本发明的各个实施例产生了一种使用媒体的各观众群的生理反应的一致性来评价媒体表现的方法和系统。反应一致性量度客观地度量了媒体在许多人中的效力,因为它表明了何时观众同时产生相同的情绪。与生理反应的平均值或调查数据相比,生理反应一致性对应于多个观众同时具有相同的情绪反应或同时具有不同的情绪反应,这是好得多的媒体表现指标。
本发明的评价方法基于如下原理:在市场上,表现有力的媒体不仅能够在一个观众中产生强烈的情绪反应,而且能够在许多观众中产生相同的强烈情绪反应。当观众观看一段媒体时,他们产生不同的情绪,但是对于成功的媒体,其中存在以各观众群的生理数据产生一致的反应的关键事件。如果对媒体没有一致的反应,则媒体不会表现良好;即,如果一些观众确实喜爱该媒体而与这些观众相当的其他观众不喜爱该媒体,则该媒体由于差的评价、差的口碑或其他负面观点而不会销售良好。

在一些实施例中,可特定于观众观看的媒体的类型分析观众的生理反应。非限制性的例子如下:
视频游戏:在视频游戏的情形下,生理反应和观众体验(产生反应)的视频可以重叠,且观众的体验可分成对应于游戏中各个事件的相关部分(事件)。视频、关键事件和观众生理反应的组合允许检查和评价事件的具体实例和所有观众的生理反应。

反应一致性
在一些实施例中,一致性模块可操作为基于观众与媒体交互时所记录的生理数据的时间序列来计算观众的反应一致性(CoR)。可针对时间序列中的所有点、基于在每个给定点处反应中的趋势彼此之间接近程度如何来计算反应一致性。存在许多在数学上计算时间序列中的反应中的趋势的方法,它们包括但不限于标准偏差法和类元划分(binning)法。
在一些实施例中,可基于在特定一个事件期间多个观众的生理反应的标准偏差和/或生理反应的导出量(例如,生理反应的幅度和值)的标准偏差来计算生理反应的一致性。可以对所有生理反应的导出量计算相关性,且趋势的变化由在该事件的给定时刻或持续时间内具有单个反应的正导出量的观众的数量来反映。

利用CoR评价媒体

在一些实施例中,除了基于在观众之间恒定的时间序列计算出的得分以外,还可以为诸如视频游戏、网站和其他交互式媒体的非线性或半线性媒体计算得分。每个观众的时间序列可分成对所有观众都呈现的事件。这些事件包括但不限于视频游戏中的搏斗场景、爆炸、观看网站的主页、进入DVD的一章等等。
在一些实施例中,一致性模块可这样产生CoR的总体评价:对整个媒体中各个事件的CoR值的幅度取平均,以便比较媒体中不同事件的效力:

还可以在CoR值上放置非线性权重:
CoR = Σ t = 0 T | f ( CoR ( t ) ) | T
此处,f(x)可以是对数函数、多项式函数等等:

