技术领域
本实用新型大致涉及一种喷墨打印系统,更具体地说,涉及维护喷墨打印系统的打印头的装置。
背景技术
喷墨打印系统一般包括一个或多个打印单元,并且每个打印单元具有一个或多个打印头。控制器控制打印头喷射流体(如油墨或其他组合物)到介质上。每个打印头包括喷嘴板,其包括多个孔(喷嘴),通过其可以控制打印头内的油墨的喷射。
打印头一般包括与一个或多个喷嘴流体连通的流体腔室。流体腔室的内部压力相对于大气压力是增大的,以迫使流体液滴通过(多个)喷嘴喷射。一种类型的打印头使用压电元件,其会使得流体腔室的壁产生变形,以减少其体积,从而增大流体腔室内的压力。可替代地,加热元件可用于在流体腔室内气化一些流体(或流体的组分,例如流体载体或溶剂),以在其中形成气泡,增加流体室内部的压力。在任一情况下,控制器控制流经压电元件的电流以控制其变形,或反过来控制流经加热元件的电流以控制其温度,以便在需要时形成液滴。本领域公知的其他类型的喷墨技术可在本实用新型所描述的打印系统中使用。

再次参见图1,打印系统100还包括打印头维护站130。在一些实施例中,打印头维护站130包括用于打印头106的各行108的维护部132,其包括打印单元102。控制器112启动维护循环以清洗打印单元102的打印头106的喷嘴板。在维护循环内,油墨通过打印头106的喷嘴清除,以从中释放干燥油墨和其他碎屑,各个打印头106的喷嘴板的所有油墨和/或其上的碎屑均被擦拭。
在一些实施例中,自从上次维护循环,打印单元102已经操作了预定的时间段后,控制器112启动本次维护循环。在其它实施例中,如果介质104是网状物118(图1A),则当纸层移动经过打印单元102时,控制器112可以检测纸层并且协调维护循环。在另外的实施例中,控制器112可以根据辊的改变协调维护循环。在某些情况下,如果载体124(图1B)传输介质104,在已打印预定量的离散介质104后,控制器112可以启动清洗循环。更通常地,控制器112可在周期性或非周期性或这两种组合的基础上启动维护(例如,维护循环可每天启动,但如果每天清洗前,已打印特定数目的页面,维护循环可提前启动)。
在一些情况下,控制器112在维护循环启动时可以停止网状物118或载体124的移动。在另一些情况下,网状物118或载体124的移动在维护循环进行期间是不间断的,例如,如果维护循环与辊的变化或纸的拼接一致,或当置于载体124上的离散介质104之间存在间隙时。应当显而易见的是,在打印头106不用于印刷的任何时间,均可以进行维护循环,无论有或没有停止介质104、网状物118、和/或载体124的传输。
打印头维护站130设置在打印系统100中,使得打印头维护站130不与网状物118和/或载体124的传输关联。在一些实施例中,在打印期间,打印头维护站130保持静止,而打印介质104和打印单元102相对彼此移动。
在其他实施例中,当打印单元102沿平行于第一轴线114的方向移动时,打印头维护站130与打印单元102同步地移动,当打印单元102沿平行于第二轴线116的方向移动时,其保持静止。在该实施例中,当维护循环启动时,打印单元102仅需要沿平行于第二轴线116的方向移动,以在适当的位置进行维护。在一些实施例中,当维护循环启动时,打印单元102可相对于轴线114和116保持静止,打印头维护站130可向打印单元102移动。
参见图2A-2G,其示出了具有两个打印头106a、106b的打印系统100,需要理解的是,打印系统100可以包括不同数量的打印头106。在所示实施例的打印系统100中,打印头维护站130包括接收槽150和分别与打印单元102的打印头106a、106b相关联的擦拭器152a、152b。当不使用时,擦拭器152a、152b可以被储存在打印头维护站130的壳体154内的缩回(或清洗和/或储存)位置。
当打印单元102打印时(图2A),打印单元102定位在介质104上,使得每个打印头106a、106b的喷嘴板156a、156b分别地面对介质104。
