在一个典型实施方案中,本公开提供了包含UV可固化单层粘合剂的组合物。该材料可以为基于丙烯酸的粘合剂组合物。优选地,所述粘合剂组合物为透明的或半透明的。所述粘合剂组合物可以为环氧型粘合剂,但是,优选地,所述组合物不为脆性的。优选地,例如通过诸如在膜中加入增粘剂材料,使所述粘合剂组合物具有某种程度的粘着性。或者,所述组合物可以具有压敏性质。优选地,所述组合物能够粘附于钢并粘附于聚丙烯线涂层以产生永久或牢固的结合,并且对接头区域提供保护使其免受腐蚀并在暴露于化学物、蒸汽和外部环境时具有抵抗能力。

形成密封的一个典型方法包括第一步:提供处于邻接关系的管的两个部分。第二步是将粘合剂组合物涂覆于重叠线涂层边缘的管接头区域。能够通过本领域技术人员已知的许多技术中的任意一种将所述保护性涂层涂覆在接头区域,所述技术例如但不限于,从储液器通过管道喷雾、涂抹、涂漆、刮、抽,使用喷胶器或其它加压液体喷雾器手动涂覆、由管进行分配,等。第三步是将包覆的粘合剂组合物暴露于UV光下若干分钟以启动反应并完成组合物的固化。暴露于UV光下的时间可以根据组合物、粘合剂层的厚度、组合物的透明度、UV光源发出的能级、其它引发剂含量以及其它参量的变化而变化。通常,固化时间的一个典型范围可以为约1-6分钟。优选地,固化时间可以为约2-5分钟。更优选地,固化时间可以为约2-3分钟。可以根据多种因素使用较短的(或可能较长的)固化时间,所述因素包括上文描述的那些。优选地,暴露于UV光的涂覆的涂层通常均匀地围绕在暴露表面的周围。这可以通过使用若干UV光源、单一的UV光源加上以多个角度位于管接头区域周围的镜子(或其它反射或指引或聚焦装置)、弧形UV光源或其它适当构造而实现。UV光能够基本穿过整个膜层,因为膜是透明的或半透明的;因此,将固化所有或基本所有的膜。

本文所公开的组合物和方法非常适合用于连接管单元以形成通过铺管船沿海床放置在沿岸或离岸的连续长管。与在现场应用所必须的热活化收缩套相比,尤其是与通常为时间敏感的离岸连接活动相比,通过使用本公开所述的UV可固化粘膜,简化了操作并缩短了安装粘合剂的时间。本公开的方法减少了安装时间,部分是因为略去了钢表面的预热时间(用于钢管连接)以及略去了与热活化收缩套安装有关的冷却时间。还提供了在涂装准确性方面的更好的控制,这确保了无空隙密封表面。简化步骤减少了操作员涂装错误的机会。此外,本公开排除了用于收缩套管的明火(例如,气焊枪)。本文所述的方法在冷温度、有风或潮湿的环境下还保持了其的效用。

实施例
实施例1
包含甲基丙烯酸的无规丙烯酸聚合物的制备(低分子量类型)。
按照下述方式制备具有在整个聚合物骨架上无规分布的甲基丙烯酸的丙烯酸共聚物。向装有加热套、搅拌器、回流冷凝器、给料箱和氮气入口的1,500ml反应器中装入54.8g乙酸乙酯、8.87g异丙醇和25.06g丙酮。
以下列量加入单体:
74.3g丙烯酸丁酯
20.37g丙烯酸叔丁酯
将反应器装料加热至具有恒定氮清洗的回流条件(反应器套85℃)。一旦完成溶剂回流,就向反应器加入0.19g过氧化苯甲酰(LuperoxTM A)和4.24g乙酸乙酯的引发剂溶液。在达到76℃至78℃的峰温度后,在三小时内向反应器中加入具有活性氮清洗的反应物进料混合物,即286.3g乙酸乙酯、31.8g异丙醇、364.9g丙烯酸丁酯、100.0g丙烯酸叔丁酯、2.96g甲基丙烯酸和1.04g LuperoxTM A。在三小时的反应物给料时,在回流条件下,将反应温度保持为75℃至79℃。在完成反应物给料后,保持反应条件30分钟。在30分钟内向反应器中加入1.54g过氧化新戊酸叔戊酯(LuperoxTM 554)和37.15g乙酸乙酯的混合物。在回流条件下将反应再保持一小时,在该点处用120g乙酸乙酯稀释反应。然后将所得溶液聚合物冷却至环境温度并将其从反应器中取出。
基于100%重量比的丙烯酸聚合物,所得的丙烯酸聚合物包含77.93%丙烯酸丁酯、21.36%丙烯酸叔丁酯和0.526%甲基丙烯酸。所述丙烯酸聚合物的分子量为30,800g/摩尔(相对于聚苯乙烯标准,通过凝胶渗透色谱法测定),并且多分散性为3.1。然后,将210g的100%固体聚合物溶解在90g乙酸乙酯中以产生丙烯酸溶液。
物理试验:
向丙烯酸聚合物中加入基于固体含量为1.0%和基于固体萜烯酚醛树脂含量为20%的乙酰丙酮酸铝。在90℃下干燥粘合剂组合物20分钟以确保丙烯酸聚合物的完全交联。
实施例2
用紫外和可热固化稀释剂将实施例1的材料稀释至30,000CPS(Brookfield粘度计,#5轴,10rpm)。将粘合剂组合物涂装在金属(钢)基材上并涂覆聚酯释放膜以使粘合剂的厚度为30mil至40mil。将该膜暴露于来自600瓦金属卤化物灯泡的950毫焦耳/cm2的辐射下约60秒,然后在130℃下后固化直到产生固化膜。
