技术领域
本公开总体上涉及喷墨打印系统,并且更具体地涉及用于维护喷墨打印系统的打印头的设备以及操作这种设备的方法。
背景技术
喷墨打印系统通常包括一个或多个打印单元,并且每个打印单元具有一个或多个打印头。控制器控制打印头以将流体(比如油墨或另一种组合物)喷射到介质上。每个打印头包括喷嘴板,所述喷嘴板包括多个孔口(喷嘴),通过这些孔可以可控制地喷射来自打印头内部的油墨。

发明内容

在一些情况下,当启动维护周期时,控制器112可以停止卷筒纸118或载体124的传送。在其他情况下,例如,如果维护周期与换辊或纸张拼接一致,或者当放置在载体124上的离散介质104之间存在间隙时,则在进行维护周期时卷筒纸118或载体124的移动是不间断的。显而易见的是,维护周期可以在停止或不停止介质104、卷筒纸118和/或载体124的传送的情况下在打印头106不用于打印的任何时间进行。
打印头维护台130在打印系统100中被布置成使得打印头维护台130不会妨碍卷筒纸118和/或载体124的传送。在一些实施例中,在打印期间,打印头维护台130保持静止,而打印介质104和打印单元102相对于彼此传送。
在其他实施例中,打印头维护台130当打印单元102在平行于第一轴线114的方向上移动时与打印单元102同步移动,并且当打印单元102在平行于第二轴线116的方向上移动时保持静止。在这类实施例中,当启动维护周期时,打印单元102仅需要在平行于第二轴线116的方向上移动以便处于用于维护的位置。在一些实施例中,当启动维护周期时,打印单元102可以相对于轴线114和116保持静止,并且打印头维护台130可以朝向打印单元102移动。
参照图2A至图2G,展示了具有两个打印头106a、106b的打印系统100,应当理解,打印系统100可以包括不同数量的打印头106。在打印系统100的所示实施例中,打印头维护台130包括接收槽150以及分别与打印单元102的打印头106a、106b相关联的擦拭器152a、152b。当不使用时,擦拭器152a、152b可以存放在打印头维护台130的壳体154中的缩回(或清洁和/或存放)位置。
当打印单元102正在打印时(图2A),打印单元102定位在介质104上方,使得每个打印头106a、106b的喷嘴板156a、156b分别面向介质104。
当启动维护周期时,控制器112使打印单元102相对于打印头维护台130移动,直到打印单元102处于第一维护位置,在所述第一维护位置处,每个打印头106的喷嘴板156与同这种打印头106相关联的接收槽150对齐(图2A)。此后,控制器112使每个打印头106从其喷嘴处清洗油墨。在一些实施例中,控制器112可以致动打印头106内的压电元件或加热器以使油墨被清洗。在其他实施例中,控制器112可以驱动与联接至打印头106的供墨管线(未示出)流体连通的泵(未示出),以增大油墨被输送到打印头106的位置处的压力,并且从而使油墨从所述打印头的喷嘴清洗到接收槽150中。被清洗到接收槽150中的油墨流过排流管158和联接到排流管158的流体管线(图2A至图2G中未示出),并进入到流体回收箱(图2A至图2G中也未示出)中。
在油墨已经被清洗之后,擦拭器152从缩回位置(图2A和图2B)移动到延伸的擦拭位置(图2C)。在所示的实施例中,打印头维护台130被配置成使得当擦拭器152a、152b移动到擦拭位置时,擦拭器152a、152b的擦拭部分160a、160b最初分别与分别同擦拭器152a、152b相关联的打印头106a、106b的喷嘴板156a、156b的第一边缘162a、162b对齐。
此后,打印单元102和打印头维护台130相对于彼此移动,直到每个擦拭器152的擦拭部分160接触到与这种擦拭器152相关联的打印头106的喷嘴板156的第一边缘162(图2D)。在一些实施例中,打印头维护台130朝向打印单元102移动,而打印单元102保持静止。在其他实施例中,打印头维护台130和打印单元102都朝向彼此移动。在又其他实施例中,打印头维护台130保持静止,并且打印单元102朝向打印头维护台130移动。
