Lamp st ineande # scenee for liquid fuel. The object of the invcntio n is an incandescent lamp for liquid fuel.
This lamp has a coruustible reservoir to which is connected a removable thin-walled vaporizer tube of small cross section, having a vaporization zone which is remote from the emitting end (this vaporizer tube and adjacent:
i at least titi burner, which means that the fuel admitted into said vaporization zone is vaporized, when the lamp is ignited, by the heat developed by the burner, the thin wall of the vaporizer tube allowing, during ignition of the lamp, (the cause art medium vaporization of a relatively weak heat source.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an axial section thereof; Fig. 2 is a side ledge of certain parts of this lamp; Fig. 3 is a detail view.
The lamp shown comprises: 1 its lower part, a container 3 which is retractable by means of a sleeve -1, disposed at the upper part of the container and on the side thereof.
(, 'e sleeve 4 is internally threaded to receive titi removable cap 5 colnporta bed, at its upper part, an outer flange 6 provided (Fini seal 7 on its internal face.
The plug 5 presents titi passage channel S, the lower end of which is widened to receive a check valve 9, while qir'àr evening upper end it communicates with two connections 10 d leading clans the upper part of said. cap 5, which is drilled like my 11.
A threaded plug 12 is screwed into this pierced part 11 and it is crossed by tin channel 13. which is of a smaller diameter than that of the. part 14 of the plug 5 included between the connections 10. this part 14 thus forming 111) a seat which closes the inner end of the channel 13 in the plug 13 when this plug is screwed on.
bottom on the seat 14. The outer end of the channel 13 is terminated by a flared part 15 intended to receive the conical end of the lance nozzle of an air supply pump. In the device described above, if it is desired to fill the tank 3, the cap 5 is unscrewed from the sleeve 4 and the fuel is introduced through the orifice of this sleeve, the cap 5 is then replaced.
The fuel in the small container 3 then be pressurized, by simply pressing the nozzle of the tube of an air pump into the flare 15, the stopper 13 having been previously. keyed and lifted off seat 14.
Air can thus be introduced by the pump through the plug 12 and the bottle 5 in the. reservoir 3, the return or the exhaust of hair being impécllé by the retentae valve 9. When the air is in sufficient quantity, the cap 12 is screwed back on until qta'il presses its lower face on the seat 14. thus sealing the air orifices.
The tank 3 is provided with a central vertical duct 16, the upper end of which is connected to the lower part of a connector 17 screwed into a bulge 41 formed at the upper part of the tank and which is traversed by a channel 18 which comprises a valve seat 19. disposed transversely. The connector 17 is provided on one side with a transverse .pro skirt 21, into which is screwed a needle 20, acting jointly with the seat 19 to adjust the passage opening of the channel 18 and operated by a small external handwheel 2 \ _ '.
The upper part of the connector 17 is externally threaded to receive bare crown -93 disposed horizontally and comprising an eccentric part clans which is. screwed on the air tube 24.
The lower and upper parts of the tube 24 are vertical and are connected by an intermediate mud part 2), the upper part 2 6 being part of a mixing chamber which also includes its support cap 2 7 arranged transversely, screwed onto the top of the tube: .14 and held in place by a clamping screw 28. The upper part 26 of the tube 24 is arranged in the axis or directly above the connector 17.
The sleeves and their distribution tubes are suspended from the support cap 27 as shown in fig. 2. Said distribution tubes \ 29 are screwed into the cap 27 and are provided with caps 30 which are screwed on their lower end.
These caps 30 fit together appropriate wire mesh 31 (Fig. 3) disposed in the lower orifice of tube 29 and include outer annular ribs '13? arranged to hold the sleeves securely in place.
The sleeves and their alinientatioal tubes are preferably arranged on either side of the SUPPOI-t-tLII) e à. ay- 24 and slightly lower than the curved part 25 of the support.
The upper part of the connector 1 7 is also threaded and closed and is provided with a removable tube 33, for the admission and vaporization of the fuel, the lower end of which is suitably supported and held in position by a plug. 125 screwed into fitting 17.
