背景技术
平板显示装置,例如,液晶显示装置和有机发光二极管(OLED)显示装置,重量轻并且薄,并且被广泛地用于替代阴极射线管(CRT)显示装置。在这些平板显示装置中,尤其是OLED显示装置,因为它们具有优良的亮度、宽视角并且由于与LCD相比,它们不需要背光,从而非常薄的优点而吸引了相当多的关注。

驱动晶体管Tr1电连接于有机发光二极管OLED和第二节点N2之间,并根据第一节点N1的电压将驱动电流施加到有机发光二极管OLED。第一开关晶体管Tr2电连接于数据线Dm和第一节点N1之间,并响应于或根据从扫描线Sn施加的扫描信号将数据信号传送至第一节点N1。第二开关晶体管Tr3电连接于第二节点N2和电源线VDD之间,并响应于或根据从控制线En施加的控制信号将电源电压传输至第二节点N2。第一开关晶体管Tr2、第二开关晶体管Tr3和驱动晶体管Tr1可以是独立的NMOS或PMOS晶体管。此外,有机发光二极管OLED连接于驱动晶体管Tr1和地VSS之间。
第一电容器C1电连接于电源线VDD和第一节点N1之间,并存储小于或等于第一节点N1的电压和从电源线VDD施加的电源电压之间的差的电压。
第二电容器C2电连接于第一节点N1和第二节点N2之间,并存储小于或等于第一节点N1的电压和第二节点N2的电压之间的差的电压。
图3是显示根据本发明示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路的驱动的波形图。参照图2和图3,在驱动根据本发明示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路时,在第一时间段T1期间,低电平的扫描信号和低电平的控制信号分别通过扫描线Sn和控制线En被施加。
第一开关晶体管Tr2通过低电平的扫描信号被导通,从而第一开关晶体管Tr2将从数据线Dm施加的数据信号传输至第一节点N1。因此,第一节点N1的电压与来自数据线Dm的数据信号的电压相等,并且电连接于第一节点N1和电源线VDD之间的第一电容器C1存储来自数据线Dm的数据信号的电压和来自电源线VDD的电源电压之间的电压差。
此外,在第一时间段T1中,第二开关晶体管Tr3通过经控制线En施加的低电平的控制信号而导通,第二开关晶体管Tr3将从电源线VDD施加的电源电压传输至第二节点N2。因此,第二节点N2的电压与从电源线VDD施加的电源电压相等,与第一电容器C1一样,电连接于第二节点N2和第一节点N1之间的第二电容器C2存储通过第一开关晶体管Tr2从数据线Dm施加的数据信号的电压与来自电源线VDD的电源电压之间的电压差。
在第一时间段T1中,因为电源电压被从电源线VDD传输至第二节点N2,数据信号被传输至第一节点N1,所以驱动晶体管Tr1被导通,并且驱动晶体管Tr1响应于或根据从数据线Dm传输至第一节点N1的数据信号的电压将驱动电流施加至有机发光二极管OLED。但是,因为第一时间段T1短于随后的第三时间段T3,所以第一时间段T1不影响整体的亮度。
接着,在第二时间段T2内,低电平的扫描信号被施加到扫描线Sn,高电平的控制信号被施加到控制线En。如在第一时间段T1中所示,第一开关晶体管Tr2通过低电平的扫描信号Sn保持导通,因此,第一节点N1保持从数据线Dm施加的数据信号的电压,第一电容器C1存储数据信号的电压和来自电源线VDD的电源电压的电压差。
第二开关晶体管Tr3由于高电平的控制信号而截止,从而电源电压不从电源线VDD施加到第二节点N2。第一节点N1和第二节点N2分别连接到驱动晶体管Tr1的栅端和源端,因此,第二电容器C2存储驱动晶体管Tr1的阈值电压,第二节点N2保持与数据信号的电压和阈值电压之和对应的电压。
因此,在第二时间段T2中,驱动晶体管Tr1通过从数据线Dm施加到第一节点N1的数据信号的电压被导通,并且响应于或根据从数据线Dm传输至第一节点N1的数据信号的电压将驱动电流施加到有机发光二极管OLED,如第一时间段T1中所示。但是,第二时间段T2对整体亮度的影响不很大,这是因为第二时间段T2短于随后的第三时间段T3。另外,在第二时间段T2内,第二节点N2的电压与作为阈值电压的第一节点N1的电压不同,从而驱动晶体管Tr1不施加使有机发光二极管OLED展现足够的亮度的足够的驱动电流。
接着,在第三时间段T3中,高电平的扫描信号被施加到扫描线Sn,低电平的控制信号被施加到控制线En。第二开关晶体管Tr3通过低电平控制信号被导通,因此,第二节点N2的电压与通过电源线施加的电源电压相等。第一开关晶体管Tr2通过来自扫描线Sn的高电平的扫描信号被截止,因此,由于第一电容器C1和第二电容器C2的耦合效应(coupling effect),第一节点N1保持以下电压:
V N 1 = V data + C 2 C 1 + C 2 ( ELVDD - V data - V th ) ,
其中,VN1是第一节点的电压,C1是第一电容器的电容,C2是第二电容器的电容,Vdata是数据信号的电压,ELVDD是电源电压,Vth是驱动晶体管的阈值电压。
在第三时间段T3中,驱动晶体管Tr1响应于第一节点N1的电压VN1将驱动电流施加到有机发光二极管OLED,因此,在第三时间段T3,有机发光二极管OLED的亮度由第一电容器C1和第二电容器C2的电容比确定。
结果,根据本发明示例性实施例的OLED显示装置控制每个像素P11~Pnm的第一电容器C1和第二电容器C2的电容比,因此,可将合适的驱动电流施加到每个像素P11~Pnm的有机发光二极管OLED,而不管从数据线Dm施加到每个像素P11~Pnm的数据信号的电压如何。
图4是根据本发明另一示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路的电路图。参照图4,根据本发明该示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路包括:驱动晶体管Tr1;第一开关晶体管Tr2;第二开关晶体管Tr3;第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B;第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B;红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230,分别包括红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB;数据线Dm-1、Dm、Dm+1,用于将各个数据信号施加到红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230;扫描线Sn,将扫描信号施加到红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230;控制线En,将控制信号施加到红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230。在第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比方面,红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230互相不同。
第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比由各个像素210、220和230中的红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB确定。具体地说,在各个像素210、220和230中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比与各个像素210、220和230中的红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB的效率成反比。
因此,随着红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB的效率降低,各个像素210、220和230中的第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B具有较高的电容,而各个像素210、220和230中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B具有较低的电容。这里,为了控制在各个像素210、220和230中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比,第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B或第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容在所有像素210、220和230中可被设为相等的电容,这样,其它电容器的电容可被控制,或者可控制第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B以及第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的所有的电容。
结果,根据本发明的该示例性实施例的OLED显示装置可分别根据红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB的效率,不同地控制在红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比,这样,即使具有相同电压的数据信号被施加到红色像素210、绿色像素220和蓝色像素230,合适的驱动电流也被施加到红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB
图5是根据本发明另一示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路的电路图。参照图5,根据本发明该示例性实施例的OLED显示装置的像素电路包括:驱动晶体管Tr1;第一开关晶体管Tr2;第二开关晶体管Tr3;第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B;第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B;红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330,分别包括红色有机发光二极管OLEDR、绿色有机发光二极管OLEDG和蓝色有机发光二极管OLEDB;数据线Dm,将数据信号施加到子像素310、320和330;扫描线Sn,将扫描信号施加到像素310、320和330;控制线En,将控制信号施加到像素310、320和330;多路分解器1000,电连接至数据线Dm,以将数据信号顺序地施加至子像素310、320和330。这里,在各个子像素310、320和330中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B以及第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B具有不同的电容比。
多路分解器1000与数据线Dm电连接,并且响应于红色数据控制信号CR、绿色数据控制信号CG和蓝色数据控制信号CB使第三开关晶体管Tr4、第四开关晶体管Tr5和第五开关晶体管Tr6导通/截止,从而顺序地将数据信号施加到红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330。
因此,在根据本发明的该示例性实施例的OLED显示装置中,具有相同电压的数据信号可通过多路分解器1000顺序地被施加至三种子像素,然而,可根据在各个红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330中的各个有机发光二极管的效率来控制第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比,从而将合适的驱动电流施加至红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330的有机发光二极管OLEDR、OLEDG和OLEDB
结果,根据本发明的该示例性实施例的OLED显示装置可根据红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330的有机发光二极管OLEDR、OLEDG和OLEDB的效率控制各个红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330中的第一电容器C1R、C1G和C1B与第二电容器C2R、C2G和C2B的电容比,并且可通过一根数据线Dm通过多路分解器1000将数据信号顺序地施加到各个红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330,从而减少OLED显示装置中数据线的数量,并且增大各个红色子像素310、绿色子像素320和蓝色子像素330的开口率。
因此,根据本发明各方面的OLED显示装置可控制各个像素的第一电容器与第二电容器的电容比,从而即使施加具有相同电压的数据信号,也可将合适的驱动电流施加至像素的有机发光二极管,从而允许数据驱动单元的简单设计并且减小OLED显示装置的功耗。另外,每个像素可包括有机发光二极管、第一开关晶体管、第二开关晶体管、驱动晶体管、第一电容器和第二电容器,从而最小化驱动晶体管的阈值电压,并且最小化像素的开口率的降低。
