Antistatikmittel, Farbmittel, Kupplungsmittel, Konservierungsmittel und
Fungizide ein. Folgendes ist eine Auflistung bestimmter Beispiele oder ein Teil der
Klassifizierung der in der bekannten Literatur beschriebenen Zusätze (Compounding In
gredients for Rubber and Plastics, überarbeitete Ausgabe, Rubber-Digest Co.). Zuerst
schließen bestimmte Beispiele der Vulkanisationsbeschleuniger klassifizierte Verbindun
gen, wie Guanidine, Aldehydammoniake, Aldehydamine, Thiazole, Sulfaminamide,
Thioharnstoffe, Thiurame, Dithiocarbamate, Xanthate und andere Verbindungen ein.
Bestimmte Beispiele der Aktivatoren schließen Metalloxide, Metallcarbonate, Fettsäuren
und Derivate davon und Amine ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Verzögerungsmittel schlie
ßen organische Säuren und Nitrosoverbindungen ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Antioxi
dationsmittel oder Anti-Ozongeneratoren schließen Naphthylamine, Diphenylamine, p-
Phenylendiamine und Chinoline; Hydrochinonderivate; Monophenole, Bis- oder Tris
phenole, Thiobisphenole, gehinderte Phenole und Phosphite; Wachse und Kupferinhibi
toren ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der UV-Absorptionsmittel oder Lichtstabilisatoren schlie

Kautschukverstärkungsmittel schließen Ruß, anorganische Verstärkungsmittel und orga
nische Verstärkungsmittel ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Füllstoffe oder Verstärker
schließen anorganische Füllstoffe, organische Füllstoffe und Kunststoffverstärker ein.
Bestimmte Beispiele der Blasmittel oder Blasbeschleuniger schließen anorganische
Blasmittel, Nitrosoverbindungen. Azoverbindungen und Sulfonylhydrazide ein. Be
stimmte Beispiele der Schmiermittel, Gleitmittel, internen Ablösemittel, Mittel gegen
Wolkenbildung oder Flammverzögerungsmittel schließen Paraffin und Kohlenwasser
stoffharze, Fettsäuren, Fettsäureamide, Fettsäureester, Fettalkohole und Teilester von
Fettsäuren und mehrwertigen Alkoholen ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der internen Antista
tikmittel schließen kationische aktive Mittel, quaternäre Ammoniumsalze und Stear
amidpropyldimethyl-β-hydroxyethylammonium ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Farbmittel
schließen anorganische Pigmente, organische Pigmente, organische fluoreszierende Pig
mente und Perlessenz ein. Bestimmte Beispiele der Kupplungsmittel schließen Silane,
Aluminate oder Titanate ein. Die Menge dieser zu kombinierenden Zusätze ist nicht be
sonders beschränkt, weil die Menge gemäß der gewünschten Verwendung oder des ge
wünschten Zwecks angepaßt wird. Diese Zusätze werden üblicherweise unter Verwen
dung eines Brabenders, Banbury-Mischers, Knetwerks oder einer Walzenmühle vor der
Vernetzungsreaktion zum Erhalt der erfindungsgemäßen Elastomerkautschukzusammen
setzung gemischt. Die Elastomer-Zusammensetzung kann mit einem Extruder,
Knetwerk, einer Mischmühle oder Preßvorrichtung zu einer gewünschten Form geformt
werden.
Die primäre Vulkanisation wird üblicherweise durch Erhitzen für 1 bis 60 Minu
ten auf 120°C oder mehr, vorzugsweise 130 bis 200°C, unter Atmosphärendruck bis 15
MPa durchgeführt. Die Nachvulkanisation wird unter Erhitzen für 1 bis 20 Stunden auf
130 bis 200°C, wie erforderlich, durchgeführt.
