Abstract

技术领域

背景技术

束型可选择地被使用于具有基于,例如位置及相对干扰的因子,而受控制的多重波束或一单一波束多重无线同时通信的服务。图2b及图2c说明基于不同移动单元的相对位置,聚集射频能量至移动单元UE2及UE3及来自该移动单元的基站10的二不同方案。
为使用束形,首先必须确定移动单元的位置。位置确定可借由任何一种已知的方法达成。例如,此移动单元可以使用内建的全球定位系统(GPS)接收器并报告其位置至网络而确定其位置。网络也可以使用抵达角度(Angle of Arrival,AOA),抵达时差(Time Difference of Arrival,TDOA),或都卜勒技术(Dopplertechnology)确定移动单元的位置。也可使用以网络协助移动单元确定其本身位置的混合方法。通常,每一种方法产生具有评估误差的相关边际(margin)的相对移动单元位置的一评估。
服务提供者有许多方式可以提供并控制网络存取。例如,具有一或更多WLAN存取点的一通用的无线局域网络协议可建立在IEEE 802.11b标准。在此种网络中,被选择的WLAN服务可以在相当小,定义良好的地理区域,已知为「热点」,中被提供。这些区域允许使用者有能力与他们的移动单元在线(on-line)并存取无线网络。

发明内容
本发明提供一种具有为较佳通信使用而设计或确定的地理区域的无线网络中的无线移动单元用的方法及系统。在许多应用中,特定的区域被预先定义为「热点」。或者是,较佳的通信区域可相对于信号品质或其它与移动单元的进行中通信的通信参数而被确定。
此方法包括确定一移动单元的评估的地理位置。此移动单元被提供至少一个相对于该确定的移动单元评估位置的较佳通信区域的相对位置数据。此移动单元随后基于相对的位置区域重新被定位至此种较佳通信区域。

在移动单元被配置一全球定位系统时,移动单元不需要传输评估的数据至网络。网络基站可以传出由基站服务的所有预先设定的热点区域的移动单元地理位置数据给移动单元。此移动单元对热点的相对位置数据随后可由移动单元经由其GPS确定。
此网络可以允许和网络基站的直接移动单元无线通信以及移动单元之间的对等(peer-to-peer)无线通信。由移动单元激活的由网络基站接收的要求可经由位于由该基站服务的一热点区域中的一不同的移动单元传递。

在没有移动单元GPS时,移动单元接收器较好用以接收对应至少一较佳通信区域的地理位置数据,以基于无线网络而确定的一移动单元评估位置的相对位置数据的形式。
此移动单元可被设计为用以直接与网络基站通信以及和其它移动单元的对等无线通信。在此种情况中,此移动单元较佳者也用以在与一网络基站直接通信中接收经由一中继器来自另一移动单元的对应一传输的要求的响应。
此移动单元可具有一地图显示器以在视觉上显示相对于被评估移动单元位置的较佳通信区域。此使用者装置可包括一功率使用指示器,其于移动单元实体位于功率消耗相当高的区域中时驱动。此一指示器可被用以手动或自动触发功率消耗较低的较佳通信区域一要求。

具体实施方式

此基站经由相关的天线系统407提供在被选择地理区域中的网络存取。不同的障碍物,例如墙408,房屋409及/或办公室建筑411可能限制基站提供服物品质QoS。虽然障碍区域可以由基站406服务,相较于无障碍区域,例如区域401及403,功率需求在障碍区域中通常较大。无障碍的区域可有利地被设计为支持通信及或加强对位于此种区域的移动单元通信服务的较佳的区域。

热点服务可借由使用选择性服务用的束型而被提供。例如,由基站天线接收及传输的波束可被设计为覆盖热点区域,因此通信功率临界不与由试图使用热点区域外部的被选择服务的一移动单元相配,即使在基站天线的通信半径的内。或者是,结合束型,此基站可以用以仅提供一移动单元用的加强的通信,当其经由相对地理数据的评估确定此种移动单元实体上位于热点区域中时。例如,基本呼叫服务可以为从基站406的天线407的360度半径而被提供,而数据移转,语音及/或网际网络服务仅可在热点区域401及403中提供。在此例中,移动单元402可在其所示的位置被呼叫,但是需要重新定位置热点区域401或403以进行由热点无线通信系统支持的其它型态的通信。
或者是,基站可以被设计为提供一预定通信半径内的服务,但改变一移动单元,当其实体上不位于功率消耗相当高的热点区域。例如,所有的服务可播提供于从基站406的天线407的360度半径,但更多量效率的服务可能在热点区域401及403中提供。在此种例中,移动单元402可以接收通知,当其说明其位置时,但将不会接收此种通知如果它重新位于热点区域401或403的话。

Claims (13)
1.一种具有较佳通信使用的地理区域的无线网络中的无线移动单元通信方法,其中,该移动单元在该地理区域中能与一网络基站进行较佳通信,该方法包括以下步骤:
确定一移动单元的一评估的地理位置;以及
提供与该被确定的移动单元评估位置相关但不包括该被确定的移动单元评估位置的至少一较佳通信区域的相关位置数据予该移动单元。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,其特征在于还包括步骤:
借由该移动单元传输激活一预先设定的较佳通信区域位置用的一要求;以及
由一网络基站接收该要求。

储存该坐标集合于一网络数据库;以及
