In Tetrahedron, 21, 1 bis 4 (1965), wird beschrieben, daß man Trifluormethansulfonsäure-2,2,2-trifluoräthylester
aus dem Alkohol und dem Säureanhydrid und weiterhin auch aus dem Alkohol und dem Säurefluorid in Gegenwart von Pyridin herstellen
kann. Pyridin quaternisiert jedoch mit diesem Ester, so daß die erzielten Ausbeuten verhältnismäßig
gering sind.
Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein verbessertes Verfahren zur Herstellung von fluorierten
Sulfonsäureestern der allgemeinen Formel
(R1-SO2OCH2J111Q
in der R1 einen hochfluorierten Q- bis Q-Alkylrest
bedeutet, der mindestens zwei Fluoratome und nicht mehr als ein Wasserstoffatom enthält, Q einen
fluorierten Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Oxalkyl- oder Oxacycloalkylrest mit der Valenz m darstellt, der mindestens
44 Gewichtsprozent Fluor enthält, und m 1 oder 2 ist, durch Umsetzung eines Alkansulfonylhalogenids
der allgemeinen Formel RjSO2X, in der X Cl oder F bedeutet, mit einem entsprechenden
Carbinol der allgemeinen Formel Q(CH2OH)m in
Gegenwart eines tertiären Amins als Säureakzeptor, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man Triethylamin
als Säureakzeptor verwendet.
In Gegenwart eines großen Überschusses an tertiärem Amin gegenüber den stöchiometrischen Mengen
können quaternäre Ammoniumverbindungen gebildet werden, wobei die Quaternisierungstemperatur
um so mehr oberhalb Raumtemperatur liegt, je höher das Molekulargewicht des Esters ist. Bei der
Herstellung der Ester der Trifluormethansulfonsäure werden daher niedrigere Temperaturen angewendet.
Bei dem fluorierten Rest Q, der mindestens 44 Gewichtsprozent Fluor enthält, handelt es sich vorzugsweise
um.einen der folgenden Reste:
a) einen Perfluoralkylrest mit 1 bis 17 Kohlenstoffatomen,
b) einen Perfluorcycloalkylrest mit 4 bis 11 Kohlenstoffatomen,
c) einen ai-Hydrogenperfluoralkylrest mit einer
geraden Zahl von Kohlenstoffatomen von 2 bis 18,
d) einen 2-Hydrogenperfluoralkylrest mit 3 bis
11 Kohlenstoffatomen,
e) einen. Chlordifluormethylrest,
f) einen 3-Oxaperfluoralkylrest mit 3 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen,
g) einen Perfluoroxacycloalkylrest mit 4 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen,

h) einen Perfluoralkylenrest mit 1 bis 10 Kohlenstoffatomen oder
i) einen Perfluorcycloalkylenrest mit 6 bis 12 Kohlenstoffatomen.
Carbinole, die diese hochfluorierten Alkylgruppen enthalten, sind bekannt.
Die Perfluoralkansulfonylfluoride sind leicht durch elektrochemische Fluorierung der entsprechenden
Alkansulfonylfluoride oder -chloride erhältlich, wie in der deutschen Patentschrift 1 029 822 sowie in
der entsprechenden USA.-Patentschrift 2 732 398 beschrieben wird. Wegen der geringeren Kosten pro
Mol wird im allgemeinen die Verwendung von Perfluormethansulfonylfluorid bevorzugt, doch lassen
sich auch höhere Sulfonylfiuoride zufriedenstellend einsetzen. Chloride von 2-Hydroperfluorcarbonsäuren
werden von Coffman und Raasch, Journ.
Org. Chem., 14, S. 747 ff. (1949), beschrieben.
Die Verfahrensprodukte haben oberflächenaktive Eigenschaften.
In den folgenden Beispielen bedeuten Teile, wenn nicht anders angegeben, Gewichtsteile.
In einem mit einer Rührvorrichtung versehenen Gefäß werden insgesamt 84,5 Teile (0,555 Mol) Trifluormethansulfonylfluorid
(Siedepunkt —26° C) bei