f(x)=log(x)
此处,该函数可改变数据的特性,这大大增加了在得分上看到的区别。这涉及到将低一致性得分(比如10%一致)分类为很低,而将高一致性得分(比如70%一致)分类为很好。通过利用比如f(x)=x2的函数,这两个值将很大程度地区别开,使得10%值仅为.01而70%值为.49,或者说5倍大。这将高一致性点与低一致性点区别开,从而使具有低一致性的媒体更加不利而有助于具有高一致性的媒体。总体上说,CoR得分是可用于比较媒体中多个事件的体验和效力以及此类型的其他量度的值。该值越高,媒体的一致性越高。
然后,可通过相同的数学公式计算对事件中每个实例的反应的一致性,其中计算的时段是事件的长度而不是时间的增量。计算结果将是对每个事件的反应的评价。作为一个非限制性的例子,如果其中游戏X的视频游戏玩家与终极怪物X互作用的事件的70%导致吸引的上升,而与终极怪物Y的互作用的90%导致吸引的上升,则终极怪物Y比终极怪物X具有更一致的反应。可针对该段媒体中的每个相关事件进行这种计算,然后将这些得分相组合以产生总得分。
在一些实施例中,一致性模块可通过将生理反应的多个向量的CoR值相组合来产生体验的一致性的更完整的量度:
完全情绪CoR=CoR喜爱+CoR思考+CoR身体吸引+...
涵盖了作为更完整版本的量度的多个生理反应向量的该完全CoR值将媒体的不同方面考虑在内。如果媒体激发思考、产生相同的正面和负面反应并且同样地吸引观众,则媒体将是有力的并且将在市场上表现良好。考虑各个向量的特定子集的原因是为了度量观众体验的多个方面。如果每个观众思考媒体中的同一点(事件),但具有不同的情绪喜爱值,则结论是:虽然媒体使观众思考,但观众对媒体的反应在情绪上是很不相同的,一些具有正面反应而一些具有负面反应。
在一些实施例中,一致性模块可进一步操作为按照种族、性别、年龄、人口统计状况、收入、习惯和兴趣中的一个或多个将多个观众分组,并且根据多个观众的所述分组将对特定一个事件和/或媒体的评价相关联和/或相比较。
存在观察事件和媒体的这些量度/评价的许多方式,从CoR值列表到曲线图、再到包括其CoR值被绘图的媒体的多个事件和/或多个CoR方面在内的散点图。作为一个非限制性的例子,图6(a)示出了Budweiser 1-3及Miller 1-3这六个广告的示例CoR值。可以看出,Budweiser广告比Miller广告具有高得多的CoR值,这与Budweiser在市场上的更好表现相关。作为另一个非限制性的例子,图6(b)示出了对第一人称射击游戏(FPS)1-2和角色扮演游戏(RPG)1-3这五个视频游戏的喜爱和身体吸引的示例CoR值。角色扮演游戏(RPG)情节丰富,非常擅于在玩家中产生情绪反应,这为它们的喜爱CoR得分较高所证明。另一方面,它们的身体吸引CoR得分低得多,这归因于不总是强烈的对随机小战斗的较不一致的情绪。相反,第一人称射击游戏(FPS)非常擅于在玩家中产生一致性强的体验,但它们不那么一致地在玩家中产生正面和负面情绪,从而导致它们较高的身体吸引CoR得分和低的喜爱CoR得分。

Claims (30)

