Oil burner. The present invention relates to an oil burner. It is characterized in that it comprises a body on which is placed a cup-shaped part in which there is a proper burner, the body having, at its upper part, an oil vaporization chamber connected by channels located inside the body, on the one hand, to an oil supply duct and, on the other hand, to a nozzle arranged in the lower part of the body, means being provided for adjusting the flow rate of this nozzle and the whole being arranged so that the oil arriving in the chamber vaporizes there and reaches the nozzle, from which it leaves to penetrate, with air,
into the burner and exit through orifices of the latter, vaporization being obtained, at the beginning, by the combustion of a combustible liquid which is placed in the cup and, in normal operation, by the heat of the flame.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, in an axial vertical section passing through parts 1, 2 and 3.
The burner shown comprises a body having the general shape of a U of which a tubular part 1 is the middle branch, approximately horizontal, and of which the parts 2 and 3 are the side branches, substantially vertical.
The upper ends of the branches 2 and 3 are joined by a part 9, of annular shape, horizontal, in which is made a circular groove 10 open at its upper part and having a substantially rectangular transverse section.
The upper part of the branch 3 is traversed longitudinally by a channel opening, on the one hand, into a pipe 4 for supplying the oil and, on the other hand, into the bottom of the groove 10.
The branch 2 is traversed longitudinally by a channel also opening into the bottom of the groove 10, at a point practically diametrically opposite to that where the other channel opens, and communicating with a nozzle 6 disposed at the middle part of 1 , thanks to a channel made in this branch 1 and following it. A needle valve 5 carried by a rod passing axially through a part of the branch 1 and screwed into the latter makes it possible to establish or cut off the communication between the internal channel of the branch 2 and the nozzle 6.
The stem of the valve 5 passes through a stuffing box 7 and comprises, at its end opposite to this valve, a member of my work 8 constituted by a lever so that this rod can be rotated around its axis so as to move it axially. , thanks to its - threaded part forming a screw in a part of 1 forming a fixed nut, so as to move the needle away or bring it closer to its fixed sigge.
\ 'The nozzle 6 has an outlet opening facing upwards, practically along the axis. of the annular part 9. On the latter rests the bottom of a part 12 having the shape of a cup. This bottom has a stamped circular part 11 which fits exactly "on the annular part 9 so that it closes the upper part of the groove 10. The latter and the bottom of this part 12 therefore determine a annular channel 10 or vaporization chamber communicating the internal channels 3 and 2, that is to say the fuel feed 4 and the nozzle 6 when the valve is in the open position.
The bottom of the part 12 has at its central part an orifice of relatively large dimensions, located above the nozzle 6.
On the bottom of the cup 12 rests, by its edge, a part 14 in the form of a bell, the bottom of which has at its central part an orifice with a diameter substantially equal to that (the orifice passing through the bottom of the cup 12 and located above the latter. A pipe 13; -solid with 14 and partially engaged in the aforementioned orifice 12, allows the connection of these two orifices. This pipe 13 is disposed vertically, above the 6.-nozzle and is open at both ends.
-: Over the. piece .14 is arranged a second bell-shaped piece, 15, also resting by its edge on the bottom of the cup 12.
The internal diameter and the height of this bell 15 are slightly larger than the diameter and the height of; 14, so that between these two bells there is a free space constituting with the interior of 13 a mixing chamber. The diameter of 15 is smaller than that of 12. This part or bell 15 is held stationary thanks to the fact that its edge is disposed on the circular projection 11 of 12, so that this projection 11 is frictionally engaged inside. bell 15.
The side wall of the bell 15 is pierced with orifices putting the space between 14 and 15 in communication with the outside. The bells 14 and 15 constitute the actual burner.
. The operation is as follows: The valve being closed by the needle 5, the pipe 4 bringing oil from a reservoir arranged so that the liquid arriving in the channel 4 can fill the chamber 10, the inner pipe of the branch 3, the chamber or channel 10, the longitudinal channels of the branches 2 and 1 'being filled with this oil; a combustible liquid, for example alcohol, is poured into cup 12 and it is ignited.
The heat released by the combustion of this liquid is transmitted, by conduction, to the oil contained in the aforementioned conduits. and vaporizes it. The valve is then opened by acting on the lever 8, the vaporized or gasified oil passes through the nozzle 6 and, because of its temperature and the pressure at which it is located, takes an upward movement and engages in the tube. 13 according to the direction of the arrows to gain the space between the bells 14 and 15 from which it escapes through the orifices - of this last bell and automatically lights up when arriving in contact with the flames of alcohol.
On entering the tube 13, the vaporized or gasified petroleum entrains with it air which will be used for, its. combustion. Once the stove is started, the heat given off by the flame produced by the combustion of the oil causes the vaporization of the oil in the channels, in particular in the channel or vaporization chamber 10.
The quantity of heat supplied by the flame can be adjusted at will by acting on the lever 8, so as to increase or decrease the passage section existing between the needle 5 and its seat, so that the flow of oil leaving the nozzle varied.
The burner body described could be made up of four parts 1, 2, 3 and 9 assembled instead of being in one piece. The parts 14 and 15 could be kept fixed in a different way than that described. They could be replaced by a single hollow part having two walls limiting a space such as that between 14 and 15.