etwa —75° C kondensiert. In das Gefäß werden dann 100 Volumteile Methylenchlorid gegeben, wonach
das Gaseinleitungsrohr durch einen Tropftrichter ersetzt wird. Ein Gemisch aus 55,5 Teilen
(0,555 Mol) 2,2,2-Trifluoräthanol und 56 Teilen (0,555 Mol) Triethylamin wird dann innerhalb von
etwa 20 Minuten hinzugegeben, während die Temperatur des Reaktionsgemisches bei etwa —40 bis
— 300C gehalten wird. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird
auf 00C erwärmt und die klare Lösung nacheinander
mit 100 Volumteilen 5%iger wäßriger Salzsäure, 100 Volumteilen 5%iger wäßriger Natronlauge und
zweimal mit 50 Volumteilen Wasser gewaschen. Die Lösung wird über wasserfreiem Magnesiumsulfat
getrocknet, filtriert, eingeengt und schließlich der fraktionierten Destillation unterworfen, wobei
95,5 Teile Trifluormethansulfonsäure-2,2,2-trifluoräthylester,
Kp.74O etwa 89 bis 9 Γ C, ng = 1,3037
erhalten werden.

Nach einem ähnlichen Verfahren wie oben erhält man unter Verwendung von 234 Teilen Trifluormethansulfonylfluorid
in 121 Volumteilen Methylenchlorid und unter Zugabe von 271 Teilen 1,1-Dihydroperfluorbutanol
und 150 Teilen Triäthylamin innerhalb von etwa 1 Stunde, wonach weiter wie oben gearbeitet wird, Trifluormethansulfonsäure-1,1-dihydroperfluorbutylester
in guter Ausbeute als klare, farblose Flüssigkeit, Kp.732 118 bis 1200C,
ttff = 1,3020.

Es werden 13,5 Teile Perfluoräthansulfonylfluorid
in 30 Volumteilen Methylenchlorid bei — 8O0C verwendet,
wozu ein Gemisch aus je 8 Teilen 2,2,2-Trifluoräthanol und Triäthylamin in 20 Volumteilen
Methylenchlorid innerhalb von etwa 10 Minuten gegeben wird. Anschließend wird weiter wie im Beispiel
1 gearbeitet. Perfluoräthansulfonsäure-2,2,2-trifluoräthylester wird in guter Ausbeute als farblose
Flüssigkeit erhalten, Kp.74O 105 bis 1060C,

Nach einem ähnlichen Verfahren wird Perfluorbutansulfonsäure
-1,1 - dihydroperfluoroctylester in guter Ausbeute aus dem entsprechenden Alkohol
und dem entsprechenden Sulfonylfluorid erhalten.
65 Beispiel 3
Zu einem Gemisch aus 25,1 Teilen Perfluoroctansulfonylfluorid
in 25 Volumteilen Triäthylamin, das sich in einem geeigneten, gegen Feuchtigkeitszutritt
geschützten Gefäß befindet, werden 10 Teile 1,1-Dihydroperfluorbutanol
gegeben. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird unter Rückfluß 4 Stunden gerührt und dann in ein Gemisch aus etwa 25 Teilen konzentrierter
Salzsäure und 100 Teilen Eis gegossen. Das Produkt wird mit Diäthyläther extrahiert und die ätherische
Lösung mit Wasser gewaschen und getrocknet. Beim Abdampfen des Äthers wird in guter Ausbeute roher
Perfluoroctansulfonsäure - 1,1 - dihydroperfluorbutylester erhalten, der der Destillation unterworfen wird:
Kp.74O 225 bis 227° C. Der Ester wird langsam fest
und kann aus Petroläther (Kp. 30 bis 60cC) umkristallisiert
werden, danach zeigt er einen Schmelzpunkt von etwa 59 bis 62 C.