Das statistische Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer, die Elastomer-Zusammensetzung
und die vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammensetzung der vorliegenden Erfindung können z. B.
mit einem Harz oder einem anderen Kautschuk vermischt werden. Zum Beispiel kann
das Vermischen mit einem Polyethylenharz, wie einem Polyethylen hoher Dichte, einem
Polyethylen mittlerer Dichte, einem Polyethylen geringer Dichte oder LLDPE (lineares
Polyethylen geringer Dichte); einem Polypropylenharz; Poly-4-methylpenten-1; Polysty
rol; einem Polyester; einem Polyamid; einem Polyphenylenether; einem Polyolefinharz;
einem Ethylen-α-Olefin-Copolymerkautschuk; einem Copolymerkautschuk aus Ethylen,
Propylen und nicht konjugiertem Dien; einem Copolymerkautschuk aus Ethylen, α-Ole
fin und nicht konjugiertem Dien; einem Polybutadien; einem Styrol-Butadien-
Blockcopolymerkautschuk; einem Styrol-Butadien-Styrol-Blockcopolymerkautschuk;
einem statistischen Styrol-Butadien-Copolymerkautschuk; einem teilweise hydrierten
Styrol-Butadien-Styrol-Blockcopolymerkautschuk; einem teilweise hydrierten
statistischen Styrol-Butadien-Copolymerkautschuk; einem Styrol-Isopren-
Blockcopolymerkautschuk; einem teilweise hydrierten Styrol-Isopren-

zungsreaktion unter Zugabe eines Vernetzungsmittels, wie einem Peroxid oder
Schwefel, durchzuführen. Außerdem ist es, falls erforderlich, möglich, ein Antioxidati
onsmittel, einen thermischen Stabilisator, ein UV-Absorptionsmittel, ein Schmiermittel,
ein Antistatikmittel, ein Pigment, einen Füllstoff oder ein Flammverzögerungsmittel ein
zumischen. Verfahren zum Erhalt eines gemischten Produkts der erfindungsgemäßen
Elastomer-Zusammensetzung mit einem Harz oder anderen Kautschuk schließen Verfah
ren ein, in denen die Bestandteile z. B. mit einem Doppelschneckenextruder oder einem
Banbury-Mischer schmelzgeknetet werden. Das statistische Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer,
die Elastomer-Zusammensetzung und die vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammensetzung der
vorliegenden Erfindung weisen die vorstehend beschriebenen Eigenschaften auf und
können am bestem geeignet als Modifikator für verschiedene Harze, Anwendungen bei
Kraftfahrzeugteilen, Anwendungen bei elektrischen Teilen, Anwendungen bei Indu
strieteilen und Anwendungen bei Materialien für Gebäudeteile verwendet werden.
Die Grenzviskosität [η] wurde bei 70°C in Xylol unter Verwendung eines Übbe
lohde-Viskosimeters gemessen. Eine Probe mit 300 mg wurde in 100 ml Xylol gelöst,
wobei eine Lösung mit einer Konzentration von 3 mg/ml gebildet wurde. Die Lösung
wurde 1/2, 1/3 und 1/5 verdünnt und jede der Verdünnungen in einem Wasserbad mit
konstanter Temperatur bei 70°C (± 1°C) gemessen. Die Messung wurde bei den jeweili
gen Konzentrationen 3-mal wiederholt und ein durchschnittlicher Wert der erhaltenen
Ergebnisse verwendet.
Die Molekulargewichtsverteilung wurde mit einem Gelpermeationschromatogra
phie (GPC)-Verfahren (unter Verwendung einer GPC-Apparatur 150C, hergestellt von
Waters Co.) gemessen. Die Messung wurde bei einer Elutionstemperatur von 140°C
unter Verwendung einer Shodex gefüllten Säule A-80M, hergestellt von Showa Denko
K.K. als Säule und eines Polystyrols (Molekulargewicht: 68 bis 8 400 000, hergestellt
von Tosoh Co.) als Standardsubstanz für das Molekulargewicht durchgeführt. Ein Ge
wichtsmittel des Molekulargewichts (Mw) und ein Zahlenmittel des Molekulargewichts
(Mn), die auf Polystyrol umgerechnet sind, wurden erhalten und das Verhältnis davon
(Mw/Mn) als Molekulargewichtsverteilung verwendet. Eine Probe mit etwa 5 mg Poly
mer zur Messung wurde in 5 ml o-Dichlorbenzol gelöst, wobei eine Lösung mit einer
Konzentration von etwa 1 mg/ml gebildet wurde. Eine 400 µl-Portion der erhaltenen
Probenlösung wurde eingespritzt. Die Fließgeschwindigkeit des Elutionslösungsmittels
betrug 1.0 ml/Minute, und der Nachweis wurde mit einem Brechungsindex-Nachweisge
rät durchgeführt.
