Polycarbonate lassen sich durch Reaktion eines zweiwertigen Phenols, z. B. 2,2-Bis-(4-oxyphenyl)-propan
mit beispielsweise Phosgen in Anwesenheit eines Säure bindenden Mittels herstellen.
Die Eigenschaften der Polycarbonate lassen aber Wünsche offen. Es sind verschiedenartige Möglichkeiten
bekannt, die auf eine Verbesserung von nachteiligen Eigenschaften von Polycarbonaten, z. B. bei
Berührung mit organischen Lösungsmitteln, abzielen.
Gegenstand der Erfindung sind Formmassen, die Polycarbonate und Polyolefine enthalten, die erfindungsgemäß
dadurch gekennzeichnet sind, daß sie 0,25 bis 40 Gewichtsprozent Polyäthylen oder 2 bis
40 Gewichtsprozent Polypropylen enthalten. Die erfindungsgemäßen Massen geben Formteile mit einer
besseren Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen Risse und Beeinträchtigungen durch Umwelteinflüsse.
Es ist zwar bekannt, einem Polycarbonatharz ein Polyamid zuzusetzen. Jedoch zersetzt sich das Polycarbonatharz
bei Anwesenheit von Polyamid spontan.
Ein älterer Vorschlag betrifft Polycarbonat-Spritzgußmassen, die 90 bis 30 Gewichtsprozent eines
Polycarbonats aus di-(monohydroxyphenyl)-substituierten aliphatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen und 10
bis 70 Gewichtsprozent eines Pfropfpolymerisates, das aus Polybutadien und einer Mischung aus Acrylnitril
und einem aromatischen VinylkohlenwasserstofF hergestellt worden ist, enthalten.

Beanspruchte Priorität:

920 Teile pulverisiertes Poly-p,p'-(2,2-diphenylpropan)-carbonat mit einer Viskosität von 0,54 (in
Dioxan bei 303 0C) wurden in einen Behälter gegeben und über Nacht bei 125 0C getrocknet. 80 Teile
tablettenförmiges Polyäthylen mit einer Dichte von 0,95 und einem Schmelzindex von 9,0 wurden in
einen zweiten Behälter gegeben und bei 60 bis 70 °C ebenfalls über Nacht getrocknet. Am folgenden
Morgen ließ man die beiden Proben etwa 25 Minuten lang auf Zimmertemperatur abkühlen und gab die
Polyäthylenprobe zum Polycarbonat und dichtete den Behälter ab. Die Proben wurden dann durch Schwenken
und Rotieren in dem abgedichteten Behälter miteinander vermischt.
Das angegebene Verfahren wurde mit dem Unterschied wiederholt, daß 80 Teile tablettenförmiges
Polypropylen mit einer Dichte von 0,91 an Stelle des Polyäthylens verwendet wurden.
Nachfolgend wurde eine John-Royle-Strangpresse auf 249 0C eingestellt, so daß alle Gebiete der Gußform
und die Matrize auf diese Temperatur gebracht wurden. Die beiden Proben wurden in die Strangpresse
gegeben und das Stranggepreßte zerhackt, so daß die Mischungen in Form von Pellets geliefert
wurden. Probestäbe wurden dann aus jeder Mischung mit Hilfe einer Van-Dorn-Presse geformt. Die Stäbe
hatten eine Abmessung von 12,7 · 3,2 · 63 mm. Außerdem wurden Stäbe aus dem ursprünglichen, nicht
modifizierten Polycarbonatharz hergestellt.
Dann wurden diese Stäbe mit den nachstehend angeführten Ergebnissen auf ihre Riß- und Bruchfestigkeit
geprüft.