1.一种基于生理反应的一致性来支持媒体评价的系统,包括:
一个或多个传感器,其可操作为测量观看所述媒体的多个事件的多个观众中的每一个的生理数据;以及
一致性模块,其可操作为:
基于从观看所述多个事件中的特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据来得到生理反应;
计算所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的一致性;以及
基于所述多个观众的所述生理反应的一致性来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体。
2.一种基于生理反应的一致性来支持媒体评价的系统,包括:
一体式传感器头套,其可操作为测量观看所述媒体的多个事件的多个观众中的每一个的生理数据;以及
一致性模块,其可操作为:
基于从观看所述多个事件中的特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据来得到生理反应;
计算所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的一致性;以及
基于所述多个观众的所述生理反应的一致性来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体。
3.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述媒体是以下之一:电影、视频、电视节目、电视商业广告、广告、视频游戏、交互式在线媒体、印刷品以及观众能从中获知信息或情绪上受其影响的任何其他媒体。
4.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述媒体的所述多个事件中的每一个的持续时间在时间上是恒定的、非线性的或半线性的。
5.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一个或多个传感器中的每一个是以下之一:脑电图仪、加速度计、血氧传感器、检流计、肌电图仪和任何其他生理传感器。
6.根据权利要求2所述的系统,其中:
所述一体式传感器头套包括以下中的一个或多个:
一个或多个轴向加速度计;
一个或多个脑电图(EEG)电极;
一个或多个心率传感器;以及
处理单元。
7.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述生理数据是以下中的一个或多个:心率、脑电图(EEG)信号、眨眼率、呼吸、运动。
8.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述生理反应是以下中的一个或多个:思考、喜爱、吸引、沉浸、身体吸引、诱发和热情。
9.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为记录从所述特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据。
10.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为去除基于所述特定一个事件的持续时间测得的所述生理数据的高频部分或低频部分。
11.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为基于所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的标准偏差和/或所述生理反应的导出量的标准偏差来计算所述生理反应的一致性。
12.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为:
基于所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的类似性将所述生理反应按类元划分到多个预定类别中;以及
基于所述多个预定类别中的每一个中的所述生理反应的百分比来计算所述生理反应的一致性。
13.根据权利要求12所述的系统,其中:
所述多个预定类别包括以下中的一个或多个:很正面的、正面的、平淡的、负面的、很负面的。
14.根据权利要求12所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为在大多数所述生理反应落入所述多个预定类别中的一个的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为高,或在大多数所述生理反应落入所述多个预定类别中的多个中的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为低。
15.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为在大多数所述多个观众对所述事件感受相同的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为高,或在大多数所述多个观众对所述事件感受不同的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为低。
16.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为基于对所述媒体的所述多个事件的评价来评价所述媒体。
17.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为通过以下中的一个或多个来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体:绝对得分、相对于与所述媒体相当的媒体的得分以及分级得分。
18.根据权利要求1所述的系统,其中:
所述一致性模块可进一步操作为:
按照种族、性别、年龄、人口统计状况、收入、习惯和兴趣中的一个或多个将所述多个观众分组;以及
根据所述多个观众的所述分组将对所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体的评价相关联和/或相比较。
19.一种基于生理反应的一致性来支持媒体评价的方法,包括:
测量观看所述媒体的多个事件的多个观众中的每一个的生理数据;
基于从观看所述多个事件中的特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据来得到生理反应;
计算所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的一致性;以及
基于所述多个观众的所述生理反应的一致性来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体。
20.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
记录从所述特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据。
21.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
去除基于所述特定一个事件的持续时间测得的所述生理数据的高频部分或低频部分。
22.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
基于所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的标准偏差和/或所述生理反应的导出量的标准偏差来计算所述生理反应的一致性。
23.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
基于所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的类似性将所述生理反应按类元划分到多个预定类别中;以及
基于所述多个预定类别中的每一个中的所述生理反应的百分比来计算所述生理反应的一致性。
24.根据权利要求23所述的方法,进一步包括:
在大多数所述生理反应落入所述多个预定类别中的一个中的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为高,或在大多数所述生理反应落入所述多个预定类别中的多个中的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为低。
25.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
在大多数所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件感受相同的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为高,或在大多数所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件感受不同的情况下将所述特定一个事件评价为低。
26.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
基于对所述媒体的所述多个事件的评价来评价所述媒体。
27.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
通过以下中的一个或多个来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体:绝对得分、相对于与所述媒体相当的媒体的得分以及分级得分。
28.根据权利要求19所述的方法,进一步包括:
按照种族、性别、年龄、人口统计状况、收入、习惯和兴趣中的一个或多个将所述多个观众分组;以及
根据所述多个观众的所述分组将对所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体的评价相关联和/或相比较。
29.一种存储有指令的机器可读介质,所述指令在被执行时使得系统:
测量观看所述媒体的多个事件的多个观众中的每一个的生理数据;
基于从观看所述多个事件中的特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据来得到生理反应;
计算所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的一致性;以及
基于所述多个观众的所述生理反应的一致性来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体。
30.一种基于生理反应的一致性来支持媒体评价的系统,包括:
测量观看所述媒体的多个事件的多个观众中的每一个的生理数据的装置;
基于从观看所述多个事件中的特定一个事件的所述多个观众中的每一个测得的所述生理数据来得到生理反应的装置;
计算所述多个观众对所述特定一个事件的所述生理反应的一致性的装置;以及
基于所述多个观众的所述生理反应的一致性来评价所述特定一个事件和/或所述媒体的装置。
