Description
DEUTSCHES
Es ist aus Gazetta Chimica Italiana, Bd. 80 (1950), S. 113 bis 120, bekannt, daJß man lösliches Alumimiuniäthylat
erhält, wenn man zu einer vorgegebenen Menge Aluminium bei höherer Temperatur langsam Äthanol
zufließen läßt, so daß das Aluminium sich stets im Überschuß befindet. Fügt man das Äthanol in einem
Guß zu, so daß sich der Alkohol gegenüber dem Aluminium im Überschuß befindet, so erhält man die unlösliche
Form des Aluminiumtriäthylats. Es ist jedoch nicht möglich, durch Einwirkung von Glykol auf eine
überschüssige Menge Aluminium zu einem löslichen Aluminiumglykolat zu gelangen.
Weiterhin ist es bekannt, daß bei der Einwirkung von Glykol oder Trimethylenglykol auf Aluminiumalkoholate
in der Wärme unter Verdrängung des Alkohols Aluminiumalkoholate des Glykols bzw. des
Trimethylenglykols von ungeklärter Konstitution, entstehen (vgl. Tischtschenko, Journ. russ. physikal.
ehem. Ges., 31 [1899] S. 769, 770). Die hierbei erhältlichen
Verbindungen sind jedoch in organischen Lösungsmitteln unlöslich und daher für solche technischen
Zwecke, bei denen Löslichkeit in organischen Substanzen erforderlich ist, unbrauchbar (z. B. als
Zusatz zu Schmiermitteln).
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man in organischen
Lösungsmitteln lösliche Aluminiumverbindungen dadurch herstellen kann, daß man aliphatische Glykole
mit mindestens 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, die mindestens eine sekundäre Hydroxylgruppe enthalten oder deren
Kohlenstoffkette durch ein oder mehrere Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen ist, mit Aluminium oder mit
Aluminiunialkoholaten von niederen aliphatischen einwertigen Alkoholen, gegebenenfalls nur teilweise, umsetzt.
Man kann die Umsetzungsprodukte gegebenenfalls noch mit kotnplexbildenden flüchtigen organischen
Substanzen gegen Zersetzung durch Feuchtigkeit stabilisieren.
Das Verfahren gemäß der Erfindung liefert wahrscheinlich bei der Umsetzung der genannten Glykole
mit Aluminium Aluminiumglykolate der Konstitution I Verfahren zur Herstellung

von niederen: aliphatischen einwertigen, Alkoholen erfolgt je nach den angewandten
Molverhältnissen eine stufenweise Verdrängung des einwertigen Alkohols, wobei der untersten Stufe die

zukommen dürfte; in dieser Formel bedeutet A die Kohlenstoffkette des einwertigen Alkohols. Die Löslichkeit
dieser neuen Aluminiumverbindungen dürfte neben konstitutionellen auf sterische Verhältnisse in
den verwendeten Glykolen zurückzuführen sein; hierdurch scheint einerseits die Bildung von unlöslichen
vernetzten Aluminiumverbindungen verhindert, andererseits die Löslichkeit durch endständige Methylgruppen
besonders begünstigt zu werden.
Die Umsetzung der Glykole von der genannten Konstitution mit Aluminium oder mit den Aluminiumalkoholaten
von niederen einwertigen aliphatischen Alkoholen erfolgt nach den bekannten Verfahren der
Herstellung von Aluminiumalkoholaten durch Erhitzen
der Komponenten bei etwa 80 bis 200° in Anr oder Abwesenheit von indifferenten Lösungsmitteln,
wie Toluol, Xylol, Chlorbenzol. Im Falle der Umsetzung mit Aluminium ist es zweckmäßig, die für die
Herstellung von Aluminiumalkoholaten bekannten Aktivierungsmittel, wie Halogene, z. B. Jod, oder
Metallhalogenide, wie Quecksilberchlorid, Aluminiumchlorid, Halogenwasserstoffsäuren, wie Chlo>rwasserstoffsäure
u. dgl., in kleinen Mengen zuzusetzen. Man kann auc'h von amalgamiertem Aluminium ausgehen.