然后,打印单元102和打印头维护台130相对于彼此移动,使得每个擦拭器152的擦拭部分160与同所述擦拭器相关联的打印头106的喷嘴板156保持接触并对其进行擦拭。进行这种移动,直到打印单元102到达第二维护位置,在所述第二维护位置处,擦拭部分160到达喷嘴板156的第二边缘164(图2E)。在所示实施例中,当打印单元102布置在第二维护位置时,打印单元102相对于打印维护台130被定位成使得打印单元102的中心轴166与打印头维护台130的中心轴168对齐,如图2E中所示。然后可以将擦拭器152缩回到壳体154中以进行清洁和存放,如下所述(图2G)。
显而易见的是,在擦拭器缩回到壳体154中之前的维护周期期间,打印单元102和打印头维护状态130可以在第一维护位置与第二维护位置之间相对于彼此反复(例如,来回)移动。例如,可以进行这种反复移动以在维护周期期间更彻底地擦拭打印头106的喷嘴板156。
如果要进行附加打印,则控制器112可以使打印单元102返回到图2A中所示的打印位置以便继续打印。
可替代地,如图2G中所见,打印单元102可以保持在第二维护位置,并且控制器112可以致动泵169来使布置在打印头维护台130的周边周围的气胀密封垫170充气。气胀密封垫170通过例如粘合剂固定到打印头维护台130,并且由打印头维护台130承载。气胀密封垫170被充气,直到气胀密封垫170的顶部172压靠在打印单元102的外表面174上。当以这种方式充气时,气胀密封垫170在打印单元102与打印头维护台130之间提供密封,所述密封将所述打印单元与所述打印头维护台之间的空间176与布置打印系统100的周围环境隔离。(图2G)由于打印单元102的打印头106的喷嘴板156布置在体积176中,因此这类结构也被保护免受周围环境中的碎屑或污染物、和/或周围环境的温度和/或湿度的变化的影响。
参照图3,打印头维护台130的维护部132通过壳体154的内侧壁182彼此分隔开。在一个实施例中,内侧壁182延伸打印头维护台130的壳体154的长度。打印头维护台130的每个接收槽150包括倾斜的第一侧壁184、倾斜的第二侧壁186、基本直立的第三侧壁188、以及基本直立的第四侧壁190。倾斜的第一侧壁184和第二侧壁186朝向布置在每个接收槽150的底部中的排流管158(参见图4A)倾斜。这种侧壁被配置成使得沉积在第一倾斜侧壁184或倾斜的第二侧壁186上的任何清洗的油墨都将流向排流管158。在一些实施例中,接收槽150中的一个或多个的直立侧壁188或190之一可以与分隔打印头维护台130的维护部132的壳体154的内侧壁182形成一体。
图4A和图4B示出了打印头维护台130,其中,擦拭器152处于缩回位置,如上文结合图2A、图2B和图2G所描述的。图4F和图4G示出了打印头维护台130,其中,擦拭器152处于擦拭位置,如结合图2C至图2F所描述的。
参照图4A至图4G,在所示实施例中,打印头维护台130的每个维护部132包括布置在打印头维护台130的壳体154的顶部上的可转动擦拭器杆192。如图4D中所示,在一个实施例中,每个擦拭器152的后部或锚固构件194可以以任何合适的方式固定到擦拭器杆192。例如,每个锚固构件194保持有分别由基底表面196和侧表面197限定的锚固凹部195、以及向内延伸的凸缘198和199,所述凸缘妨碍锚固构件192从锚固凹部195移除,但允许锚定构件194沿纵轴移动,以允许擦拭器152的初始安装和后续更换。在另一个实施例中,擦拭器152可以不包括延伸凸缘198和199,并且替代地,保持构件300将擦拭器152保持就位。在这类实施例中,可以通过移除保持构件300来更换擦拭器152。
继续参照图4A和图4B,第一擦拭器杆192a在相反的端200a和202a处并且分别在壳体154的端壁208的孔204a和端壁210的孔206a中被轴颈连接。第二擦拭器192b与第一擦拭器杆192a偏离,并且在其相反的端200b和202b处分别轴颈连接在端壁208的孔204b和端壁210的孔206b中。第一皮带轮214a和第二皮带轮216a分别固定到第一擦拭器杆192a的端部200a和202a,邻近端壁208和210。第三皮带轮214b和第四皮带轮216b分别固定到第二擦拭器杆192b的端部200b和202b,邻近端壁208和210并且在其外部。第一皮带218和第二皮带220分别围绕第一皮带轮214a和第三皮带轮214b以及围绕第二皮带轮216a和第四皮带轮216b延伸。
第一致动器222a具有联接至邻近第一端壁210的第一擦拭器杆192a的驱动轴224a。第二致动器222b包括联接至邻近第二端壁208的第二擦拭器杆192b的驱动轴224b。致动器222a和222b分别在相反的方向上朝向延伸位置和缩回位置同步地驱动第一擦拭器杆192a和第二擦拭器杆192b。皮带218和220将由每个致动器222a和222b产生的转矩传输到这两个擦拭器杆192a和192b。