当维护循环启动时,控制器112使打印单元102相对于打印头维护站130移动,直至打印单元102到达第一维护位置,在该位置各个打印头106的喷嘴板156对齐于与该打印头106相关联的接收槽150(图2A)。此后,控制器112使各打印头106从它们的喷嘴中清除油墨。在一些实施例中,控制器112驱动打印头106内部的压电元件或加热器,使油墨被清除。在其他实施例中,控制器112可驱动与连接到打印头106的油墨供应管(未示出)流体连通的泵(未示出),以增加油墨输送至打印头106处的压力,从而促使油墨可以从其喷嘴中清除并进入接收槽150。被清除到接收槽150的油墨流过排放口158和与排放口158连接的流体管(图2A-2G中未示出),并进入流体回收罐(图2A-2G中也未示出)。
油墨被清除后,将擦拭器152从缩回位置(图2A和图2B),移动到伸出的擦拭位置(图2C)。在所示实施例中,打印头维护站130被设置成当擦拭器152a、152b移动到擦拭位置时,擦拭器152a、152b的擦拭部160a、160b均初始对齐于与擦拭器152a、152b分别相关联的打印头106a、106b的喷嘴板156a、156b的第一边缘162a、162b。
此后,打印单元102和打印头维护站130相对于彼此移动,直到各擦拭器152的擦拭部160和与该擦拭器152相关联的打印头106的喷嘴板156的第一边缘162相接触(图2D)。在一些实施例中,打印头维护站130向打印单元102移动,而打印单元102保持静止。在其他实施例中,打印头维护站130和打印单元102均朝向彼此移动。在另外的实施例中,打印头维护站130保持静止,并且打印单元102朝向打印头维护站130移动。
然后,打印单元102和打印头维护站130相对彼此移动,使得各个擦拭器152的擦拭部160保持和与该擦拭器相关联的打印头106的喷嘴板156相接触,并对其进行擦拭。该移动一直进行,直到打印单元102达到第二维护位置,在该位置擦拭部160到达喷嘴板156的第二边缘164(图2E)。在所示实施例中,当打印单元102设置在第二维护位置时,打印单元102相对于打印头维护站130定位,使得打印单元102的中心轴线166和打印头维护站130的中心轴线168对齐,如图2E所示。如下所述,然后,擦拭器152可以缩回到壳体154以清洗和储存(图2G)。
应当显而易见的是,在擦拭器缩回到壳体154之前的维护循环内,打印单元102和打印头维护站130可在第一维护位置和第二维护位置之间相对彼此重复移动(例如,来回)。该重复运动可进行,以在维护循环内更彻底地擦拭打印头106的喷嘴板156。
如果打算进行附加打印,控制器112可以使打印单元102返回到图2A所示的打印位置,继续打印。
可替代地,如图2G所述,打印单元102可以保持在第二维护位置,并且控制器112可驱动泵169对设置在打印头维护站130周边的充气垫170进行充气。充气垫170通过例如粘合剂固定在打印头维护站130上,并且由打印头维护站130携带。对充气垫170充气,直到充气垫170的顶部172压住印刷单元102的外表面174。当以这种方式充气,充气垫170在打印单元102和打印头维护站130之间提供密封,从打印系统100所处的周围环境中在它们之间隔离一空间176(图2G)。因为打印单元102的打印头106的喷嘴板156被设置在空间176中,该结构也保护其免受周围环境的碎屑或污染物干扰,和/或改变周围环境的温度和/或湿度。
参见图3,打印头维护站130的维护部132通过壳体154的内侧壁182彼此分离。在一个实施例中,内侧壁182在打印头维护站130的外壳154内延伸一定长度。打印头维护站130的各个接收槽150包括倾斜的第一侧壁184、倾斜的第二侧壁186,基本竖直的第三侧壁188、和基本竖直的第四侧壁190。倾斜的第一、第二侧壁184、186朝向设置在各个接收槽150底部的排放口158倾斜(参见图4A)。该侧壁被构造成使得沉积到倾斜的第一侧壁184或倾斜的第二侧壁186的任何被清除油墨朝向排放口158流动。在一些实施例中,一个或多个接收槽150的竖直侧壁188或190之一可与壳体154的用于分隔打印头维护站130的维护部132的内侧壁182集成。