Im Falle der Verwendung von Aluminiumalkoholaten destilliert man während oder nach der Zugabe
der Glykole den verdrängten einwertigen Alkohol ab, gegebenenfalls zuletzt noch das angewandte Lösungsmittel.
Die so entstandenen Aluminiumglykolate, die also II gegebenenfalls noch Alkoxylgruppen enthalten können,
sind feste, farblose Stoffe, welche in aliphatischen

und aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen, wie Benzin, Benzol, Xylol, ferner in Chlorkohlenwasserstoffen,
wie Tetrachlorkohlenstoff, Chlorbenzol, in Äthern, wie Diäthyläther, oder in aliphatischen Alkoholen, wie
Äthanol, löslich sind.
Als aliphatische Glykole der beanspruchten Konstitution
eignen sich solche Glykole mit mindestens 4 C-Atomen, welche eine oder zwei sekundäre Hydroxylgruppen·
enthalten, beispielsweise 1, 3-Butylenglykol, 2-Äthyl-hexandiol (1,3), 2,4-Hexandiol,
2, 5-Hexandiol, 2-Methyl-pentandiol (2,4), 2, 9-Dimethyl-decandiol
(3,8), 1, 12-Octadecandio.l. Ferner kommen Glykole in Betracht, deren Kohlenstoffkette
durch Sauerstoffatome unterbrochen, ist, z. B. PoIyäthylenglykole
und ihre Alkyl derivate, wie Diglykol CH2(OH) · CH2O- CH2 · CH2(OH), l-Methyldiglykol,
1, 4-Dimethyl-diglykol, 1, 6-Dimethyl-triglykol,
1, 4, 6-Trimethyl-triglykol. Es können· auch Gemische
der Glykole verwendet werden.. Bai manchen Glykolen, z. B. 1, 3-Butylenglykol, ist nur ein anteiliger Einsatz
möglich, weil sie bei restloser Verdrängung der Alkoxylgruppen unlösliche Aluminiumverbindungen
liefern.
Als Ausgangsstoffe werden neben Aluminium Aluminiumalkoholate,
beispielsweise das Äthylat, das Isopropylat, das Butylat, das 2-Äthylbutanolat u. dgl.,
genannt.
Die nach der Erfindung hergestellten Aluminiumglykolate
finden Verwendung als Zwischenprodukte, als Hydrophobiermittel (im indifferenten organischen
Lösungsmittel) für Textilfasergut, gegebenenfalls unter Zusatz von hydrophoben organischen Stoffen,
sowia als Zusätze zu Anstrich- und. Schmiermitteln.
Sie können, ferner in an sich bekannter Weise (vgl. deutsche Patentschrift Nr. 855 548) vorteilhaft durch
Umsetzung der bekannten, mit Aluminiumalkoholaten komplexbildanden flüchtigen organischen Substanzen,
wie Acetylaceton, Acetessigester u. dgl., bei gewöhnlichen oder erhöhten Temperaturen gegen Zersetzung
durch Feuchtigkeit stabilisiert werden.
135 Geiwichtsteile Xylol werden mit 10 Geiwichtsteilen
Aluminiumpulver zum Sieden erhitzt und 0,2 Gewichtsteile Jod, 0,2 Gewichtsteile Quecksilberchlorid
und 1,5 Gewichtsteila Aluminiumchlorid zugesetzt. Dann werden im Laufe von 2 Stunden 65 Ge^-
wichtsteile 2, 5-Hexandiol unter Rühren zugetropft, wobei das Reaktionsgemisch ständig am Rückfluß
siedet und dar entstehende Wasserstoff durch den Rücknußkühler abgeführt wird. Man erhält eine
Lösung des· entstandenen Aluminium-2,5-hexanr diolats in Xylol, die von geringen Resten nicht umgesetztem
Aluminiums durch Filtrieren befreit wird. Nach dem Abdestillieren des Xylols erstarrt das Aluminium-2,
5-hexandiolat in der Kälte zu einem weißen, harten Harz vom, Schmelzpunkt 106°, welches in Benzol,
Xylol und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff löslich ist. Bei der Analyse wurden· 12,2% Aluminium gefunden,
während sich für A12(C6H12O2)3 13,4°/» Aluminium
errechnen.