In ein geeignetes Gefäß werden 332 Teile 1,1,7-Trihydroperfluorheptanol,
120 Teile Triäthylamin und 500 Volumteile Methylenchlorid gegeben. Das Ge-
misch wird bei etwa 10 bis 200C gehalten und Trifluormethansulfonylfluorid
in raschem Strom über 1 Stunde eingeleitet, bis durch fortdauerndes Sieden am Rückfluß bei zeitweiliger Unterbrechung der
Einleitung des Säurefluorids die Beendigung der Umsetzung erkennbar ist. Es ist keine weitere Umsetzungszeit
erforderlich. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird, wie im Beispiel 1 beschrieben, weiterbehandelt.
Trifiuormethansulfonsäure -1,1,7 - trihydroperfluorheptylester
wird in guter Ausbeute als bewegliche, farblose Flüssigkeit vom Kp^ 75 bis 78° C und
til5 — 1,3194 erhalten. Analysendaten:

Nach dem gleichen allgemeinen Verfahren wird unter Verwendung entsprechender Mengen 1,1,11-Trihydroperfiuorundecanol
Trifluormethansulfonsäure-
15 1,1,11-trihydroperfluorundecylester, Kp.10 125 bis
130° C, in guter Ausbeute erhalten. Der Ester kristallisiert
und schmilzt nach Umkristallisation aus Petroläther bei etwa 56 bis 590C.
Die obigen Beispiele beschreiben Verfahren, die ganz allgemein auch zur Herstellung anderer Ester
der obigen allgemeinen Formel unter Verwendung von Perfluoralkansulfonylfluoriden und -Chloriden
mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen, Perfluorcycloalkansulfonylfluoriden
und -Chloriden mit 4 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen (nach dem Verfahren der deutschen
Patentschrift 1 029 822 herstellbar) oder 2-Hydroperfiuoralkansulfonylchloriden,
die aus den Säuren bzw. Salzen nach dem obengenannten Verfahren von C ο f f m a η und R a a s c h erhalten werden
können, anwendbar sind. Bei der Umsetzung der entsprechenden Sulfonylhalogenide, vorzugsweise der
Sulfonylfluoride, mit den im folgenden angegebenen Carbinolen werden also die folgenden Ester erhalten:

Nach dem oben beschriebenen allgemeinen Verfahren werden 20 Teile Trifluormethansulfonylfluorid
in einem mittels festem CO2-Bad auf etwa —70° C
gekühlten Kolben kondensiert und 50 Volumteile Methylenchlorid zugegeben, wonach 34 Teile Perfluorcyclohexylcarbinol
(C6F12CH2OH) in 12 Teilen
Triäthylamin tropfenweise zugesetzt werden. Der anfänglich gebildete Niederschlag verschwindet,
wenn das Reaktionsgemisch auf 0°C erwärmt wird. Die Isolierung des Produktes erfolgt in der vorstehend
angegebenen Weise, und man erhält Trifiuormethansulfonsäure - perfluorcyclohexylmethylester
als farblose Flüssigkeit, Kp.2O 73 bis 760C,
ni5 = 1,3253.
Claims (1)
- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zur Herstellung von fluorierten SuI-fonsäureestern der allgemeinen Formel45in der Rf einen hochfluorierten C1- bis Cg-Alkylrest bedeutet, der mindestens zwei Fluoratome und nicht mehr als ein Wasserstoffatom enthält, Q einen fluorierten Alkyl-, Cycloalkyl-, Oxalkyl- oder Oxacycloalkylrest mit der Valenz m darstellt, der mindestens 44 Gewichtsprozent Fluor enthält, und m 1 oder 2 ist, durch Umsetzung eines Alkansulfonylhalogenids der allgemeinen Formel R7SO2X, in der X Cl oder F bedeutet, mit einem entsprechenden Carbinol der allgemeinen Formel .Q(CH2OH)n, in Gegenwart eines tertiären Amins als Säureakzeptor, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Triäthylamin als Säureakzeptor verwendet.809 590/470 8.68 O Bundesdruckerei Berlin