图4A和4B示出了擦拭器152位于缩回位置的打印头维护站130,如上所述,并结合图2A、2B和2G。图4F和4G示出了擦拭器152位于擦拭位置的打印头维护站130,结合图2C至2F所示。
参照图4A至4G,在所示实施例中,打印头维护站130的各个维护部132包括设置在打印头维护站130的外壳154的顶部的可旋转的擦拭器杆192。如图4D所示,在一个实施例中,各擦拭器152的后侧或锚定部件194可以以任何合适的方式固定到擦拭器杆192。例如,各个锚定部件194被保持在由底座和侧表面196和197分别限定的锚定凹槽195内,并且向内延伸凸缘198和199,它们干扰从锚定凹槽195移除锚定部件194,但允许锚定部件194沿着纵向轴线移动,以允许擦拭器152的初始安装和随后更换。在另一个实施例中,擦拭器152可以不包括延伸的凸缘198和199,而包括使擦拭器152处于适当位置的保持构件300。在该些实施例中,擦拭器152可以通过移除保持构件300来替换。
继续参照图4A和4B,第一擦拭器杆192a相对的端部200a、202a轴颈分别位于壳体154的端壁208、210的孔204a、206a内。第二擦拭器杆192b相对第一擦拭器杆192a偏移,其相对的端部200b、202b轴颈分别位于端壁208、210的孔204b、206b内。第一和第二皮带轮214a、216a分别固定到与端壁208、210相邻的第一擦拭器杆192a的端部200a、202a。第三和第四皮带轮214b、216b分别固定到与端壁208、210相邻的并位于其外的第二擦拭器杆192b的端部200b、202b。第一、第二皮带218、220分别大致在第一、第三皮带轮214a、214b中和大致在第二、第四皮带轮216a、216b中延伸。
第一致动器222a具有连接到与第一端壁210相邻的第一擦拭器杆192a的驱动轴224a。第二致动器222b包括连接到与第二端壁208相邻的第二擦拭器杆192b的驱动轴224b。致动器222a、222b同步驱动第一、第二擦拭器杆192a、192b,分别在相反的方向朝向伸出和缩回位置。皮带218、220传送各个致动器222a、222b产生的力矩到擦拭器杆192a、192b。
第一致动器222a和第二致动器222B可以是,例如,电机、气缸、或可分别操作第一擦拭器杆192a和第二擦拭器杆192b并使其旋转的其他设备。在一个优选的实施例中,致动器222a和222b可以是气动电机或气缸。然而,对普通技术人员应该显而易见的是,其它类型的电机包括不同的流体电机或任何合适类型的感应电机,如感应电机、直流电机、步进电机等均可使用。
在一些实施例中,打印头维护站130的维护部132的擦拭器杆192沿垂直于擦拭器152的纵向轴线的方向移动,伸出(即,擦拭)位置和清洗及储存(即,缩回)位置之间大约有180度。
参见图4A-4E,一个或多个擦拭清洗组件252固定到壳体154的内底表面250。在示出的实施例中,擦拭清洗组件252a、252b、...、252f与打印头维护站130的各个擦拭器152a、152b、…、152f相关联。在其他实施例中,多个擦拭器152可以共享一个擦拭清洗组件252。在另外实施例中,一个擦拭清洗组件252可以由与各个维护部132相关联的所有擦拭器152共享。
每个擦拭清洗组件252a、252b、...、252f分别包括一腔室254a、254b、...、254f,与该清洗组件相关联的擦拭器152a、152b、…、152f可以缩回至进入其中以清洗和储存。控制器112(参见图1)操作致动器222以旋转擦拭器杆192,直至固定到该擦拭器杆192各个擦拭器152被设置在与该擦拭器152相关联的擦拭清洗组件252的腔室254中。
每个腔室254包括流体进口256和流体清除端口258。流体进口256的输入端260连接到流体供应管262。流体供应管262经由三通阀264连接到清洗流体供应266和加压气体供应268。流体进口256的输出端270与腔室254流体连通,使得引入流体进口256的任何流体均沉积到该腔室254。
在所示实施例中,各个腔室254的流体清除端口258均连接到废液罐272。在一些实施例中,一个废液罐272可以连接到各个流体清除端口258。在其它实施例中,一个废液罐272可以连接到多个流体清除端口258和/或多个废液罐272可连接到一个或多个流体清除端口258。
为了清洗擦拭器152,例如,如上所述结合图2A-2G,该擦拭器152已被用来擦拭喷嘴板156后,控制器112(图1)操作致动器222以旋转擦拭器杆192,直至固定到该擦拭器杆192的擦拭器152被设置在腔室254内。
为了防止引入到腔室254的清洗流体和/或加压气体逸入壳体154,垫子255可以围绕各个擦拭器152和/或固定擦拭器152的保持构件300。当擦拭器152设置在腔室254中,垫子255可以形成密封,其将腔室254和擦拭器152从壳体154的其余部分中隔离开来。在一些实施例中,垫子255或另一垫子可被设置成围绕腔室254的开口以提供该密封。
擦拭器152设置在腔室254内之后,控制器112驱动三通阀264,使得流体供应管262连接到清洗流体供应266。然后控制器112驱动泵274以促使清洗流体从清洗流体供应266到流体供应管262,经过流体进口256,并进入腔室254。当腔室254充满清洗供应流体时,清洗流体流经擦拭器152并进入流体清除端口258。清洗流体的这种流动可移除擦拭器152上的所有油墨和碎屑,并可携带该油墨和/或碎屑通过流体清除端口258进入废液罐272。
清洗流体通过擦拭器152预定的时间量之后,控制器112操作三通阀264以连接流体供应管262到加压气体供应268,以在腔室254内引入加压气体。腔室254中的加压气体流经擦拭器152并通过流体清除端口258离开腔室254。加压气体的流动带走腔室254内和/或擦拭器152上的所有清洗流体,并干燥腔室254和/或擦拭器152。在一些实施例中,废液罐272可以包括向可释放加压气体的环境开放的端口276。端口276可以包括过滤器,用于拦截流体和/或颗粒。
允许加压气体流经腔室254预定的时间量之后,控制器112关闭三通阀264。虽然擦拭器可以在任何时间移动到伸出位置,擦拭器152可保留在腔室254内,直到需要擦拭器152擦拭喷嘴板156。
参见图4A至4G,各个接收槽150的排放口158均连接到流体管连接器280。流体管连接器280经由流体管282连接到流体回收罐284。如上所述,从打印头106中清除而来的油墨或其它流体可沉积在第一倾斜侧壁184和第二倾斜侧壁186并流入排放口158。该油墨或(多种)其它流体流过排放口158、流体管连接器280、流体管282、并进入流体回收罐284。在一些实施例中,从各个打印头106清除而来的油墨或其它流体被转移到特定的流体回收罐284,其连接与该打印头106相关联的接收槽150。这样允许分别收集从各个打印头106清除而来的不同的油墨或其它流体,并将其适当回收或处置。在其他实施例中,从多个打印头106清除而来的油墨或其它流体可以被引导到相同的流体回收罐284。
应当显而易见的是,一个或多个过滤器可以设置在流体管262或282中或两者均设置,以拦截流经其的流体中的任何污染物。
参见图4A,在一些实施例中,气管286连接到充气垫170。如上所述并结合图2G,控制器112可以操作气体供应(未示出)以通过气管286将气体供应到充气垫170以对充气垫170充气。
参见图4B和4G,一个或多个气动升降器290固定到打印头维护站130的壳体154。如图4G所示,控制器112操作该升降器290以朝向打印单元102提升打印头维护站130,结合图2D所示。如图4B所示,控制器112操作该升降器290以远离打印单元102的方向降低打印头维护站130,结合图2F所示。
参见图5,在一个实施例中,壳体154由材料例如金属、玻璃纤维和类似物的固体块制成。壳体154可以研磨或以其他方式处理,以限定侧壁184、186和接收槽150的排放口158,以及擦拭清洗组件252可以设置在其内的容器292。可以在壳体154的第一、第二端壁208、210上钻孔204、206,擦拭器杆192的端部200、202可分别穿过该孔。