The upper end of the tube 3.3 enters the air supply tube 24 through an opening 136 in the curved portion 2 5 of this tube, so as to emit the vaporized fuel from the bottom to the bottom. high in the upper part 26 of the tube 24, the vaporizing tube 33 being terminated for this purpose at, its upper part by a titi emission nozzle:) 7 having the small discharge orifice 38.
The fuel supply and vaporization tube 33 comprises. also bare central loop '.l9 which and) constitutes the vaporizing zone and which is arranged so as to move away from the air tube, between the sleeves and their supply tubes as shown in FIG. 2,
said tube 33 being provided with a substance 40 which filters and retards the fuel. The distension of the tube 33 and the thickness of its walls as well as the arrangement of the loop 39 are such that the fuel can be vaporized at the start with the heat given off by ordinary matches;
A bronze tube of about 5 minutes in diameter on a wall thickness of 1: rani and an outer diameter night loop give good results in practice.
I.e bulge 41 at the top of said reservoir 3 is used to support 1111 collar 42 11111 (i of perforations 43 and a groove 44 't through which the extension 21 passes.
The collar: 12 supports the bottom plate 45 of a globe holder, which is provided with a central rim 46 which fits into the collar 42; the bottom plate -15 is provided with a central opening. to give passage ai (connection 17, and which is reinforced by irae flange 47.
The plate 45 is thus firmly held between the collar 42 and the connector 23 and also serves to hold the collar 42 in position. The plate 45 carries two supports 48, provided at their upper end with pivoting pieces 49 around them. which small pivot a handle 50, and these support rods 48 also support a ring 51 provided with a vertical flange 52 arranged to maintain tilt globe 53 position resting on the plate 45.
This is moreover pierced by an opening 59 placed directly under the air tube 24. in order to allow air to flow freely into this orb.
A ventilation cap comprising a perforated collar 54 is disposed above the globe 53; this necklace: 54 is finished at the bottom with a flange resting on the ring:
U. The upper part of the collar 54 comprises a cap 55 traversed by a central opening 56, through which passes a rod 7 carried by the cap 27, the protruding end of said rod being intimate with the nut 58 which bears on the shell 5:> and serves to hold the cap (the ventilation in position and also to allow (the, the dismounting easily.
The lamp described above fotictionllle continuous follows The pressurized fuel contained in the tank 3, flows towards the end, when the valve 20 is open, 't through the pipe 16 and the fitting 17 in the </ B> vaporization tube 33.
If the sleeves> have then lit. the heat which is given off will vaporize the coni-Itiiatible during its passage through the loop 39, the vaporized fuel coming out through the nozzle;
37 in the upper part 21i of the tube support <t air '? 4. The influx of the vaporized fuel causes the admission of air through the orifice: 59 formed in the plate -1: 5 called the globe holder and causes it to rise through the air pressure 24 in the upper part? 6 of this tube.
The vaporized fuel and the air are thus negated in the null chamber bed constituted by the upper part '6 of the tube \ 4 and by the capean-support 2-1, the oxidant iiiélati - e then descending towards the ina ( closed by the distribution tubes '' 9.
once the lamp is lit, it suffices to hold one or two ignited matches under the loop 39 known as the vaporization tube): 3, which will thus be sufficiently heated to vaporize the fuel and to @ terniiiiet # igniting the sleeves.
A vaporization lamp or burner constructed as described, allows the initial vaporization to be achieved in a short period of time and without having to resort to a device (the special arrangement, such as a lamp, is:
tlc @@ ol for example. misdemeanor use has many disadvantages and considerable disadvantages. The speed and the arrangement of the vaporizer tube are such that vaporization.
which takes place mainly at the entrance to the loop of the vaporiser tube, is produced at a distance relatively called said emission nozzle. the danger of obstruction binds the orifice called spout by an accidental accumulation of deposits, ts neux carbon being thus practically eliminated cm considerably reduced.
The structure of the lamp is greatly simplified by the installation of a tl * alintenit-tionn air serving for several purposes contrite it has been described above and whose construction allows 1-use of the tube of:
relatively short vaporization. which can be easily removed for cleaning, repairing or renewing. This lamp is also light and compact, easy to handle and easy to use; at the same time it is comparatively inexpensive to construct.
