技术领域
本发明有关无线移动单元通信用的以位置为基础的方法及系统;尤其是有关具有设定为较佳通信使用的地理区域的系统,有时称为热点(hot spots)。
背景技术
无线通信系统于本领域中是为人所熟知。通常,此种系统包括通信站,其互相传输并接收无线通信信号。通常,提供能够进行与复数用户站,通常称为无线传输/接收单元(WTRUs),其包括移动单元,的同时无线通信的基地台。通常,此处所使用的基地台包括但不限于,基地台,点B,位置控制器,存取点或其它提供无线存取至与之相关的网络的无线环境中的接口装置。此处所使用的WTRU一词包括但不限于使用者设备,移动站,固定或移动用户单元,呼叫器,或其它型态的能够在无线环境中操作的装置。

束型可选择地被使用于具有基于,例如位置及相对干扰的因子,而受控制的多重波束或一单一波束多重无线同时通信的服务。图2b及图2c说明基于不同移动单元的相对位置,聚集射频能量至移动单元UE2及UE3及来自该移动单元的基地台10的二不同方案。
为使用束形,首先必须确定移动单元的位置。位置确定可借由任何一种已知的方法达成。例如,此移动单元可以使用内建的全球定位系统(GPS)接收器并报告其位置至网络而确定其位置。网络也可以使用抵达角度(Angle of Arrival,AOA),抵达时差(Time Difference of Arrival,TDOA),或都卜勒技术(Dopplertechnology)确定移动单元的位置。也可使用以网络协助移动单元确定其本身位置的混合方法。通常,每一种方法产生具有评估误差的相关边际(margin)的相对移动单元位置的一评估。
服务提供者有许多方式可以提供并控制网络存取。例如,具有一或更多WLAN存取点的一通用的无线局域网络协议可建立在IEEE 802.11b标准。在此种网络中,被选择的WLAN服务可以在相当小,定义良好的地理区域,已知为「热点」,中被提供。这些区域允许使用者有能力与他们的移动单元在线(on-line)并存取无线网络。

发明内容
本发明提供一种具有为较佳通信使用而设计或确定的地理区域的无线网络中的无线移动单元用的方法及系统。在许多应用中,特定的区域被预先定义为「热点」。或者是,较佳的通信区域可相对于信号品质或其它与移动单元的进行中通信的通信参数而被确定。
此方法包括确定一移动单元的评估的地理位置。此移动单元被提供至少一个相对于该确定的移动单元评估位置的较佳通信区域的相对位置数据。此移动单元随后基于相对的位置区域重新被定位至此种较佳通信区域。

在移动单元被配置一全球定位系统时,移动单元不需要传输评估的数据至网络。网络基地台可以传出由基地台服务的所有预先设定的热点区域的移动单元地理位置数据给移动单元。此移动单元对热点的相对位置数据随后可由移动单元经由其GPS确定。
此网络可以允许和网络基地台的直接移动单元无线通信以及移动单元之间的对等(peer-to-peer)无线通信。由移动单元激活的由网络基地台接收的要求可经由位于由该基地台服务的一热点区域中的一不同的移动单元传递。

此移动单元可被设计为用以直接与网络基地台通信以及和其它移动单元的对等无线通信。在此种情况中,此移动单元较佳者也用以在与一网络基地台直接通信中接收经由一中继器来自另一移动单元的对应一传输的要求的响应。

具体实施方式

Claims (23)

1.一种具有较佳通信使用的地理区域的无线网络中的无线移动单元通信方法,包括以下步骤:
确定一移动单元的一评估的地理位置;以及
提供与该被确定的移动单元评估位置相关的至少一较佳通信区域的相关位置数据予该移动单元。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于还包括步骤:
借由该移动单元传输激活一预先设定的较佳通信区域位置用的一要求;以及
由一网络基地台接收该要求。
3.如权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于该移动单元配备有一全球定位系统(GPS),该移动单元评估位置是借由使用该移动单元的全球定位系统而被确定,该移动单元要求传输包括现行移动单元评估位置数据,而该网络基地台传输由该网络基于该现行移动单元评估位置数据而确定的相关位置数据至该移动单元。