Beispiel 2
Mit Hilfe des Verfahrens von Beispiel 1 wurde eine Reihe von Polycarbonat-Polyäthylen-Mischungen hergestellt, in denen Polyäthylene mit verschiedenen Dichten und Schmelzindices verwendet wurden. In jedem Fall war das verwendete Polycarbonat Poly-(2,2-diphenylpropan)-carbonat. Prüfstäbe wurden hergestellt und auf ihre Riß- und Bruchfestigkeit geprüft. Die Ergebnisse wurden in der nachstehenden TabelleII zusammengestellt:
Mit Hilfe des Verfahrens von Beispiel 1 wurde eine Reihe von Polycarbonat-Polyäthylen-Mischungen hergestellt, in denen Polyäthylene mit verschiedenen Dichten und Schmelzindices verwendet wurden. In jedem Fall war das verwendete Polycarbonat Poly-(2,2-diphenylpropan)-carbonat. Prüfstäbe wurden hergestellt und auf ihre Riß- und Bruchfestigkeit geprüft. Die Ergebnisse wurden in der nachstehenden TabelleII zusammengestellt:

Die angegebenen Ergebnisse zeigen, daß Polyäthy- 30 hergestellt, in denen das Polypropylen einen unter-
Iene mit unterschiedlicher Dichte und Schmelzindex verwendet werden können, um rißfeste Carbonatharzmassen
nach der Erfindung zu liefern.
Mit Hilfe des Verfahrens von Beispiel 1 wurde eine Reihe von Polycarbonat-Polypropylen-Mischungen
schiedlichen Schmelzindex besaß. In jedem Fall besaß das verwendete Polypropylen eine Dichte von 0,91,
und das verwendete Polycarbonat war Poly-(2,2-diphenylpropan)-carbonat. Prüfstäbe aus den verschiedenen
Mischungen wurden auf ihre Riß- und Bruchfestigkeit geprüft. Die Ergebnisse der Prüfungen
werden in der nachstehenden Tabelle III zusammengestellt.

Versuchsergebnisse zum Nachweis
des technischen Fortschritts

Aus trockenem, pulverisiertem p,p'-(2,2-Diphenylpropan)-Polycarbonat-Harz und Polyolefinen wurden
folgende Formmassen hergestellt:

Die Formmassen wurden mit einem John-Ryle-Extruder verpreßt, wobei die Temperatur im Extruderzylinder
in Abhängigkeit vom PolyoIefinanteil so geändert wurde, daß ein passende Konsistenz aufweisender
Strang entstand, dessen Viskosität nicht zu
Claims (1)
- niedrig war. Die Formmassen 1, 2, A, B, wurden ohne Schwierigkeiten bei 238 bis 249° C verpreßt und zu kleinen Stücken geschnitzelt. Die Formmassen 3 und C wurden bei 233 0C verpreßt. Beim Verschnitzeln des Preßstranges ergab sich ein faseriges Gemisch von Fäden und geschnitzelten Teilchen. Die Formmasse 4 konnte bei 177° C nur mit Schwierigkeiten verpreßt werden, da der Strang brüchig war und der Transport der Formmasse durch die Austrittdüse des Extruders Schwierigkeiten bereitete. Beim Zerschnitzeln entstanden fadenartige Teilchen. Die Formmasse D wurde bei 149° C und die FormmasseE bei 121° C verpreßt. Die verpreßte Formmasse konnte nur mit Schwierigkeiten zerschnitzelt werden, und es ergaben sich faserige Teilchen. Die Formmasse 5 wurde bei 1210C verpreßt, wobei jedoch kein Strang gebildet wurde. Das verpreßte Material fiel in großen Klumpen an, die ungeschmolzene Polycarbonatharzteilchen enthielten.Aus den Formmassen 1, 2, A, B hergestellte Schnitzel wurden mit einer Van-Dorn-Spritzgußmaschine zu Prüfkörpern mit einer Abmessung von 62,5 · 12,5 · 3,1 mm geformt. Aus den geschnitzelten Formmassen 3, 4, 5, C, D und E wurden Folien mit einer Dicke von 3,1 mm hergestellt, da die geschnitzelten Teilchen in der Spritzgußmaschine nicht verarbeitet werden konnten. Aus den Formkörpern wurden Prüfstücke hergestellt, deren Verformungspunkt bei Einwirkung von Wärme und deren Schlagzähigkeit mit einem Izod-Prüfgerät nach ASTM 256 gemessen wurde. Dabei ergaben sich folgende Ergebnisse:
