Additional patent to main patent No. 2-37187. Process for the preparation of an azo dye. It has been found that a valuable azo dye can be produced if tetrazotized 3-oxy-3'-methoxybenzidine is mixed with salicylic acid on the one hand and 7th on the other.
- (4'-Aminophenyl), - 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone couples, the aminodisazo compound obtained is dianotized and coupled with 1- (4'-oxy-3'-carboxy-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone.
The new dye is a dark powder that dissolves in water with an orange-brown color, in diluted alkalis with a brown-red color and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a fuchsin-red color and colors cotton in washable, red shades using the one or two-bath copper plating process.
The 3-oxy-3'-methoxybenzidine required for the present process can be prepared according to the information in the main patent.
The tetrazotization of 3-oxy-3! -Methoxy-benzidine takes place in a known manner. The coupling of the tetrazo compound with the abovementioned azo components is expediently carried out in two stages, in such a way that first only one coupling with salicic acid and then the further coupling with 1- (4'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5 -pyrazolone causes. Both couplings are expediently in alkaline,
for example, medium containing alkali carbonate or alkali hydroxide or both.
The dianotation of the aminodisazo compound can expediently be carried out in an indirect manner, for example by acidifying an alkaline solution of the compound mentioned with the necessary amount of nitrite. The last coupling is also carried out in an alkaline medium.
Example: 5.75 g of 3-oxy-3'-methoxybenzidine are tetrazotized in the usual manner in the presence of hydrochloric acid with sodium nitrite. The clear solution of the tetrazo compound is combined at 5 with a solution of 3.46 g of salicylic acid and 6 g of sodium hydroxide in 40 cm3 of water.
The mixture is stirred at 4-6 hours, a solution of 4.73 g of 1- (4'-aminophenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 2 g of sodium hydroxide in 50% of water is added and the mixture is stirred 1 Hour at 10-12 and 20-25 hours at 15-20. After blunting with hydrochloric acid, the disazo dye is filtered off and dissolved in 400 cm 'of water at 50% with the addition of 2 g of sodium hydroxide.
25 cm of n-sodium nitrite are added to the solution of the dye. After adding 100 g of ice, the 65 cm 'of 2N hydrochloric acid fell. The diazotization is complete after stirring for 25 hours at 10-15.
The diazodisazo dye is deposited by adding sodium chloride and entered as a moist paste in a solution of 5.85 g of 1- (4'-oxy-3'-carboxyphenyl) -3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and 6 g of sodium hydroxide in 90 a 'water. The mixture is stirred for 1 hour at 10-12 and the coupling is completed at 18-20. The trisazo dye is filtered off and dried.