第一致动器222a和第二致动器222b可以是例如电机、气缸或可操作用于分别转动第一擦拭器杆192a和第二擦拭器杆192b的其他设备。在优选实施例中,致动器222a和222b可以是气动电机或气缸。然而,对于普通技术人员来说显而易见的是,可以使用其他类型的电机,包括任何合适类型的不同流体电机或感应电机,比如感应电机、直流电机、步进电机等。
在一些实施例中,打印头维护台130的维护部132的擦拭器杆192在垂直于擦拭器152的纵轴的方向上、在延伸(即,擦拭)位置与清洁和存放(即,缩回)位置之间移动大约180度。
参照图4A至图4E,固定到壳体154的内部底表面250的是一个或多个擦拭器清洁组件252。在所示实施例中,一个擦拭器清洁组件252a、252b、…、252f与打印头维护台130的每个擦拭器152a、152b、…、152f相关联。在其他实施例中,多个擦拭器152可以共享一个擦拭器清洁组件252。在又其他实施例中,一个擦拭器清洁组件252可以由与每个维护部132相关联的所有擦拭器152所共享。
每个擦拭器清洁组件252a、252b、…、和252f分别包括腔室254a、254b、…、和254f,与这种清洁组件相关联的擦拭器152a、152b、…、和152f可以缩回到所述腔室中以进行清洁和存放。控制器112(参见图1)操作致动器222来转动擦拭器杆192,直到固定到这种擦拭器杆192的每个擦拭器152被布置在与这种擦拭器152相关联的擦拭器清洁组件252的腔室254中。
每个腔室254包括流体进入口256和流体清洗口258。流体进入口256的输入端260联接到流体供应管线262。流体供应管线262经由三通阀264联接到清洁流体供应装置266和加压气体供应装置268。流体进入口256的输出端270与腔室254流体连通,使得引入流体进入口256的任何流体沉积到这种腔室254中。
在所示实施例中,每个腔室254的流体清洗口258联接到废物箱272。在一些实施例中,一个废物箱272可以联接到每个流体清洗口258。在其他实施例中,一个废物箱272可以联接到多个流体清洗口258,和/或多个废物箱272可以联接到一个或多个流体清洗口258。
例如,为了清洁擦拭器152,在已经如上文结合图2A至图2G所描述的使用这种擦拭器152擦拭喷嘴板156之后,控制器112(图1)操作致动器222以转动擦拭器杆192,直到固定到这种擦拭器杆192的擦拭器152被布置在腔室254中。
为了防止引入腔室254中的清洁流体和/或加压气体逸出到壳体154中,密封垫255可以包围每个擦拭器152和/或固定擦拭器152的刀片固持器300。当擦拭器152布置在腔室254中时,密封垫255可以形成将腔室254和擦拭器152与壳体154的其余部分隔离的密封。在一些实施例中,密封垫255或另一密封垫可以布置在腔室254的开口周围以提供这种密封。
在擦拭器152被布置在腔室254中之后,控制器112致动三通阀264,使得流体供应管线262联接到清洁流体供应装置266。然后,控制器112致动泵274以迫使清洁流体从清洁流体供应装置266进入流体供应管线262,通过流体进入口256,并进入腔室254。当腔室254被清洁供应流体填充时,清洁流体流过擦拭器152并进入流体清洗口258。清洁流体的这种流动除去了擦拭器152上的任何油墨和碎屑,并将其带有的这种油墨和/或碎屑通过流体清洗口258运送到废物箱272中。
在迫使清洁流体在预定时间量上经过擦拭器152之后,控制器112操作三通阀264以将流体供应管线262联接到加压气体供应装置268以将加压气体引入腔室254中。腔室254中的加压气体流过擦拭器152并通过流体清洗口258离开腔室254。加压气体流承载腔室254中和/或擦拭器152上的任何清洁流体,并干燥腔室254和/或擦拭器152。在一些实施例中,废物箱272可以包括对环境开放的端口276,可以通过所述端口释放加压气体。端口276可以包括捕获流体和/或颗粒的过滤器。
在允许加压气体在预定时间量上流过腔室254之后,控制器112关闭三通阀264。在擦拭器152需要擦拭喷嘴板156之前擦拭器152可以保留在腔室254中,尽管擦拭器可以在任何时间移动到延伸位置。