Ersetzt man das 2, 5-Hexandiol durch 80 Gewichtsteile 2-Äthyl-hexandiol (1, 3) und arbeitet im übrigen
in gleicher Weise, so erhält man das Aluminium-2-äthylhexandioIat,
welches- ebenfalls· in Xylol leicht 6g löslich ist.
20 Gewichtsteile Aluminium-isopropylat werden in 100 Gawichtsteilen Xylol gelöst und in die unter
Rückfluß siedende Lösung 18 Gewiehtsteile 2, 5-Hexandiol unter Rühren 1 Stunde zugegeben. Der Rückflußkühler wird auf etwa 90° geheizt, so daß der verdrängte
Isopropylalkohol abdestillieren kann, wobei er in fast theoretischer Menge wiedergewonnen wird.
Man erhält eine klare Lösung das Aluminiuim-2,5-hexandiolates
in Xylol, welche nach dem Abdestillieren des Xylols die gleiche Verbindung wie im
Beispiel 1 liefert.
204 Gewiehtsteile Aluminium-isopropylat werden in 500 Gewichtsteilen Xylol gelöst und in die unter Rückfluß
siedende Lösung 53 Gewiehtsteile Diglykol unter Rühren 2 Stunden zugegeben. Der Rückflußkühler
wird auf 90° geheizt, so daß der verdrängte Isopropylalkohol in theoretischer Menge abdestillieren kann
zwecks Wiedergewinnung. Man erhält eine klare Lösung eines gemischten Aluminiumalkoholats der Formel
Al2(C3H7O)4(C4H8Og) in Xylol. Nach dem Abdestillieren des Lösungsmittels im Vakuum erhält
man ein dickflüssiges öl, welches zu einer farblosen, wachsartigen Masse erstarrt, die außer in Xylol auch
in Benzol und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff leicht löslich ist. Durch Zusatz von 0,3 Mol Acetessigestar kann die
xylolischa Lösung gegen Zersetzung durch Feuchtigkeit stabilisiert werden.
330 Gewiehtsteile Aluminium-2-äthylbutanolat werden
in 1000 Gewichtsteilen Xylol gelöst und mit 45 Gewichtsteilen 1, 3-Butylenglykol 2 Stunden unter
Rückfluß gekocht. Danach wird aus dar so erhaltenen klaren Lösung des gemischten Aluminiumalkoholats
der Formel Al2 (C4 H8 O2) 4 (C6H13O)4 das Lösungsmittel
im Vakuum abdestilliert. Hierbei erhält man ein dickflüssiges öl, welches zu einer wachsartigem
Masse erstarrt und außer in Xylol auch in Benzol und Tetrachlorkohlenstoff löslich ist.
204 Gewiehtsteile Aluminium-isopropylat werden in 500 Gawichtsteilen Xylol gelöst, 143 Gewiehtsteile
1, 12-Octadecandiol zugesetzt und das Gemisch
1 Stunde am Rückflußkühler erhitzt. Hierbei wird der Rückflußkühler auf 90° geheizt, so daß der verdrängte
Isopropylalkohol abdestillieren kann zwecks Wiedergewinnung. Man erhält eine klare Lösung eines gemischten
Aluminiumalkoholats der Formel
Al2(C3H7O)4(C18H36O2)
in Xylol. Nach dem Abdestillieren des Lösungsmittels im Vakuum erhält man diese Verbindung als weiße
feste Substanz, welche außer in Xylol auch in Testbenzin und Perchloräthylen löslich ist.
Verwendet man an Stelle des 1, 12-Octadecandiols
101 Gewiehtsteile 2, 9-Dimethyl-decandiol (3, 8) und
arbeitet im übrigen in gleicher Weise, so erhält man ein gemischtes Aluminiumalkoholat der Formel
Al2(C3H7O)4(C12H24O2)
als weiße feste Substanz, welche ebenfalls in Xylol, Testbenzin und Parchloräthylen löslich ist.