Die Messung wurde mit einem Gelpermeationschromatographieverfahren (Appa
ratur: CFCT-150A, hergestellt von Dia Instrument Co., Ltd.)/Fourier-Transformations-
Infrarotspektrophotometrie (Apparatur: Magna 550 FTIR, hergestellt von Nicolet Japan
Corporation) durchgeführt. Die Elutionstemperatur betrug 140°C und zwei UT-806M-
Säulen, hergestellt von Showa Denko K.K., wurden verwendet. Eine Probe mit 100 mg
des Polymers wurde in 25 ml o-Dichlorbenzol gelöst und ein 0.8 ml-Teil der erhaltenen
Probenlösung eingespritzt. Die erhaltene Lösung wurde in die FT-IR-Apparatur einge
bracht und Absorptionspeaks durch C-H-Dehnungsschwingungen bei 2842 bis 2982 cm-1
analysiert.
Die Dichte wurde gemäß JIS K-6760 (als Wert bei 23°C) gemessen.
Eine Jodzahl wurde mit einem Titrationsverfahren gemessen und der Isoprenge
halt (in mol-%) aus diesem Wert berechnet.
Die Struktur von Isopren wurde basierend auf einer integrierten Intensität der zu
geordneten Signale in einem kernmagnetischen Resonanzspektrum abgeschätzt.

In einen mit einem Rührer ausgestatteten 500 ml-Vierhalskolben wurden 20.1 g
(123 mmol) 2-tert-Butyl-4-methylphenol in 150 ml Toluol unter einer Stickstoffatmo
sphäre gelöst, dann 25.9 ml (18.0 g, 246 mmol) tert-Butylamin zugegeben. Diese Lö
sung wurde auf -70°C abgekühlt und 10.5 ml (32.6 g, 204 mmol) Brom zugegeben.
Diese Lösung wurde auf -70°C gehalten und 2 Stunden gerührt. Dann wurde die Lösung
auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt und dreimal jeweils unter Zugabe von 100 ml 10%iger
verdünnter Salzsäure gewaschen. Die nach Waschen erhaltene organische Schicht wurde
über wasserfreiem Natriumsulfat getrocknet, das Lösungsmittel unter Verwendung eines
Verdampfers entfernt, dann das Produkt unter Verwendung einer Kieselgelsäule gerei
nigt, wobei 18.4 g (75.7 mmol) 1-Brom-3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-2-phenol als farbloses Öl
erhalten wurden. Die Ausbeute betrug 62%.
In einen mit einem Rührer ausgestatteten 100 ml-Vierhalskolben wurden 13.9 g
(57.2 mmol) in vorstehend beschriebenem Verfahren (a) synthetisiertes 1-Brom-3-tert-
butyl-5-methyl-2-phenol unter einer Stickstoffatmosphäre in 40 ml Acetonitril gelöst,
dann dazu 3.8 g (67.9 mmol) Kaliumhydroxid gegeben. Weiter wurden 17.8 ml (40.6 g,
286 mmol) Methyljodid zugegeben und das Gemisch 12 Stunden gerührt. Dann wurde
das Lösungsmittel unter Verwendung eines Verdampfers entfernt und 40 ml Hexan zum
Rückstand gegeben und der in Hexan lösliche Teil extrahiert. Die Extraktion wurde
dreimal wiederholt. Das Lösungsmittel wurde vom Extrakt entfernt, wobei 13.8 g (53.7
mmol) 1-Brom-3-tert-butyl-2-methoxy-5-methylbenzol als schwachgelbes Öl erhalten
wurden. Die Ausbeute betrug 94%.
Zu einer aus Tetrahydrofuran (31.5 ml), Hexan (139 ml) und in vorstehend be
schriebenen Verfahren (b) synthetisiertem 1-Brom-3-tert-butyl-2-methoxy-5-methylben
zol (45 g) bestehenden Lösung wurde eine Lösung von n-Butyllithium in Hexan (115
ml) (1.6 mol/l) bei 40°C innerhalb 20 Minuten getropft. Das erhaltene Gemisch wurde
1 Stunde bei -40°C gehalten, dann Tetrahydrofuran (31.5 ml) zugetropft.
Zu einer aus Dichlordimethylsilan (131 g) und Hexan (306 ml) bestehenden
Lösung wurde das vorstehend erhaltene Gemisch bei -40°C getropft. Das erhaltene
Gemisch wurde innerhalb 2 Stunden auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt und weitere 12 Stun
den bei Raumtemperatur gerührt.