参照图4A至图4G,每个接收槽150中的排流管158联接到流体管线连接器280。流体管线连接器280经由流体管线282联接到流体回收箱284。如上所述,从打印头106清洗的油墨或其他流体可以沉积在第一倾斜侧壁184和第二倾斜侧壁186上并流入排流管158。这种油墨或(多种)其他流体流过排流管158、流体管线连接器280、流体管线282,并流入流体回收箱284。在一些实施例中,从每个打印头106清洗的油墨或其他流体被传递至联接到与这种打印头106相关联的接收槽150的特定流体回收箱284。这允许从打印头106清洗的不同油墨或其他流体被单独地收集,并且被再循环或适当地处理。在其他实施例中,从多个打印头106清洗的油墨或其他流体可以被引导到同一个流体回收箱284。
显而易见的是,一个或多个过滤器可以布置在流体管线262或282中的一个或两个中,以捕获流过所述流体管线中的流体中的任何污染物。
参照图4A,在一些实施例中,气体管286联接到气胀密封垫170。控制器112可以操作气体供应装置(未示出)以通过气体管286供应气体并进入气胀密封垫170,以使气胀密封垫170充气,如上文结合图2G所描述的。
参照图4B和图4G,一个或多个气动升降器290固定到打印头维护台130的壳体154上。如图4G中所示,控制器112操作这种升降器290以将打印头维护台130朝向打印单元102升高,如结合图2D所描述的。如图4B中所示,控制器112操作这种升降器290以将打印头维护台130背离打印单元102降低,如结合图2F所描述的。
参照图5,在一个实施例中,壳体154由比如金属、玻璃纤维等固体材料块制成。壳体154可以被铣削或以其他方式处理以限定侧壁184、186和接收槽150的排流管158、以及可以布置擦拭器清洁组件252的容器292。孔204和206也可钻入壳体154的第一端壁208和第二端壁210中,擦拭器杆192的端部200和202可以分别通过所述第一端壁和第二端壁而穿过。
鉴于前文的描述,对本领域技术人员来说,对本实施例的许多修改将是显而易见的。因此,本说明书仅被解释为说明性的,并且是出于使本领域技术人员能够制造和使用实施例并且教导实现实施例的最佳模式的目的而呈现的。保留所附权利要求书范围内的所有修改的专有权。
Claims (21)
1.一种用于清洁打印单元的打印头的喷嘴板的打印头维护台,所述打印头维护台包括:
擦拭器杆,具有固定至其上的擦拭器;
擦拭器清洁组件;
致动器;以及
控制器;
其中,所述擦拭器在不使用时存放在所述擦拭器清洁组件中,并且所述控制器操作所述致动器来转动所述擦拭器杆以便将所述擦拭器从所述擦拭器清洁组件移动到擦拭位置,并引起所述打印头维护台与所述打印单元的相对移动,从而利用所述擦拭器来擦拭所述喷嘴板。
2.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护台,包括具有排流管的槽,其中,所述控制器相对于所述槽定位所述打印头以使得从所述打印头喷射的流体被引导朝向所述排流管。
3.如权利要求2所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述槽包括倾斜侧壁,并且从所述打印头喷射到所述倾斜侧壁上的所述流体流向所述排流管。
4.如权利要求3所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述排流管联接到废物收集箱,并且从所述打印头喷射的流体被收集在所述废物收集箱中。
5.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护台,包括另一个擦拭器杆,所述另一个擦拭器杆具有固定至其上的另一个擦拭器,其中,所述另一个擦拭器杆联接到所述擦拭器杆以使得所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个擦拭器杆同步转动。
6.如权利要求5所述的打印头维护台,包括联接所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个擦拭器杆的皮带。
7.如权利要求5所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述致动器的驱动轴联接到所述擦拭器杆,另一个致动器的驱动轴联接到所述另一个擦拭器杆,并且来自所述第一致动器和所述另一个致动器两者的转矩被传递至所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个擦拭器杆两者。