在前述说明书的基础上,很多对本实用新型的修改对本领域技术人员而言都是显而易见的。因此,说明书被解释为仅是说明性的,并且是出于使本领域技术人员能够制造和使用本实用新型以及教导实施相同的最佳模式的目的。保留落入所附权利要求的范围内的所有修改的专有权。
Claims (12)
1.一种用于清洗打印单元的打印头的喷嘴板的打印头维护站,其特征在于,其包括有:
一擦拭器杆,所述擦拭器杆上固定有擦拭器;
一擦拭清洗组件;
一致动器;以及
一控制器;
其中,所述擦拭器不使用时储存在所述擦拭清洗组件中,所述控制器操作所述致动器旋转所述擦拭器杆,以将所述擦拭器从所述擦拭清洗组件移动到擦拭位置,使得所述打印头维护站和所述打印单元相对运动,以借助所述擦拭器擦拭所述喷嘴板。
2.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述打印头维护站包括一槽,所述槽具有一排放口,其中所述控制器相对于所述槽定位所述打印头,使得从所述打印头喷射的流体朝向所述排放口。
3.如权利要求2所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述槽包括一倾斜的侧壁,位于所述倾斜的侧壁上的从所述打印头喷射的所述流体流向所述排放口。
4.如权利要求3所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述排放口连接到一废液收集罐,从所述打印头喷射的流体被收集到所述废液收集罐。
5.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述打印头维护站包括一附加擦拭器杆,所述附加擦拭器杆上固定有一附加擦拭器,所述附加擦拭器杆连接到所述擦拭器杆,使得所述擦拭器杆与所述附加擦拭器杆同步旋转。
6.如权利要求5所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述打印头维护站包括皮带,所述皮带连接到所述擦拭器杆与所述附加擦拭器杆。
7.如权利要求5所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述致动器的驱动轴连接到所述擦拭器杆,一附加致动器的驱动轴连接到所述附加擦拭器杆,所述致动器和所述附加致动器的力矩均传递到所述擦拭器杆和所述附加擦拭器杆。
8.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述擦拭清洗组件包括一连接到清洗流体的源的流体进口、一流体清除端口、以及一擦拭器腔室,其中所述清洗流体通过所述流体进口被引入到所述擦拭器腔室,流经设置在所述擦拭器腔室内的擦拭器的一面,通过所述流体清除端口排出所述擦拭器腔室,从而清洗所述擦拭器的所述面。
9.如权利要求8所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述流体进口进一步连接到气体的源,所述气体通过所述流体进口被引入到所述擦拭器腔室,以干燥设置在所述擦拭器腔室内的所述擦拭器的所述面。
10.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述打印头维护站包括充气垫,所述充气垫充气时在所述打印单元、所述充气垫、及所述打印头维护站所形成的空间内密封所述打印头的一喷嘴板。
11.如权利要求1所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述打印头维护站包括壳体,所述擦拭清洗组件固定到所述壳体的内底表面。
12.如权利要求11所述的打印头维护站,其特征在于,所述壳体包括相对的第一和第二侧壁,所述擦拭器杆的相对的第一和第二端部的轴颈分别位于所述第一和第二侧壁的第一和第二孔内。