Das Lösungsmittel und der Überschuß Dichlordimethylsilan wurden unter ver
mindertem Druck vom Reaktionsgemisch abdestilliert und der in Hexan lösliche Teil
vom Rückstand unter Verwendung von Hexan extrahiert und das Lösungsmittel von der
erhaltenen Hexanlösung abdestilliert, wobei 41.9 g (3-tert-Butyl-2-methoxy-5-methyl
phenyl)chlordimethylsilan als schwachgelbes Öl erhalten wurden. Die Ausbeute betrug
84%.
Zu einer aus im vorstehend beschriebenen Verfahren (c) synthetisiertem (3-tert-
Butyl-2-methoxy-5-methylphenyl)chlordimethylsilan (5.24 g) und Tetrahydrofuran (50
ml) bestehenden Lösung wurde bei -35°C Tetramethylcyclopentadienyllithium (2.73 g)
gegeben und das Gemisch innerhalb 2 Stunden auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt und
weitere 10 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt.
Das Lösungsmittel wurde vom erhaltenen Reaktionsgemisch unter vermindertem
Druck abdestilliert, der in Hexan lösliche Teil unter Verwendung von Hexan extrahiert
und das Lösungsmittel von der erhaltenen Hexanlösung unter vermindertem Druck ab
destilliert, wobei 6.69 g (3-tert-Butyl-2-methoxy-5-methylphenyl)dimethyl(tetramethyl
cyclopentadienyl)silan als gelbes Öl erhalten wurden. Die Ausbeute betrug 97%.
Zu einer aus im vorstehend beschriebenen Verfahren (d) synthetisiertem (3-tert-
Butyl-2-methoxy-5-methylphenyl)dimethyl(tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)silan (10.04 g),
Toluol (100 ml) und Triethylamin (6.30 g) bestehenden Lösung wurde eine Lösung von
n-Butyllithium in Hexan (19.0 ml) (1.63 mol/l) getropft, dann das Gemisch innerhalb 2
Stunden auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt und weitere 12 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur ge
rührt.
Zu einer Lösung von Titantetrachlorid (4.82 g) in Toluol (50 ml) wurde bei 0°C
unter einer Stickstoffatmosphäre das vorstehend erhaltene Gemisch getropft, dann das
Gemisch innerhalb 1 Stunde auf Raumtemperatur erwärmt und 10 Stunden unter Rück
fluß erhitzt.
Das Reaktionsgemisch wurde filtriert, das Lösungsmittel vom Filtrat abdestilliert
und der Rückstand aus einem gemischten Lösungsmittel aus Toluol-Hexan umkristalli
siert, wobei 3.46 g Dimethylsilyl(tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-2-
phenoxy)titandichlorid als orange säulenförmige Kristalle erhalten wurden. Die Aus
beute betrug 27%.

Stickstoffgas wurde in einen absperrbaren 2 l-Kolben der mit einem Rührer, ei
nem Thermometer, einem Tropftrichter und einem Rückflußkühler ausgestattet war, un
ter Vermindern des Drucks, um die Innenatmosphäre durch Stickstoffgas zu ersetzen,
eingebracht. In diesen Kolben wurde 1 l getrocknetes Hexan als Lösungsmittel für die
Polymerisation eingebracht. Ethylen (8 l/Minute) wurde kontinuierlich in den Kolben
eingebracht und die Temperatur des Lösungsmittels unter Verwendung eines Wasserbads
mit konstanter Temperatur auf 0°C eingestellt. Isopren (25 mmol) wurde zugegeben,
und die Zugabe einer Hexanlösung von Triisobutylaluminium (0.5 mmol/Al) zum Lö
sungsmittel für die Polymerisation folgte. Dann wurde eine Lösung von Dimethylsilyl-
(tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-2-phenoxy)titandichlorid in Hexan
(0.002 mmol/Ti) zum Lösungsmittel für die Polymerisation gegeben, gefolgt von der
Zugabe einer Lösung von Trispentafluorphenylborat in Toluol (0.01 mmol/B). Nach 30
Minuten Rühren wurde Methanol zum Abbrechen der Reaktion zugegeben und das Lö
sungsmittel entfernt, wobei 7.4 g statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer erhalten wur
den. Die Isoprenstruktur des erhaltenen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers wurde mit 1H-NMR
analysiert. Der Gehalt an 1,4-Bindung betrug 99 mol-% oder mehr.