8.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述擦拭器清洁组件包括联接到清洁流体源的流体进入口、流体清洗口和擦拭器腔室,其中,所述清洁流体通过所述流体进入口被引入到所述擦拭器腔室中,穿过布置在所述擦拭器腔室中的擦拭器的面,并通过所述流体清洗口离开所述擦拭器腔室,从而清洁所述擦拭器的所述面。
9.如权利要求8所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述流体进入口进一步联接到气体源,并且所述气体通过所述流体进入口被引入所述擦拭器腔室,以便对布置在所述擦拭器腔室中的所述擦拭器的所述面进行干燥。
10.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护台,包括气胀密封垫,所述气胀密封垫在被充气时将所述打印头的喷嘴板密封在由所述打印单元、所述充气的密封垫和所述打印头维护台形成的空间中。
11.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护台,包括壳体,并且所述清洁组件固定到所述壳体的内部底表面。
12.如权利要求11所述的打印头维护台,其中,所述壳体包括相对的第一侧壁和第二侧壁,并且所述擦拭器杆在其相反的第一端和第二端处分别轴颈连接在所述第一侧壁和所述第二侧壁中的第一孔和第二孔中。
13.一种操作打印头维护台以清洁打印单元的打印头的喷嘴板的方法,其中,所述打印头维护台包括擦拭器杆、固定至所述擦拭器杆的擦拭器、以及擦拭器清洁组件,所述方法包括:
将所述擦拭器布置在擦拭器清洁组件中;以及
操作致动器来转动所述擦拭器杆并将所述擦拭器从所述擦拭器清洁组件移动到擦拭位置;以及
使所述打印单元相对于打印头维护台移动,从而利用所述擦拭器来擦拭所述喷嘴板。
14.如权利要求13所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:相对于槽定位所述打印头以使得从所述打印头喷射的流体被引导朝向布置在所述槽中的排流管。
15.如权利要求14所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:将所述排流管联接到废物收集箱;以及将从所述打印头喷射的所述流体收集在所述废物收集箱中。
16.如权利要求13所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:提供另一个擦拭器杆,所述另一个擦拭器杆具有固定到其上的另一个擦拭器;联接所述另一个擦拭器杆和所述擦拭器杆;以及同步地转动所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个杆。
17.如权利要求16所述的方法,联接所述另一个擦拭器杆和所述擦拭器杆的步骤包括利用皮带来联接所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个擦拭器杆的步骤。
18.如权利要求13所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:将所述致动器的驱动轴联接到所述擦拭器杆;将另一个致动器的驱动轴联接到所述另一个擦拭器杆;以及将来自所述第一致动器和所述另一个致动器两者的转矩传递至所述擦拭器杆和所述另一个擦拭器杆两者。
19.如权利要求13所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:将清洁物引入到所述擦拭器清洁组件的腔室中,使得所述清洁流体穿过布置在所述腔室中的所述擦拭器的面并离开所述腔室,从而清洁所述擦拭器的所述面。
20.如权利要求19所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:向所述腔室中引入气体以便对布置在所述擦拭器腔室中的所述擦拭器的所述面进行干燥。
21.如权利要求20所述的方法,包括以下进一步的步骤:进一步包括气胀密封垫,其中,所述密封垫的膨胀将所述打印头的喷嘴板密封在由所述打印单元、所述充气的密封垫和所述打印头维护台形成的空间中。