虽然已经显示并描述了本发明的一些实施例,但是本领域技术人员应该理解,在不脱离本发明的原理和精神的情况下,可对该实施例进行改变,本发明的范围由权利要求及其等同物限定。

Claims (20)

1、一种有机发光二极管显示装置,包括:
有机发光二极管;
扫描线,施加扫描信号;
控制线,施加控制信号;
数据线,施加数据信号;
驱动晶体管,电连接于有机发光二极管和第二节点之间,以根据第一节点的电压将驱动电流施加到有机发光二极管;
第一开关晶体管,电连接于数据线和第一节点之间,并且第一开关晶体管根据来自扫描线的扫描信号而被导通/截止;
第二开关晶体管,电连接于第二节点和电源线之间,并且第二开关晶体管根据来自控制线的控制信号而被导通/截止;
第一电容器,电连接于第一节点和电源线之间;
第二电容器,电连接于第一节点和第二节点之间,
其中,第一电容器和第二电容器的电容互不相同。
2、如权利要求1所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一电容器与第二电容器的电容比与有机发光二极管的效率成反比。
3、如权利要求2所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成比例。
4、如权利要求2所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第二电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成反比。
5、如权利要求1所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一开关晶体管、第二开关晶体管和驱动晶体管中的至少两个具有相同的电导类型。
6、如权利要求5所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一开关晶体管、第二开关晶体管和驱动晶体管是独立的NMOS或PMOS晶体管。
7、一种有机发光二极管显示装置,包括:
像素,包括红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素;
扫描线,将扫描信号施加到像素;
控制线,将控制信号施加到像素;
数据线,将数据信号分别施加到红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素;
电源线,用于将电压提供至像素,
其中,红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素中的每个包括:
有机发光二极管;
驱动晶体管,电连接于有机发光二极管和第二节点之间,以根据第一节点的电压将驱动电流施加至有机发光二极管;
第一开关晶体管,电连接于相应的数据线和第一节点之间,并且第一开关晶体管响应于来自扫描线的扫描信号而被导通/截止;
第二开关晶体管,电连接于第二节点和电源线之间,并且第二开关晶体管响应于来自控制线的控制信号而被导通/截止;
第一电容器,电连接于第一节点和电源线之间;
第二电容器,电连接于第一节点和第二节点之间,
其中,红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素的第一电容器与第二电容器的电容比不同。
8、如权利要求7所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,各个子像素的第二电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成反比。
9、如权利要求8所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素的第一电容器具有相等的电容。
10、如权利要求7所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,各个子像素的第一电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成比例。
11、如权利要求10所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,红色子像素、绿色子像素和蓝色子像素的第二电容器具有相等的电容。
12、如权利要求7所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一开关晶体管、第二开关晶体管和驱动晶体管中的至少两个的类型相同。
13、如权利要求12所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一开关晶体管、第二开关晶体管和驱动晶体管是独立的NMOS或PMOS晶体管。
14、一种有机发光二极管显示装置,包括:
扫描线,用于施加扫描信号;
控制线,用于施加控制信号;
数据线,用于施加数据信号;
电源线,用于提供电压;
像素,用于显示不同的颜色,每个像素包括:
有机发光二极管;
驱动晶体管,电连接于有机发光二极管和第二节点之间,以根据第一节点的电压将驱动电流施加至有机发光二极管;
第一开关晶体管,电连接于相应的数据线和第一节点之间,并且第一开关晶体管响应于来自相应的扫描线的扫描信号而被导通/截止;
第二开关晶体管,电连接于第二节点和相应的电源线之间,并且第二开关晶体管响应于来自相应的控制线的相应的控制信号而被导通/截止;
第一电容器,电连接于第一节点和相应的电源线之间;
第二电容器,电连接于第一节点和第二节点之间,
其中,在多个像素中的显示不同颜色的像素的第一电容器与第二电容器的电容比不同。
15、如权利要求14所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一电容器与第二电容器的电容比与像素的有机发光二极管的效率成反比。
16、如权利要求15所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第二电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成反比。
17、如权利要求16所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,各个像素的第一电容器具有相等的电容。
18、如权利要求15所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,第一电容器的电容与有机发光二极管的效率成比例。
19、如权利要求18所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,其中,各个像素的第二电容器具有相等的电容。
20、如权利要求14所述的有机发光二极管显示装置,还包括:
多路分解器,用于顺序地将数据信号施加至像素。