Das Verfahren in Beispiel 1 wurde im wesentlichen wiederholt. Detaillierte Be
dingungen für die Polymerisation und Ergebnisse der Beurteilung des Copolymers sind
in Tabelle 1 gezeigt.
In einen ausreichend mit Stickstoffgas gespülten Autoklaven wurden 800 ml
Hexan eingebracht, das auf 0°C abgekühlt wurde. Dazu wurden 50 ml Isopren und 2 g
Ethylen gegeben, gefolgt von der Zugabe einer Hexanlösung von TIBA (1.5 mmol/Al)
zum Lösungsmittel für die Polymerisation. Dann wurde eine Lösung von Dimethyl
silyl(tetramethylcyclopentadienyl)(3-tert-butyl-5-methyl-2-phenoxy)titandichlorid in He
xan (0.005 mmol/Ti) zum Lösungsmittel für die Polymerisation gegeben, gefolgt von
der Zugabe einer Lösung von Trispentafluorphenylborat in Toluol (0.025 mmol/B). Der
Druck von Ethylen wurde während der Polymerisation auf 0.1 MPa (Meßdruck) gehal
ten. Nach 7 Minuten Rühren wurde Methanol zum Abbrechen der Reaktion zugegeben
und das Lösungsmittel entfernt, wobei 4.8 g eines statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copoly
mers erhalten wurden. Die Isoprenstruktur des erhaltenen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers
wurde mit 1H-NMR analysiert. Der Gehalt an 1,4-Bindung betrug 99 mol-% oder mehr.
Das Verfahren in Beispiel 5 wurde im wesentlichen wiederholt. Detaillierte Be
dingungen für die Polymerisation und die Ergebnisse der Beurteilung des Copolymers
sind in Tabelle 1 aufgeführt.
Das Verfahren für die Polymerisation in Beispiel 5 wurde wiederholt, außer daß
Ethylen nicht als Monomer verwendet wurde und eine Polymerisation allein unter Ver
wendung von Isopren durchgeführt wurde. Als Ergebnis wurde keine Bildung von Po
lymer beobachtet.
Dann wurden die in Beispiel 9 und Beispiel 12 erhaltenen statistischen Ethylen-
Isopren-Copolymere zu einer nachstehend gezeigten Formulierung mit einer 20 cm (8
inch) offenen Walze geknetet, wobei Elastomer-Zusammensetzungen erhalten wurden.
Die Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und Vernetzungsdichte der Elastomer-Zusammen
setzungen wurden bei 145°C unter Verwendung eines oszillierenden Scheibenrheome
ters, hergestellt von Toyo Seiki Seisaku-Sho, Ltd., gemessen.

Die Ergebnisse zeigten folgende Tatsachen. Verglichen mit einem im Handel
erhältlichen EPDM-ENB oder einem synthetischen Isoprenkautschuk wies das statisti
sche Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer der vorliegenden Erfindung eine Härtungsgeschwin
digkeit, die vergleichbar ist mit der des synthetischen Isoprenkautschuks, und hohe Ver
netzungsdichte auf, verglichen mit EPDM-ENB und synthetischem Isoprenkautschuk.
Wie vorstehend beschrieben stellt die vorliegende Erfindung ein statistisches
Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit schneller Härtungsgeschwindigkeit und hoher Vernet
zungsdichte, sowie eine Elastomer-Zusammensetzung und eine vernetzte Elastomer-Zu
sammensetzung unter Verwendung des statistischen Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymers bereit.

Die vorliegende Erfindung ist-nur durch den Bereich der beigefügten Patentan

Claims (14)
1. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa 1 bis
45 mol-%.
2. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Q-Wert von etwa 3.5 oder
weniger, wobei der Q-Wert das Verhältnis des Zahlen mittels des Molekularge
wichts (Mn) zum Gewichtsmittel des Molekulargewichts (Mw) ist.
3. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer mit einem Isoprengehalt von etwa 1 bis
45 mol-% und einem Q-Wert von etwa 3.5 oder weniger, wobei der Q-Wert das
Verhältnis des Zahlenmittels des Molekulargewichts (Mn) zum Gewichtsmittel
des Molekulargewichts (Mw) ist.
4. Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, wobei das Copolymer
eine Grenzviskosität [η] von 0.3 oder mehr in Xylol als Lösungsmittel bei einer
Temperatur von 70°C aufweist.
5. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 1, 2, 3 oder 4, wobei
das Copolymer durch Polymerisation von Ethylen und Isopren in Gegenwart
eines (A) und (B), (A) und (C) oder (A), (B) und (C) umfassenden Katalysators,
wie nachstehend dargestellt, erhalten wird:
(A): mindestens ein Übergangsmetallkomplex der folgenden allgemeinen For meln [I] bis [III]:
wobei in jeder der vorstehend beschriebenen allgemeinen Formeln (I) bis (III) M1 ein Übergangsmetallatom der Gruppe IV des Periodensystems darstellt; A ein Atom der Gruppe XVI des Periodensystems darstellt; J ein Atom der Gruppe XIV des Periodensystems darstellt; Cp1 einen Rest mit einem Aniongerüst des Cyclopentadientyps darstellt; X1, X2, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 und R6 jeweils unab hängig ein Wasserstoffatom, ein Halogenatom, einen Alkylrest, einen Aralkyl rest, einen Arylrest, eine substituierte Silylgruppe, einen Alkoxyrest, einen Aral kyloxyrest, einen Aryloxyrest oder eine disubstituierte Aminogruppe darstellen;

(B): eine oder mehrere Aluminiumverbindungen, ausgewählt aus den folgen den Verbindungen (B1)-(B3):
(B1) eine organische Aluminiumverbindung der allgemeinen Formel E1 aAIZ3-a,
(B2) ein cyclisches Aluminoxan mit einer Struktur der allgemeinen Formel {-Al(E2)-O-}b und
(B3) ein lineares Aluminoxan mit einer Struktur der allgemeinen Formel E3t-Al(E3)-O-}cAlE3 2

6. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei A in der all
gemeinen Formel (I), (II) oder (III) ein Sauerstoffatom ist.
7. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei X3 in der all
gemeinen Formel (I), (II) oder (III) ein Sauerstoffatom ist.
8. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei R1 in der all
gemeinen Formel (I), (II) oder (III) ein Alkylrest, ein Aralkylrest, ein Arylrest
oder eine substituierte Silylgruppe ist.
9. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei X1 und X2 in
der allgemeinen Formel (I), (II) oder (III) unabhängig ein Halogenatom, ein Al
kylrest, ein Aralkylrest, ein Alkoxyrest, ein Aryloxyrest oder eine disubstituierte
Aminogruppe sind.
10. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei die Verbindung
(B) Triethylaluminium, Triisobutylaluminium oder Methylaluminoxan ist.
11. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei die Verbindung
(C) Dimethylaniliniumtetrakis(pentafluorphenyl)borat oder Triphenylmethyl
tetraltis(pentafluorphenyl)borat ist.
12. Statistisches Ethylen-Isopren-Copolymer nach Anspruch 5, wobei der Katalysator
(A), (B) und (C) umfaßt.
13. Elastomer-Zusammensetzung, die etwa 100 Gew.-Teile eines statistischen Ethy
len-Isopren-Copolymers nach Anspruch 1, 2, 3, 4 oder 5, etwa 5 bis 400 Gew.-Teile
eines anorganischen Füllstoffs und/oder Ruß und etwa 0. 1 bis 20 Gew.-Teile
eines Vernetzungsmittels umfaßt.
14. Vernetzte Elastomer-Zusammensetzung, erhalten durch Vernetzung einer Ela
stomer-Zusammensetzung nach Anspruch 13.