8.如权利要求2所述的方法,其特征在于该网络允许与该网络基地台的直接移动单元无线通信以亦允许移动单元之间的对等(peer-to-peer)无线通信,其中由该移动单元激活且由该网络基地台接收的该要求是经由位于由该基地台服务的一预设较佳通信区域中的一不同移动单元传递。
9.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于该网络监视被确定的移动单元评估位置且该相关位置数据是周期性地被传输至由该网络基于该现行移动单元评估位置数据以及网络使用的动态数据确定的该移动单元。
10.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于该移动单元配备有一全球定位系统且该移动单元评估位置是借由使用该移动单元的全球定位系统而被确定。
11.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于该相关位置数据是由该网络基于该被确定的移动单元评估位置数据以及该网络使用数据的动态数据而被确定,因此较佳通信区域的一阶层式的优先次序被确定,且相关位置数据至少一第一较佳通信区域优先次序由一网络基地台传输至该移动单元。
12.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于还包括以下步骤:
借由个别地理坐标集合定义较佳通信区域;
储存该坐标集合于一网络数据库;以及
选择性地从一网络基地台传输一或更多该数据集合以提供该移动单元相关的位置数据。
13.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于该移动单元配备有一地图,该方法还包括使用相关位置数据以显示与该评估的移动单元位置相关的热点区域,并基于该相关位置数据重新定位该移动单元至一较佳通信区域的步骤。
14.一种具有较佳通信使用的地理区域的无线网络中的无线移动单元通信用的移动单元,包括:
一传输器,用以于该移动单元未位于该网络的一热点区域中时激活一预设较佳通信区域位置用的要求;
一接收器,用以接收对应由该网络服务的至少一预设较佳通信区域的地理位置数据;以及
一使用者输出装置,用以通知由该网络服务的至少一预设较佳通信区域的相关位置的移动单元使用者至一确定的移动单元评估位置。
15.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于还包括一全球定位系统用以确定该移动单元的一评估位置,其中该传输器借由传输包括现行移动单元评估位置数据的一信号而传输该预设的较佳通信位置要求,且其特征在于该移动单元接收器用以接收由该网络基于该被传输的移动单元评估位置数据而确定的对应至少一预设较佳通信区域的相关位置数据形式的地理位置数据。
16.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于该移动单元接收器是用以接收由该网络基于借由与该移动单元要求传输的物理特性相关的该无线网络分析数据确定的一移动单元评估位置而确定的对应至少一预设较佳通信区域的相关位置数据形式的地理位置数据。
17.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于还包括一全球定位系统用以确定该移动单元的一评估位置并基于对应为响应一被传输要求所接收的由该网络服务的至少一预设较佳通信区域的地理位置数据而计算相关位置数据。
18.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于移动单元用于与该网络基地台的直接通信以及亦用于与其它移动单元的对等(peer-to-peer)无线通信,且其中该移动单元接收器是用以经由从与一网络基地台直接通信的另一移动单元的传递而接收对一被传输要求的一响应。
19.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于还包括一地图显示器,用以视觉地显示与该评估移动单元位置相关的预设较佳通信区域。
20.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于该移动单元是用于一无线局域网络(WLAN)中的无线通信。
21.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于该移动单元是用于分时双工(TDD)电信通信系统中的无线通信。
22.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于该移动单元是用于分频双工(FDD)电信通信系统中的无线通信。
23.如权利要求14所述的移动单元,其特征在于用以通知该相关位置的一移动单元使用者的该使用者输出装置包括一功率使用指示器,其于该移动单元实体上未位于功率消耗相对高的一预设较佳通信区域中时呈驱动状态。
