3 Teilen. Natriumcarbonat in 200 Teilen Wasser.
Additional patent to main patent no. 297840. Process for the production of a cobalt-containing azo carbate. It has been found that a new, valuable, cobalt-containing azo dye is obtained by using the monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0008
lets cobalt releasing agents act in such a way that an azo dye containing cobalt is formed,
which contains two monoazo dye molecules bound to a cobalt atom in a complex.
The new dye forms a water-soluble powder that dyes wool from a weakly alkaline, neutral or acetic acid bath in blue-tinged Bordeaux tones with good lightfastness and excellent wet, carbonising and deca fastness.
Serving as the starting material, the above formula corresponding monoazo dye can be obtained by coupling the 5,8-di- e.hlor-1-oxynaphthalene with methods known per se, for. B. using hydrochloric acid and sodium nitrite diazotized 2-amino-l-oxyben- zene-4-sulfonsältre-ss-oxyäthylamid be prepared.
The treatment with the cobalt-releasing agents is carried out according to the present method in such a way that a cobalt-containing dye is formed which contains less than one atom of cobalt in complex bond per molecule of dye. Accordingly, the metallization is expediently carried out with such cobalt-releasing agents and by such methods which, from experience, provide complex cobalt compounds of this composition.
It is generally advisable to use less than one, but at least ½ atom of cobalt per molecule of dye and / or perform the metallization in a weakly acidic to alkaline medium. Cobalt salts such as cobalt sulfate or cobalt acetate, and if necessary freshly precipitated cobalt hydroxide, are expediently used as cobalt-releasing agents.
Example: 23.2 parts of 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid-s-oxy-ethylamide are suspended in 200 parts of water and 15 parts of 10N hydrochloric acid and at 0 to 5 diazotized with 25 parts by volume of 4N sodium nitrite solution. The diazo solution, neutralized by adding sodium carbonate, is allowed to run into a solution, cooled to 0 with ice, of 21.3 parts of 5,8-dichloro-1-oxynaphthalene, 4 parts of sodium hydroxide, 5,
3 parts. Sodium carbonate in 200 parts of water. After the coupling is complete, the precipitated dye is filtered and dried.
22.75 parts of the dye thus obtained are dissolved in 500 parts of 80 warm water with the addition of 4 parts of sodium hydroxide and 50 parts of a cobalt sulfate solution with a cobalt content of 3.250 / a are added. After about half an hour of stirring at 70 to 80, the metallization is complete. The resulting solution is clarified if necessary and evaporated to dryness.
