Gas burner The present invention relates to a gas burner, provided with a handle and which is characterized by the fact that it comprises a gas supply pipe, housed inside said handle and by the fact that this handle is integral with a retaining member that can be engaged, in a removable manner, in a housing formed in a base.
The single figure of the appended drawing illustrates, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment of the gas burner, according to the invention, certain parts being seen in section.
This gas burner comprises a supply line 1 constituted by an axial bore made in a handle 2, one end of which is provided with a nozzle 3 making it possible to connect this supply line to a flexible pipe (not shown ), supplied with pressurized gas. This handle 2 is integral with a holding member 4, preferably made of light metal (such as aluminum or one of its alloys), the lower end 5 of which, slightly conical, can be removably engaged in a housing 6 made in a base preferably of cast iron.
The supply duct 1 opens into the internal void of a tube forced into a housing made in the holding member. The upper end of the tube 9 is closed by a stopper 10 which carries a support 11, provided with a flange 12 surmounted by a shutter member 19. The stopper and the support have an axial bore 13 opening through two radial bores 14 in a gas distribution chamber 15. The bore 13 is extended by an exhaust duct 16 of small diameter, intended for supplying a pilot flame. The tube 9 is capped by a cap 17, provided with an exhaust port 18, the position of which is adjustable with respect to the shutter member 19.
In the embodiment shown, the cap 17 is screwed onto the tube 9 and an annular seal 20 ensures the seal.
The operation of the gas burner described is as follows The pressurized gas, arriving through the supply duct 1, rises in the supply channel 8 and flows through the radial bores 14 into the distribution chamber 5. This gas passes in the form of an annular sheet between the peripheral edge of the flange 12 and the internal wall of the cap 17 and flows into a chamber 21, then is led by the conical surface 22 of the shutter in the direction of the exhaust port 18 which is also conical, so as to form a gas jet which escapes in the extension of the axis of the cap.
By screwing this cap 17 more or less onto the tube 9, the cross section of the gas passage in the exhaust port 18 is modified; which makes it possible to adjust the gas flow rate and therefore the size of the flame at will.
By fully screwing the cap 17 on the tube 9, the shutter member 19 engages in the exhaust port 18 and the conical wall of this orifice comes to rest on the conical wall 22 of the shutter 19, so as to completely close this exhaust port 18. However, a weak jet of gas still escapes through the exhaust duct 16 formed in the shutter and which feeds a pilot flame.
This gas burner can be used in any position, the operator being able to grab the handle, release the foot 4 from the base 7 and direct the flame on the object to be heated. Thanks to the fact that the light metal foot is removable from the base, the operator is not hampered when handling the spout by the mass of the base 7 which would constitute an unbalance preventing obtaining the desired precision of movement during delicate operations or work.
An embodiment of the gas burner, object of the invention, has been described here, by way of example, but it goes without saying that multiple variants can be provided. Thus, for example, the spout could not include an exhaust duct feeding a pilot flame.
It is clear that the plug 10 engaged in the upper end of the tube 9 could be removable. In this case, it is advantageous to provide a set of interchangeable plugs 10, the conduits 16 of which would be of different sections, which makes it possible to choose the size of the pilot flame as required.
